Afternoon Y'all- as per usual NO SPOILERS PLEASE- Thanks
Hey hey 'Jackers- I'm doing the thread this week (my second time ever) and I'm doing it all alone (baptism of fire kind of) so be kind!
Today could be the closest #1 and #2 sales gap since Lily Allen / Bastille last year. I have a feeling Take That will be #1.
Wamdue Project and Breach in the retros
Years & Years for that top 20 please! (just outside would be good enough too tho)

I think Take That will have taken it by a decent margin in the end, possibly enough to be #1 on sales as well as overall (as they only have a few thousand streaming sales).
Really hoping to see James Newton Howard top 15, James Bay and Years & Years top 20, Kiesza top 30 and Beyoncé top 40 - quite a lot to ask for I realise
I hope Take That can be #1 today, purely because it's good to see older artists still managing to get hits. Plus I like the song!

First song to spend two consecutive weeks at numebr 41 since The 1975's "Sex" in September 2013.
8 today!
Oh, Beyoncé will have missed out then. Boo.
New entries will be Take That, Labrinth, McBusted, James Bay, Years & Years, James Newton Howard, David Guetta and Kiesza.
Think it'll be relatively comfortable for Take That today. Of the 2 I would rather an original were at #1 so hope they do do it.

Chandelier
Glad to see it'll climb next week too. I'd have no problem with this song staying here forever.
Looks like Andrea was responsible for MAGIC! missing out on a re-entry then
I was gonna be annoyed if Sia ended up keeping Beyoncé at #41 but as she's not even that I will forgive her. I do still like 'Chandelier'.
Thanks Andrea for keeping this in...
Better than Rude re-entering so I'll accept it this time.
ethan ❤
Chandelier remains amazing and hopefully another big climb next week
I love Chandelier. I hope 'Big Girls Cry' can at least be a minor hit at some point but I'm doubtful.
Last week for this sedative please...

WOW, the greatest fall of Jeremih. Totally support this fall :-D
Don't Tell 'Em need more R&B jams like this charting well.
'Don't Tell 'Em'
Very big drop after holding up so well for a while!
Hopefully this is the last week for this.
4 weeks in the top 6 then only 4 more in the entire top 40 by the looks of things, eep.
nice to see this hanging on another week, still very catchy!
Loving the big falls for this now, awful track.

Budapest Such a great song!
Last week for this please!
Glad this is finally leaving. Decent track but long outstayed its welcome.
Also whisper it quietly but I think the tide may finally gone out for Mr Probz. As we know though it'll be back post-Xmas.
Oh. My. Goodness. Just tell me how Budapest can sound perfectly after the half of a year??? I guess there will be a huge competition for #1 in my year-end chart.
Budapest still sounds pretty nice, not as good as in its heyday but it hasn't suffered TOO much from overplay.
I don't mind this, but it is RIDICULOUSLY overplayed.

Biography
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (born September 4, 1981) (/biˈjɒnseɪ/ bee-YON-say) is an American singer and actress. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child, and rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of R&B girl-group Destiny's Child. Managed by her father Mathew Knowles, the group became one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. Their hiatus saw the release of Beyoncé's debut album, Dangerously in Love (2003), which established her as a solo artist worldwide; it sold 11 million copies, earned five Grammy Awards and featured the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy".
Following the disbandment of Destiny's Child in June 2005, she released her second solo album, B'Day (2006), which contained hits "Déjŕ Vu", "Irreplaceable", and "Beautiful Liar". Beyoncé also ventured into acting, with a Golden Globe-nominated performance in Dreamgirls (2006), and starring roles in The Pink Panther (2006) and Obsessed (2009). Her marriage to rapper Jay-Z and portrayal of Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) influenced her third album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), which saw the birth of her alter-ego Sasha Fierce and earned a record-setting six Grammy Awards in 2010, including Song of the Year for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Beyoncé took a hiatus from music in 2010 and took over management of her career; her fourth album 4 (2011) was subsequently mellower in tone, exploring 1970s funk, 1980s pop, and 1990s soul. Her fifth studio album, Beyoncé (2013), was critically acclaimed and was distinguished from previous releases by its experimental production and exploration of darker themes.
A self-described "modern-day feminist", her songs are often characterized by themes of love, relationships, and monogamy, as well as female sexuality and empowerment. On stage, her dynamic, highly choreographed performances have led to critics hailing her as one of the best entertainers in contemporary popular music. Throughout a career spanning 17 years, she has won 17 Grammy Awards and sold over 75 million records as a solo artist, and a further 60 million with Destiny's Child, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. The Recording Industry Association of America recognized Beyoncé as the Top Certified Artist in America during the 2000s decade. In 2009, Billboard named her the Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade, the Top Female Artist of the 2000s and their Artist of the Millennium in 2011. In 2014, she ranked atop of Forbes ' Celebrity 100 and became the highest-paid black musician in history. Time listed her among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013 and 2014. - Wikipedia

YASSSSSSSSSSSS! HA BRA WAS WRONG!!!
Oh Beyoncé is in after all! They made a mistake in the number of new entries then.
YAS anyway. This is so good (yet so bad). But so good.
'7/11' is absolutely awful! It's a shame after she managed toe unthinkable feat of creating an album that didn't have anything really bad on it.
'Ring Off' isn't too bad though.
yes 7/11!! such a jam, glad she's got another top 40 hit!
'7/11' ~ major jam
OK... so who hasn't made it in then?
First time hearing this Beyoncé track. Utterly dreadful, doesn't even sound like she's the vocalist.
This is my first time hearing this.....I'm not too fussed tbh.
HOLD THAT CUP LIKE ALCOHOL!
(P.S. Visit the Beyonce forum)
This is absolutely horrific lmao, I like Beyoncé but this is just a racket.
Spinnin'
Yay for this. Far from her best but still such a tune.
This is DIRE, shame as it's coming off the back of one of her strongest eras, singles-wise, for me.
Ok, so here is the question - where are THE HITS from Beyonce? E.g. Irreplaceable, Crazy In Love... tbh can't say I love her new songs.
what garbage
I really like Beyonce doing this kinda sound, the twerky RnB style but this is just so bad, the effect on her vocal is really irritating aswell.
Good to see 'Animals' holding on in the Top 40
'Animals' = DIRGE
Love this track. Also I heard an Alvin & The Chipmunks version this week that sounded rather similar to theirs!

Biography
Maroon 5 (formerly known as Kara's Flowers) is an American pop rock band that originated in Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1994 as Kara's Flowers while its members were still in high school. The original members of the band were: Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick; they signed to Reprise Records and released an album, The Fourth World, in 1997. After a tepid response to the album, the band parted ways with the record label and the members attended college. In 2001, the band regrouped, with James Valentine added to the lineup, and pursued a new direction under the name: Maroon 5.
The band signed with Octone Records and released their debut album, Songs About Jane, in June 2002. The album's lead single "Harder to Breathe", received heavy airplay, which helped the album to debut at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's second and third singles, "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved", became worldwide hits reaching the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. For the next few years, the band toured extensively worldwide in support of Songs About Jane and produced two live recordings: 2004's 1.22.03.Acoustic and 2005's Live – Friday the 13th. In 2006, drummer, percussionist and backing vocalist Ryan Dusick left the band and was replaced by Matt Flynn. The band recorded their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, and released in May 2007. The album reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Makes Me Wonder", became the band's first number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
Hands All Over, the band's third studio album was released in September 2010 and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2011, the album was re-released and supported by their single "Moves like Jagger" featuring American singer Christina Aguilera. The song became the band's second single to reach number one on the Hot 100 chart; it has sold over 14.4 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles worldwide. The band released their fourth studio album, Overexposed, in June 2012. The album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The first two singles from the album "Payphone" and "One More Night", were both international hits and peaked at two and one on the Hot 100 chart respectively.
In 2014, the band signed Interscope Records and recorded their fifth studio album, V, which is set to be released on September 2, 2014.
Since its debut in 2002, the band has sold more than 10 million albums in the United States and over 30.8 million digital singles and 27 million albums worldwide.
In 2013, Maroon 5 became the third most-played artist on Top 40 Mainstream radio, based on Clear Channel owned Mediabase, becoming one of the most successful acts of Interscope Records. - Wikipedia

Out of the saucepan, into the frying pan. Great.
Astonishing song from Maroon5, but why the hell they didn't even make it top-20??? Whyyyyyyy
Not the J. Cole version that I've noticed Kiss have started playing recently then.
7/11 is good, she has released much worse (Single Ladies, Flawless, and all of her ballads are so bland)
also her peaks since Best Thing I Never Had are horrible, what happend to her?
Ha! Glad to see this slump so much.

Just the 22 place drop then for Rixton. Deary me that's just about the worst I can remember from any boyband single past or present.
Quite an average track but not a patch on their debut.

