THIS WEEK'S #1

After narrowly missing out in its first week, Run The Jewels' 'JU$T' (feat. Pharrell Williams and Zack De La Rocha) rises a place to #1 in its second week. This marks the first #1 for all three artists in the Bré Forté 2.0 era but it's RTJ's second #1 overall following 'Oh My Darling Don't Cry' and the 6th for Pharrell, all but one of which have been features (he previously guested on #1s from Swedish House Mafia ('One (Your Name)'), Daft Punk ('Get Lucky'), Robin Thicke ('Blurred Lines'', also featuring T.I.) and Missy Elliott ('WTF (Where They From)'), while also hitting #1 with his own 'Marilyn Monroe'). I am long overdue making a full update to the list of artists with the most #1s in my chart but piecing together from the last time I updated the list in January 2016 I believe only Coldplay and Lorde beat this (with 7 each), while Chase And Status and Kanye West each also have 6 #1s. Run The Jewels continue to hold two of the top 3 this week as 'walking in the snow' is a non-mover at #3.

IN THE TOP 10

ROSALÍA and Travis Scott slip to #2 after a week at the top with 'TKN'. Everything Everything resume having two songs in the top 5, as 'Arch Enemy' holds at #4 while 'In Birdsong' climbs back up three places to #5 in its 8th week in the top 10. As such there are only three different lead artists in the top 5, which was also the case two weeks ago (though with 2 Lady Gaga songs rather than 2 Run The Jewels songs). Vacant falls one place to #6 with 'Hidden' (thankfully another qualifier in BJSC, yay), Foster The People move back up one place to #8 with 'Lamb's Wool' and Alec Benjamin falls three to #9 with 'Match In The Rain'.

THIS WEEK'S HIGHEST NEW ENTRY

Jorja Smith has always been a somewhat hit or miss artist for me but she has a clear hit (for me, not in real life x) this time around with her newest release 'Rose Rouge', a cover of a 2000 song by jazz artist St Germain, which has been released as the lead single from a forthcoming compilation of jazz covers on Blue Note Records. Really loving the smooth classy vibe of the track and I think Jorja's voice fits the style perfectly, would love to see her go down a more jazzy direction for her own next album if this is anything to go by. The song debuts at #7 to claim this week's highest debut, a big splash for what is actually Jorja's first ever appearance in one of my personal charts (as her best previous material came out at a time when I wasn't doing charts).

OTHER NEW AND RETURNING ENTRIES

There is one further new entry in the top 10, as Woodkid (of 'Run Boy Run' fame) launches at #10 with the cinematic 'Pale Yellow', also making his first chart appearance in the Bré Forté 2.0 era after the previous single 'Goliath' fell just short of my top 40. There aren't any album bombs this week but two songs do make debuts following the BJSC 125 semi-final results as they sadly DNQed - Fljótavík's entry 'Long Way Back' by Pearl The Girl (our 12 pointer in the semi-final) debuts at #14 while Skall's Legowelt goes in at #25 with 'Disco Rout'.

Other new entries this week: WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA-esque zany Japanese dnb/rap banger 'RUN AWAYS' by m-flo and chelmico (of recent BJSC entry 'Easy Breezy' fame) debuts at #15; Irish post-punk favourites Fontaines D.C. make their first breakthrough in my charts with the moody 'I Don't Belong' in at #20; two former Jadakissnia BJSC artists make their chart debuts with BÖ debuting at #21 with trap banger 'Karantinam' (feat. Elisha) while their contest winning artist Rompasso appears at #30 remixing 'Trap' by SAINt JHN in a clear attempt to recreate the virality of the 'Roses' remix by Imanbek, certainly it's not as good as 'Roses' but still a solid banger; Jehnny Beth, frontwoman of Savages, debuts at #28 with 'We Will Sin Together', another cinematic track which gives her a chart debut after just missing out with a couple of previous singles from her debut solo album; Kiesza finally makes the chart at #29 with 'Love Me With Your Lie', my new favourite of the singles from her forthcoming new album (the previous ones all missed out with only 'All Of The Feelings' even coming particularly close); former Eurovision winner Netta debuts at #31 with the surprisingly mature Sia-alike 'Cuckoo'; Punjabi star Sidhu Moose Wala gets a second top 40 hit (following the #2 hit and actual UK top 20 single '47' with MIST and Steel Banglez feat. Stefflon Don) entering at #33 with Amrit Maan collab 'Bambiha Bole'; Biffy Clyro make a slightly belated splash at #35 with 'Tiny Indoor Fireworks' following the music video release, so they are now 3 for 3 on making the top 40 with singles from their new album though none have yet made the top 20; Gorillaz enter at #36 with 'Friday 13th' (feat. Octavian) which is an improvement on the non-charting 'How Far?' but a way off the top 10 peaks of the three previous Song Machine singles; Lil Baby's 'The Bigger Picture', another song released in response to the George Floyd situation and going into some much deeper territory than your average Lil Baby song, debuts at #37; S1mba's big UK hit 'Rover' (feat. DTG) finally makes a very belated debut at #39 as I've given in to it being quite a big earworm even if it is a pretty by the numbers afroswing track; and finally Nigerian singer Tekno enters at #40 with the lowkey but vibey 'Sudden', giving him a second top 40 hit following 'DON'T JEALOUS ME' (with Yemi Alade and Mr Eazi) from 'The Lion King: The Gift'.

