tuesdays at 10, on dave

this looks good. i missed series 1 (now regretting it)

it's got greg davies as the host, making comedians do all diffrent things.

might actually be fun..

Posted by: richie 29th June 2016, 01:30 PM

It's an excellent show - the original format debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe. It was devised by co-host Alex Horne (who I guess the producers didn't think was famous enough to host his own show, so they got Davies in)

Series 2 has been real fun so far - Richard Osman, Katherine Ryan, Jon Richardson, Doc Brown and Joe Willkinson all competing against each other in strange little tasks. The best one was "make a music video for a nursery rhyme in one hour".

Series 1 had Frank Skinner, Josh Widdecombe, Romesh Ranganathan, Roisin Conaty and Tim Key.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 6th July 2016, 12:08 PM

Taskmaster is one of my all time favourite shows. Haven't seen last night's yet but am enjoying the series. So far though, I'm not really 'getting' Katherine Ryan - I think Roisin was a lot more entertaining

Posted by: richie 6th July 2016, 01:33 PM

I quite like Katherine Ryan, but yeah took me a while to warm towards her when she first started appearing on TV.

Tim Key is by far my favourite contestant, hope he pops up again in this series as Josh Widdecombe (current champ) guest starred in last night's episode.

Posted by: popchartfreak 6th July 2016, 02:50 PM

Yes I enjoy it too, I like all the contestants, but some do stand out more. Lord Davies and support are fun.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 17th July 2016, 12:42 PM

Funny how Greg has stopped saying "five comedians" and now says "four comedians and Pointless co-host Richard Osman"

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 21st July 2016, 08:25 PM

Favourite moment from the series?

Mine has to be the 'gift' task, however the bridge task with its twist was very clever.

Posted by: richie 25th July 2016, 01:10 PM

I still think the music video for a nursery rhyme task was best of the series. Can't wait for series 3!

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 1st August 2016, 09:39 PM

I absolutely love Taskmaster, and Greg Davies is up there with my favourite comedians. Probably just about preferred the first series, but this was great too. Would agree with Richie that the nursery rhymes were the best, Doc Brown's one moment of the series. Also thought the potato bridge task was excellent. And the entertain a mayor

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 26th September 2016, 08:21 PM

IT'S BACK!

Being taken to task in the upcoming third series are Dave Gorman ( yahoo.gif ), Al Murray, Sara Pascoe, Paul Chowdhry and Rob Beckett.

Posted by: richie 7th October 2016, 07:53 AM

Watched episode 1 last night - Rob Beckett and Al Murray are winning on the lateral thinking so far. Paul Chowdhry seems to be taking the Joe Wilkinson "crap but sometimes brilliant" role this time.

Can't wait for the next one, one of the best shows on TV!

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 19th October 2016, 04:27 PM

I think it's odd with Paul Chowdhry - when I see him do stand up he seems really clever!

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 20th October 2016, 06:05 AM

Wasn't so bothered about the cast for this one but I think they're the best yet which has made this my favourite series of the three. Rob Beckett was the only one I really liked beforehand, but they've all been fantastic. Need to separate Al from The Pub Landlord and Paul is simply hilarious

Series 4 and 5 commissioned with 8 episodes each

Series 4 and 5 commissioned with 8 episodes each

Didn't realise it was that popular ohmy.gif

Posted by: richie 21st October 2016, 09:22 AM

It's well deserved, always been a great format.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 27th October 2016, 10:11 AM

I like the fact that this series they've brought back the tasks that allow them to be creative (like the 'Launch the Pea' task and the clothes task from this week), there seemed to be a lack of that last series

Posted by: Froot. 1st November 2016, 05:49 PM

Just started watching this and its brilliant! Its such a simple premise but that's what helps make the show really and it helps make it one of the funniest and most interesting shows around right now. Will need to catch up on the first two series too!

Those taking part in Series 4 have just been announced: Hugh Dennis, Noel Fielding, Joe Lycett, Lolly Adefope and Mel Giedroyc (from Mel & Sue fame). Not so sure who Lolly is but I think the others will all be interesting and perfect for the show. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how Noel does!