Another big fall for John Legend, hopeful that it will fall short of Pharrell's record with the Xmas songs coming in the next few weeks.
Kiesza top 30 hooray!
At the rate it's falling now I don't see this sticking around for much longer thus not bettering Pharrell's record.
Also, where on earth did Jameela get 47 weeks from?
Yay All of Me!
All of Me Still the chart saviour *.*
I thought All of Me was on more than 42 weeks so far, definitely doesn't stand a chance of beating Pharrel's consecutive top 40 record thankfully (famous last words)
Shame Keisza has only just scrapped the Top 30. This deserves to be another Top 10 hit for her.
'No Enemiesz' is a bit of a step down from the quality of the first 2 singles but another very good song from her nonetheless. #30 is an okay position for it, not great after a #1 and a #4 but could be worse.
YAY at Kiesza missing the top 20, can this be the downfall of her now plz

This is SO much better than her last single it's unreal.
Not quite as good as 'Hideaway' though, but that's a tall order.
'No Enemiesz' is amazing! Really glad she has another top 40!
No Enemiesz
Deserves SO much higher but glad it got any weeks top 40 all things considered.
Not holding out much hope for the album next week...
This is a shocker- who authorised this??
Watching on a delay, but dead at Jameela's snigger in response to Rixton's fall.
Poor Kiesza - this is her best song imo.
Mightily relived Kiesza held on to a top 30 position in the end.
'No Enemiesz' in all honesty deserves to be top 5 tho!
What did you see in "No Enemiesz"??? It's totally dreadful imo. And russian airplay gone totally mad about "enemiesz"... duh
Another 30-second idea extended to a 3-minute pop song by filler
I think this is better than Giant in my Heart, but obviously not as good as Hideaway. She hasn't really made a real impact after Hideaway, she may go down as one of those wrongly assumed (but correct in a way) one hit wonders

Biography
Although the first solo single from soul-inspired, London-born artist Sam Smith was issued in early 2013, it was his soaring vocal contribution to Disclosure's October 2012 U.K. garage track "Latch" which brought him to most people's attention. For most of his teens, Smith balanced study with music, soaking in the raw and passionate approach to performance exemplified by his favorite artists at that time such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan. "Latch" hit the upper reaches of the U.K. singles chart when Smith was 21, and many were surprised when his debut solo track took a more tempered path. The production on February 2013's "Lay Me Down" — also courtesy of the ordinarily dancefloor-focused duo Disclosure — recalled the stripped-back material that had proved successful for Adele in the preceding years. Next, Shahid Khan — aka Naughty Boy — decided to follow his Emeli Sandé-fronted U.K. Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." So who's out of the top 40?
On the contrary Jameela, this is the song that made me hate Sam Smith (for a brief period at least).
He has redeemed himself with the following 2 releases fortunately.
Good to see this starting to be squeezed out of the chart!

They must have miscounted the number of new entries

I was just thinking Ed may have dropped out with both 'Sing' and this - didn't see another climb for this coming
I wish 'Don't' would go!
'Don't' - Ad nauseam
this is quickly getting annoying, the stations in the US are playing this obsessively and it really gets on my nerves.
Don't getting that NOW 89 effect
SO now with Sing falling out is this the first Pharrell-less chart since before Get Lucky was released?!
This song is such a non-entity, I'll never understand how it's managed 23 consecutive weeks top 40.

Oh the Now! 89 effect has put 'Blame It On Me' a fair bit ahead of 'Budapest' again. Good news. I still enjoy both of them but it'd be a bit to see 'Budapest' back ahead while they were both still top 40.

Biography
Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in country music. She signed with the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. The release of Swift's eponymous debut album in 2006 established her as a country music star. "Our Song", her third single, made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number one song on the country chart. She received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 and was supported by an extensive concert tour. The record won four Grammy Awards, with Swift becoming the youngest ever Album of the Year winner. Swift's third album, 2010's Speak Now, sold over one million copies in its first week of US release and was supported by the Speak Now World Tour. The album's third single, "Mean", won two Grammy Awards. Swift's fourth album, Red, was released in 2012. Its opening US sales of 1.2 million were the highest recorded in a decade, with Swift becoming the only female artist to have two million-plus opening weeks. The singles "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble" were worldwide hits. The Red Tour is visiting worldwide venues in 2013 and 2014.
Swift is known for her narrative songs about her experiences as a teenager and young adult. As a songwriter, she has been honored by the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift's other achievements include seven Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, eleven Country Music Association Awards and six Academy of Country Music Awards. She has sold over 26 million albums and 75 million digital single downloads worldwide. Forbes estimates that she is worth over $220 million. In addition to her music career, Swift has appeared as an actress in the ensemble comedy Valentine's Day (2010) and the animated film The Lorax (2012). As a philanthropist, Swift supports arts education, children's literacy, natural disaster relief, LGBT anti-discrimination efforts, and charities for sick children. - Wikipedia

Biography
Best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway smash Rent, singer/actress Idina Menzel made her solo debut in 1998 with the pop-soul effort Still I Can't Be Still. She joined the cast for Wicked in 2003 and appeared on the recording that same year, while 2004 saw her releasing the album Here. The following year, Menzel appeared on the soundtrack to the television show Desperate Housewives, and a duet with Ray Charles (which the pair had recorded back in 1998) found its way onto the tribute album Genius & Friends. In 2007, a dance version of Wicked's "Defying Gravity" became Menzel's first club hit. A year later she landed on the major label Warner Bros. and released a new album, I Stand. - iTunes

How this is so low I'll never know. Expected top 10 at the very least! Decent song but there are much better on what is a brilliant Guetta album!
'What I Did For Love'
I must admit I'm slightly disappointed it isn't in the top twenty!
Such a great track! Definitely my favourite on the album.
O_O what is it??? Why is it here? Is this the Harris syndrome: the week - the single?
BTW, this is the first time I hear the song. And I'm not surprised... guetta stays guetta.
Another good song from David Guetta, hooray! I lost a lot of hope after Lovers on the Sun/Shot Me Down but this and Dangerous have been good.

