V pleased to see your 'strategy' (i.e. sending an old forgotten UK hit) paying off ~ Drum n bass returning to its stealth dominance of BJSC after the anomaly of 'Heartbeat Loud' flopping.

I have never done an EOY BJSC countdown before as...well, I couldn't be bothered but BJSC has generally been much better for me this year so I feel now's the time, I was gonna wait til after TBO but yeah, I don't wanna wait until March I will run down the top 10 with comment and then reveal the top 50.
So let's the start the TERRA TOP 10 2014 -X- 10. Altyr Muunlinst - Porter Robinson - Sea of Voices BJSC LXX, Points given: 10 I'm not always musically compatible with Altyr as a nation but this was a moment I can very get behind for a reason I can't quite fathom, but no, Un Nouveau Soleil oops I mean Sea of Voices is a magical track with a gloriously building atmosphere and goosebump inducing production. |

9. Utopia - Kye Kye - Honest Affection
BJSC LXI, Points given: 7 I believe this is the song in my top 10 I gave the least amount of points to, and I'm not sure why looking back. Utopia have sent many a fine song but this was particularly wonderful. Sounding a lot like CHVRCHES is always quite a good thing and particularly when it's sung with such emotion and encased with equally fine production. |

8. Persephonia - Kids of the Apocalypse - Empire
BJSC LXI, Points given: 12 I'm still a bit bitter at just how well this did when KOTA were initially MY BABIES (see UP last year), but I can't really say it's undeserved as it's every bit as wonderful and enigmatic as Masters of the Sun, fitted with a suitably graphic and thought provoking video. |

7. Cumulonimbia - Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar
BJSC LXVIII, Points given: 12 One of the more surprising hits of the year considering how 'alternative' and anti-mainstream it sounds, but still wonderful. The Clubbed-to-Death like production works brilliantly with the building atmosphere to create an oddly tense feeling. This post has been edited by FrostytheWallaby: 18th December 2014, 09:35 PM |

'Empire' yas. I still feel a LITTLE guilty about stealing KOTA from you but when I found the song I didn't make the connection between the abbreviation and the full name, and I was already 100% set on it by the time I realised. Still much prefer 'Empire' as a song too as much as I liked 'Masters Of The Sun'
Love 'Honest Affection' and 'Sea Of Voices' too! (I've tried to retrospectively get into 'Un Nouveau Soleil' after seeing comparisons with the latter but it still isn't doing anything for me... Oh this post has turned out rather critical of your songs hasn't it? 'Wolves' is a SONG4LYF, there's some positivity). EDIT: 'Surf Solar' is brill too of course |

6. FARC - SOHN - Artifice
BJSC LXII, Points given: 8 Probably my biggest turnaround in contrast of my opinion now to points given at the time was the winner of it's contest. It's easy to see how it won really - technically 'indie' but remaining accessible as a sad yet frantic & upbeat piece of indie pop. I loved it much more than everything else I heard from him, the commercial sheep I am. This post has been edited by FrostytheWallaby: 18th December 2014, 09:42 PM |

Still much prefer 'Empire' as a song too as much as I liked 'Masters Of The Sun' Tbf, I wouldn't have made the connection instantly, they do sound fairly different from one another! -x- 5. Skall - Christopher Tin feat. Soweto Gospel Choir - Baba Yetu BJSC LXII, Points Given: 10 Second of two glorious discoveries from LXII and the one Skall entry that matched the high quality of their entries last year for me (soz ) was this gorgeous slice of world music. Of all the things you'd never expect to see entered into BJSC it's world classical music, so to see it do well is even better! |

4. Aeroche - Henry Saiz - All The Evil In This World
BJSC LXX, Points Given: 12 Aeroche have sent some beauties to BJSC, but I don't think they've sent anything this good in a long time. I think I told Leww it reminded me of Sprawl II by Arcade Fire, and I can still hear it somewhat. The quite quirky vocals really being used to bring the track to the height of it's emotions and a strong, daunting instrumental which takes off at the last minute - Truly 'EDM' at it's finest <3 |

3. Persephonia - Jay Dabhi & Moises Modesto - Cry For Freedom
BJSC LXVII, Points given: 12 Only two winners feature in my whole top 50 this year, but they are both top 10. Instrumental proper hits are slightly rare in here so it's fab to see one of them can win these days. It will most definitely in my EOY so I could save my commentary on it for then, but simply put - no words possible could make this any more emotional and beautiful than it already is. Gosh Bre, you can be so so good when you're on point. |

2. Cumulonimbia - Max Richter - Spring 1 (Ade Laugee Remix)
BJSC LXV, Points given: 12 I was honestly quite surprised that two different countries each gave me two of my favourite discoveries of the year, but what can I say, you guys are awesome! I love it when sometimes a song comes along that just makes you go 'WOW that's different', and if a electro-bhangra influenced remix of Vivaldi's Spring isn't that, I don't know what is! So wonderfully different, though I was more surprised how well it worked. and finally: 1. Quintessa - Natural Animal - Who You Are BJSC LXIV, Points given: 18 (12 under normal points system) Truly one of the most beautiful and inspiring songs I've had the pleasure of discovering on here. Everything about it - the message, the lyrics, the running keyboard loop fused with strings, the choral sections and even the spoken word samples of Alan Watts' philosophical speech that fit in remarkably well. Just amaze and I was glad to see, against the odds, it didn't perform too badly overall (not near as well as it should've done but anyway), anyway, much <3 and thanks very much for the discovery! I will post my full top 50 later tonight. |

Fantastic top 6 there <3 All of this top 10 bar Kye Kye (and obviously KOTA/Jay Dabhi who would be there if they weren't my own entries) are in my top 50, and Kye Kye did make my full EOY top 150 too.

Syndare – Skogsra – Now You See Me (LXII, 7 Points)) I'm not that consistent with my points and how much I end up loving a song, as you can tell lol, but it's mainly because I'm either lazy and forget to add high pointers to my iTunes or small pointers grow on me more (in the case of Strange Enough, definitely!) I can reveal a fair handful of these made my EOY top 100 this year (to be revealed soon!!11) This post has been edited by FrostytheWallaby: 19th December 2014, 12:40 AM |

The upcoming contest of LXXII will be our 30th contest since joining, and to celebrate we have
We hope you feel as reminiscent as we do when listening to this here's to yet more wonderful contests to come. (I wonder if about 70% of these are remembered by anyone lol) (excuse the dodgy editing/bad quality of some of them, not my forte) |