Posted by: richie 2nd November 2016, 03:51 PM

Joe Lycett should be brilliant. Good to see they've got two female comics on this time rather than just one.

Posted by: Doctor Blind 2nd November 2016, 03:58 PM

I can only echo the comments in this thread that this is a joy to watch, last nights was a little disappointing though as Dave Gorman constantly deceives and cheats plus Al Murray keeps basically just paying as much as he needs to in order to win each challenge...

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 5th November 2016, 02:31 PM

Good series on the whole, some interesting tasks and great humour

On the lineup for the next series, I don't know how good Mel will be on it, I have my doubts. Also don't know who Lolly is but we'll see in time.

Posted by: richie 7th November 2016, 08:22 AM

I think Mel will be really good, there's a lot more to her than Bake Off. I don't know Lolly at all either, but hopefully she'll be fun.

Posted by: PeteFromCats 11th April 2017, 09:00 PM

Next series starts on 25th April!

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 4th May 2017, 06:25 AM

Idk if anyone is watching this series? Just seen the first one, it was alright and Hughes drawing of the woman was quite amusing, but there weren't that many opportunities to be logical and find loopholes really.

Posted by: Klaus 4th May 2017, 05:20 PM

Seen both episodes, I agree that the tasks seem a little more off this time. Doesn't seem to be that muchroom for inventiveness and thinking outside the box, but that may just be down to the contestants. They're also getting a bit more complicated what with those elements like 'do this if you pick the same thing as x, do that if you pick same as y'.

Still a really fun watch though!

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 22nd May 2017, 04:28 PM

Catching up, there seems to be more 'hidden secrets' like there was in the second series, just thinking about the chocolate one (bc Ik I would definitely have eaten the chocolate kink.gif )

Posted by: Klaus 14th June 2017, 11:48 AM

Another great series although a few less special moments than the other episodes from other series that I've seen. My highlight is definitely Noel being the banana though! <3 He was definitely a very worthy series winner. Regarding last night's episode, I loved the twist that they had to eat the sandwich, especially with Mel and Noel!

Series 5 will be airing around October but the 'contestants' were revealed last night: Nish Kumar, Sally Phillips, Bob Mortimer, Aisling Bea and Mark Watson! Should be interesting, looking forward to Bob and Aisling in particular.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 28th June 2017, 09:07 PM

Just finished watching - decent series but I'm a little disappointed the 'gift' task didn't appear this series. Loved the 'surprising duck' task - certainly allowed them to be creative! Only familiar with Bob and Aisling from the next series but I hope the others'll be decent

Posted by: Hide&Seek 30th June 2017, 11:49 PM

Did I miss something, or did we not get to see why Mel kept putting the red wax seal things in her pocket ?
All in all, an enjoyable series, and I liked all the players. I'd not seen nor heard of Lolly before.

Posted by: Klaus 13th September 2017, 10:43 AM

Series 5 starts tonight, another 8 part series!

Also just announced is that the winners of all the five series (Josh Widdicombe, Katherine Ryan, Noel Fielding and Rob Beckett plus Series 5 winner) will take part in a two part special to find out the ultimate taskmaster! Such a good idea, very excited for that!

Posted by: Klaus 16th September 2017, 02:35 PM

loved the look of the rainbow task, was very well done!

Can see Nish being annoying though, don't really need to hear him laughing out loud at every tiny thing...

EDIT: wait seems like I've watched the second episode instead of the first!! Not sure why that's already up on UKTV Play but possibly serves me right for not checking, at least I have another episode to watch now kink.gif

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 16th September 2017, 08:56 PM

Loved the first episode! That 'special cuddle' one was really weird though unsure.gif

All five of them seem pretty good atm, Nish looks like he's going to be made the 'stupid one' this series a la Paul Chowdry

Posted by: Hide&Seek 10th October 2017, 06:27 PM

I'm only really liking Sally, and I don't mind Mark (?)

I liked the task where they had to eat/balance/throw from the choices of twiglet/jelly/weetabix.
Aisling choosing to eat the dry Weetabix, and thenSally choosing to throw the jelly ? Whaaaat ?!

