Hmmm, I love both Jonjo’s suggestions. I think Blow Me is the stronger track but it’s so hard to gauge what will work. She went out with Don’t Let Me Get Me last time to Zara Larsson of all people!

I’m not a Pink expert but ‘True Love’ could be a shout. Not only is it an amazing pop song but it did cutely on the charts and even if it’s not a standout in her discography it could deffo beat three songs.

I think Blow me would be a good choice for this round. Its done really well in the recent singles poll but I wouldn't say it's one of her best hits? So it would probably be better to use it now than in later rounds?

Stupid Girls I’d rule out, it’s amazing but people don’t think they same way as they did in 2006 anymore.

So for this round we can choose from:

There you go Her first era isn't popular enough to go with TYG
Get the party started Could work, is it considered a pop classic? Its not one of my favourite Pink songs but its one of her most popular
Trouble (or do we count feel good time as the first single from try this? ) I don't think either trouble or FGT would be popular enough
Stupid girls I think this one could work, but it'd be a massive risk
So what Deffo one to save for later!
Raise your glass Another one I feel could be saved for later
What about us Could work, it was a great come back song and started off one of her strongest eras
Walk me home Not sure, its recent, but given its very little promo, is it well liked here? Popular enough to get through? Could we use this as a risk so that we can save the bigger hits until later?

Given those thoughts I'd either go with Get the party started or What about us, while also considering Walk me home and RYG

There You Go-no from me
Get The Party Started-I think this is quite popular with general pop fans, more than it is with Pink fans. I think it’s a big contender.
Trouble-popular with Pink fans but I’m not sure outside of that. (FGT wouldn’t work at all)
Stupid Girls-I love it but it’d be a huge risk. People don’t like the message these days.
So What-the best one here but definitely save it for later!
Raise Your Glass-another contender but maybe one to save?
What About Us-this could work. I do recall it being popular.
Walk Me Home-I don’t think this one would work.

I feel my top 3 choices would be

1) Get The Party Started
2) What About Us
3) Raise Your Glass

Ironically we used my favourite lead for the first round

'Bad Influence' seems like a strong choice to me - I'm biased because it was a single and a big hit in Australia, but I'd assume its partial single status (it was also a single in Germany/Austria/Switzerland in 2010, and the Netherlands in 2011) would make it better known than any album tracks?

If we're talking Australian singles there's also 'Cuz I Can', but I strongly expect I'm alone in my love for that

^ Looks like it did! Didn't know. (Not sure where the line is drawn between 'live video' and 'live performance', but Wikipedia calls it a music video at least.)

On that note, 'Glitter In The Air' had the big Grammys performance but doesn't look like it exists as a music video - is that song popular here? I don't think it'd make my vote personally but it might be better known than 'Bad Influence'.

People often won’t vote for songs they don’t know in this. Bad Influence and Glitter In The Air are both quite well known and I’m leaning more towards the former. There’s also Can We Pretend which I don’t think has a video but was a single but I really don’t think that one will do well.

What About Us isn’t that popular. It’s what lost out to a Basic Zara Larsson song last year.

Who Knew and Try are good shouts. I think perhaps we could afford to go with a pretty popular track this time round and I don’t think either of them fit the criteria for later rounds.

This is the first of the probably a few remaining free choice rounds and i feel we could afford to go with one of them now. So What and Just Like A Pill should obviously be saved for much later but I think we’re at a point where we could go with either Try or Who Knew.


I dunno, I just feel we should use a popular track if we can get away with it.

Pink's last singles rate was in 2013.

Bottom 3 were You Make Me Sick, Bridge of Light and There You Go.

I'd go with one of the CTMH singles tbh - maybe There You Go. They aren't even bad choices tbf just not really the Pink everyone loves.

There You Go would be my pick of those 3. Bridge Of Light is good but it’s very unknown which could go against it. You Make Me Sick is the worst one but it might just be too bad.

