Hello again everyone and thank you to the twenty of you who have submitted a song for the Britpop edition of our fine contest! Shockingly nobody went for either of the two powerhouse acts of Blur or Oasis so we won't be able to relive the battle in the results show... but hurrah because that means that we've all been much more inspired with our choices And the list of songs for you to delight over during the next two weeks are as follows... 01 ♥ Silver Sun - Lava 02 ♥ Bis - Kandy Pop 03 ♥ Stereophonics - Looks Like Chaplin 04 ♥ Feeder - High 05 ♥ Manic Street Preachers - 4st 7lb 06 ♥ The Auteurs - Lenny Valentino 07 ♥ Animals That Swim - Pink Carnations 08 ♥ The Boo Radleys - Martin, Doom! It's Seven O'Clock 09 ♥ Dubstar - No More Talk 10 ♥ Suede - Europe Is Our Playground 11 ♥ Super Furry Animals - Hermann Loves Pauline 12 ♥ Ash - Petrol 13 ♥ Elastica - Stutter 14 ♥ Spacehog - In the Meantime 15 ♥ Mansun - Stripper Vicar 16 ♥ Pulp - Your Sister's Clothes 17 ♥ Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Patio Song 18 ♥ Rialto - Monday Morning 5:19 19 ♥ Salad - Granite Statue 20 ♥ The Divine Comedy - Tonight We Fly You have almost two weeks to decided upon and submit your votes, the deadline is 23:59 on FRIDAY 31st MAY. Please try to stick to the deadline as I won't have a lot of time around that period so I'll need to be able to do the results taking place over the weekend of 1st/2nd June. Anyone can vote so if you forgot to enter then you're very welcome to still send me through your points. For those of you that entered, obviously the expectation is that you'll vote but should you sadly decide not to then your entry will receive a deduction to compensate. Votes are to be submitted to me by PM please and are to be in the typical Eurovision style as follows: 12 (your favourite) 10 08 07 06 05 04 03 02 01 (your 10th favourite) Hope you enjoy the contest and find something you like! D* |

Well done everyone resisting the temptation to try Oasis or Blur
I recognise most of the artist names here unsurprisingly but I don't think I've heard any of the songs. Looking forward to listening! |

Came across a few of these names while searching myself! No songs I know, but interested to find out x
Love Gorky's Zygotic Mynci showing up, my favourite chart trivia. |

Yes I feel like people have largely got the balance right this time. The people who went for Pulp and Suede went for b-sides, whilst most others have gone for lesser known singles or album tracks.
There were a few songs I had in mind with this theme that I thought would be popular but still be within the rules, a couple of them have turned up so I’ll be interested to see if they do as well as I would have predicted. |

On the plus side, I don't need to learn any of the songs as I'm familiar with them all, but will definitely have a reminder of a few I haven't heard in a while.
Not sure about how I feel about that Manics track being there though. It's one of my favourite tracks on my favourite album but given how much the band actively hated the whole Britpop scene (even their era relevant anthem - A Design For Life - was partly inspired by how much they hated it), it feels quite far out on the fringes of the plus element. That being said it's a grimly compelling diary of terminal, advanced stage anorexia, and one of the bands true masterpieces, so I can't really leave it out, can I? |

I probably would have disallowed anything from Morning Glory, Parklife or Different Class tbh, even if it was an album track. I'd have allowed something from Modern Life is Rubbish though. Also, I was tempted to add a pretend 21st entry of the PSBs just for the laugh
Thanks for hosting the sync tube session Rollo |

Sent my votes I ended up rating them all Metacritic-style out of 100 as I listened through and the song that just missed out on a point got 76% so the caliber was really high! Some great finds!

I know all the bands and have seen half of them live. I don’t recognise all the song titles though.

The link is here, there will be three warm up songs so the actual entries will follow at about 8.10. We should be finished by 9.30.

Only managed to catch - Manics (x11), Suede, (x2), Boo Radleys, Pulp, SFA and Mansun. Used to see haf of Elastica in the pub but can't really count that. |

Voted also - I knew more than half these songs beforehand, but a few I didn't know have scored quite highly.