Biography
Cheryl Ann Fernandez-Versini (née Tweedy, formerly Cole; born 30 June 1983), known professionally as Cheryl Cole, is an English recording artist, songwriter, dancer, and television personality. She rose to fame in late 2002 when she auditioned for the reality television show Popstars: The Rivals on ITV. The programme announced that Cole had won a place as a member of the girl group Girls Aloud. The group's line-up remained the same throughout their history and during that time the group achieved a string of twenty consecutive top ten singles in the United Kingdom (including four number one singles) and six platinum albums (two of which went to number one) and earned five BRIT Award nominations from 2005 to 2010. In 2009, Girls Aloud won "Best Single" with their song "The Promise". In early 2013, Girls Aloud announced that they had split up.
Cole embarked on a solo career and released her first solo studio album 3 Words (2009) through Polydor records. 3 Words saw the release of three successful singles and the lead single from the album, "Fight for This Love," debuted at number one on the UK charts, becoming the best selling single of the year. "3 Words" and "Parachute" both peaked within the top five of the UK charts. 2010 saw the release of Cole's second studio album Messy Little Raindrops, which produced two singles, the first being "Promise This" which went straight to number one. Cole released her third solo album A Million Lights on 18 June 2012, with lead single "Call My Name" being released on 11 June 2012, the single became Cole's third number one single. During her solo career, Cole has earned three BRIT Award nominations.
Cole has become a recognised and photographed style icon; referred to as a fashionista by the press. She has been photographed for the covers of British Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar, while becoming the new face of cosmetic company L'Oréal. Cole was married to England footballer Ashley Cole from July 2006 until September 2010, when she divorced him following the announcement of their separation earlier that year. Cole became a judge on the UK version of The X Factor in 2008, becoming the winning judge twice out of the three series she judged. In 2011, Cole left the UK version of The X Factor to judge the American version. However, Cole was sacked from the show. Cole's net worth was estimated at Ł15 million in April 2012. On 10 March 2014, it was announced that Cole would return as a judge on the U.K. version of The X Factor for its eleventh series, signing a Ł1.5 million contract. - Wikipedia

Oh no at Years and Years missing out on the Top 20. 'Desire' is such a good song imo.
great result for Y&Y should hopefully score some bigger hits over the next year~
Not particular fussed on this track. Sunlight was far superior...
Well, shame this isn't top 20 but on the bright side that means they're still eligible for Sound of 2015
I like this much more than their previous singles.
Very solid debut from Years & Years, I look forward to hearing more of them in the new year.
Quite like "Desire" on first listen.
Really like this but like Bray said, glad they can be in the Sound Of 2015 list now this has missed top 20!

Biography
Following the success of JLS and the Wanted, X Factor contestants One Direction were the next group of heartthrobs to help revive the boy-band concept. The quintet outdid all of their predecessors, becoming the biggest boy band since Take That, selling millions of albums and singles, filling arenas and making movies, while hitting number one many times over across the world with undeniably hooky songs and plenty of boy next door charm.
The group was formed by Niall Horan from Mullingar, Ireland; Zayn Malik from Bradford; Harry Styles from Cheshire; Louis Tomlinson from Doncaster, and Liam Payne from Wolverhampton (the latter had previously reached the judge's house stages of The X Factor as a 14-year-old back in 2008). Each originally entered 2010's seventh series of X Factor as individuals, but following a suggestion from guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, they were grouped together to become One Direction. Mentored by Simon Cowell, they soon became one of the favorites to win the show, thanks to renditions of Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You," Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart." However, despite receiving a standing ovation for their duet with Robbie Williams ("She's the One") in the live final, they eventually finished third behind Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle.
Spotting the potential of five Justin Bieber-esque teen pinups, Cowell signed them to his Syco label in a two-million dollar deal, and after performing on the X Factor tour, the quintet began work on their debut album with Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias). Following a sponsorship deal with Nintendo DS and a book, Forever Young, named after their cover of the Alphaville classic that was intended to be their winner's song, they released their first single, "What Makes You Beautiful," in late 2011. The full-length album Up All Night followed soon after. In 2012, One Direction became the first British band to debut on top of the Billboard 200 list when Up All Night sold over 176,000 copies during its first week of release in America.
In late 2012, One Direction released their sophomore album, Take Me Home. Highlighting more of the band's melodic pop, Take Me Home featured songs and production via Sweden's Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub, and Savan Kotecha, who worked on Up All Night, as well as contributions from singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran. The album proved to be another smash and topped charts around the world, earning multi-platinum certification in half a dozen countries. The singles "Live While We're Young" and "Little Things" also hit number one across the globe, and "Kiss You" reached the Top Ten in the U.S.
One Direction then embarked on a globe-spanning tour in which the band played over 100 shows, including six sold-out nights at London's massive O2 Arena. At the same time, they were being filmed by director Morgan Spurlock for This Is Us, a mix of documentary and concert footage that proved to be successful at the box office when it was released in August of 2013. While they were touring, One Direction also began work on their third album, Midnight Memories. Released just in time for the 2013 holidays, the record featured songwriting input from all the members, a new production team, and some new folk and '80s hair metal influences. It nearly outdid Take Me Home and Up All Night, peaking at number one in seven countries and spawning the singles "Best Song Ever" and "Story of My Life." - iTunes