The blindfolded task of blowing up the balloon to the circumference of a cucumber (or something) didn't seem like a good task until.....then being asked to spot the differences in the jumbled display smile.gif

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 10th October 2017, 06:37 PM

Agree that the Spot the Difference one was ingenious! Love the fact only one of them realised that the person had changed heehee.gif

Posted by: Hide&Seek 12th October 2017, 06:52 PM

This weeks highlight has to be Sally's water-cooler moment ! ohmy.gif laugh.gif

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 18th November 2017, 06:42 PM

The most recent series was by far the worst, it's still good but the cast was appalling compared to the rest. Watched a repeat of a series 4 episode and it was so much better. Aisling and Nish quite comfortably the two worst contestants they've ever had, for me.

Looking forward to the Champion of Champions episodes before Christmas, involving the 5 series winners.

Posted by: Klaus 24th February 2018, 01:58 PM

omg it has been renewed for FOUR more series which will each have 10 episodes!

I think 10 episodes it possible a bit too much of an overload, I felt 8 for the last two was slightly pushing it.

Anyway, Series 6 airs in the spring with to Alice Levine, Asim Chaudhry, Liza Tarbuck, Russell Howard and Tim Vine!

Very excited for Alice!

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 24th February 2018, 02:03 PM

Interesting line-up! Russell and Tim are my favourites from the lot but I guess I'll have to wait and see how crazy they all are when it starts - 10 episodes though ohmy.gif

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 2nd May 2018, 07:26 PM

Starts again tonight! I won't be watching tonight but I'll try and catch up soon wink.gif

Posted by: ElectroBoy 7th May 2018, 07:52 PM

Watched the first 2 episodes and already so much better than Series 5 which barring Bob and Sally just was meh.

Alice, Liza and Russell are funny and Tim is bizarre enough to be interesting - the safari suit though is WTF?! Asim is nice enough but seemingly useless in most of the tasks

Posted by: Hide&Seek 5th August 2018, 11:46 PM

ooh not much discussion on that last series, but it was the weakest one ! I liked Tim Vine and Liza Tarbuck already, and still do by the end of it.
Didn't take to Russell Howard at all. I'd not heard of the other two.
No, it wasn't great.

Posted by: Klaus 1st September 2018, 10:42 AM

Next series is starting on Wednesday - so soon after the last one (although I guess 10 episode series takes up more of the year laugh.gif)

Line up is:

James Acaster
Jessica Knappett
Kerry Godliman
Phil Wang
Rhod Gilbert

Feel like this could be a good one despite not being overly aware of any of them but Rhod!

Posted by: ElectroBoy 6th September 2018, 11:57 AM

Watched the first episode of the new series yesterday; enjoyed it. Its given me a minor James Acaster obsession over the last 24 hours laugh.gif

I really enjoyed the last series (barring Russell)... it was way better than the series before with Aisling Bea who just isn't funny

Posted by: Handmade Heaven 18th February 2019, 08:16 PM

Next line up is Joe Thomas, Iain Stirling, Paul “The Sinnerman” Sinha, Sian Davies and Lou Sanders.

Looks great, especially Sian Davies, can’t wait fir her! And the actual Sinnerman from the Chase omg

Starts May though sad.gif

Agreed; although I hadn't heard of Lou last series and she was by far my favourite; Iain was just far far far too needy

Looking forward to seeing Jo Brand... and Ed

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 11th September 2019, 05:40 PM

The new series is a good mix from the first episode, reckon I'll grow to like them all on it. Not sure how anything will top Rhod and to a lesser extent James from S7, that series is by far my favourite of them.

My favourite is still S4; Mel, Noel, Joe... the disaster that is Hugh

S7 was a good mix though and I love Kerry (Bosh!) and James too

S8 was a little meh... but he first ep of this series was good of weird and quirky

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 11th September 2019, 07:02 PM

7 & 3 are my favourites, 4 was really good but found Lolly a bit too boring for it to be right up there. The rest have all been decent bar 5 which I thought was dreadful, Bob stood out as the best by miles but in the Champions episodes he wasn't anywhere near as good as the others.

