I hate how underappreciated this album is/was

I would kill for another album like this instead of everything post-Hard Candy (the actual holy trinity are Ray of Light/Music/American Life - sorry Confessions)

Merry Christmas Madge!

May as well do this while I’m waiting for the family to get up... and it’s a clear top 3 of:

01 Intervention (by miles)
02 Die Another Day
03 Nothing Fails

I'm going to give the album another listen before I commit because there are a few songs where there is nothing between them. A fantastic album!

Nothing Fails
Intervention
Easy Ride

I think that's the first time I've voted for non-singles (pretending that 'Nothing Fails' didn't receive a release in a small selection of countries!) but this was much harder than expected. 'American Life' and 'Die Another Day' could easily have been Top 3 too so it's not like I don't love the singles too.

Definitely a surprise to see 'Love Profusion' do so well. Perhaps a case of the hate for the track (or rather the video and the decision to make it a single?) just drowns out the love.

Incredibly close this round! Poor 'I'm So Stupid' being the only one with no votes.

After listening through again, American Life, Intervention and Love Profusion have nabbed my top 3 but it was tough. Great, consistent album!

Nobody Knows Me
Easy Ride

I do love the album and the title track (expletive rap version only), Hollywood and I'm So Stupid are also fab. Die Another Day is such an odd song within the context of the album, it's so produced and doesn't really fit with the overall sound despite being a really rather good song (albeit an abysmal Bond theme).

I don't think I could choose just three from this. It's so difficult, similar with Ray of Light.

I actually find 'Die Another Day' slots in quite nicely, particularly lyrically; the idea of destroying one's ego is kind of in response to the themes dealt with in 'Hollywood' and the way the lyrics are delivered remind me of the verses to 'Love Profusion'. It probably is the most produced song but the album is full of wacky productions so it fits well for me. I also find it a great Bond song although that opens up all whole new debate! laugh.gif

Wow at 5 songs tied in the lead with 2 more just 1 vote behind! This really is her most compact album.
