With only 2 charting weeks left of 'Summer', I have created my thread so I can count down my top 40 songs of the summer! If you saw my Top 100 songs of 2022 so far thread, you'll know how i format it but if not I'll give a brief explanation!
Each week I post my top 50 songs chart to Crownnote and the Personal Charts Forum on Buzzjack! I use that to calculate each song's points, eg. if a song reaches #1 it gets 50 points, #2 - 48 points etc. Both #49 and #50 get 1 point. For end of year charts songs can get bonuses depending on when they chart to make it fairer, but as the 'summer' is on;y 3 months long I have decided not to do bonuses for songs! I calculate this 'songs of the summer' chart from the first chart in June (dated 3.6.22) to the final chart in August (dated 26.8.22)
As I have been adding up the sums, I currently have a rough idea of what the chart looks like so I can put forward the contenders, and I will begin counting down the chart as soon as my Final August chart is published!
The way the posts will be formatted is as follows:
Position: song name - artist name
Total Chart Points [June-August]: xyz
youtube video link
chart run: [if the song had a chart run prior to june, those positions will be in itallic, songs peak is in bold
brief statement/ comment

I have just published my chart for week 19.8.22 so that means there is only next weeks chart to add on and then I will begin the countdown! See you all in a weeks time as I begin the countdown!

#40: HISTORY - Joel Corry & Becky Hill
Total Chart Points [June-August]: 129
Chart run: 6-4-11...
Although it only came out a few weeks ago, HISTORY just makes the top 40! It reached the top 5 and became Becky's 10th Top 10 on my chart!

#39: Something To Someone - Dermot Kennedy

Chart Run: 3-6-9-22-20-22-27-47-35-44-x3-49
2nd single released from Dermot's upcoming 2nd album Sonder, Something To Someone made the top 5, but fell fairly quickly and lacked the longevity of its predecessor Better Days. Hopefully new single Kiss Me can do better as it gets released in a weeks time! (2nd September)

#38: Crying On The Dancefloor - Mabel

A promotional single from Mabel's 2nd album, Crying On The Dancefloor debuted in the chart after one day of release and vaulted into the top 20!

#37: Blonde - Maisie Peters

Chart Run: 1-1-3...
Maisie Peters first of two August releases, Blonde easily debuted at the top of my chart and spent two weeks there... until she was knocked off by herself with latest single Good Enough this week!

#31: Carolina (From The Motion Picture Soundtrack "Where The Crawdads Sing") - Taylor Swift
Total Chart Points [June-August]: 175
Chart Run: 1-8-13-36-29-39
Taylor's 5th #1 and by far worst performing hit, debuted at the top but fell very quickly, impacted by both lack of replay value and a huge album bomb

An album track from Sabrina's album, Nonsense actually debuted the week after the album bomb but has had one of the strongest runs from the album, even for a non-single

songs 40-21 have been counted down! The top 20 begins tomorrow, where i will count down songs 20-11, and then on wednesday the top 10 will be counted!

Mimi's first single release since Good Without to miss the top 10, Goodbye was just one spot off, and had its chart run cut short by an album bomb

Not sure if this is a single, but LOL recieved a music video! It made the top 10 giving Mabel her 5th from this era, and it is still strong in the top 20!

because i liked a boy is the 4th single from Sabrina's 2022 summer album, and it gives her perspective on the media depiction of the alleged love triangle between her, Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett! It is a gorgeous single that deservedly hasn't left the top 10 since its debut there! And stay tuned as there is more Sabrina yet to come as we move into the top 15!

#14: Definition - Mabel

Chart Run: 3-2-1-2-2-5...
An album track from About Last Night that is already the biggest song from the album, it reached #1 in the first week of August and is still yet to leave the top 5! It is easily Mabel's most stable hit to date!

#13: You're Not Harry Styles - Dylan

You're Not Harry Styles has had an extremely strange chart run. It reached the top 10 in the first week of 2022 but fell quickly. And then after Dylan opened (along with Maisie peters) for Ed Sheeran at Wembley, the song had a resurgance 26 weeks after its debut and reached the top 5!

#11: SKIN OF MY TEETH - Demi Lovato

The Lead single from Demi's album HOLY FVCK which released last week, SKIN OF MY TEETH easily debuted in the top 10 and despite falling due to an album bomb, last week it re-peaked!

One of the biggest hits of the year, Crazy What Love Can Do has had a long and stable chart run, and despite all of its weeks in the top 10 occuring before the 'summer period', it is still one of the biggest summer hits!

The biggest hit of 2022 so far, still managed to place #7 in the songs of the summer chart despite half of its chart run not counting! she's all i wanna be has had huge longevity and broke records for the most weeks in the top 3,5 and 10!