I have no clue about what songs will be included on Y&Y's album but they have 4 singles on iTunes ('Traps', 'Real', 'Take Shelter' and 'Desire') so they get an ugly '4th (?)', hooray. Also making the assumption 'What I Did For Love' is being pushed as the next Guetta single.
Thought 'Night Changes' would be a bit higher than this by this stage... I'm sure it'll still do really well with the EP / presumably XF performance though.
Thank heavens for small mercies this 1D drivel hasn't made the top20 yet!
Favourite One Direction track in a while, it's rather sweet.
Despite I don't like 1D at all, this song is kinda nice.
Night Changes needs to be top 20 it's looking like becoming my favourite from them already.
Yay at 'Blame' back in the Top 20 from the midweeks

Biography
Favoring a naughty schoolboy look that makes him seem even younger than his already tender years (22 when his first major-label album was released), Scottish artist, producer, and remixer Calvin Harris has a similarly youthful and forward-looking approach to his music. Skipping the usual apprenticeship in the clubs or on indie labels, Harris went from posting his own D.I.Y. electroclash music online through MySpace and similar sites, to signing with the multinational giant EMI almost in a single step. A short time later, he was producing material for Kylie Minogue, Dizzee Rascal, and Rihanna.
Born on January 17, 1984, in the southern Scotland city of Dumfries, Harris was first attracted to electronic music in his teens and was recording bedroom demos by 1999. Two of these songs, "Da Bongos" and "Brighter Days," were released as a 12" club single and CD-EP by the Prima Facie label in early 2002 under the artist name Stouffer. With that single to his credit, the still teenaged Harris moved from Scotland to London, but as a very small fish in one of the world's largest and most competitive ponds, Harris floundered; only one of his songs was released during his time in London, "Let Me Know" with vocalist Ayah on the Unabombers' 2004 live-mix CD Electric Soul, Vol. 2.
Returning home to Dumfries, Harris began posting homemade solo recordings to his MySpace page. An A&R representative from EMI liked what he heard and signed Harris to the label in 2006. Following a pair of successful singles, Harris released his debut album, I Created Disco, in the summer of 2007. It featured two Top Ten hits ("Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls"), and climbed high in the album charts. Along with his work as a solo artist, including touring in front of a full live band, Harris quickly became an in-demand remixer — working on singles by Jamiroquai, Groove Armada, All Saints, and CSS. He also wrote and produced songs for Kylie Minogue's 2007 comeback album, and collaborated with Dizzee Rascal on "Dance wiv Me," which reached number one in the U.K.
"I'm Not Alone," the first single from his second album, also hit number one upon release in April 2009, as did the album when it appeared that August. That album, Ready for the Weekend, topped the U.K. album chart and peaked at number 12 on Billboard's U.S. dance/electronic chart. Through 2011, Harris took on production work for Example, Tinchy Stryder, and Rihanna ("We Found Love," a quadruple-platinum hit in the U.S.), while he also issued two more of his own singles (the Kelis collaboration "Bounce" and "Feel So Close"). Harris' third solo album, 18 Months, was a collaboration-filled affair that featured "We Found Love" and "Bounce" plus vocal spots from Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch, and Ne-Yo, among others. It was released in October of 2012. - iTunes

Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes

Definitely feeling similar vibes of Ben Howard and a bit of George Ezra in James Bay. I like that song, I really hope his music is similar to this style in general and he won't go 'Ed Sheeran soppy piano ballad' on us~

