It’s that time of year again where we discuss who of the three premier league teams will get demoted to the championship next season and here is how the bottom half of the table is looking as things stand;

It looks like it’s between 5-7 clubs to throw it away toward the business end of the season, so have your say now.

I’m saying;

18th Everton
19th Burnley
20th Sheffield United

Nottingham Forest will struggle I’m sure, and Luton don’t look comfortable for victories, but I genuinely think Everton are close enough to the drop that they will bottle it somehow as they seem to do every season. I think maybe a single point will separate 17th from 18th and it’s close enough that it may come down to goal difference which is where Luton and Forest will struggle presently. But as a neutral, I would like to see Luton stay up for another season at least.

Burnley & Sheffield United will certainly get relegated. For the 3rd spot I just have the feeling that it will end up being Luton who go down, they've been in too many situations this season where they've ended up losing matches after getting themselves into winning positions and although they score quite a lot they also concede far too many goals. The whole energy that surrounds Luton is one of hard luck, they are arguably the most entertaining team to watch in the league but I have the feeling that all these points they've lost from winning positions will do the damage by the end of the season.

There's also various points deductions that will come into it though which could even go beyond May 19th with teams appealing and investigations being carried out. But for an un-manipulated final league table I think the total Wins, Draws & Losses would all add up to Luton naturally taking 18th place but the points deductions of other teams could be what eventually keeps them in it.

Everton could get another points deduction, right?

Burnley and Sheffield are absolutely finished, both have zero chance of surviving. Then I'll go for Forest to join them after 10 appeals and 5 weeks after the prem has finished.

Didn’t realise Burnley are only 4 points from safety though right?

Gone for Burnley, Forest and Sheffield, but of course it depends on what happens with all the deductions!

Luton haven't won in 9, Everton haven't won in 12 with another deduction likely, Forest have one win in 9. Burnley are now unbeaten in 4 and are only four points off safety, I don't see how anyone can say they're definitely gone. I think there's a high possibility of a Burnley vs Forest final day shootout to survive.
