Who is excited for the yearly rendneitons of And I Am Telling You and My Heart Will Go On? ohmy.gif

Will the curse of There You'll Be return? laugh.gif

Desperate for Only The Young to do Boom Clap! But it wont happen cry.gif

My favourite week based on the theme. Hoping for some INSPIRED numbers, but i suppose that's asking for a bit much for this show/series lol.

And I Will Always Love You laugh.gif

I hope no-one sings Let It Go but apparently it's been banned so yayyyyy

Posted by: Liаm 21st October 2014, 04:51 PM

Andrea's already performed And I Am Telling You so maybe not that (although Paul did Ghost after OTY sang it at JH) but I'll be astounded if nobody sings One Night Only or Listen laugh.gif

And yeah I heard Simon banned Let It Go from auditions so I doubt he'd un-ban it now. It'd be a good choice for Lola or Lauren though!

Posted by: Regina 21st October 2014, 04:53 PM

Someone to perform That's How You Know or Happy Working Song please smoke.gif

Posted by: sammy01 21st October 2014, 04:53 PM

Unless Stereo Kicks pull off something epic I cant see them not being in the bottom 2 again. The press for them so far this week has been awful with rumours of losing members, leaked nude pics (and not of Barclay which might have actually helped) and the pasting they got on Xtra factor.

Who is ready for a ballad version of Lady Marmalade #cries

Posted by: Jonjo 21st October 2014, 05:18 PM

He probably banned 'Let It Go' because he knew everyone would do it at auditions or something. laugh.gif So now they're in the lives and they can only perform it once (twice depending on if they decide to use it as their "Best Performance of Series" in the final or something) I can't see any reason as to why it'd be banned. Especially if one of the favourites could perform it, it's just too big a song for it not to be included.

I can see Andrea butchering it, or Lauren doing her stuff with it. Hmm... hope someone does get to do it. Would love for it to get help to push it closer and over a million!

I think Chloe would have done a good version of that, shame.

Boom Clap would be perfect for Only The Young. Fleur should do U Know Whats Up wub.gif.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 21st October 2014, 05:43 PM

Let it go for Lauren please
Also a hairspray song, dreamgirls song, my heart will go on and sweeter than fiction are others I want

Posted by: -Jay- 21st October 2014, 07:16 PM

It'd be nice if Celine Dion's 'Because You Loved Me' was chosen instead of 'My Heart Will Go On' (if they use a Celine movie song).

Posted by: dragonleader 21st October 2014, 07:23 PM

I think Only The Young should do what they were going to do last week. "The Power of Love" from Back To The Future.

Alternatively they could do License To Kill.

Posted by: sammy01 21st October 2014, 08:02 PM

OTY need to do something recent, right now they are bordering on 'naff'. I think they are likable and perform well, but they need something cool to sing. Little Mix really took off with doing E.T and Don't let go, although Don't let go is older it is seen as a really cool song. Little Mix also did Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kesha, xtina, Beyonce, Nicki and Bieber.

Notice that list screams modern.

Posted by: FROOT. 21st October 2014, 08:14 PM

Well we know that 'Listen' will be performed.

Another reason for them to do Boom Clap! I agree with those who have said that it would be such a good choice for them!

I have just listened to OTY on the Sarah Jane Crawford show earlier today on BBC 1Xtra. They gave hints for this weeks song:

Blue
Sunglasses
Hats

They haven't confirmed it but I think i figured it out! All Saints - Pure Shores! (from the movie The Beach)

If it is that, OMG, it's a brilliant song! I loved it back in the day and it's still a great song! Hope it's that!

As long as someone doesn't try and ballid it more than it already is.

I can see someone trying to do a ballid version of a Greece uptempo like the new Chanel number 5 advert.

Someone called do Jump and get slated for it.

I'd love someone to do a song from the S Club movie.

If only Blonde Electra were still in they could do Trouble by Shampoo from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie (amazing song, amazing movie)

Posted by: Jack 21st October 2014, 09:18 PM

Yes, Pure Shores could also be an amazing choice for them! wub.gif

Posted by: Hayzayy 21st October 2014, 09:29 PM

Let it go PLEASE wub.gif

Oh and JUMP! of course kink.gif

Posted by: ►▲N 22nd October 2014, 11:35 AM

what a shame Chloe is now out. Movie week would've really suited her actually

Pure Shores would be a good choice for OTY I think, or any other song that doesn't sound dated

Posted by: THEO. 22nd October 2014, 12:11 PM

I'm actually really surprised at how Only The Young have lasted so long with two utterly abysmal song choices for the live shows thus far. I especially thought they were going this week after hot male brown hair one seemed to refuse to sing a couple of his lines and their retorts to the judges post-performance. Hopefully they'll finally sing something contemporary, they were my favourites before the lives started and now they're just...eh.

