sumimasen, I fell asleep Right, let's get some suggestions together for Gorillaz for the AF spinoff. I did draft some possibilities but I'm very keen to hear from others. Round 1 is Free Choice, so anything... |

So the big question for Free Choice is to go for one of their big hits, or to save those for a later round. There's plenty of less commercially successful singles and album tracks I want to include as well. If possible, have some of the tracks be rap, some be the slow and sad type they do so well, some be the more fun trip-hop type, get a balance.
i.e. my first thought for the kick off track was Dare but that's also their only #1 so that'd be mainly if we want to show off a classic, we could also do 19-2000 in a similar vein and less people would know it. I definitely want to include Rhinestone Eyes somewhere as it's possibly my favourite - and has that really long story about how it was going to be a single but they didn't have the budget to finish the video so only released a storyboard and it sort of but not really didn't get a single release until a fan FINALLY made an animated version of the storyboard years later and finished off the Plastic Beach storyline. Empire Ants would also be a really good weird one - and El Manana would be so strong if we could find a place for it On the later albums I am not such an expert as I am with Demon Days and Plastic Beach but there are some excellent tracks on both we could fit in somewhere, Tranz, Ascension, Andromeda, Submission. Out Of Body I'd like to highlight as something that could really surprise people. |

sort of really feeling the Soulchild remix of 19-2000 (pretty commonly accepted as the best version) as the first track now I've posted it
can certainly still be swayed if anyone else has any suggestions |

Rhinestone Eyes, Feel Good Inc, Dare, are all definite I’d also love Strobelite, Ascension, Andromeda, Saturnz Barz or Let Me Out would be brilliant too |

I think you're in a similar boat to me in so much as most of their songs are collaborations etc so you've probably got a relatively interchangeable set of choices.
That said, I'd be tempted to save 19-2000 because wouldn't that potentially be a better fit for round 3 (unless you have something else up your sleeve?) |

That said, I'd be tempted to save 19-2000 because wouldn't that potentially be a better fit for round 3 (unless you have something else up your sleeve?) Yeah, I mean, round 3 is almost a free choice round for me (and I don't even know the G-Sides/D-Sides that well, I could even pick from there) and so I'd want to pick a prominent remix or significant collab for that, and I was definitely considering 19-2000 as one of the leading choices for that as their best remix - the other option is to do a collab and there's plenty of good choice for that on Plastic Beach or Humanz. Basically if I do use it for round 1 then I do have something else for round 3. I could use Dare, even. But I could also use Empire Ants, Some Kind Of Nature, Ascension, Saturnz Barz. I'm easy. If we use Feel Good Inc/Clint Eastwood it'll be later on I think, there's lots of rounds they could fit into and while it's not 100% that we'll use both, hard to imagine we won't use either. I think I want something fun and bouncy for the first round so in the interests of narrowing it down: Dare 19-2000 (Soulchild Remix) Stylo* *leftfield and I don't actually expect it to get used unless there's a sudden outpouring of love as I remember it got tons of criticism but it's one of their most energetic so I want to mention it. I'll go with whichever one gets most vocal support. |

I'd go for Dare out of those. I agree I reckon the Soulchild remix of 19/2000 would be the best pick for round three.

Of the Song Machine tracks, I think Momentary Bliss would do well - it had a good reception on here

Aries is also pretty fab but yes Momentary Bliss is a good one if the votes start trending to more recent songs, I'd definitely like to get some of their newer tracks in here along with the ones from the first three albums. |

Seriously though 'DARE' would probably be a good one to start with, and I also support the idea of using at least one of the Song Machine songs in future rounds, those first 3 songs are all among their best work to date for me ('Friday 13th' isn't quite up there but still solid). |

I think even though Dare is their number 1- Feel Good Inc and Clint Eastwood are probably more remembered

right, so for LAST NON-SINGLE TRACK ON AN ALBUM, while I could mess around with different album versions and bonus tracks and remix albums, I'm going to put up the six closers from the main albums as they are on Spotify for ease.
So we choose from: M1A1 Demon Days Pirate Jet Circle Of Friends Souk Eye *no this is not a possible choice, it's not happening My take is that it's pretty obviously Demon Days. That choir, the build, the heavenly feeling, and the other four are a bit inessential. Any fans of those others to contradict me? also I guess She's My Collar is eligible if you only take the standard edition of Humanz so there's that too |

Right, are we going for 19-2000's remix, or well, nearly any track off of Plastic Beach or Humanz? Feel free to suggest any of those or any other collaborations/remixes, there's a lot of choice to go over!

I think this round will bring a lot of heavy hitters so going for something as big as this remix is the best option for Gorillaz, then leave a more obscure song from Humanz etc. for a less competitive round |

Clint Eastwood would qualify for this round also - the radio edit remix form?

I didn't click on this thread before the first round, so I will also offer a sudden outpouring of love for 'Stylo'
'Andromeda' is my favourite of their recent stuff (followed by 'Ascension' and 'Saturnz Barz'). I'm still not actually familiar with '19-2000' (any version) though so don't take this as a discouragement of it! |

'19-2000' would be a brilliant choice! 'Out of Body' also potentially quite BuzzJack friendly.
