Hello, good evening, welcome, this is John fresh from The Penelopes Sweet Song accidentally getting runners-up in the last competition. I’m sure it’s a fluke, but it at least gives me the chance to host this the 18th UP-based funtastic excite-orama.
You may not know (in fact I know you not know) but there is another UP - yes, it’s true, long before there were Unknown Pleasures there was the United Planets - the democratic alliance of planets in the 30th century under the protective wing of The Legion Of Super Heroes, DC Comics 1958-established super-team (later nicked wholesale by X-Men, Avengers and many other Marvel-lous superhero teams). Back in the 60’s and 80’s they were mega in the comics world. Outside the comics world, they are indeed an Unknown Pleasure, so that’s a UP two-fer.
The mortal enemies of the UP are The Khunds, and also as is anyone that doesn’t follow these simple rules as cut n pasted from the REAL winner of the last contest (Hi Lewww!) who also hosted the one before and needs a break from hosting before his poor hands get permacramp from all the typing. Above and beyond the call of duty!
It's an interstellar song contest that allows you to feast your ears on the more obscure music in existence, and anyone is welcome to join. We DO however keep a lenient cap on numbers
at around [b]~30 MEMBER WORLDS[/b] so confirm / reserve your place within the contest quickly to ensure your inclusion.
This contest continues to bring the best of the more alternative and unknown side of music, but to do so we have to go through a few ground rules.

001 There is no strict rule with regard to genre or length, but please do send something you think is suited to this competition, to help establish an identity away from BJSC.
002 The artist must not have reached the Planet Earth UK Top 75 Singles Chart or the UK Top 40 Albums Chart.
003 The song must not be on the current UK release schedule.
004 You must not choose an artist / song that has been previously entered in another edition of Unknown Pleasures. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=139865
005 You must not choose an artist that has been previous entered in any BJSC contest. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104463
006 An artist can not be entered twice in this contest simultaneously, so it happens on a first-come-first-served basis.
007 You must not reveal or hint at which song you have sent as it defeats the point of the 'Unknown' element of the competition.
008 Our sponsors and benign board of governors based at the Webers World UP political centre (location district: Indie/alternative, of the Mods Forum (Jake, 152chris, Grebo) reserve the right to veto any song that we feel does not fit the spirit of the competition. So don’t be a Khund, and join the fun(d).
009 We also reserve the right to change the rules at any time. Muahaha.

Please send your submissions via PM to MY ACCOUNT. You must do this by Saturday, October 25th at 23:59PM GMT. They must include:
✖ Artist Name
✖ Song Name
✖ Audio link (YouTube, Soundcloud, Vimeo etc.)
✖ MP3 Link (preferably 256kpbs or 320kpbs, as lower quality MP3s tend to suffer within the context of this competition.) and I suggest strongly that it be via Sendspace, as I use an early 80’s ZX Spectrum to access the internet and it can’t handle anything complicated. OK, not ACTUALLY, but it’s so full of rubbish I can’t get the lid down.....
OK, now the gates are open and....off we go! (Confirmed are subject to Mod approval and change of entry but all seem to fit the criteria so far, yay!)

I'm changing my entry to something that's probably equally likely to flop (but I've just discovered it and I love it, definitely feels like an Unknown Pleasures kind of song as well ~ though possibly a 'last place in Unknown Pleasures' one).

Obviously I'm not a mod but 30 has never been an absolute limit in this I think, it's just 'around 30' so one more entry will do no harm. There are often people that reserve and never actually enter anyway.

All sorted and amended! If it helps with mp3's I can now download dropbox sendspace and zippyshare, though have trouble with others due to password problems (as in it's my dad's old laptop and passwords long-forgotten so can't install stuff on it - sorry for any hassles!)

3 days and a bit to go, a gentle reminder to please check the list of declarations as 8 to declare and one to send an alternative (in case the message I sent didn't get through) as sadly (or happily!), the bit about not making the singles and albums charts still remains a key point to consider before sending.
If anyone else wants to jump in, that's also probably OK in case there are no-shows. No panic in terms of sending entries, but wouldn't want anyone to miss the deadline saturday 23.59 hours!

there may (or may not) be a couple of blips due to lack of proper research on my part, I've attempted to notify by PM just in case but not getting through for some reason (says does not exist!), so sorry about doing it this way, but suggest it might be worth getting a back-up track ready just in case if I was the one that managed to get an advertised FreeDL download of your entry....

sorry for the delays! I've changed 2, waiting on a 3rd and then Ive got to work out how to link the youtubes and soundclouds to the list. Mp3's will follow soon as I get them all...
I'll check for messages in a bit, so if it comes through it may be in hour or so - if I flop the next slot is shortly after 9 tomorrow when it will be up.