NEW PEAKS OUTSIDE THE TOP 10

The late Juice WRLD, typically an artist who's had very short chart runs even by my chart standards, actually continues to make progress as his two songs that hit new peaks last week both climb again this week, 'Tell Me U Luv Me' (with Trippie Redd) up three places to #12 and his feature on 'Flex' by Polo G rocketing up 20 places to #17. With this Juice reclaims an impressive record of reaching the top 20 with all of his chart appearances, as 'Flex' remains the lowest peaking of his 12 top 40 hits for me to date. There's also a small new peak for the slow burning remix of 100 gecs' 'stupid horse' (feat. GFOTY and Count Baldor), moving up two places to #16 in its fourth week in the top 20. A full album of gecs remixes is on its way in the very near future so watch out for a potential album bomb there.

THIS WEEK'S #1

After dipping to #2 last week, ROSALÍA and Travis Scott return to #1 for a second non-consecutive week with 'TKN'. This is ROSALÍA's second song to have two separate runs at #1 ('Con Altura' previously having four weeks at #1 across two runs) and also gives her a 7th total week at #1, the most of any artist since my chart's return in January 2019.

IN THE TOP 10

Completing a top 2 of primarily non-English language songs, m-flo and chelmico shoot up 13 places to #2 with 'RUN AWAYS' in its second week. Run The Jewels still have two songs in the top 10, with 'JU$T' (feat. Pharrell Williams and Zack De La Rocha) falling to #4 after a week at the top and 'walking in the snow' dipping 3-10. Everything Everything now have three songs in the top 10, the highest covered in the next section while 'In Birdsong' is a non-mover at #5 and 'Arch Enemy' falls 3 places to #7 in their 9th and 6th weeks in the top 10 respectively. Vacant holds at #6 with 'Hidden' ahead of tonight's BJSC results, while Foster The People remain stable with 'Lamb's Wool' down a place to #9 in its fourth week in the top 10.

THIS WEEK'S HIGHEST NEW ENTRY

Everything Everything make it 3 for 3 on scoring the highest new entry of the week with the singles from their forthcoming 5th album 'Re-Animator', as the synthtastic third single 'Planets' gets the honour this week with a debut at #3. Time will tell if it could yet climb to the top to give them a 100% record of #1 peaks from this era, but for now they maintain a 100% top 10 presence with the two previous singles having not left my top 10 yet, the three songs now having a cumulative 16 weeks in the top 10.

OTHER NEW AND RETURNING ENTRIES

There is one further new entry in the top 10, and it's a bit of a surprise for me as the song fell some way short of debuting in my top 40 last week but has grown on me so much this week that it launches at #8, that is 'Tommy Lee' by relative newcomer Tyla Yaweh featuring the more established Post Malone. This is Post's 6th top 10 on my chart. Six more new entries launch in the top 20. Doves' first new music for a decade, comeback single 'Carousels', debuts at #12; drill rapper Loski is joined by MoStack (not typically an artist who makes drill songs but he sounds great on here) on 'Training Day' new at #13; Felix Snow debuts at #15 with the 2-step inspired instrumental track 'Witches In These Woods'; Jack Garratt makes a belated entry at #18 with 'Return Them To The One' following a music video release, giving him a third and highest charting top 40 entry from his new album; Annie's comeback single 'American Cars' enetrs at #19; and the rather hypnotic banger 'Undone' by Alex Metric and TCTS feat. Vök enters at #20 giving a first appearance since my chart revival for all three artists.

Other new entries this week: a music video release also prompts a #23 debut for Polo G's '21' (his third top 40 hit) which just missed out on entering a couple of weeks back; Pop Smoke's 'Make It Rain' (feat. Rowdy Rebel) also debuts now at #24 after missing out last week, giving Pop Smoke a fourth top 40 hit and the first to peak higher than #39; Victoria Monét, Khalid and SG Lewis' breezy collab 'Experience' enters at #26; another instrumental track by a former BJSC artist 'Sekoia' by Fakear is in at #28; experimental fave Arca enters at #31 with 'Mequetrefe' after two previous singles from her new album fell short (she has a new track with ROSALÍA so look out for that to quite possibly impact even more next week); The Killers enter at #35 with 'My Own Soul's Warning', well down on the #7 peak of 'Caution' but returning them to top 40 duty after the last single 'Fire In Bone' fell short; Slovenia's 2019 Eurovision act zalagasper continue their Bré Forté success into a new era with 'origami' entering at #36, their sixth top 40 hit; Julianna Barwick and Jónsi's collab 'In Light' enters at #37 (a little lower than I thought it might get based on the artist names alone but still a lovely song); afrobashment titans NSG get a fourth top 40 hit with the iconic 'Grandad' at #38; Nigerian artist Cruel Santino enters at #39 with 'End Of The Wicked' which gives featured artist Octavian a second low top 40 hit in successive weeks and his 8th top 40 hit to date in all; and finally I have given into the ridiculousness of inexplicable UK top 40 hit 'Who's That What's That' by Niko B, taking his tirade against McDonald's gherkins to a #40 debut here.

NEW PEAKS OUTSIDE THE TOP 10

Juice WRLD and Trippie Redd continue to edge closer and closer to the top 10 with 'Tell Me U Luv Me' up another place to #11. The only other new peak, bar m-flo who were covered in the top 10 commentary, is Jehnny Beth's 'We Will Sin Together' which improves 3 places to #25 after its debut last week.

Hi Bre! There are many great entries in the past two weeks, particularly Mequetrefe from Arca! I like the beautiful chaos within the song and this reminds me a lot of the 20th century classical composer Charles Ives, who triumphs on polyrhythm and avant garde music.

THIS WEEK'S #1

There's very high turnover this week (23 new entries and one re-entry, the most entries I've had in a week since my chart's return) but not so much at the very top end of the chart where ROSALÍA and Travis Scott continue to hold down the #1 for a second week in a row and third in total with 'TKN'. This extends ROSALÍA's record as the artist with the most weeks at #1 (8) in this iteration of my charts, and makes her the first artist with two songs that each spent 3 or more weeks at #1 following 4 week topper 'Con Altura' (with J Balvin feat. El Guincho). ROSALÍA also expands another record this week as she bookends the top 10 also featuring on a new entry at #10, Arca's experimental reggaetón stormer 'KLK' - with this she becomes the first artist to have 10 top 10 hits in my charts since their January 2019 return (ahead of BROCKHAMPTON, Juice WRLD and slowthai who all have 8, with the latter having 9 including an uncredited appearance on Tyler, The Creator's 'WHAT'S GOOD', while BROCKHAMPTON's Kevin Abstract also has an additional top 10 hit as a solo artist).

IN THE TOP 10

Everything Everything go down from three top 10 hits to just the one, with 'Planets' holding at its #3 entry position from last week. m-flo and chelmico's 'RUN AWAYS' dips two places to #4, Run The Jewels fall one to #5 with 'JU$T' (feat. Pharrell Williams and Zack De La Rocha), Vacant's 'Hidden' is a non-mover at #6 for a third week in a row (spooky!!1) following its top 20 finish in BJSC 125 (more impact from that contest touched on later) and Tyla Yaweh is also a non-mover at his entry position of #8 with 'Tommy Lee' (feat. Post Malone).

THIS WEEK'S HIGHEST NEW ENTRY

There are a couple of album bombs impacting the chart this week but easily the bigger of the two comes from Jessie Ware's fourth album 'What's Your Pleasure?' which lands three new entries and a re-entry, including highest new entry honours with the somewhat slept-on album track 'The Kill', a gorgeously dark sounding and moody string-laced synthpop ballad which launches at #2 to give her easily her highest chart position for me to date (it's her second top 10 hit following the single 'Save A Kiss' which peaked at #9; a quick search through my scattered archive documents of my older charts seems to indicate that 'Save A Kiss' was her first song to even make my top 20 which seems quite surprising!) Also making debuts from the album are the more upbeat numbers 'Soul Control' at #12 and title track 'What's Your Pleasure?' at #22, while the album opener (now revitalised with a much welcome extended album version) 'Spotlight' re-enters at a new peak of #18 some 4 months after it originally spent a solitary week here at #37 (how was I sleeping so hard on this woman's music this recently xx). In total 7 of the album's 12 songs have made my top 40.

OTHER NEW AND RETURNING ENTRIES

The other album bomb of the week comes from HAIM's third album 'Women In Music Pt. III' - the singles from this album had achieved more success than those from Jessie's album, with it already boasting three top 10 hits and two other top 40s, but the album track performance is much more muted with only two songs making debuts, 'Gasoline' at #26 and 'Leaning On You' scraping at #40. As such the album matches Jessie Ware's 7 top 40 hits in total albeit from a longer tracklist of 16 songs. Additionally, while it isn't really an album bomb per se as I didn't listen to the whole album yet (I might do so for next week's chart), Arca's 'KiCk i' album lands two new entries, 'KLK' as discussed above giving her a first top 10 hit and 'La Chíqui' (feat. SOPHIE) in at #35, taking her to 3 top 40 hits from this album and 4 in total. The BJSC 125 final results being announced also breaks the watershed allowing songs from there to enter my chart with 3 of them making it in this time - New Lexico entry 'Aman' by Myriam Fares debuts at #7 (the joint highest charting non-Persephonia BJSC entry of 2020 so far alongside Right Hand Left Hand's 'Chacabuco' (feat. Taliesyn Källström), quite astonishing that it's a New Lexico entry achieving this x), Suedeonia's 'City In Lights' by Georgia, Mahotella Queens, Otim Alpha and Nick Zinner (from the collaborative compilation album 'EGOLI' presented by the non-profit organisation Africa Express who are 'officially' credited as the lead artist on the song but not so for my chart x) goes in at #15 and Summericia's CHROM hit #21 with 'The Start Of Something New'. In a less busy week HAARM's 'Better Friend' may have squeaked in too which would have meant 4 of the last 7 Rolloland entries had charted but alas it falls just short. There is one more new entry in this week's top 10, the multi-phased stormer 'Parasite Eve' by Bring Me The Horizon which debuts at #9 to give the band their 5th top 10 hit since January 2019.

Other new entries this week: Jack Harlow's 'WHATS POPPIN' [sic] finally debuts after previously missing out, its debut now being in the form of the remix featuring DaBaby, Tory Lanez and Lil Wayne which enters at #17; CamelPhat make a return to my chart after falling short with their last couple of releases as 'Hypercolour' (with Yannis of Foals fame) is in at #19, their 7th top 40 hit; Doja Cat's 'Like That' (feat. Gucci Mane) finally debuts at #24 following its music video release to give her a 5th top 40 hit; my former Unknown Pleasures act Kllo enter at #27 with 'Somehow' (thankfully actually available on Spotify unlike their previous top 40 hit 'Final'); Daniel Avery claims a third top 40 hit with 'Infinite Future' at #28; Another Sky (a rare artist I discovered via the Radio 1 playlist) get a second top 40 hit with 'Fell In Love With The City' at #29; Franky Wah finally gets a first chart appearance after a couple of previous near misses with a music video release propelling 'Lost In Time' to a #31 debut; Nothing But Thieves make the top 40 this time with The Killers pastiche 'Real Love Song' at #32 after the previous single missed out; Persephonian BJSC alumnus Skee Mask debuts at #34 with 'IT Danza', the only one of 11 new tracks from him released last week via two new EPs to make it in (although there were plenty of other songs I enjoyed especially from the more rave/techno-leaning 'ISS005' EP this track was from, while 'ISS006' consisted entirely of minimalistic ambient tracks) and his third top 40 hit to date; Kelly Lee Owens also gets a third top 40 hit with 'On' in at #36, a more vocals-oriented track than previous singles from her forthcoming new album; a video release also prompts a belated debut for 'Be Kind' by Marshmello and Halsey (their 2nd and 6th top 40 hits respectively) at #37, a song I found very basic on first listen but which has somehow won me over; and finally Jónsi has a second low top 40 debut in as many weeks this time with solo track 'Swill' at #38, co-produced by A. G. Cook as the previous single 'Exhale' was also but it's much more apparent on this one (not a bad thing, although I'm not stanning this song quite as much), this giving him his 4th top 40 hit as a named artist since my charts' return and 5th including one as a member of Dark Morph.