Posted by: sammy01 22nd October 2014, 02:28 PM

Oh god not Pure Shores it is an utterly dull song, OTY are all about energy and fun.

Posted by: euro music 25th October 2014, 11:16 AM

I think Bryan Adams - Everything I Do would be good for Ben!

Posted by: JohnnyCartersBoy 25th October 2014, 06:18 PM

Just heard OTY's song for tonight (As all of the songs are up on itunes now) and OMG!!! I cant wait! smile.gif

Jake is this years Sam Callaghan by far

he's also flat

Posted by: Dobbo 25th October 2014, 07:08 PM

Pretty weak vocal, and failed at that falsetto...

Posted by: sammy01 25th October 2014, 07:08 PM

I really feel for Jake because this is so obvious setting him up to fail.

Posted by: Liаm 25th October 2014, 07:09 PM

Omg that painful attempt at the big "key change" rotf.gif Such a bland and just "there" performance, he has very little presence.

01 Jake Quickenden - She's Like The Wind 2/10

Posted by: JosephStyles 25th October 2014, 07:09 PM

02.0 Jake Quickenden

Posted by: Sean. 25th October 2014, 07:09 PM

I think that is what is annoying me, it is beyond obvious he is being targeted. I kind of hope it backfires this week and people feel sorry for him. The thing I think makes me uneasy about it is he isn't stupid and must know they are doing it too.

Posted by: -Jay- 25th October 2014, 07:15 PM

As ever, if he was any good then he wouldn't be targeted. He just did a completely woeful performance and absolutely deserves to go. Besides, they've plugged his shirtless pictures twice tonight, at least they're displaying the talents he does have.

Posted by: werewolfPL 25th October 2014, 07:15 PM

Boring and pretty much awful. Bye Jake. You can give me that personal training anytime you want though.

1.5/10 - Jake

Posted by: sammy01 25th October 2014, 07:17 PM

Well this is just as flat and shit as Jake, I knew this song choice would be dire.

Posted by: Davidson 25th October 2014, 07:18 PM

Only The Young - Just can't get on board with them at all. Each of the solos were very flat and when they sing together it was very uninteresting. Disappointing. - 4.5/10.0

Only The Young - 4.5
Jake Quickenden - 2.5

Posted by: Dobbo 25th October 2014, 07:19 PM

This really wasn't as good as I was expecting, but I'm just glad it's not a dull lifeless ballad like 75% will be tonight.

A bit disappointed with OTY. I was expecting much better with this brilliant song choice.

Posted by: J▼hnkm 25th October 2014, 07:21 PM

Hat chorus did not sound live at all, especially not compared with the totally out of tune verses

Posted by: Liаm 25th October 2014, 07:21 PM

Eek. That was certainly not a Little Mix moment... It wasn't terrible but the blond girl especially was pretty bad in the verses. The chorus was pretty good but perhaps they're better off with their fun/cheesy side!

01 Only The Young - Boom Clap 6/10
02 Jake Quickenden - She's Like The Wind 2/10

Well I don't watch X factor thinking everything just happens as it happens. To me it is all staged and manipulated in as many ways as they can to get the votes/results the producers/Simon want.

I could never just sit and watch something like X factor and take it at face value.

Jay James is seriously camper than me.

This is utterly painful from Jay, totally out of his vocal range.

Sadly I'm finding him hotter each week though #helpme

Posted by: Dobbo 25th October 2014, 07:25 PM

By contrast, this was a lot better than I thought it would be. Credit where it's due, decent performance.

Jay: just average.

Posted by: ►▲N 25th October 2014, 07:27 PM

Jake Quickenden was really awful. It would be a big manson.gif moment if he got through this round.

Only The Young were okay, slightly better than last 2 weeks but they still don't excite me as much as they should.

Jay James, that wasn't as bad as I feared but the song was too big for him and he just gave a dull performance.

6.0/10 Only The Young
4.5/10 Jay James
3.0/10 Jake Quickenden

Posted by: sammy01 25th October 2014, 07:28 PM

Turn it into your version? Didn't he just copy the Adele version Simon?