Yeah I wasn't a big fan of 5 as barring Sally and Bob it was a little meh. Although I've warmed to Aisling Bea more after watching This Way Up.

3 is really good though - Al just throwing money at everything laugh.gif

Agreed on all counts smile.gif Series 9 was a massive improvement on Series 8 (which I don't think had a great mix of people - Lou was great though)

Posted by: Popchartfreak 11th November 2019, 08:15 AM

hope it stays on Dave - they are creating original product and deserve the kudos for doing it, and hanging on to it.

Posted by: Klaus 22nd November 2019, 12:22 PM

Confirmed to have gone to Channel 4!

I'm glad it's gone there out of any channel as it's the best fit, and they've already shown with Bake Off that they won't interfere with a successful format. However, I still maintain that it's an absolute perfect fit for Dave. The lack of success for The Button on BBC One shows the danger of being on a full mainstream channel.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 22nd November 2019, 12:34 PM

Had it gone to the BBC, Dave would probably have been showing repeats of it in a few years tongue.gif

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 30th July 2020, 04:43 PM

The line-up for Series 10 has been confirmed as Johnny Vegas and four people I've never heard of.

(Daisy May Cooper, Katherine Parkinson, Mawaan Rizwan and Richard Herring for people who know them!)

Buzzing for Katherine Parkinson and Daisy May Cooper!!

Its been aaaaages and I feared they hadn’t started filming before this whole thing! (I mean it probably has been filmed after but at least we’re actually getting something)

Richard Herring said he started filming his tasks in December and they're just about to film the last studio episode without an audience, so assuming everyone had got their tasks done pre-lockdown and were waiting to be able to film the episodes again.

Is there anywhere to watch all series for free? I watched the Jo Brand series on Dave but am interested in the others smile.gif

Posted by: Klaus 30th July 2020, 07:23 PM

I think UKTV Play still has all the series available?

Posted by: ElectroBoy 1st August 2020, 02:37 PM

Yeah excited for Daisy and Katherine

Can;t stand Johnny

Haven't heard of the other 2... but then I don't think that wholly matters with Taskmaster - so long as they're funny or interesting or a bit weird then it should be good

Posted by: Klaus 1st August 2020, 02:43 PM

Katherine Parkinson reminds me that they're wanting to get Richard Ayoade on which would just be DREAM casting!!

Posted by: Santa Klaus 17th December 2020, 10:27 PM

Aargh gutted for Daisy as they made me laugh the most!! Think Mawaan was robbed in a few tasks throughout the series too and should have been up there.

Really enjoyable series overall, loads of parts made me absolutely howl - particularly hippogate and the watermelon task! I wasn’t expecting Katherine to be so bad either! It’s the funniest entertainment show on TV for me. Although I do have to say the prize tasks were appallingly bad overall.

Series 11 confirmed as well as the cast announced:

Probably contains the least amount that I’ve heard of beforehand, I’m only aware of Lee Mack and Charlotte Richie!! Guess it shows Channel 4 isn’t putting pressure on them e.g attract big names. I wasn’t aware of Mawaan before this series but he became a real favourite so names isn’t everything!

Champion of Champions 2 has also been announced with the winners of 6-10!

ALSO, a one off New Year’s Day treat with John Hannah, Rylan, Shirley Ballas, Nicola Coughlan and Krishnan Guru-Murthy which should be interesting!

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 5th March 2021, 07:57 PM

Series 11 starting on the 18th March! Hadn't seen the line-up until now but twice as many people I know as the last series tongue.gif But I guess that doesn't particularly matter, I did enjoy the last series quite a bit even if I forgot to post in here about it and the New Year's one worked remarkably well as well - I especially enjoyed Rylan ddeliberately trying to find loopholes for every task!

Posted by: Riser 6th March 2021, 01:24 AM

Just discovered this show about a month ago and I absolutely love it! I watched Series 7 and it was impossible to pick a favorite panelist, all five were amazing. I wasn't prepared for just how chaotic it would be laugh.gif Planning to start Series 4 next as recommended by my friend (although she's a Mel and Noel fan whereas I've never watched Bake Off)...after that I'll either watch the rest in order or I'm open to more recommendations.

