Jennifer Lopez's Official biggest songs in the UK revealed
Happy birthday J-Lo! To celebrate, we count down your big ones.
Written by: Justin Myers

It's Jennifer Lopez's birthday! Can you believe that J-Lo herself is 47 years old this weekend? She doesn't look a day over 21.

To celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the queen of Pitbull collaborations and generally looking amazing, we present a countdown of her biggest selling singles in the UK.

The Top 5

Claiming pole position is the most famous of Jennifer's many successful collaborations with her old mucker Pitbull. Together they reinvented a ample from Kaoma's old hit Lambada with new lyrics and, of course, a rap from Mr worldwide himself, and did what the original never managed to do – hit Number 1! On The Floor was J-Lo's third chart-topper and a first for Pitbull and it's sold a frankly whopping 908,600 copies.

Next up, in silver position, it's the song where it all began. If You Had My Love was Jennifer's big popstar debut, making the Top 10 in the UK in 1999, peaking at Number 4. It was the very first of 17 Top 10 hits for Jen, and its reality TV-inspired video actually predates the UK version of Big Brother, but does look a little like the first series – that's J-Lo's #impact. 366,000 copies sold.

Another collaboration comes in third, this time Jen's 2011 team-up with rapper Lil Wayne – I'm Into You. It may have only reached Number 9 – we say 'only', a Top 10 is a Top 10 – but it's sales that count. 270,000 of you clicked 'buy' on this one.

Fourth place goes to another early one, off Jennifer's debut album On the 6 – Waiting For Tonight. The surprisingly dancey follow-up to R&B jam If You Had My love, Waiting For Tonight went Top 5 and has sold 255,000 copies. Its video is a chilling reminder of the worldwide fear of the so-called Millennium Bug – Jen looks quite anxious when midnight comes at her very futuristic looking New Year bash, doesn't she?

Rounding off the Top 5, it's got horns, it's got hand claps – it's Get Right. Back in 2005, brass instrumentation bops were all the range, and Jennifer didn't want to miss out, so she unleashed Get Right and only went and had her second Number 1 with it! It's sold 253,000 copies.

Notable entries

Ain't It Funny makes the list twice, with the reswizzled version from remix album J To Tha L-O (this really happened) finishing at 6, and the more poppy original down at 14. Jennifer's first Number 1, Love Don't Cost A Thing, lands at 7. Two LL Cool J collabs make the cut, 2004's All IK Have 99) and the massive banger Control Myself from 2005 (12).

Here's the full Official Top 20 biggest selling Jennifer Lopez singles:

Seems like a sales only list, which could mean that 'On the Floor' could be over a million with streams.

'Jenny from the Block' feels too low given its status.

I don't even recognise half that list. Love Don't Cost a Thing, Play, Ain't It Funny and Jenny from the Block have all been outsold by Get Right? Play only just makes the top 10? And Ain't It Funny is number 14?! WOW

What also shocks me is that Let's Get Loud was never released here - that's a great song

So many amazing hits wub.gif They really screwed up with her Greatest Hits though and missed off some of her biggest UK hits and 'Ain't Your Mama' is crying for a tiny bit of promo here to become a hit.

Get Right and Play - absolute tunes

Surprised Jenny from the Block is so low - I'd say it was one of her most memorable hits.

I'm into You being the 3rd highest is also surprising, guess it was released in the right era

in perspective, crazy that Ain't It Funny was a top 5 twice in the space of months!!

Although billed as a re-mix, the second Ain't It Funny was actually a completely different song to the first - the only thing they had in common was the words 'Ain't It Funny'.

My Top 10 J-Lo singles:

01 On the Floor
02 Get Right
03 Papi
04 If You Had My Love
05 Love Don't Cost a Thing
06 Ain't It Funny
07 Jenny from the Block
08 Let's Get Loud
09 Live It Up
10 Dance Again

A classic/recent heavy list but I've discovered a lot of great stuff in her back catalogue whilst compiling that could easily sneak in once I'm more familiar with them.

It's a shame that songs like Jenny From The Block, All I Have and Get Right would've been BIG sellers if it wasn't for the sales climate they were released in. Loving the Get Right recognition nonetheless. heart.gif

It's a shame her #11 smash I'm Glad isn't anywhere to be seen but hey ho.

I remember 'Live It Up' was a personal chart #1 for me and I don't regret it a bit. biggrin.gif Totally agree that the 'remix' of 'Ain't It Funny' is terrible too.

'Play' was one of the songs I've only heard for the first time but am already feeling it could become one of my favourites - only just missed out on my Top 10 actually.