Jessica Ellen Cornish (born 27 March 1988), better known by her stage name Jessie J, is an English singer and songwriter. Born and brought up in London, England, she studied at the BRIT School before signing with Gut Records and striking a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing where she wrote for artists including Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus.
After signing with Universal Republic, Jessie J came to prominence following the release of her debut single, "Do It Like a Dude", which peaked at number two on the UK Singles Charts. In 2011, after topping the charts in nineteen countries including the United Kingdom, France, Ireland and New Zealand, with the song "Price Tag", she released her début album, Who You Are, which charted at number two in the UK. Other releases from the album included "Nobody's Perfect", "Who's Laughing Now" and "Who You Are", which all charted within the top 20 in the UK. Release of the fifth single, "Domino", resulted in further international chart success, peaking at number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and becoming her second UK number one. The seventh single released from Who You Are, "LaserLight", became the album's sixth top ten single, making her the first British female artist to have six top ten singles from a studio album. Her second album, Alive, was released on 23 September 2013 and reached the top 5 in the UK Albums Chart. Aside from her musical career, Jessie J served as coach and mentor on television show, The Voice UK.

6 Words is brill. Exquisite production
weirdly enjoying Bang Bang now more than I have before (despite being around for months)
6 Words hanging on decently
Not too bad a drop for '6 Words'
'6 Words'
Where is Mary J. Blige's album I'm on edge.
'6 Words' isn't that bad actually, I didn't like it the first time I heard it.
The only really good thing he's done for me is 'Traktor' though.

Oh Yes The Hanging Tree
'The Hanging Tree' is so gorgeous, especially when it's built up at the end Hope it can rise into the top 10 although it has decreased a lot on iTunes now.
YASSSSSSSSS! Such a beautiful song.
So when she has a chance to explain that this is from the film, and who is actually singing, she just announces the credit and plays the record...
What is this horror? Guess it works better in the context of the film but even so I dislike the vocalist.
In places this sort of reminds me of a grander version of the theme to 90s kids TV show Round The Twist. It was a real moment in the film though, brilliant to see it in the top 20.
Such a strange chart entry!
Hunger Games bringing some different styles to the chart, liking this a lot on first listen argh, need to see the film soon
First time listening to 'The Hanging Tree'. It's quite strange having a classical piece in the Top 40 Good though
Like I Can is great. Getting better with every listen too!

Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes

Biography
McBusted are an English pop rock supergroup composed of members from bands McFly (Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd) and Busted (James Bourne and Matt Willis). The only member of the original groups not participating in the new lineup is former Busted singer Charlie Simpson. Simpson opted not to be a part of McBusted as he wished to focus on his solo career.
Having previously appeared as special guests during McFly's tenth-anniversary concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, it was announced on 11 November 2013 that former Busted members Bourne and Willis would join McFly to form the six-piece supergroup "McBusted" and go on an arena tour in April and May 2014. The original eleven-concert McBusted Tour quickly sold out and was eventually extended to 34 shows, including headlining Hyde Park on 6 July 2014. On 16 June 2014, McBusted made their overseas debut, supporting One Direction on their Where We Are Tour in Denmark. They then continued to support One Direction the following night, and again in France on 21 June.
In April 2014, it was revealed that McBusted would be releasing an album. On 7 October, they announced their debut single "Air Guitar", due for release on 23 November. It was also announced that they had signed a record deal with Island Records. The band's self-titled debut album will be released on 1 December. - Wikipedia

There's something so about Matt Willis.
'Air Guitar' just sounds like a Busted song. Really unnecessary. I will forget its existence immediately after it's finished playing.
really thought this would've made the top 10 at least!
Glad this didn't make it Top 10. I'm not expecting it to still be in the Top 40 next week.
oops McBusted flopping. Haven't heard the song but I can't imagine it being anything other than awful.
LOLZ @ McBusted missing the top ten!
Well that's a pretty disappointing result from their perspective. I thought it would at least match Love Is On The Radio's peak if not beat it but the hype simply evaporated.
I quite enjoy it though, like a throwback to the early noughties.
Wonder why people always lol at boybands missing top ten but when girl group do it it's the end of the world?
They're a little late - they're usually in T10 by now...
I imagine this would've been top 10 had streaming not been included so I imagine it hasn't done a great deal worse than Love Is On the Radio!
Air Guitar isn't a bad track anyway, I thought we'd get something a bit better but it's enjoyable.
It's an alright song, very much puts me back in 2003. I just can't take them all seriously as grown men doing this though, sort of like part of S Club 7's appeal was their youthfulness and it's not the same now.
Drag out some existing members and we could have 'The Rolling Beatles'
plus the quality of girl group singles is usually higher than boyband singles~
I did think this would get top 10, but this release has been a bit of a mess.
Poor song anyway, this sound has been too prevalent this year for it to stand out.
Here's some Calvin & Ellie to help us get over that McBusted horror.

