Won't link to The S*n, but this was up yesterday:
QUOTE AS one quarter of All Saints, she topped the charts five times with hits including Pure Shores and Never Ever – both of which she wrote. Now I’m told that singer-songwriter Shaznay Lewis is putting both her pen and voice to the test again, by relaunching her solo career. She released her one and only solo record Open back in 2004 and two decades on, she is now planning to drop a follow-up. A source said: “Shaznay is really well respected in the pop world because of her distinctive voice and talent for writing a brilliant tune. “She has quietly been writing for quite a while now, and given All Saints aren’t active at the moment and the anniversary is approaching of her first solo record, it felt like the perfect time.” As well as writing for herself and All Saints, Shaznay has penned tunes including Little Mix's How Ya Doin? and Stooshe’s Black Heart. She hinted at her return to music when she was announced as a solo performer for next June’s Mighty Hoopla Festival in South London’s Brockwell Park. All Saints were originally together from 1993 to 2001, then had another run from 2006 to 2008 and once again from 2013 to 2020. But they have been on a hiatus since then, with no signs of new music or shows. Shaznay clearly knows a thing or two about making memorable tunes, so we’re excited to learn what she’s been busy working on. Quite exciting this, I loved "Open" when it came out. Where did 20 years go? She's also supporting Sugababes alongside Melanie C at Blenheim Palace a couple of weekends after Mighty Hoopla on 15th June. It would appear that we are getting the first single two weeks today. It's called Miracle and there's a short 30 second clip of it on YouTube which has the release date down as 12th January!

The clip (which has gone now!) sounds like it could have been a comeback All Saints song, following right where they'd left off on Testament. Which isn't a criticism by any means! It sounds great!
I'm curious about the situation with All Saints. They had performances booked in 2022 that were cancelled without acknowledgement by the group themselves. Shaznay isn't with Fascination management anymore, she's with Massive (home to Louise Redknapp). I hope things are fine between them all. The fact that Testament turns 6 this year and Red Flag 8... Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing Miracle in full. I never got around to hearing 'Open' (debut album), maybe I finally should after 20 years!! |

Open's a good album and sounds very different to All Saints!!
Sounds like they've split tbh, and she is releasing what would have been their new album, but as a solo album. She's their sole writer right? So, easy enough for her to do. |

It's a shame, but it's not like it's the first time! Also, with them not making much from new music, maybe some of them just don't see the point?

Possibly, it has been a while since their last album. Though they’ve split and reformed a few times, so I’d never rule it out completely.

Given Natalie was on The Masked Singer, Nicole is now presenting on Magic Radio and Mel's been doing different TV bits (I thought she was fabulous with her mum on Celebrities Race Across The World last year) that they are indeed on some form of all but unconfirmed hiatus. It wouldn't be the first time though as others have said, and we have had three more albums from them since they split in 2001 which is more than I ever imagined we'd have!
I do remember though that Shaznay responded to someone on Instagram about a year or 18 months ago who asked if she was still speaking to Nat and Nic and she said she was. I do think people in this day and age of social media read too much into whether everyone's interacting with each other all of the time, and more so with All Saints who had such a fractured history the first time round. I'm just enjoying all their different projects in the meantime, the Appleton 20th anniversary vinyls last year and now this new album from Shaz. The preview is giving "Testament" era and I'm still obsessed with that album so yeah. Bring it on! |

I'm sure All Saints will release new music again at some point, but I'm looking forward to hearing solo stuff from Shaznay - loved 'Never Felt Like This Before' although I don't recall ever listening to the whole album. Didn't know that she wrote 'Black Heart' by Stooshe though, that's such a tune!

I seem to recall she co-wrote a few Sugababes songs. Is that correct? |

I seem to recall she co-wrote a few Sugababes songs. Is that correct? According to Wikipedia: In January 2008, Lewis featured on the Wideboys track, "Daddy-O".[11] The single was released on 5 May 2008 and peaked at No. 32 in the UK. As a songwriter, Lewis is credited in Westlife's track "Reach Out", which was featured on their 2009 album Where We Are, the CocknBullKid track "Distractions" from her 2011 album Adulthood and the Stooshe single "Black Heart", released as a single in 2012.[12] In August 2012, it was reported Lewis was in the studio with original Sugababes line-up Mutya Keisha Siobhan, writing new material for their debut album.[13] In 2019 Shaznay co-wrote the theme music for the Netflix original series Turn Up Charlie with Idris Elba. |

Ah perfect thanks! I just checked, it seems she co-wrote Summer of 99 & Boys off The Lost Tapes. |

Oh it's glorious. Definitely got a bit of the same vibe as the "Testament" album had but that's not a bad thing at all. Feels anthemic almost!
