A pop icon returns on Friday.

*.* very interested in hearing this. No one's heard anything from her in 15+ years (well I haven't). Been playing some of her hits earlier in the year and they are still bops. 'Lately' is seriously underrated though. Sounds lovely still and an example of Samantha delivering on the ballad front!

Was playing her a couple of days ago (Lately 😍)

It’s never going to be a hit but good for her

Omg hype, but I listened to her 2014 single the other day and that was hilariously awful!!!

Hopefully this is better.

I’ve got her album from 2000 and it’s really good! A belated welcome return!!

Such a shame it all went so flat outside her debut album.

Looks like she's releasing this on her own label, so yeah, I wouldn't expect this to become a hit.

I mean even if it was released under a major label, it was never going to be a hit!

lol, well, yeah, but at least with a major label they could probably push it a bit better and get it at least C-listed on Radio 2 or something.

I think this is a strange move... unless she's gonna really indulge herself in the R&B/atmospheric sound like Tinashe or JoJo and not bother about chart success...

Realistically, the more intelligent move would have been to do what Kelis did with 'Milkshake' and get 'Gotta Tell You' remixed as a 2020 version with a DJ.

She's already done that in 2008...

Excited about this even if it's just for the sheer novelty of waiting on a new single by Samantha Mumba. "Gotta Tell You", "Always Come Back To Your Love" and "Baby Come On Over" remain transcendant.

Can't wait for this!! w00t.gif

Her disappearing after a massive first era has always been such a mystery for me.

She had a MySpace around the time Gotta Tell You 2008 was released and they were obviously of a dancier sound to fit in with the AATW stable at the time. I think the biggest issue for her is that all her attempts to release new music has always been slightly half-hearted and from that tv show she did circa 2007, Harvey Goldsmith: Get Your Act Together, she came across as a bit lazy. I'm guessing her or her management realises this as this appearance has been removed entirely from her Wikipedia.

This is actually decent, well done Sammy!

It's sounds a lot less poppy than her older material. It's pretty nice, nothing outstanding, but she delivered.

I preferred Candyland:
