On episode 5 and WHAT AN EPISODE.
Beautifully tragic. The way it was executed was outstanding! I'm honestly gobsmacked that it's as good as it is coz the critics have usually been way off the mark with horrors in recent times ('Hereditary' being the most recent example imo) but this is really exceeding my already high expectations. In all honesty, the next 5 episodes can be complete and utter shit and I wouldn't care. The bent neck lady character is outstanding. Already one of the scariest characters of all time for me. Can this sweep the Emmys next year please? Acting awards. SFX awards. VFX awards. Sound mixing awards. Score awards. Everything. |

Totally agree with this. I guessed the twist quite shortly, but it's reveal is really well executed and really hits a nerve. I have just watched episode 8 and complete shit myself. I was not expecting that scare at all! The single greatest and most perfectly executed jump scare ever, perhaps. I generally hate jump scares as a cheap trick but that was astonishingly well done. |

I've been really bad at posting about the TV shows I've been watching lately but this is probably the best thing I've seen all year! I watched it around Halloween but I'm already feeling like I need to rewatch it. I really loved the characters and their plotlines and just how the story was told overall, I don't wanna be *that* person but I didn't find it that scary if I'm honest but it does take some really f***ed up psychological horror to get me, this was kinda low key that for me as I'm not one to react to jump scares etc (aside from that one in the car with Theo and Shirely jfc) but it was still really cleverly done and freaky enough to get you thinking!
Also I'm in love with Theo, if I was in that house it would be her that'd be the end of me nevermind anything else x |

Okay so I am finally watching this and with 4 episodes in I'm COMPLETELY blown away. If the next episodes are even better then this will go down as one of the best TV shows of the last few years for sure. Not risking watching the bent neck lady episode this late at night so will continue tomorrow lol.
The acting is beyond amazing! The characters are all well thought out and written. The very few jump scares that are there are extremely effective. Very intense viewing that keeps you on the edge of the seat throughout. And the regular non-jumpy scary things get you not with murder clown faces etc. but with clever imagery, emotions and build up to that. |

Episode 5 is probably the single best television episode I've seen in a long time. So, enjoy Pavel!!

Episode 6 is my favourite so far. So tragic and intense. The acting is unbelievable too!
I didn't see the bent neck lady episode twist coming at all. What a show *.* |

That jump scare in episode 8! I knew how it was going to happen but didn't know when and it still terrified me.
And the subsequent scene. HOLY. SHIT. The single best scene in the entire show so far. Completely blown away by the writing and execution of that monologue. I must say I love that this show is not very standard horror-y. The scares are so much more psychological than physical. Not showing almost any blood and guts and gruesome murders at all. Even all the ghosts are not that scary out of context. |

The ending was so disappointing and went against the ethos of the series. I don't understand the decision to romanticise the house and wrap everything up with such an uncharacteristically happy ending. I have to agree with this + Chez' thoughts completely. It very much reminded me of the AHS: murder house ending too except it was sadder there since the entire family died oops. But I can let it slide on the account of the entire show being SUCH a huge thrill to watch from start to finish! I loved how all the seemingly random at first pieces just fit at the end especially after Nell's speech about time being non linear. |

i stiiilllll need to write down my full LOVE for this show and admiration for its brilliance BUT
Netflix have confirmed Season 2 will come in 2020, titled The Haunting of *** ***** - they won’t reveal the full title! Seemingly confirms it will be an anthology though which is great news as the story of Season 1 was perfect |

It’s The Haunting of Bly House - meaning an interpretation of The Turn of the Screw. I remember watching the recent BBC TV series which was creepy enough, let alone this. Very excited!

Just on episode 4. It’s good but as you say a slow burner. A few jumpy moments, my housemate who I’m watching this with bricks it at least once an episode!
