Vote for which songs you'd like to see as future singles!
For me:
Alice
Fun Tonight
Plastic Doll
Sine From Above
1000 Doves
Babylon
We're obviously not going to get another six singles So I'm gonna vote for the following 4
Alice
Fun Tonight
Sine From Above
Bablyon
That was SUCH a hard choice
Can I only pick 4? this is hard trying to weigh out my favourites and also what the GP will take to!
Vote for as many as you want
It's very early days but I voted for:
Babylon
Sine From Above
Free Woman
Fun Tonight
(not necessarily in that order)
I'm going to have to have more listens to the album before I decide but, from first listen, I thought 'Alice' would make a fantastic single! I keep thinking of the incredible, trippy music video it could have!
'Sour Candy' would go down a treat in the club so I'm backing that too.
I voted for Sour Candy, Replay and Babylon.
Sour Candy is a nice club anthem that sounds far too much like Girls Like but I love it. Sexy and catchy, can see it being played a lot on the radio.
Replay I get "Don't Stop Now" vibes from but goes full throttle club banger during the hours and is brilliant.
Babylon I think would be quirky single. Starts off a bit slow but then turns into banger that sounds like Vouge and Ru Paul Drag Race, could see this going down well in the clubs much like the rest of the album.
Babylon and Sour Candy are the lock ins for me , then one or two of Alice/Free Woman/Enigma
Free Woman, Sour Candy, Sine From Above and Babylon are my choices.
I did not vote Alice because, although it's in my top 3, I see it more as the album opener and it does its job gloriously for that - setting the scene for this new wonderland experience. I also would love it to be the tour opener.
Sour Candy isn't a favourite compared to the rest, but I think it could be big!
Sine From Above HAS to be a single at some point. It's GIGANTIC.
I don't think Radio 1 would go near Sine with Elton being a feature which would be awfully disappointing
I have a feeling they're gonna go with 'Free Woman' as the next single
Sour Candy, Free Woman and Babylon are what I think would do best from a commercial point of view.
I think 'Alice', 'Sine From Above' and 'Sour Candy' would work the most so voted for those!
I’m intrigued to see how many of the songs would do as singles. The era has been so successful so far but post-album songs becoming a thing of the past.
I can see Babylon being a hit with an iconic video for sure though
Nice to see the 'Babylon' love after the very popular Haus Labs version of it didn't end up being the official version!
'Babylon' is flailing on US iTunes, behind most other songs (currently the 2nd lowest song there)! We will see how streaming looks for each song~
She usually uses initial impact to help determine singles doesn't she?
The song I see being commercially viable enough to be chosen as singles are: Free Woman, Fun Tonight, Sine From Above, 1000 Doves and obviously Sour Candy
Although I would live for 911, Plastic Doll and Alice being selected however I don’t know how they’d fare in the charts
'Fun Tonight', 'Sour Candy' and 'Sine From Above' are the ones with the most single potential, imo.
I love 'Alice', but I dunno if it'd work as a single! Maybe it would (the video has potential to be STELLAR though!)
'Sour Candy' having more votes than I expected
Alice
Babylon
1000 Doves
Enigma
Alice, Free Woman and 911 (3 votes gays really) got my votes. I see your points about Alice, Bal/Jonjo but idc it's too flawless for the GP not to know it x
Babylon being the final track on the album could be why at this point it’s amongst the lowest of the tracks on Apple
Poor 'Plastic Doll'
Sine is the winner with Babylon and Sour Candy joint second
I've voted Alice, Sine From Above and Babylon. I think those are my preferences in order - Alice is screaming for a single release and I think it would do the best imo! This Gaga/Elton collab also needs to reach the GP for the wow factor!
Sine From Above and Fun Tonight are perfect single choices
Sine From Above, Babylon and Fun Tonight would be my choices
I think I want to retract my vote for Babylon as a song on its own. With added remixes etc it could work but there are so many other potentials now that I think this is getting overshadowed a bit for me, oops.
Alice
Free Woman
Sine From Above
Babylon
Rain On Me is going to slay for a little while but I think, the next singles (in this order) should be:
3. Free Woman (it's not as brash as SL/ROM, but still demonstrates beautiful vocals and some of the album's best lyrics. It's simple yet ethereal and encapsulates exactly what Chromatica is about. Reminds me of Whitney Houston, I think she'd be foolish not to release this, especially given its one of the best performing non-singles on Spotify.)