Posted by: Liаm 25th October 2014, 07:28 PM

Absolutely horrific. Dull is not the word... He just doesn't have the vocals; his voice is too weak. And no Simon, he just gets WORSE. Also, why does he ALWAYS have to mention his military background and his bloody family? drama.gif If Hanna Barrett was bottom 2 with her brilliant rendition last year, Jay should be straight out of the competition... I don't wanna jump into the conspiracy theories but it seems so scripted with only Cheryl giving him bad comments despite him giving 3 absolutely horrific performances in a row.

3/10 - Jay James
1.5/10 - Jake

Posted by: HausofAquarius 25th October 2014, 07:38 PM

Decent but we've seen this song performed SO many times on the show and this doesn't rank close to being the best. Predictable and not even pulling it off how he should. Far too loud at the end.

MUCH better than last week. It wasn't "INCREDIBLE!!1!1" or anything because that's a song that has performances by Alexandra Burke and Melanie Amaro that define talent show brilliance and not many singers can live up to those. Of all big diva ballads though, they really could have chosen something less cliche!

Andrea has the voice, he's doing it the way he wants I guess with these songs and tbh these sorts of songs are what he would do after the show too. Will it be enough though.

We'll I for one thought Andrea was amazing!

Andrea this week was definitely an improvement from last week!

I think the main reason I don't like him is just because everyone bums him so much, which is a silly reason, but eh.

Hmm, Lola was good enough but some parts were a bit ropey... She has a great tone and potentially an amazing voice but that wasn't the best she can be. Still pretty lovely though. She just needs to work on her presence, I hope she gets a non-ballad song soon... I think Son Of A Preacher Man would have been great for this week!

Lola and Jay could well be in trouble, I don't see either as having a big fanbase that vote for them whatever they sing or sound like, I think they are very performance dependent and neither did well.

So far I'd not be surprised if any of Jake, OTY, Lola or Jay are bottom 2.

If Lauren gets flack for always turning songs into ballads to suit her, the same can be said for Jack turning songs into an Ed Sheeran uptempo to suit him surely? Having said that, that was a good-ish performance, his voice was lost in the instrumental a bit at times though. I just find myself a bit bored by him sometimes.

Very true, he is very hypocritical at times! Like moaning about Kids In America not fitting to the theme in week 1 yet I distinctly remember his jibes at Louis being picky in Series 7 (mentioning the "rulebook")

Google has provided me with some interesting Jake Sims images

Posted by: Ryan. 25th October 2014, 08:51 PM

Stereo Kicks were nothing special and it's making me laugh at how much the producers and the judges are seemingly throwing everything at them from the VT introducing them separately (again!) to the over-the-top judges reaction to the staging lighting them up individually to try and get them votes and support and people to invest in them!

Posted by: ►▲N 25th October 2014, 08:56 PM

very uninspired song choice but he does a good job of it. not a fan of that note before the final chorus though mellow.gif but at least he's doing vocal challenges and not playing it too safe

Vocally sound but the performance didn't excite me in any way. Inevitably will be in the iTunes top 10 though...

Posted by: Davidson 25th October 2014, 08:57 PM

Ben Haenow - I love Ben but this wasn't for me. I far prefer his vocals when more on the soulful side and that was missing for me this week. He did sing it well apart from the money note though which was a bit wobbly. - 7.5/10.0

That was alright, he had no connection but sang it very well.

Posted by: Liаm 25th October 2014, 08:59 PM

What on earth were they listening to?! The vocals were painful, I'm sorry but he just growls and sounds like he needs a good cough. It was just a hugely inferior karaoke version of the original. I just don't get his appeal at all, he looked really bored, nervous and uncomfortable throughout :/ I can definitely see that being the highest on iTunes though, it'll be him or Lauren.

01 Fleur East - Lady Marmalade 10/10
02 Lauren Platt - Let It Go 10/10
03 Paul Akister - Try A Little Tenderness 9/10
04 Andrea Faustini - Listen 8/10

Tonight was terrible, I'd say only Paul performed above the average set for each contestant. Andrea was his usual good vocals self. The rest was awful for the most part. OTY and Stevi bottom 2 please cus that would be interesting as to who would be saved.