Posted by: Klaus 6th March 2021, 10:10 AM

Yes, Series 4 is my probably my favourite!! All of them are so funny but Mel & Noel particularly excel on there. Series 5 is another fave due to Bob Mortimer and Sally Phillips. Looking back, Series 10 is actually one of my faves as there were so many times I laughed out loud even though the prize tasks were terrible!

Each series has its highlights though! I don't think it matters if you know the contestants or not, some of my favourites often end up being the ones I'm unfamiliar with such as with Mawaan last series.

It definitely doesn't matter, I loved everyone on Series 7 despite not knowing any of them. wub.gif I just finished 4 (as it turned out, Mel and Noel ended up being my faves laugh.gif) and will watch 5 next, thanks to you and DB for the recommendation.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 20th March 2021, 08:27 AM

Personally series 5 is comfortably the weakest series. Taskmaster is such a fun and easy watch that stands up to multiple viewings and I've watched most at least 3 times over the years but think I gave up midway through a second run of 5. Yes, Bob is great, but I'd say three of the contestants in that series I'd rank in my all time bottom 5 and even he can't save it.

I love Jamali and think he's going to be great in this one, glad he'll be pushed to a new audience. And think Mike could be the start, enjoyed how much love he was getting after the first episode.

Posted by: ElectroBoy 20th March 2021, 08:57 AM

Series 5 has grown on me massively. The weakest for me was 8 - which on rewatches just doesn't have a good mixture of contestants... similarly I enjoyed 6 at the time, but that feels a bit off as well compared to some of the other series.

4 is my fave, however 7, 9 and 10 are up there too.

Although as above there is usually stand out moments in each series.

The current series episode 1 was ok. Mike is great and liked Sarah too. I can't stand Lee Mack in general, but he wasn't too bad here. Jamali didn't really leave an impression and Charlotte seemed nice, but didn't champion or stand up for herself. So she was just weak

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 8th April 2021, 08:13 PM

I'm enjoying this series so far! I think on the first episode it always feels a bit strange when I don't know some of the celebs but you begin to 'get' their personalities as the series goes on. Sarah, Charlotte and Mike all seem like decent comedians and Jamali/Lee who I'm more familiar with are both good as well.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 31st May 2021, 03:43 PM

One episode left for me to watch - I've enjoyed this series, my highlight has to be the running joke that Charlotte is auditioning as a kids TV presenter though!

New series announced featuring Desiree Burch, Alan Davies, Guz Khan, Victoria Coren Mitchel and Morgana Robinson. I actually know four of them this time, yay!

Posted by: ElectroBoy 31st May 2021, 04:02 PM

It took me a while to warm to Series 11 (More so than 10), however by the end really liked Charlotte (who was a little reserved to start with) and I'd warmed to Lee too. Mike and Sarah I liked from the start and then there was Jamali who I didn't know to start with and didn't really like him and that stayed throughout.

Looking forward to Series 12 though!

I feel exactly the same as you.
I really Wanted Charlotte to do well. Fleet feeling sorry for her messing up most of the time.
Didn’t care much for Jamali either.

I’ve seen series 10 & 11 in full on YouTube, and I found out recently that 8 & 9 are on the streaming platform Binge - but I have no way of watching the rest of the show sad.gif. I’m surviving on YouTube clips but I just wanna watch it all laugh.gif
They're all available on the Taskmaster YouTube channel for me...maybe the older series are geoblocked for you? cry.gif

Series 7 is on there for me which I forgot, but other than that there’s nothing 1-6 showing for me

I just use Sky on Demand... or did watch then on Now TV when I first got into it and then binged the first 5 seasons in about a week.

A fun Taskmaster extra:

As a result of reaching 1 million subscribers, the Taskmaster YouTube account has released a previously unseen tie-breaking task.

Done by Series 11, 12 and 13 contestants.

So you get to see how 15 people compared against the same task, it's pretty great:
