What is there to think about? It was obvious that this would happen, and more sports cancellations are inevitable. Imagine the publicity if Coronavirus was spread by means of a major sporting event, the press would be all over why the authorities allowed the event to go ahead.

Prevention is always better than a cure.

England's Six Nations games against Italy on 14 and 15 March have been postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The men's, women's and under-20s contests will be played at "a later date" say organisers.

"Six Nations fully intends to complete all 15 games in all three championships when time allows," they added.

A few of the cyclists at the World Championships had to be quarantined after coming back from the cancelled UAE tour, can't exactly have been the best preparation for them.

Valencia's Champions League last-16 tie at home to Atalanta on 10 March will be played behind closed doors in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Spain's health ministry says it wants to avoid "large gatherings of fans".

The Indian Wells tournament has been cancelled because of concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

The tournament, a combined ATP and WTA event which is one of the biggest and most prestigious outside of the Grand Slams, was due to start this week.

All sport in Italy has been suspended until at least 3 April because of coronavirus, the country's prime minister Giuseppe Conte has announced.

This includes Serie A but not Italian clubs or national teams participating in international competitions.

Wolves Europa League last 16 first-leg match at Olympiakos will be played behind closed doors as the Greek government announced yesterday that all sport events for the next two weeks will be played without any spectators.

Today in sport regarding the coronavirus:

Man United, Chelsea and Rangers matches all being played behind closed doors.


The Italian football federation (FIGC) said after a meeting on Tuesday that the Serie A season may not finish because of the coronavirus outbreak.


Matches in the top two divisions in Spain and France are to be played behind closed doors because of coronavirus concerns.

La Liga announced its ruling will affect the next two rounds of fixtures while the French league said fans will be banned until 15 April.

La Liga said it acted on guidance from Spain's ministry of health.



The Republic of Ireland's Euro 2020 play-off against Slovakia on 26 March will be played behind closed doors following a Slovak Government decision.


Leeds Rhinos' away Super League game against French side Catalans Dragons on Saturday will be played behind closed doors because of coronavirus concerns.

The following events affected by coronavirus today:

QUOTE
◾FOOTBALL: Manchester City's Premier League match with Arsenal on 11 March is postponed as a "precautionary measure" - and several Gunners players put into self-isolation.
◾FOOTBALL: The Europa League ties between Sevilla and Roma in Spain and Inter Milan's match against Getafe on 12 March have been postponed.
◾FOOTBALL: Rangers' Europa League game at Bayer Leverkusen on 19 March and the Eintracht Frankfurt-Basel tie on 12 March in the same competition will be played behind closed doors.
◾MOTORSPORT: Formula E race in Jakarta on 6 June is cancelled. It is the third race this season to be postponed.
◾FORMULA ONE: Two members of the Haas Formula 1 team and one from McLaren are in self-isolation after being tested for coronavirus at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
◾GOLF: European Tour event Hero Indian Open due to take place from March 19-22 is postponed. The Czech Masters, scheduled from August 20-23 is cancelled, along with two tournaments in the Czech Republic in May along with one in Slovakia in July on the secondary Challenge Tour.
◾FOOTBALL: French League Cup final Paris St Germain between Lyon on 4 April is postponed.
◾FOOTBALL: Timo Hubers, who plays for German second tier side Hannover tests positive for coronavirus.
◾GYMNASTICS: The International Gymnastics Federation postpones three World Cup competitions until June.
◾DARTS: The cancelled European Darts Open in Leverkusen in Germany is replaced by a Players Championship weekend in Milton Keynes on March 28 and 29.
◾CRICKET: Surrey's pre-season training camp at the ICC Academy in Dubai, due to begin on 17 March, has been cancelled.
◾FOOTBALL: Spanish Cup final between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad in Seville on 18 April is postponed.
◾TENNIS: The Fed Cup finals in Budapest from 14-18 April and other Fed Cup play-offs ties on the weekend of 17 and 18 April are postponed.
◾SPORT: Argentina has cancelled all international sporting events due to be held in the country in March. The South American Swimming Championships, World Cup fencing events, Olympic boxing qualifiers and athletics have been affected.

That's good to hear, no coronavirus testing at Arsenal following the postponement of the Man City game.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Aintree Festival got postponed. I was surprised that Cheltenham Festival went ahead.

At the moment, I can't see the Euros going ahead at all.