Meghan back in the top 10. Thanksgiving effect ~ (or Now! 89 effect more likely, in fact definitely).
Another guess at how many songs will be included on an upcoming album, this time for James Bay - assuming 'Let It Go' and this are the only singles off his debut so far although he did release an EP last year.
Outside such a fantastic collab. Shame it's out of the top 10 but could easily sneak back in next week.
the real reason for Meghan going back in the top 10:

Gotta love a Now effect!

- Wikipedia

Biography
Timothy McKenzie (born 4 January 1989), better known by his stage name Labrinth, is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. Initially, he was tipped to work as a producer, but Simon Cowell signed him to his record label Syco Music as a solo act. In the process, Labrinth became Cowell's first non-talent show signing in six years.
Labrinth made his debut appearance on the UK Singles Chart in March 2010, when his collaboration with rapper Tinie Tempah, "Pass Out", reached number one. McKenzie has collaborated with Tinie Tempah on numerous occasions since. Labrinth's first solo single, "Let the Sun Shine" was released in September 2010, reaching number three in the same chart. His debut album Electronic Earth, was released on 31 March 2012, having been preceded by the singles "Earthquake" featuring Tinie Tempah and "Last Time", which peaked at number two and number four respectively. He achieved his first number-one single in November 2012 with "Beneath Your Beautiful", featuring Emeli Sandé. - Wikipedia

This track is absolutely horrific so glad it's not any higher (shouldn't even be top 200)...
Can we have the real Labrinth back please?
'Jealous' may be another song to 'benefit from streaming' (due to Taylor's lack of streams) then.
This is quite decent, might grow on me more as well. I do hope we get some 'Earthquake'-esque songs from this album though.
I'm really shocked at the reaction on here, I thought it would be awful judging by the comments but it's just an inoffensive piano ballad?
It's not great, that's an understatement, but it's marginally better than that Let It Be mess.
I don't get why 'Say Something' has so many fans while this is almost universally reviled. Very similar songs (and Labrinth's is better as it actually has some emotion in it).

Biography
Rather than the usual bombast or snooze-inducing "relaxation music," the U.K. six-piece known as Clean Bandit mash classical music and pop forms for an airy and dreamy yet driven sound that's like the chamber music version of house music. The core four-piece of the group were known as the Chatto Quartet, a classically trained string quartet that performed J.S. Bach and cited Jacqueline du Pré as an influence, but their post-show, wind-down music often consisted of garage, two-step, Craig David, and Arcade Fire tracks. The quartet members were aware of both producer Jon Wandeck and MC Ssegamic through the duo's work in photography, and when Wandeck suggested they play on one of his house music cuts, Clean Bandit were born. With MC Ssegamic on the mike, they released the classical-meets-house-meets-hip-hop-meets-heartbreak song "Telephone Banking" in the summer of 2011. Their Dance Armstrong mixtape followed in 2012, while 2013 saw the release of their Mozart's House EP. - iTunes

Was half expecting Ed to have shot past Olly at the last second with his XF effect. Glad he hasn't though so Olly at least has a safe second week top 3 (I expect he could still climb to at least #2 next week, if not remaining at #3).

Biography
With a "cheeky chappy" persona to match Robbie Williams and vocals reminiscent of original Pop Idol Will Young, former call-center worker Olly Murs was one of the success stories of the 2009 season of The X Factor, finishing runner-up to Joe McElderry in the hotly contested final. Born in Essex in 1984, Murs showed little interest in singing while at school, focusing his attention on football, where he played for the school team and later semi-professionally for local non-league team Witham Town. In 2007, he appeared on Deal or No Deal, where he won a lowly Ł10, but it was his performance of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" on the sixth series of The X Factor that enabled him to show off his talents. Mentored by Simon Cowell in the live stages, he wowed judges with renditions of songs by the Beatles, Queen, and George Michael and soon became the favorite to win the show. However, despite a duet with musical hero Robbie Williams in the final, Murs finished a respectable second. In 2010, he signed a six-figure record deal with Epic/Syco Music and embarked on the sold-out X Factor arena tour. After being personally invited by Williams to play at the televised charity football event Soccer Aid, Murs released his first single, the Jason Mraz-inspired "Please Don't Let Me Go," in August. His debut album, featuring songs written by Eg White, Scouting for Girls' Roy Stride, and Wayne Hector, was released in 2010. The record produced three U.K. Top 20 singles, with "Thinking of Me" and "Heart on My Sleeve" racking up chart positions alongside the debut number one "Please Don't Let Me Go."
Murs took a short break from his musical career in late 2011 to present the eighth season of The Xtra Factor — a spinoff behind-the-scenes look at The X Factor — returning to the program that shot him to fame. His experience with the dynamics involved in the show and his upbeat character made him a firm favorite with the audience — as well as flirty co-presenter Caroline Flack. During the recording of each show, Murs was working on songs for his second album with writers Steve Robson (Lily Allen, James Morrison) and Claude Kelly (Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys). The first single from his second record, "Heart Skips a Beat," featuring U.K. hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks, was released in summer 2011 and swiftly became a hit. The full release, In Case You Didn't Know, followed in November and secured his first U.K. number one album. The following year, Murs opened for sprightly boy band One Direction on their North American tour and re-released the "Heart Skips a Beat" single, replacing Rizzle Kicks with Philadelphia rap duo Chiddy Bang, to coincide with the shows. Also in 2012, Murs released his third studio album, Right Place Right Time, which included the single "Troublemaker," featuring rapper Flo Rida. ~ Jon O'Brien & Scott Kerr, Rovi / iTunes