Posted by: April 25th October 2014, 09:04 PM

01. Only The Young (9/10)
02. Lauren Platt (8/10)
03. Fleur East (8/10)
04. Jack Walton (8/10)
05. Stereo Kicks (7.5/10)
06. Andrea Faustini (5.5/10)
07. Ben Haenow (5.5/10)
08. Paul Akister (5/10)
09. Jay James (5/10)
10. Lola Saunders (4.5/10)
11. Stevi Ritchie (1/10)
12. Jake Quickenden (0.5/10)

When Stevi isn't the bottom contestant - you must be seriously bad! The biggest improvement this week was from Stereo Kicks easily. The biggest 'drop' in quality was probably Lola - very boring and uneventful. Most below average - hence the majority of acts I marked under 6/10. The top 5 were good, but unspectacular again this week.

Posted by: Jack 25th October 2014, 09:05 PM

Fleur was the only one who really brought it this week I think. Only The Young, Jack, Lauren and Stereo Kicks were all pretty good too.

The rest are just so so bad or just good but boring (Lola, Andrea, Ben).

Fleur East 10/10
Jack Walton 9.5/10

Andrea Faustini 6.5/10
Lola Saunders 6/10
Paul Akister 6/10
Ben Haenow 6/10
Stevi Ritchie 5.5/10
Jay James 4.5/10
Jake Quickenden 4/10

Well that DRAGGED tonight. Apart from the top 4 who just ran away with it for me, it was the usual snoozefest the show has become in the past few years.

Can we have a QUADRUPLE elimination please??

My votes:

2x Lauren (really love her)
1x Fleur (for the rap *.*)
1x Stereo Kicks (quite enjoyed the first half of this)
1x Only The Young (loved parts of this and so badly want a mixed pop band back in the charts)

6 Only The Young

Paul was my 2nd favourite but Lola needs my votes more and she's normally better. Fleur was my favourite of tonight easily and so got 3 votes.

Facebook likes for the pics of each performance, after 40 mins of the show being over:

Andrea Faustini 13.6k
Lauren Platt 10.4k
Fleur East 9k
Lola Saunders 7.7k
Ben Haenow 7.3k
Jay James 7.1k
Paul Akister 6.9k
Jake Quickenden 3.8k
Stevi Richie 3.7k
Jack Walton 3.2k
Only The Young 1.7k
Stereo Kicks 1.4k (split across three pictures?! Would probably be higher if there was just one idk)

I know they've shown to be less reliable at predicting the bottom 2 than there were shown to be in the Aussie version (more or less every week they were bang on), but it's interesting to see how they correlate with the bottom 2. I'll do an update tomorrow.

Well they got the bottom 2 to go spot on last week. Tbh it is a toss up between the bottom 5 this week.

They're definitely gonna stretch the boundaries of the theme next week like when Craig sang Set Fire To The Rain (how exactly is that Hallowe'en-based?)

Posted by: sammy01 25th October 2014, 10:03 PM

Interesting that on xtra factor Jack has said the issue they had is they wanted him to dance and perform and rip his shirt open at the end of the song and he wouldn't do it. Seems weird to be taking the moral high ground when he has just done a naked shoot and doing a bit of performance and dancing wouldn't hurt him tbh.

Posted by: HausofAquarius 25th October 2014, 10:03 PM

The Mel / Jack drama was apparently about his performance. They wanted him to have his shirt ripped open and make it more of a performance but he was against it. Good on him not wanting to use his body to sell the performance~

I guess the judges would criticise the shirtless in performance yet be more lenient on it being in the introductory video.

Stevi could do anything and the judges would merit it on grounds of being a performance. Jack is vocally better than Jake so I can see why Mel would rather him do the stripping and not Jake laugh.gif

Ghost was already done by Paul in week 1 and OTY at judges' houses, I don't need it again as fab as the original is kink.gif Yaaaass at Haunted, Stay and E.T. though, particularly Haunted!

-----

Omg imagine Chloe slaying us with Gloomy Sunday on Halloween week *.*

Some suggestions from me:

Lauren - Zombie by The Cranberries (even if it was a piano version, I'd love to see her do the original though and show another side. It's not as if her voice is so weak she's confined to just slowed down songs. It would be good if she did the piano version like Mel's act from Aussie X-Factor 2011 Christina Parie - aka KYA from my BJSC hit What I Live For kink.gif)
Lola - Stay by Shakespear's Sister (I know it's wheeled out most years and it's another ballad but it'd be such a moment!)

Andrea - I Put A Spell On You by Nina Simone (still slow-ish but out of his comfort zone, just not so far out it'd be a mess. It has that soulful vibe to it that he could really shine with, especially with a jazzy song you wouldn't expect. He wouldn't have to "shout" either tongue.gif)
Paul - Thriller by Michawl Jackson (idk what else and someone is bound to sing this)
Jake - Demons by Imagine Dragon
Jack - Bad Things by Jace Everett

Only The Young - Gives You Hell by All American Rejects (going back to the fun vibe for a safe week after they took a risk and it probably hasn't paid off)
Stereo Kicks - Hungry Like The Wolf by Duran Duran

Fleur - Dark Horse by Katy Perry or Black Widow by Iggy Azalea
Stevi - Bat Out Of Hell by Meatloaf
Ben - Supermassive Black Hole by Muse
Jay - Mad World by Gary Jules (you just know this will happen)

I know most of those are tenuously linked to Halloween, I just used songs about black, night, bats, cats, monsters, witches etc. laugh.gif

Haha yeah Lola was awful tonight especially! I loved her at judges houses for some reason but in the lives she's been such a bore.

Paul was surprisingly my favourite by far tonight! Don't usually like him at all but thought he was so so good tonight. I guess the song choice helped but still 👌

I want to marry Jay James wub.gif But he must promise to never sing again.

Posted by: Calum Hood 25th October 2014, 11:07 PM

First off, Jack's VT. My favourite human. Thank you. wub.gif

09.0 Ben Haenow · Surprise of the night for me. Apart from the high note which was just a tad iffy, everything else about that performance was really rather fabulous! Starting to love his voice more, hope he keeps surprising me from now on~ (helps that he's also v nice looking as well x)
08.0 Stereo Kicks · Big improvement on last week, although it's really starting to seem like they have the one lead vocalist (his name escapes me), and the rest are just support acts coming along for the ride. Doesn't help that he's so awkward to watch as well. But yes, enjoyable performance. I like when people make shit songs at the very least listenable.
00.0 Stevi Ritchie · Louis in on point comment shocker.
10.0 Jack Walton · Flawless performance once again, great song choice and a stunning version. WINNER *.*
09.5 Fleur East · Very impressed with her tonight! By far her best performance to date, the voice, the performance, she had the whole package. Now just comes the worry that she won't get votes for being overly sexual (which I don't think was really the case... she just BROUGHT IT). *claps* job well done.
06.5 Lauren Platt · The whole thing was all a bit flat for the first half really. A bit boring as well? Just glad she gave it all towards the end otherwise it would have been a travesty from start to finish.
08.0 Lola Saunders · There's something about that performance I'm not keen on? Still, she has the better and stronger voice out of herself and Lauren BY FAR, but it was obviously a bit shaky at parts tonight. Still a strong vocal towards the end though. Hoping she can keep improving.
00.0 Andrea Faustini · Overrated shit.
02.0 Paul Akister · The voice just really grates on me, like someone dragging nails down a blackboard. Otherwise it was a very microscopic improvement on last week.
00.0 Jay James · Is it Simon's honest intention to keep allowing Jay to destroy songs every week? This was awful, no passion in it at all, dull, no substance in it at all. Really hoping he does a Kye Sones and leaves earlier than expected, but I'm guessing we'll be stuck with him for a while yet. *sighs*
09.5 Only the Young · LOVE LOVE LOVE. Amazing performance of one of the best songs from one of the BEST films. Don't get some of the comments from the judges? Anyway, great performance and I really hope they go far! (Charlie remains cute as ever ph34r.gif)
07.0 Jake Quickenden · Didn't love that as much as previous performances from him, but it was still enjoyable. Just really hoping he and Mel will decide to go for something a bit more up-tempo sometime soon though because it's going to hinder him if he sticks to ballads all the time. But yeah, still love him.

And sorry, but Lauren really is a Jacqueline Jossa clone.

Posted by: Jack 25th October 2014, 11:12 PM

Yes Calum, Charlie is adorable wub.gif

Posted by: sammy01 25th October 2014, 11:23 PM

I'm not sure who will go tomorrow, I feel the producers would be happy with Jake going and he didn't help himself but the judges comments went a bit OTT, especially Simon's who could easily rally his fans to vote more.

Jack is another candidate but he seems to be generally liked, but he gave a bad performance and the revelation that he might be difficult to work with for Mel wont help.

OTY were weak as hell, but the judges comments weren't overly negative to make people feel sorry for them or rally the vote. They could be in danger but maybe their past performances will save them.

Stevi got a nicer later slot but it feels like it is wearing thin and I think going by fb likes and stuff he is only just above the safe zone the last 2 weeks, is the novelty wearing off?

I think it is between those 4, Stereo Kicks got everything in their favour tonight, Lola will probably survive from past performances being better.

I think you're really underestimating Only The Young, and I think "weak as hell" is harsh (even though I respect that this is your opinion). There were many worse performances than theirs tonight. I concede that their verses were shaky but everything else was fine? I could be wrong, but I hardly see Louis losing 3 acts within the first 3 weeks. Anyway, I think/hope that they'll be around for a while longer.

I'm pretty convinced that it will be one of Mel's boys who goes tomorrow. Most likely Jake, who in all fairness does deserve to go after that pretty awful performance he gave. I even found Stevi to be mildly more enjoyable than him this week!

I don't think I've seen people talk about X Factor performances in terms of "the best/worst slots" before this series. Is there any evidence based on past series that a particular slot in the running order = death knell? Unless anyone is bothered to come up with the proof, it seems to me like a bit of an excuse! If it's actually a thing, then it shouldn't have much impact this year given that you can vote before the first person has performed.

While I'm sure there is some manipulation that goes on from the producers, I'm not really buying any of the "bad treatment" that Jake/Stephanie and whoever else has supposedly had. Generally I feel like it's a level playing field, and if those 2 in particular actually sang very well then they wouldn't get bad comments from the judges. Jake has deserved the critique he has received.

I am living for the Cheryl backlash I keep seeing on Twitter tbh *.* agree 100% with everyone saying that she's just being a moaning faced little cow this year, thinking she's all that.

I laughed at her comment to Fleur tonight as well... Saying she respected how she did the whole singing and dancing and rapping all at once thing, or whatever it was. Bet you wish you could do that too without miming your way through it, eh?

Yeah it has been discussed quite a lot, however I think the other year we had voting from the start of the show rather than after everyone sang it through things off.

Posted by: Rooney 25th October 2014, 11:57 PM

Yes in the past going last was a massive advantage, because voting started at the end of the show. Now you can vote from the beginning, I don't think it matters as much. I'm sure throughout the many series, it took 9 series (I think?) before the contestant that performed last was ever in the bottom two, whereas the person who went first was more often than not in the bottom two.

Only this year X factor and Strictly clash for 20 mins the last 2 weeks so the first 2 performers are at a huge disadvantage, as we have seen ratings wise when they clash Strictly wins.

The first week they clashed for 65 mins and during that 65 mins Strictly averaged 9.04m, X factor averaged 6.54m during the clash.

Only saw a couple of perfs (been at work but I saw Fleur, OTY & Lauren via the app) all 3 were at least, "good". Fleur was WOW! OTY didnt disappoint me (probably because I had a feeling the comments they received on here, were gonna be like that "good, but thought it'd be better" etc..) they were really good (bar a couple of issues) and Lauren was "good". Nothing more, nothing less. I find her really dull though! :/

With Twitter there's always as much love as there is hate, and I've certainly seen a lot of people on Twitter loving her / agreeing with her comments, some even "hating" that they agree with her. I actually think that she has talked quite a bit of sense this year, particularly in the lives. I'm not just saying that because she's a fave~ because there's been times over the years she's been on The X Factor when she's really infuriated me with her comments. She is as entitled to her opinions as any of the other judges though.

I thought Cheryl's comments about Fleur were fair! She deserved that critique. It is pretty rare that a contestant on The X Factor is as well-rounded as Fleur is. She has a good voice, she can rap very well, she can dance (her choreography is above and beyond what the others are doing) and overall she performs in such an effortless way, it's like she's been a pop star for many years. It's refreshing! I'm glad Cheryl recognized that and said what she said. I hope Fleur is in the competition for a long time, but I fear she'll be gone far too soon.

I find the quips about Cheryl's own abilities that some people love to make constantly quite unfair! 12 years in the game and she's still getting #1s, so she must be doing something right. She's had a career that 99% of the people who audition on X Factor could only dream of achieving themselves, so I think she has more than earned her place on the panel and is within her rights to comment on the potential of those who are up-and-coming. Her own level of talent shouldn't make all of her critiques worthless. Do you have to be a great singer to be able to judge singers? I don't think that's necessary, otherwise Louis and Simon wouldn't be there. The same goes for Mel (I know you haven't mentioned her, this is a separate comment). It's so annoying to see some people on Twitter disregard her opinions because she's supposedly a "has-been". sad.gif Some people don't seem to appreciate just how huge she made it with the Spice Girls, which I find so weird. She was in a group that was about as big as you could hope to be, so she's been there and done it, so I think she is a very worthy judge. 18 years on and I don't believe Mel has ever been more relevant in a solo capacity! heart.gif I don't understand why the female judges on these shows get so much stick, but the male judges don't tend to face the same level of scrutiny.

Posted by: Liаm 26th October 2014, 02:30 AM

Cheryl and Mel speak a hell of a lot more sense than Louis or Simon for sure. For example, Cheryl is the only one who doesn't wet herself ad neauseam over Jay's hideously boring performances and she was spot on about Stereo Kicks last week. I don't see how being more outspoken than she was in 2010 makes her a "moaning faced little cow" personally, when people moaned she was too nice during her first stint as a judge. If it was Kylie, Katy Perry or someone else who's more widely liked than Cheryl, nobody would bat an eyelid at what's said. People on here aren't as bad but I see a lot more hate than love for her on Twitter :/ I love both her and Mel as judges though.

As for half of twitter calling Cheryl out on her lack of talent, they need to see Mel B singing live on X Factor Australia alongside Guy Sebastian, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Ronan Keating! Absolutely embarrassing, especially in comparison to the other three who are incredible live vocalists (particularly Natalie which really surprised me). But both are (were in Mel's case I guess kink.gif) huge popstars, part of iconic girl groups, they know what they're doing and what it takes to be a star. You don't have to have the vocals of Whitney Houston to know that, god knows there are millions of people watching and commentating who can't hold a tune, are their opinions any less valid?

Of course Louis has always been just a bit bonkers but Simon is pretty bad as a judge now too I think... He doesn't seem to let Cheryl have her opinion at all, especially if it goes against his. But that's the whole point of a panel, for them to have their views, which naturally will differ. Four judges with potentially four different viewpoints gives each acts lots to take on board. If they all said exactly the same to every act, nobody would progress or get better as much as they should.

Posted by: -Jay- 26th October 2014, 02:54 AM

I think Mel is incredibly out of practice! She was a lot better live during the 90s, a very confident performer (she would sound amazing singing 'Viva Forever'/'Goodbye' etc), but her more recent performances are pretty bad. kink.gif In a way Fleur reminds me a bit of Mel B during her first solo album era back in 2000/2001, in terms of image/performances!

2 x Only The Young (I think they're in trouble tonight)
1 x Stevi (I want him to stay for another week at least)

Jake
Jack
Only The Young
Lola

This was broached further on the Xtra Factor but the answer given still seems bizarre. It seems that the original idea was for Jack to rip open his shirt during the performance, but he refused to do it. I'd be a bit surprised if this alone is what annoyed Mel though?

To be fair I would like to see him performing without the guitar. Or at least do something other than standing still while playing said guitar! Some people can be very charismatic while playing an instrument. Taking off the "he's fit" loon glasses (which is something I need to remove too x) he isn't a particularly captivating performer. He needs to step up or else he'll be going quite soon.

YouTube likes:

1. Stereo Kicks – 6,357
2. Andrea Faustini – 5,058
3. Lauren Platt – 3,831

I don't understand that, how come Mel is so annoyed at Jake using his body to sell himself as a contestant and yet when Jack doesn't want to use his body to sell himself as a contestant she's visibly annoyed? laugh.gif There must be something more. Tbf just having him rip his top off is needless really, it worked for Olly Murs (not just because I fancy him way more than Jack kink.gif) because he has that fun/cheeky vibe but that's not necessarily what Jack is about so it just seems like Mel is having one rule for Jack and another for Jake!

I don't think it's just the shirt ripping thing. I agree about Jack! I'm one of his biggest fans but even i think he needs to shift it up a bit soon. He's shown he has a lovely voice, but it would be good for him to step out of his comfort zone and "perform" next week. The only way to set voters alight is if you can take that huge risk AND pull it off, rather than coasting along safely week-by-week. I'm confident he can pull it off too..

That's how I feel. I have never voted for anyone before but voted for him this week just because the way he has been treated as the sacrificial lamb this week would be lol if he stayed. Can you imagine the panic by producers if he isn't in the bottom 2. This could be Rylan being in the bottom 2 first week again with the producers clearly telling Louis to save Rylan.

Stevi vs OTY would be interesting, or Stevi vs Jack, let's see how much they want to keep Stevi in.

I don't think he really needs to though. Obviously on a show like this you need a bit of versatility else you're going to get slaughtered, but he clearly has adopted his own style that he seems to have found, he's stuck to it, and it's what he's good at. His voice alone makes his performances as fabulous as they are, and there definitely is a lot he can do with it. Personally, I'd rather see contestants stick to their guns and be true to what type of performer they are rather than prove that they can be (or at the very least attempt to be) a Jack-of-all-trades (unintentional pun).

