Joel Corry & MNEK should have no contest for their fourth week at #1. Expect to see high debuts for Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion's collab WAP and Juice WRLD & The Weeknd with Smile. Other new releases include Bugzy Malone, D-Block Europe, beabadoobee and SG Lewis

Taylor Swift's folklore looks likely remain at #1 for a third week. Deep Purple are back with their 21st studio album Whoosh!, and Glass Animals' third album Dreamland is among the new releases including Luke Bryan, Popcaan, Another Sky and Joe Bonamassa, meanwhile BTS release the physical copies for Map Of The Soul 7 - The Journey

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday: Some information may be posted on social media but it is likely to be missing most streaming data and is unrepresentative.
- Sunday: Official First Look Chart on Radio 1 from 6-7pm. Please do not post spoilers on the forum in advance as this ruins the countdown for any listeners.
- Monday: OCC Top 100 from 5:45pm
- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.
- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.
- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Ava Max is just outside the top 10 on Amazon, think it's where she's doing better
same as Jubel, who are #9 on Amazon right now

there was also the new remix of Kings & Queens with Lauv, but not sure if that helped much
on Apple it did barely nothing, it was at like #1500 for 5 minutes and then dropped out

Apart from enjoying his current music as a solo artist I also love that he is having post album hit singles, it's a real blow back to the charts back in the day. I assume it's been a successful campaign overall in the US or is it just this single?

Adore You was a hit in the US too - it peaked at #6 and has had very impressive longevity much like it had here! Lights Up and Falling weren't pushed to radio but peaked at #17 and #62 respectively, while the album was both the final #1 of 2019 and the first #1 of 2020 there!

Worth noting that the reason 'Watermelon Sugar' is (possibly) going to #1 in the US this week is just because of him running a physical/digital bundle as has been the case with a lot of Hot 100 #1s recently. That's not to undermine its success, it was already a big hit and will continue to be one (will just likely drop back down to the lower half of the top 10 next week like it was before), it just wouldn't have been a #1 without that (at least not yet, it could still continue growing more organically).

Great move by harry and its paid off, it just helps make am already big hit even bigger.

It's one of many songs to have used the same tactic recently, personally I've been enjoying seeing a larger amount of people hit the top in the US compared to their usually extremely slow, airplay-driven chart.

they announced a rule change, but I don't think it is in effect just yet, which is how Harry (and Taylor last week) have still been able to take advantage.

why it wasn't effective as of the announcement is another question.

Honestly as dumb as what's going on is, I can respect Billboard doing it, rather than just springing up a new rule out of the blue along with the chart, eg "Harlem Shake" debuting at #1 or "Thinking Out Loud" being kicked out because of the 52 week rule being seemingly made up on the spot. Gives time to put things in perspective.

I’m not a big Harry fan but I’ve enjoyed the quick turnover on the Hot 100 this summer. Beyoncé, Gaga, Taylor, Nicki etc all got #1s from it and it’s much more fun than having the usual male hit being #1 from April to August (this year it would’ve been Rockstar which I still haven’t heard). And it’s fun to see artists actually care about their chart position and try to take advantage of it... it’s not exactly manipulation if there’s a genuine demand for the physicals? It’s no more manipulative than passive streams from being on TTH. This summer has been fun, guess it’ll be back to the usual as soon as this rule goes into effect

the problem is the you're buying something that still doesn't exist yet and hasn't been manufactured and the song goes to #1 thanks to this non-existent physical
I think it's only fair those sales count when the CD is shipped

but actually the new rule doesn't stop them releasing bundles, they just need to manufacture them in advance and have them ready

Lots of good things happening in this update! WAP at #5 is a pleasant surprise, LM back in the top 20, Hallucinate top 40 and Glass Animals at #2 in the album chart, would love to see them get a number one! I can’t remember how their other albums did but this sounds a lot better from what I can remember.

great to see Cardi top 5, Paul Woolford top 30 and particularly Dua Lipa top 40 today - would be very much deserved for Hallucinate to finally get there this week.
hopefully Jubël can hold on to their top 10 this week too but I'm not so sure they will, them holding at #8 today looks promising but the few songs directly below it seem to be performing better on streaming.
big ouch at Billie Eilish down to 36, hopefully this song underperforming means she'll release something more interesting soon.

Was not expecting Glass Animals to be ahead of Deep Purple, especially this early in the week, that's great for them! SavanSeize proven wrong *.* Looking like unless there's an unexpected surge for something later in the week they should have at least #4 locked in and a good chance of hanging onto #2 (since they already have higher sales than Dua/Lewis/Harry had for the whole of last week and are only ~900 behind Juice WRLD's last week total and ~2.8k behind Pop Smoke's).

Also the 2nd week fall is not really that relevant given they didn't actually get the #1 but good to see Fontaines D.C. still in the top 20 at this stage, means they probably wouldn't have ended up breaking the record drop from #1 I guess!

But wait, why am I even wasting my time commenting on these small insignificant chart events, when there is obviously a much, much bigger story lower down.......

It's weird how Cardigan along with other songs like Exile from Folklore have charted well in English speaking countries but have mega flopped in nearly every other country like in Germany Cardigan debuted at number 67. Very strange. You'd even think Cardigan would debut ok on its first week in most countries with fanbase/media hype and then tumble down the chart.

The real reason why Cardigan (and Folklore for that matter) is flopping in mainland Europe is because it lacks beats you can dance or vibe to. It's a very lyric heavy song, and relies heavily on that to succeed. Since this requires understanding of the English language, and most people in mainland Europe don't speak English, nothing from Folklore will do well there. There's a reason why its lowest peaks are from there. Plus, Taylor is not very big there in the first place, so a song that's not very radio friendly in the first place won't do well there at all. You're basically trying to imply that she's a local artist.

I think you'll find almost everyone in Europe speaks English maybe you just mean English isn't their first language but I doubt that would be the reason for Taylor flopping there. I think you're along the right lines with your first point, Europeans tend to favour something with a beat.

I think it's especially difficult for Taylor. For example, Katy Perry's Witness, an underperformer by any standard of analysis, peaked at number four on the SNEP Albums Charts. Taylor's most successful album peaked at no. 9 there. Fortunately she makes up for her severe underperformance in Europe by doing fantastic in Asia. All of her lead singles (except Cardigan) in Japan have debuted within the top ten, and she has 7 top ten hits there. For comparision, Rihanna (who's European dominance crushes Taylor) has had her biggest hit there peak at no. 42.

Ava Max does very well in continental Europe.

Gaga is also one of the international faves in France. ASIB is huge bestseller there (certified Diamond) and Chromatica debuted at #1 which is super rare for international artist. No wonder that she is startingThe Chromatica Ball tour from Paris next summer.

I'd think Biffy Clyro are pretty nailed on for the #1 album next week. 3 weeks at #1 for Taylor is still great though considering none of her previous albums were #1 for more than one week.

Well Perfect is currently 99 weeks behind Mr. Brightside and with Mr. brightside still charting pretty regularly it’s not closing that gap very quickly. Plus when Perfect eventually goes on ACR it’ll probably never chart again, whereas Mr. Brightside will still chart for 15+ weeks every year, so I don’t think any song will catch Mr. Brightside. It is possible (although unlikely imo) for Perfect to catch the song in 2nd for most weeks on the chart (Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol) but that would require it to spend another 29 weeks in the chart before it goes onto ACR, so I think it’ll probably remain 3rd of all time.