Olly staying at Number 3. I'm still not totally into 'Wrapped Up' yet.
This is more like it such a catchy feelgood track! Might even be my favourite lead by him now as Troublemaker got a bit overplayed in the end (hopefully this won't go the same way)
But this is just 'Troublemaker' with an even worse rapper.
Back in time for number 1
!!!!!!
I never thought they'd do it again after Greatest Day, incredible.
The Days could never, bye Avicii/Robbie.

Song info
"Do They Know It's Christmas?" is a song written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in 1984 to raise money for relief of the 1983–85 famine in Ethiopia. The original version was produced by Midge Ure and released by Band Aid on 28 November 1984.
At a press conference on 10 November 2014, Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure announced that in 2014 a group of artists would again come together to re-record the song, this time under the banner of 'Band Aid 30' and in aid of the Ebola crisis. It was released on the following Monday, 17 November, just 11 days short of the 30th anniversary of the release of the original version of the track. - iTunes

'These Days' is an okay song but not really a worthy #1, would have much preferred a second week for Band Aid 30. Hats off to TT though.
YAY for Take That.
The first Band Aid version to spend one week at number 1 (so far)?

Biography
Take That are a British pop group that formed in 1990 currently consisting of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen. The original line-up also featured Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Barlow acts as the group's lead singer and primary songwriter. Owen and Williams would provide backing vocals, with Donald and Orange serving primarily as dancers. In total, the group have had 27 top 40 singles and 16 top 5 singles in the United Kingdom alone, 11 of which have reached number 1, as well as having seven number 1 albums. Internationally the band have had 54 number one hits and 35 number-one albums. Robbie Williams left the band in 1995 while the four remaining members completed their world tour and released a final single before splitting up in 1996.
After filming a 2005 documentary about the group and releasing a new greatest hits album, a four-piece Take That without Williams officially announced a 2006 reunion tour around the UK, entitled The Ultimate Tour. On 9 May 2006, it was announced that the group were set to record new material together once again; their fourth studio album, Beautiful World, was released in 2006 and was followed up with The Circus, in 2008. The group achieved new success as a four-piece, scoring a string of chart hits across the UK and Europe while taking the number of records sold to 45 million worldwide. Williams rejoined Take That in 2010 for the band's sixth studio album, Progress. It was released on 15 November of that year and became the fastest selling album of the 21st century and the second fastest selling album in British history, whilst also making it the first album of new material to feature Take That's original line-up since their 1995 album, Nobody Else. Since 2011, Take That have set the new record for the fastest selling tour of all time in the UK with Progress Live, beating the previous record set by their Circus Live Tour in 2009, won the BRIT Award for Best British Group, and were named as Amazon's top-selling music artist of all time. In 2012, the band were announced by Forbes as the fifth highest-earning music stars in the world. In the same year, the Official Charts Company revealed the biggest selling singles artists in British music chart history with Take That currently placed at 15th overall, making them the most successful boy band in UK chart history. - Wikipedia

Well done to Take That! A very surprise #1 for me, a very impressive achievement for them.
The relevance never dies
Incredible achievement for Take That! An extremely rare sight these days for a lead runner in the all-time most number 1's list to add to their tally too.
The song itself is decent enough, they've done better post reunion but as I mentioned before I prefer this at #1 over Band Aid.
YES TAKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!
Great great achievement!! Their 12th number single!!!
Sales thread up!
Really glad for Take That, These Days is a great song, I love how they always have a slightly different sound for a lot of their singles. And ofc. incredible that they can still manage a number 1 twenty two years after first arriving, particularly when this era didn't seem to have anywhere near as much hype and they've lost two members since their last album! Slaying all boy bands to this day and always~
That sales drop for Band Aid 30 will be quite brutal, but I reckon it will make it back to the top before the years out at least.
Band Aid off #1 already lol
Must Jameela (or indeed pretty much any Radio 1 DJ) give a sarcastic response to every non-Radio 1 playlisted hit? Their fanbase is far broader than mums.
Well done to Take That getting to Number 1 this week. Looking forward to seeing the album sales for III next week.
Happy for Take That! After all these years
This has proved to be a real grower for me, I love the structure of seeing Mark, Gary and Howard all sing every part together, it's quite unusual.