NEW PEAKS OUTSIDE THE TOP 10

With the even larger than normal flood of new entries nearly everything outside last week's top 14 drops out but there are two exceptions which both actually climb to new peaks - Fontaines D.C.'s 'I Don't Belong' reverses its drop from last week and then some to hit a new high of #16 in its third week, while NSG's incessantly earwormy 'Grandad' swims against the tide to rise 15 places to a new peak of #23 in its second week becoming their second highest peaking song for me.

THIS WEEK'S #1

Given a second wind by the release of the visuals which perfectly compliment the dark vibe of the song, Jessie Ware's 'The Kill' rebounds after dropping to #4 last week to now hit #1 in its third week in the chart, surpassing its #2 debut to become her first #1. Following two more weeks in a row of super fast turnover this is now her only song that remains in the top 40.

IN THE TOP 10

Last week's top 2 consisted of two big climbers, which continue to both be in the top 3 this week. Holding at #2 is Loski and MoStack's 'Training Day', whih last week zoomed up to the silver medal position after two weeks at #13, becoming the highest charting UK drill song in my chart to date (although Headie One has hit #1 with his feature on Stormzy's 'Audacity' which wasn't a UK drill song); it became Loski's second top 10 hit and MoStack's 2nd. It thus holds ahead of last week's #1, Arca's 'KLK' (feat. ROSALÍA) which shot up 10-1 last week as part of a slightly belated Arca album bomb, delivering her first #1 and featured ROSALÍA's 4th, with ROSALÍA now having twice as many #1s since my chart's return last year as any other artist. It also marked ROSALÍA becoming the third act after BROCKHAMPTON and Everything Everything to knock themself off #1 since my chart return, as 'KLK' replaced her own Travis Scott collaboration 'TKN' which slipped 1-6 after three non-consecutive weeks at the top spot (and further slumps to #17 in another fast moving week this week). 'KLK' falls 1-3 this week.

Completing this week's top (excluding the new entries covered in the next sections) we have Pop Smoke's 'Got It On Me' which was one of two debuts last week from his posthumous album 'Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon', entering at #20 and this week rocketing up to #4 to give him his first top 10 hit in my charts, Daniel Avery's 'Infinite Future' which became his second top 10 hit last week in rising 28-10 and rises further to become his highest charting song to date at #5 this week as he achieves an album bomb of his own (more on that in the next section) and last week's two highest debuts both falling in their second week: Kanye West's 'Wash Us In The Blood' (feat. Kendrick Lamar) had highest new entry honours at #3 last week (giving Kanye a second top 10 and Travis a 6th since my chart return) and now falls to #9, while there's a smaller one place drop to #6 for 'My High' by Disclosure, Aminé and slowthai, which was the second top 10 hit on this iteration of my charts for both Disclosure and Aminé (the highest position to date for the latter) and the 9th for slowthai, closing back in on ROSALÍA's record of 10 top 10 hits.

THIS WEEK'S HIGHEST NEW ENTRY

My record number of new entries in one week is broken again as there are, count em, 25 new entries in my top 40 this week. Over half of these are accounted for by just three artists, as it's a rare triple album bomb week. The most impactful album bomb is for an album that wasn't actually released this week, Daniel Avery's surprise 3rd solo studio album 'Love + Light' - this came out alongside the single 'Infinite Future' 2 weeks earlier but I only listened to it belatedly now following the release of visuals for the rest of its tracklist on YouTube. It was well worth it as, along with 'Infinite Future' hitting a new peak, it lands 5 new entries in the top 40 including this week's highest new entry, the floaty closing track 'One More Morning' which gives Avery his third top 10 hit to date debuting at #7. Most of his new entries are fairly lengthy and ambient tracks but the second highest, 'Searing Light, Forward Motion' at #12, is much more intense and hard techno leaning as well as being only about half the length of the other songs. Completing his debuts are 'Dream Distortion' at #23, 'Into The Arms Of Stillness' at #31 and 'Dusting For Smoke' at #35, all bringing his total tally of top 40 hits to date up to 8.

OTHER NEW AND RETURNING ENTRIES

Two other newly released albums each land 4 new entries in the top 40. Juice WRLD's posthumous third album 'Legends Never Die' nets him the second highest new entry of the week with 'Conversations' entering at #8, giving him his 9th top 10 hit to date (so also closing in on ROSALÍA's record and matching slowthai for the second most of any artist). Two more new entries land in the top 20, with 'Life's A Mess' featuring Halsey at #14 (Halsey's 7th top 40 hit on my charts which feels like quite a lot for an artist I don't consider myself to be a fan of per se) and 'Titanic' at #16, while 'Fighting Demons' lands at #25. Only partly related to the album bomb there's also a belated debut for Juice's protégé The Kid LAROI with 'GO', a posthumous collaboration with Juice, finally debuting at #37 after a few weeks bubbling under as a slow grower (has taken me a while to get used to LAROI's rather rough vocals). Juice's tally of top 40 hits now stands at 17 with all but 'Fighting Demons' and 'GO' having top 20 peaks.

The other album bomb of the week comes from 100 gecs following the release of '1000 gecs And The Tree Of Clues', an album mostly comprised of remixes of songs from their debut album '1000 gecs'. Two of those remixes debut this week, with the remix of 'xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx' featuring Tommy Cash and Hannah Diamond faling just short of giving them a third top 10 hit as a debut at #11, while the 'hand crushed by a mallet' remix featuring Fall Out Boy, Craig Owens and Nicole Dollanganger sneaks in at #39. It's the first hit since my chart return for all of the featured artists except Cash and Dollanganger who both had one previous appearance, coincidentally both with BJSC entries. As well as the remixes the album also includes two entirely new original songs, which both debut in my chart this week - 'came to my show' at #19 and 'toothless' at #28. With these new entries 100 gecs double their total number of top 40 hits to 8. Amidst all the album bombs there is one other new entry in the top 10, with the Don Diablo remix of Robin Schulz and Wes' 'Alane' (itself a remix of the original 'Alane' by Wes from 1997) entering at #10 - I thought the original Schulz version sounded like it had potential to be a favourite for me but found the production sadly quite weak, luckily Don Diablo fixed that problem so I can now stan. It is the first appearance in my chart for all three artists.

Other new entries this week: James Blake enters at #13 with 'Are You Even Real?' to get his 9th top 40 hit since my chart return (all of which have peaked in the top 20), his second new song to come out since the release of last year's album 'Assume Form' so hopefully leading up to a new album release; noise rock band BADA (a project of BJSC artist discovery Anna Von Hausswolff) make their debut at #20 with the 7 minute instrumental jam 'Träslöjd'; electronic producer Rone claims a fourth top 40 hit at #21 with 'Room With A View' following its music video release (it's the title track from his latest album which I really ought to listen to at some point given I've now charted 4 songs from it); Doves go 2 for 2 with top 40 hits from their forthcoming comeback album as 'Prisoners' debuts at #24 just three weeks after the lead single came out; The Streets lands a second and higher peaking top 40 hit from his comeback mixtape with 'The Poison I Take Hoping You Will Suffer' (featuring Oscar #Worldpeace who marks his top 40 debut) in at #26; Deno's dabbling in UK drill 'Circles' featuring OFB makes a slightly belated debut at #29 giving them a 3rd and 2nd top 40 appearance respectively (the fourth for OFB member Bandokay who's also had two solo hits), also Deno's first song to crack the top 30; Tiga and Hudson Mohawke both have their first appearance since my chart return (HudMo's third including two low-charting appearances as half of TNGHT) with their collab 'Love Minus Zero' debuting at #32; Big Black Delta get a second top 40 hit with 'Vessel' in at #33; Summer Walker makes her top 40 debut with the raunchy 'White Tee' (a collab with NO1-NOAH who also makes a first appearance) from her new EP 'Life On Earth' squeaking in at #38; and the top 40 is rounded out at #40 by another slow-growing hip-hop track, '3 Headed Goat' by Lil Durk feat. Lil Baby and Polo G which is respectively the three rappers' first, 7th and 4th chart appearances.

It suffers a rather large drop from #8 to #34 this week but worth a belated mention that Sufjan Stevens claimed a first top 10 hit last week with 'America' which is also the longest song I have charted since my chart return at a glorious 12 minutes and 30 seconds, nearly a minute and a half longer than the previous record holder 'Lesley' by Dave featuring Ruelle (which incidentally was also a top 10 hit peaking at #7).

NEW PEAKS OUTSIDE THE TOP 10

None this week, as barely any songs survive from last week's #11-40 section again. One of the few that did, Kllo's 'Somehow', did claim a new peak last week rising 10 places to #17, and holds steady amidst the chaos this week only falling one place to #18.

I must've missed Don Diablo remixing Alane, taking a listen now I think I'll stick to Robin Schulz' remix but that's sounding good as I'd expect.
Great to see Disclosure making this top 10 too, My High is one of the better tracks they've done this year so far so hopefully there's more like those to come. West Ten and Ego Death are both great too.

I'm surprised that 'Alane' seems to have gone under the radar in the dance forum (in fact it looks like Robin Schulz doesn't have a thread at all in there, I'd go make one myself now but I'm too lazy and realistically am not likely to care much for any of his other future releases, I only like this one because of Don Diablo's contribution kink.gif)

Hope you enjoy, his whole new album is great xx I think 'Mequetrefe' is probably gone for good now unforch, was a bit unlucky to not get a third week last week but I had to be fairly ruthless in cutting songs to accommodate 25 new entries laugh.gif at least 'KLK' is still sticking around cool.gif

~

Time for another chart with... slightly slower turnover. But still more than half of it being new entries. laugh.gif

THIS WEEK'S #1 + HIGHEST NEW ENTRY

Troye Sivan is 2 for 2 on claiming highest new entry of the week honours with his releases so far this year, but goes well over and above the #7 debut/peak that gave that distinction to previous single 'Take Yourself Home' as the follow-up 'Easy' (both taken from his forthcoming EP 'In A Dream') manages to go straight in at #1, only the 5th of 2020's 15 new #1s so far to debut at the top spot. This marks Troye's first ever #1 on my charts and is his third top 10 and fourth top 40 hit since my chart revival in January 2019. It's the latest example of a song that managed to hit my feels in a certain melancholic / nostalgic way which has been a hallmark of several of my favourite songs of the last couple of years (e.g. Post Malone's 'Circles', 070 Shake's 'Guilty Conscience' and The Weeknd's 'Save Your Tears') - possibly one that could hold down the top spot for a few weeks? We shall have to wait and see. x

IN THE TOP 10

There are fewer new entries in all than last week but a larger clearout of the top 10 as there are three new entries straight into the region and a further three songs climbing in there for the first time. The four survivors from last week's top 10 are Loski and MoStack's 'Training Day' which continues to unluckily stall at #2 (having been there for the last 3 weeks behind 3 different songs), last week's #1 'The Kill' by Jessie Ware which slips to #3, Arca's former #1 'KLK' (feat. ROSALÍA) which dips a place to #4 and Daniel Avery's 'Infinite Future' which also falls one to #6. The Tommy Cash and Hannah Diamond assisted remix of 100 gecs' 'xXXi_wud_nvrstøp_ÜXXx' makes up for narrowly missing the top 10 on debut by climbing to #5 in its second week, providing the gecs their third and highest peaking top 10 hit and the first top 10 for both features. Juice WRLD and James Blake also have songs climbing into the top 10 in their second weeks giving them their 10th and 7th top 10 hits in this iteration of my charts respectively; the former's 'Life's A Mess' (feat. Halsey) rises 7 places to #7, also giving Halsey her second top 10 hit, while the latter's 'Are You Even Real?' is up 4 places to #9.