There You Go is very good for what it is. It’s no Pink fan’s favourite Pink song but it might interest casual voters. I mean, I’m biased but I find a lot of the music by most of the artists involved to be on a par with There You Go, I feel some posters may prefer RnB Pink over pop rock Pink.

'There You Go' seems the best choice. It's not even a bad song, it's just not what people are really here for with P!nk, and it is somewhat known among chart fans that it's her first single, so I think all that could work in its favour compared to other AFs who have to pick songs that are bad and unfamiliar.

It’s a bit rubbish really. I don’t like this round at all. We could have had Bad Influence but we already have. I might not have used if I’d known it had charted because I don’t have any access to too 200 charts and it didn’t go top 100.

What does everyone think? I don’t think it matters, there’s nothing amazing there and there’s a good chance this will be Pink’s last round.

I think the Eminem song has to be out. Buzzjack at large will not go for it.

I love Can We Pretend and it is the best known but I don’t remember it getting a good reception. Heartbreak Down is a bit more unknown and closer to classic Pink but people may just call it MOR Pink.

I think peoples major gripe with Can We Pretend at first (or mine anyway) was that it wasn’t a Pink song, rather a Cash Cash song with Pink vocals that was for some reason on her album. It was jarring in comparison to the rest of the album and didn’t fit - but as a single it’s a great song.

It’s well known in Australia A basic feel good dance song + Pink vocals is a sure fire radio hit here lol

'Can We Pretend' was incredibly average I felt. I find it hard to imagine many people wanting to vote it unless they have no better options.

'Heartbreak Down' is definitely better I think, and I feel like it might be better known through being on her Greatest Hits?

I had to remind myself how 'Won't Back Down' sounds - it's my favourite of the 3, but yeah an Eminem song probably wouldn't be a good idea.

In retrospect, sorry for pushing for 'Bad Influence'; I obviously had no idea of this theme (or that it made the top 200)

'Dear Mr. President' was a 'single' that didn't chart, but I'm assuming it has to be UK singles, and it's safe to say it wasn't one. 'Glitter In The Air' was just a US Hot AC/AC radio single I believe so that's almost certainly ruled out.

However, there are 'Whatever You Want' and 'Secrets'. It's a stretch to say they were promoted, but they both received music videos (I believe) and remix EPs, which is about all you could expect from post-album singles that clearly wouldn't get playlist support/chart success either way. (Even in Australia where both were radio hits, they spent a while each in the iTunes chart but never actually made the official top 100, apart from 'Whatever You Want' when it was an instant grat.)

I'm not sure if they'd be better choices than 'Can We Pretend' or 'Heartbreak Down', but I really like 'Whatever You Want'! 'Secrets' is good too.

'Bridge Of Light' and 'Today's The Day' would probably count as singles but I doubt anyone would want them. 'Glitter In The Air' I think would be considered radio-only thus ineligible (and likewise for her various Australian radio singles).

'Whatever You Want' is still my favourite from the list, but 'Dear Mr. President' might be popular and well known? Or not? I have no idea.

It might be worth querying about 'Glitter in the Air', it may have been a radio single in America but perhaps the Grammy performance and subsequent download release of it will make it eligible?

I seem to remember it was going to be a double a side with Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely) in the UK but at the time we’d just added loads of new download rules to the charts so I don’t think double a sides worked. LMA got the radio play and made the top 40 and did pretty well for the fifth single off a million selling album.

And she did! An incredible song and far it seems a lot of others are coming to the same conclusion which is amazing Fingers crossed for another round of Pink! There’s nothing worse than being booted out of the contest before getting the chance to send many truly iconic songs but honestly (for me at least) this is one of her greatest

I think she may have fallen short of the final 10. It was just infuriating to see her go out in a tie break to Zara Larsson out of everyone.

Looking at the list, Dear Mr President is actually one of the most known songs on there, I think and even without bias, it’s the best song put forward. I’ve listened to all of them today and some of it was excruciating to listen to for me. There’s definitely a disparity between my taste and the general Buzzjack taste which I guess is why I always think Pink is gonna lose out

I think even out if what I voted for, Pink aside I only really enjoyed Gaga, Madonna and Kylie.

