Rupert Murdoch's News UK TV has been approved for launch. That's now News UK TV and GB News looking to launch in the new year. Fortunately it looks like News UK TV is going to be running in the evenings only (a TV equivalent to Times Radio) and GB News won't be a rolling news channel so thankfully leaves rolling news to Sky and the BBC for now.

As part of the "war on woke", The Mash Report has been axed by the BBC
Really hoping, as many others are, that Channel 4 will pick up the show. I feel a prayer circle is needed for Mock The Week and Frankie Boyle's New World Order. |

Such a crap decision that has clearly been made for political reasons. It was a well watched show with a good reach to demos that aren’t typical users of the BBC

All programmes on BBC 1 and ITV are cancelled for the rest of the day to make way for new reports and tributes for Prince Phillip.

In a surprise to no one, Alex Scott is the new host of A Question of Sport. A very predictable but decent choice! I'm on the bandwagon that it was one show that worked and no changes were needed, but I guess the proof will be in the pudding to see how the new format / line up works. The tabloids are reporting that Alex Scott will be a panellist, with various comedians being trialled for hosting - with Jack Whitehall as the favourite. He does seem a bit too big for it? But I'm not complaining! |

All programmes on BBC 1 and ITV are cancelled for the rest of the day to make way for new reports and tributes for Prince Phillip. Even in this circumstances, it's strange to see the normal schedules are currently suspended on both BBC One AND BBC Two until 6am tomorrow. ITV currently saying news until 7pm and then pre-prepared obit documentary from 7pm until 9pm. I suspect it may change for BBC Two whilst they work out what is "safe" to show as an alternative to obit coverage on BBC One. Very interesting to see the change in approach from when The Queen Mother died in 2002 where Saturday night programming went ahead in part with some changes. Given we're now in the age of multi-channel and streaming, you'd think they'd have less blanket coverage not more than The Queen Mother's death! |

I remember everything was cancelled when Diana died but that was a massive shock. I don’t remember much changing for Princess Margaret’s death and my memory of the Queen Mother’s is similar to yours where most things carried on, it was Easter weekend actually.
Part of me wonders if they’re going in this hard today, it’s because of the current climate in Britain. |

Very very disturbing allegations against Noel Clarke came out yesterday, really saddening to hear :/
ITV have pulled the final episode of his new series 'Viewpoint' tonight - and it will be put on the ITV Hub only. |

I'm on the bandwagon that it was one show that worked and no changes were needed, but I guess the proof will be in the pudding to see how the new format / line up works. Last night was the last episode involving Sue Barker as host with Matt and Phil as captains. The show worked as it is, I'm fearing that they might try and turn it into They Think It's All Over? |

Channel 4 and More 4 went off air on Saturday due to a "technical problem", the broadcaster said.
Viewers said a still screen was shown for about 25 minutes on Channel 4 before normal broadcasting resumed, while those watching More 4 said they saw flashing images. Channel 4 has not said what the cause was, only blaming "technical issues". But Welsh broadcaster S4C said it had faced its own technical problems after a fire at a London distribution centre. Channel 4 confirmed two channels were temporarily off air in a tweet, though service has now resumed. Some viewers said Film4 and E4 were also affected. The broadcaster tweeted: "Channel 4 and More 4 are currently off air due to a technical problem. We are working to restore them as quickly as possible." A spokesperson later said: "We did come off air due to technical issues and steps were taken to put this right as soon as possible." S4C, the Welsh language public service TV broadcaster, tweeted: "Unfortunately following a fire at a London distribution centre we are experiencing technical problems. Apologies." Separately, Channel 5 also went off air on Saturday. Some viewers saw a message on the channel which said: "We apologise for the interruption. We'll be back with you as soon as we can." |