4. Sour Candy (It's clear there's hype there so why not milk it for all it's worth? Fans want a video of the 5 together and I think letting it simmer before releasing it as a single with a video would help continue hype. I don't know how it would chart, but it's seemed to surprise a lot of us. 2020 Q4 ideally.)
5. 911 (The Clear fan-favourite deserves a shot as a single. I don't exactly expect this to smash the charts, especially given the context of the song and the self-loathing lyrics but fans/the GP seem to all agree it's on of the album's highlights.)
6. Sine From Above (A beautiful song. I think they'd be ridiculous not to release this as a single further down the line, giving the album campaign a final lease of life. It works more as a post-album single as it's perhaps the closest thing to a ballad the album has ironically. Plus the UK loves Elton so I'm sure it would chart well here.)
7. Babylon (Finish on a high. I think Babylon would be a great single and think it would be a fond farewell to an astonishing era. Will it chart well? No, it'd be the 7th single off an album, not even Taylor Swift can pull off that. But I do think a long-ass video like the old days, would be nostalgic and celebratory.)
Apparently she wants the era to be long, so why not have multiple post-album singles? I don't think any track is going to smash on a global level quite like ROM, so why not go all out? We haven't had a BIG era singles-wise since 2011. We deserve it and she waits years before dropping albums, so I'd like the duration of waiting to feel less strict and long. I want to bask in this for so long, plus the visuals (so far) have been on point!
The more I hear it the more I love Babylon. I'll be surprised if she doesn't push it as a single, I'd be interested to see how the GP get on with it if it was.
Sour Candy, Free Woman and Sine from Above, but I dunno if there are any surefire hits for the general public left, more like MTN level singles. Also, SFA would benefit from live performances the most when we get there.
Voted for my Top 4. Would be happy with any of these
Alice
Sine From Above
911
Babylon
I would go with
Alice , Sour Candy, Free Woman and then maybe Babylon but an extended new version as singles . I’m not sure Sine from Above would work as a single personally.
Sine From Above wouldn’t work as a single! Elton being the feature means radio would be reluctant to play it.
I think Alice, Free Woman, Replay and the Haus Labs version of Babylon would work.
Sour Candy also has huge potential to smash as well.
Enigma also sounds huge but as it’s amongst my personal favourites I’d be gutted if it was released and had a low peak by her standards
I’d say. Keep Sour Candy going as like a promo single / radio single.
Alice for single 3
Free Woman for single 4
Replay for single 5
Then close the era with Babylon with the remix being pushed. It makes sense for it closing the era too as it closes the album and feels like a real closer of the era tbh as she’s entering a new planet.
Sour Candy needs a video. Streaming would eat it up thanks to the masses of kpop fans.
Fun Tonight is The Edge of Glory Part 2, it needs to be a single!
Sine From Above is the clear top on my list. First, because it's genuinely my favorite of the songs not released so far. Second, I actually think the presence of Elton John is more reason to release it. While our generation rightfully fights for representation for a lot of different people in music...ageism kinda remains this largely unaddressed thing. After 40...an artist *might* have a couple more years to have a hit....but then they're supposed to just fade away and disappear? Why? They've only lived half their life. I don't know the stats for the UK...but I'm fairly sure Cher remains the only person over 50 in America to manage a number one (in the past 50 years, anyway).
Sine From Above has a chance to at least swipe back at ageism. Elton is 73. And if anyone deserves a genuine hit, it's someone who's been an LGBT icon for literally decades.
Anyway. Other than Sine From Above...it's a bit harder to say. What I want to be a single usually leaps out at me on her albums. This time...the songs are largely on an even scale for me (not saying that's a bad thing...the songs are good). I can say this. I'm not positive it's the best single choice or not...but the chorus of Plastic Doll has been playing in my head for days.
Poor Plastic Doll/Enigma
Official Charts are doing a poll to see what the next single should be: https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/what-should-lady-gaga-release-as-the-next-single-from-chromatica__29925/
Maybe we need another poll that isn't multiple choice and we pick single 3?
The poll results on the OCC are as I expected! I voted for Alice as I think that seems to be the most wide-appealing song not released as a single. I would also like Sine From Above for the reasons stated above as well as to get the song into the public eye!
Alice/Replay/Sine from Above