Phew, I thought we could have gone in that round!

So-a song that ended an era. Our choices are:

1) You Make Me Sick-no
2) Family Portrait-contender
3) Last To Know-don’t think Buzzjack will go for it
4) Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely)-contender but not sure if it’s well liked
5) I Don’t Believe You-contender but could be unknown
6) f***in Perfect-contender

After that I’m not sure what the closing singles for her eras were

I’m thinking Family Portrait could be our best bet!

Family Portrait is one of her absolute best so if it has a chance to shine I say push it! Plus lyrically it will stand out in the playlist among the other songs. I do love IDBY and Last to Know as well though.

The radio thing is confusing me too! I was thinking of Glitter In The Air for another round but if it was a proper single then it won’t qualify for that!

Family Portrait and Perfect are the most well known I’d say. I also think they’re fairly highly regarded on here. It’s hard to tell which one would be for best but I think my choice would be FP.

Let’s see what other people think, but maybe we could do a poll?

So, finally a free choice round!

It’s a double round elimination to get to the final 10 but I’m also very aware Pink could fall here (she did last year)

I think we need one of the big guns: Who Knew, So What and Just Like A Pill.

Who Knew is sublime My all-time favourite Pink song and definitely a fantastic choice! I don't see Pink getting too much further either unfortunately so at least here she can have a massive round before she goes!

I feel like WK and JLAP are end game contenders so I think taking a slight risk with So What in order to get further. It seems a bit defeatist having the attitude "oh she won't last long anyway let's just use her best now".

We can definitely leave Just Like A Pill until last! I feel Who Knew stands the best chance of getting us to the next round and even if we don’t make it, it simply cannot be blamed on the song choice.

Kat Krazy Remix of Beautiful Trauma is a nice option to have, I think I’d prefer it to any of the bonus tracks suggested, but having said that I haven’t heard a lot of them in quite a while. Another option of a remix could be the Cash Cash remix of What About Us?

The original theme included singles, i.e. bonus tracks that became singles, singles that were eventually bonus tracks, or non-hit remix versions of singles! The only element that was originally not included was 'remixes that are the hit single version', and personally I didn't understand that being a distinction when other kinds of singles were allowed. So letting that kind of single into it was actually to make it more of a level playing field than it was.

The option was there to omit singles altogether. Essentially it was an "all or nothing" choice, and Inner Circle decided unanimously to go with "include all the different kinds of singles". So the theme essentially became... don't send a "normal" single or album track.

Too bad, I agree the theme was crap and should have been more limited, either B-sides/deluxe tracks or remixes but not both, and definitely not singles
but overall the themes are very messy almost each round

Interesting!

I had caught wind of this theme through an accidental spoiler but it just said 'a remix', so I had it in mind as being remixes regardless of single status, but nothing about bonus tracks or b-sides. I was thinking, say, Melanie C's 'I Turn To You' and Kelly Rowland's 'Work' would be likely for it, but many/most artists would probably have to pick from their hits' remix EPs and see if they have any standouts or how well they can maintain the appeal of the original tracks.

Personally I did feel this theme turned out a bit messy by lumping together the distinct concepts of remixes and bonus tracks, and counting re-release singles as bonus tracks (as opposed to just deluxe-only tracks/Japanese bonus tracks/etc which is what I'd normally think of by 'bonus tracks') - I think remixes alone would've been a more interesting, if more difficult, prospect.

But that said, I feel like the whole game is a test of whose discography is well-rounded enough to pass through various challenges, as opposed to a straight-up 'send the hits' contest, and to me that's one of the most fun parts. It's a shame P!nk hit such a roadblock but she wasn't the first (see Calvin and Zara) and probably won't be the last. I think she did particularly well considering that she doesn't do many remixes (of relevance), features, promo singles etc and doesn't really have the fanbase on here to have well-known non-singles.

Maybe after the singles rate, we'll have a B-side rate