OTHER NEW AND RETURNING ENTRIES

It didn't manage to be one of the songs that entered from Juice WRLD's album bomb last week, but with the aid of a newly released visualiser video 'Hate The Other Side' (with Marshmello feat. Polo G and The Kid LAROI) makes a big belated splash entering at #8, thus giving Juice a second new top 10 hit this week (his tally of 11 top 10s since January 2019 sees him overtake, for now, the previous record of 10 held by ROSALÍA). It is his 18th top 40 entry in total, the second top 10 and third top 40 hit for Marshmello and a first top 10 hit for both Polo and LAROI. It's respectively their 5th and 2nd top 40 hits, with both also having previously charted with a different posthumous Juice WRLD collab. The last top 10 new entry of the week at #10 is the 90s-tastic indie pop jam 'Care' by beabadoobee which is her second top 40 hit, massively outdoing her only previous appearance with the #38 peaking 'Sun More Often'.

'Hate The Other Side' wasn't the only grower to make my chart this week after missing out in previous weeks, that in fact accounts for a total of 7 of the new entries this week. Other slow burners are Rich Brian's 'Love In My Pocket' (in at #17, the third and highest peaking top 40 hit for the Indonesian born rapper and, in this case, singer from the 88rising camp), Unknown T's 'Deh Deh' (new at #18, also a third top 40 and the first since his release from prison), Fontaines D.C.'s 'Televised Mind' (#28, their second top 40 hit), Pop Smoke's 'West Coast Shit' (feat. Tyga and Quavo) (#33, the 7th top 40 for Pop Smoke and the third for both features, also equalling Quavo's highest peaking song), Katy Perry's 'Smile' (#38, her second top 40 hit since my chart revival though neither have made the top 30) and Jacob Collier's 'He Won't Hold You' (feat. Rapsody) (sneaking in at #40 to give a first hit for Collier and a second for Rapsody whose previous appearance got to #39). There are also 4 new entries from the BJSC Worldvision V spinoff. My own entry 'The Knight The Doom' by La Jungle (representing Belgium) had a solitary week at #18 two weeks ago before being thrown out prematurely by the fast turnover on the last chart, and is actually outcharted by Fljótavík's Greek entry '1993 Up-Side Down Chairs (Get Back There ½Mix)' by PERA STA ORI which enters at #12. Séyetana's Ukrainian entry (and contest winner) 'Chip Chip' by Fat Frumos hits #20, Aesthetica's Portuguese entry 'Mae Nam' by Armando Mendes and Khun Pui enters at #31 and Aeroche's Moroccan pick 'holdBreath' by Rayane Kara is in at #39. Unsurprisingly none of those artists have charted for me before. DJ Khaled grabs two new entries this week, doubling his total number of top 40 hits in the Bré Forté 2.0 era, both featuring Drake who increases his own tally of hits in this era to 9. 'GREECE' wins the battle of the Khaled & Drake songs in at #24 while 'POPSTAR' enters at #35. Drake's other release of the week with Headie One will be impacting next week due to being a midweek release.

Other new entries this week: Calvin Harris gets a third top 40 hit under his Love Regenerator alias and fifth top 40 overall since January 2019 with Steve Lacy collab 'Live Without Your Love' in at #16 (giving Steve Lacy a second and highest peaking chart entry); Annie quickly follows her #19 hit from a few weeks ago with a second top 40 hit 'The Bomb' in at #21; JPEGMAFIA continues to consistently rack up hits getting his 17th top 40 appearance with the sexually charged 'ROUGH 7' at #25 (a chart debut for collaborator Tommy Genesis); former Jadakissnian BJSC artist Banoffee gets a first top 40 hit with 'This Is For Me [baby blue]' in at #26 aided by a remix from PC Music alumni Planet 1999 for whom it's also a chart debut; Maya Jane Coles (you may know her from being sampled in Tinie Tempah's 'Girls Like' and Lady Gaga's 'Sour Candy') gets a first top 40 hit with the instrumental 'Piano Magic' at #32; and there's a first top 40 hit since my chart revival for Tiësto under his new VER:WEST alias with the CamelPhat co-produced '5 Seconds Before Sunrise' in at #37.

NEW PEAKS OUTSIDE THE TOP 10

None to report again this week as the only new peaks are those inside the top 10.

Admittedly don't know all that many songs on the chart but the number one is fab! wub.gif Troye's output has been really consistently great so far in his career and I think he's definitely one of my fav male artists at the moment.
