Looks like Anja's in a spot of bother after it was discovered Emmelie de Forest had been performing the song in concerts during 2014! Personally I see no issue with that in regards to the Eurovision rules with the 1st September 2015 date as Anouk and Alyona Lanskaya were both allowed as there was no significant commercial advantage to their songs being released before the allowed date, which was a loophole introduced in recent years I think - so I think Never Alone would fit into that.

In regards to DMGP I'm not sure, but apparently there's a loophole in their rules too that allows for a similar sort of thing and apparently the organisers were already aware of this prior to selection. It remains to be seen if the publicising of the drama means that Anja and/or her song will be disqualified. I don't think it should be though!

Turns out the Never Alone demo submitted to DR was sung by Emmelie and DR were wanting/expecting Emmelie to be the one singing it in Melodi Grand Prix, until it turned out Emmelie couldn't make it fit in her schedule.

Would've been interesting to see a former winner return to a national final so soon after their win, can't remember the last time there was just a couple of years between the two (not counting Lena as she was an internal selection so automatically made it to Eurovision).

The EBU have confirmed to the Danish broadcaster should 'Never Alone' win DMGP, it won't be disqualified.

Veronicas Illusion – The Wrong Kind - 9.5/10 - It's the Sats covering What Have I Done To Deserve This *.* Perhaps this will turn up in BJSC once it finishes last in DMGP. I LOVE this though, brilliantly trashy, Silas listen to this now *.*
Good thing I wandered in here to see if Denmark was going to send something that didn't make me want to vomit this year after their last two disasters!

This is most EXCELLENT and a 100% certain Ashtonise entry if they are robbed at DMGP.

Correct decision, it wouldn't have been consistent to not allow it after Birds and Solayoh. Not that I think it will win anyway, pretty sure it will be Simone or Muri & Mario at this stage!

A far from ideal running order draw for Simone supporters, she is on 2nd! sad.gif Her closest challengers Muri & Mario and Anja have perfect slots of 9th and 10th out of the 10 respectively. And I don't think DMGP do superfinals now do they, so she won't get a second performance to counteract that disadvantage.

Anja's odds have subsequently dropped from around 7-8/1 down to 3/1, Kristal is quite fancied at 4/1 at the moment too. Simone still clear odds-on favourite however!

Oh scrap that, just read this on ESC Forum:

QUOTE
The superfinal is back!

In the first round of voting, the top 3 will be chosen by an expert jury and televoting, each accounting for 50%.

In the second round of voting, the winner will be chosen by televoting only.

Another new thing is the introduction of a Melodi Grand Prix app. People who have downloaded the app will be able to cast one vote for each song free of charge. A similar app was introduced in the Danish version of X Factor last year.

The app is available for iOS and Android devices.

Sounds good!

TONIGHT'S NATIONAL FINAL...

DENMARK
Dansk Melodi Grand Prix

13th February 2016
Begins at 7pm in the UK, 8pm in Denmark and Central Europe
The show is scheduled to last 2 hours

Watch the selection via the official DR webcast

Running Order
Click ♫ to listen to the studio versions of each song!

01 | David Jay - Rays Of Sunlight
02 | Simone - Heart Shaped Hole
03 | Bracelet - Breakaway
04 | Sophia Nohr - Blue Horizon
05 | Veronicas Illusion - The Wrong Kind
06 | Lighthouse X - Soldiers Of Love
07 | Kristel Lisberg - Who Needs A Heart
08 | Jessica - Break It Good
09 | Muri & Mario - To stjerner
10 | Anja Nissen - Never Alone

Voting
The voting will consist of two rounds. The first round of voting will be 50% jury vote and 50% televote, with the 5-member jury consisting of former Danish Eurovision representative Chanée, songwriter John Gordon (writer of Lena's 'Satellite'), OGAE Denmark member Mette Thorning Svendsen, choreographer Vicky Leander and radio host Dennis Johannessen. The three entries with the highest combined score will then progress to the superfinal where 100% televoting will decide the winner.

Potential Winners?
At the time of writing, Betfair tells us that Simone is favourite to win on odds of 4/6 however she has been drifting slightly over the last few days. This has brought Anja Nissen and Muri & Mario back into contention who are second and third favourites with odds of 7/2 and 4/1 respectively. Kristel Lisberg can be considered to have an outside chance with odds of 11/2 but the rest of the entries are on odds of 12/1 or higher and it would therefore be a big shock if any of the other six took victory.

Dress rehearsal snippets for the 4 favourites:

Simone: https://www.instagram.com/p/BBst4XuumHa/
Kristel: https://www.instagram.com/p/BBsvY3POmKt/
Muri & Mario: https://www.instagram.com/p/BBswn6aOmNP/
Anja: https://www.instagram.com/p/BBswv6vumNY/

Simone has confetti in the final chorus, but so does Muri & Mario and a couple of other acts! Anja has lots of fireworks in the final chorus, and reports from the press centre following the dress rehearsal say that the press members believe Anja is the most likely winner.

Simone is my favourite but if Anja did pull out the win I'd be over the moon with that also. I just want to avoid Muri & Mario out of the big 3, as while I do like their song in studio version it doesn't match up to the two girls. (I haven't heard Kristel's song yet!)

Oh its worth mentioning that Muri & Mario do have an English version (with a bit of Italian) ready to go if they do win DMGP...

And one more thing, here are the results from the dress rehearsal audience poll that has correctly predicted the winner and second place in the televoting in the past 2 years:

Lighthouse X - 48.7 %
Anja Nissen - 21.5 %
Bracelet - 11.5 %
Sophia Nohr - 7.4 %
David Jay - 2.9 %
Simone - 2.3 %
Muri & Mario - 2.3 %
Jessica - 1.7 %
Veronicas Illusion 1.1 %
Kristel Lisberg - 0.7 %

(349 people were polled, representing about 15-20% of the dress rehearsal audience.)

I didn't see that one coming! kink.gif

Some new odds from bookmakers other than Betfair that I mention in the post above, and the Danish bookmaker is probably most reliable you would think:

Danske Spil

Simone 2.25
Anja Nissen 2.75
Muri & Mario 6.00
Kristel Lisberg 11.00
Lighthouse X 18.00
Bracelet 28.00
Sophia Nohr 30.00
David Jay 35.00
Jessica 50.00
Veronicas Illusion 65.00

Bet365

Simone 2.15
Anja Nissen 3.20
Muri & Mario 4.50
Lighthouse X 10.00
Kristel Lisberg 10.00
Bracelet 19.00
Sophia Nohr 31.00
Jessica 41.00
David Jay 51.00
Veronicas Illusion 101.00

The hype for Anja certainly fits in with everything I'm reading tonight. This is all quite reminiscent of last year when Anti Social Media were favourites all the way from the premiere of the songs, admittedly not as strong favourite as Simone has been, but Anja, like Anne Gadegaard, comes through at the end following the dress rehearsals. While Anti Social Media still won, Anne ended up winning the televoting. And with the return of the televote-only superfinal this year...