Andrea Faustini · 21.89%

Paul Akister · 8.98%
Ben Haenow · 7.36%

Lola Saunders · 3.86%
Jack Walton · 3.18%

Posted by: Hayzayy 26th October 2014, 08:18 PM

No one was here for an unknown OneRepublic song. sad.gif

Posted by: HausofAquarius 26th October 2014, 08:19 PM

SO nervous for Only The Young and Jack.

I would literally break down if they made up the bottom two mellow.gif but any combination of them plus another would be heartbreaking. Jake and Stevi PLEASE.

Posted by: Calum Hood 26th October 2014, 08:19 PM

Jay leaving tonight really would be fabulous.

Posted by: ►▲N 26th October 2014, 08:20 PM

that OneRepublic song was super dull and forgettable just like I expected. And with Ed Sheeran yet to come it's not going to get any better performance wise, yawn

Posted by: Hayzayy 26th October 2014, 08:21 PM

Jay is a tad annoying but I do like him performance wise.

Posted by: Danny 26th October 2014, 08:21 PM

Ardently hoping for a Jay and Lauren bottom 2.

Posted by: AdamAloud 26th October 2014, 08:21 PM

So long as Fleur/Only The Young/Lauren/Jack are safe I'll be happy, the rest I can all gladly leave to be honest.

My best case scenario would be a Jay/Jake bottom 2. Jake going and knock Jay down a peg or two.

cheryl would quite literally shit herself if that happened.

Posted by: Liаm 26th October 2014, 08:24 PM

If Jay is bottom 2 it has to be with a no hoper like Jake or Stevi. If Lola was bottom 2 with him and pushed her out, it'd be awful. I'd rather he wasn't bottom 2 at all in that case laugh.gif I know she wasn't great last night and she's a bit boring but I don't want her to go yet.

Stevi gets a lot of abuse for having a weird face and doing weird dance moves, but he's actually a good vocalist. Far better than Jake for example.

Erm wot?

Posted by: Danny 26th October 2014, 08:24 PM

OK, starting to believe the conspiracy theories about Jake being stitched up by the producers now after those comments...

MUTE MUTE MUTE MUTE MUTE

Posted by: Jack 26th October 2014, 08:25 PM

I really think it will be someone fairly popular vs Stevi and Stevi will stay sad.gif. I can just see it. I bet it will be Only The Young or Jack as well.

Posted by: J▼hnkm 26th October 2014, 08:26 PM

He has all the charisma of a mushroom

Posted by: gooddelta 26th October 2014, 08:26 PM

The crowd need to shut the hell up!

Posted by: Liаm 26th October 2014, 08:26 PM

In fairness Stevi sounded quite god in the group performance tongue.gif and I'd rather listen to/watch him than Jake, Ben or Jay, genuinely! I don't actually think he's funny or entertaining or anything, but at least him/the judges acknowledge he's a joke which I prefer to overhyped acts like Jay or Ben if that makes sense?

Don't even JOKE about that Jack :///

Did anyone feel like Simon mentioning Lola was because he might know she is bottom 2 and going to be saved and he is getting the excuse in early as to why she is there/going to be saved?

I have no idea what he is singing, but a CHOIR and LIGHTS is not a winning combo chezkm. Flush.

Can't believe Only The Young are in the bottom two - they were the best of the night! If Jake doesn't go now...

Posted by: Martyn 26th October 2014, 08:42 PM

I didn't think they would save Jake till last again. I can see Only The Young going out

Posted by: -Jay- 26th October 2014, 08:42 PM

Posted by: Parallel Reality 26th October 2014, 08:42 PM

Posted by: J▼hnkm 26th October 2014, 08:42 PM

Bye Jake. You deserved to go last week.

Posted by: Calum Hood 26th October 2014, 08:43 PM

LOVE Jake so much, but surely Only the Young have to be safe here? Such a shame too as they've had it in for Jake since the beginning. :/

Posted by: sammy01 26th October 2014, 08:43 PM

That advert was so odd?

Posted by: Maurice Horan 26th October 2014, 08:43 PM

Jake will be gone.

Posted by: Martyn 26th October 2014, 08:43 PM

I really hope Jake gets saved, but I can't see them having two judges with 4 acts and 1 judge only having one act.

Looks like we won't get a group winner this year then.

Posted by: Jack 26th October 2014, 08:43 PM

I will kill a bitch if Jake goes through over Only The Young.
