Voting has now closed so let's get on with the results! Thanks for a big turnout. Firstly let's get out of the way all of the tracks literally no one cares for.
#57. 6ix9ine & Nicki Minaj - Trollz UK chart run: 12-31-43-65-x [4 weeks] Points: -16 | Positive votes: 00 | Negative votes: 08 Finishing 3rd in the Hatechart, and now dead last in this poll having received 8 sets of negative votes - the most for any song this year, without anyone attempting to save it from a negative score. It became 6ix9ine's 4th top 20 hit and hopefully his last now that the novelty of him coming back from prison seems to have worn off already. #56. Vera Lynn - Land of Hope and Glory UK chart run: 17-x [1 week] Points: -02 | Positive votes: 00 | Negative votes: 01 Vera Lynn managed more chart relevance in 2020 than any year since the 1950s although it was due to a campaign that this managed to chart from those annoyed at the BBC ""banning"" the song being sung at the Proms. Perhaps if 'We'll Meet Again' were here instead she'd have a positive score. #51. Skepta, Chip & Young Adz - Waze UK chart run: 18-40-65-x [3 weeks] Points: ±00 | Positive votes: 00 | Negative votes: 00 Well it seems like tradition now for at least one Young Adz song to appear in this list with zero points. A collab album with Skepta & Chip that no one on Buzzjack asked for got them this brief top 20 hit. #51. GRM Daily pts. M Huncho & Dutchavelli - Burning UK chart run: 13-18-28-37-41-51-54-62-72-x [9 weeks] Points: ±00 | Positive votes: 00 | Negative votes: 00 Another rap song here now this time "by" the promotor GRM Daily who seem to get their name in the chart every so often. It featured two rappers that Buzzjack seem to not care for at all, so hardly a surprise this is on no points. #51. Drake feat. Playboi Carti - Pain 1993 UK chart run: 17-62-x [2 weeks] Points: ±00| Positive votes: 00 | Negative votes: 00 Drake managed a very brief hit with this following the mixtape release largely from hype from his fans surrounding it being a collab with Playboi Carti. The song however ended up being a big disappointment so fell a lot quicker than you'd otherwise expect. #51. Digga D - Chingy (It's Whatever) UK chart run: 18-21-24-33-40-54-69-x [7 weeks] Points: ±00| Positive votes: 00 | Negative votes: 00 Digga D managed two hits this year after getting out of prison further cementing himself as one of the biggest names in Drill. Not that Buzzjack care much for drill music clearly as this too gets no points. #51. Da Beatfreakz feat. Dutchavelli, DigDat & B Young - 808 UK chart run: 20-25-35-38-51-65-x [6 weeks] Points: ±00| Positive votes: 00 | Negative votes: 00 Another forgettable British rap hit here from production group Da Beatfreakz which also means Dutchavelli has both of his songs here scoring no points, and DigDat is also in this section for a 2nd year running after 'New Dior' got nothing last year. |

#50. J Hus feat. Burna Boy - Play Play
UK chart run: 11-19-20-28-30-29-31-30-40-x [9 weeks] Points: ±00 | Positive votes: 01 | Negative votes: 01 Saved at the last minute from a negative score, J Hus managed to get one reasonably sized hit this year with this track full of gun metaphors. #48. S1mba feat. KSI - Loose UK chart run: 14-28-32-46-50-54-62-73-x [8 weeks] Points: +03 | Positive votes: 01 | Negative votes: 00 S1mba managed to get one big hit this year which was then followed up by this which got him a minor 2nd hit mostly by virtue of it featuring KSI. #48. J Hus feat. Iceè tgm - Big Conspiracy UK chart run: 19-40-x [2 weeks] Points: +03 | Positive votes: 01 | Negative votes: 00 It seems like J Hus doesn't have much fans here as both his songs finish in the bottom ten. This one was only an album track anyhow. #47. D-Block Europe feat. Aitch - UFO UK chart run: 11-14-14-20-22-25-27-32-55-x [9 weeks] Points: +06 | Positive votes: 02 | Negative votes: 04 D-Block Europe managed their highest peaking single last year although they're still awaiting a top 10 smash. This one was helped out by Aitch but doesn't do so well here also attracting a few negative scores which pushes it down 2 positions, although it still avoids bottom 10. #46. Eminem feat. Ed Sheeran - Those Kinda Nights UK chart run: 12-27-38-41-56 x [5 weeks] Points: +09 | Positive votes: 02 | Negative votes: 00 Eminem had two minor top 20s this year brought on by the album release. The first of these brought along an unwanted Ed Sheeran although it thankfully got overshadowed by "Godzilla" and fell rather quickly. |

That’s quite a funny list - lots of rap with a bit of Dame Vera thrown in.
There are a few good tunes in there. Play Play is quite catchy but then the lyrics are just so off-putting. |

Loose was a bop and I quite liked the two J Hus songs actually, though none are surprising early exits.

#45. Bugzy Malone - M.E.N. III
UK chart run: 18-37-49-70-x [4 weeks] Points: +11 | Positive votes: 02 | Negative votes: 01 Bugzy Malone managed a 2nd top 20 hit in 2020 and like his first one it was a rather minor hit only getting a handful of weeks in the chart. The song is the third track in his "M.E.N." series which was named after Manchester Evening News - and the first track released since his near-fatal motorcycle crash. #44. StaySolidRocky - Party Girl UK chart run: 53-34-28-24-18-17-16-13-17-17-18-25-27-61-74-x [15 weeks] Points: +18 | Positive votes: 02 | Negative votes: 00 Rocky (albeit not the more well known rapper with the nickname Rocky) managed to get this track to go viral on TikTok. Predictably it didn't get a whole lot of love on Buzzjack and he doesn't seem to have any sort of following as an artist so we most likely won't be seeing him back in the chart again. #43. DJ Khaled feat. Drake - Popstar UK chart run: 11-30-37-45-53-62-71-20-22-24-27-36-x [12 weeks] Points: +19 | Positive votes: 03 | Negative votes: 00 DJ Khaled & Drake got together as they often do and gave us two songs for the price of one. However it was only 'Greece' that managed to go top 10 with this track just missing out, however it went back in the top 20 following the music video which went viral for starring Justin Bieber in the role of Drake. Drake has no more songs left so it's not been that great of a year for him in terms of non-top 10 hits. #42. Headie One feat. Young T & Bugsey - Princess Cuts UK chart run: 11-17-22-27-32-37-43-60-72-x-55-x [10 weeks] Points: +22 | Positive votes: 03 | Negative votes: 00 Another British rap song and also the first of two collabs between Headie and Young T & Bugsey. This managed to out-peak 'Don't Rush' but didn't get quite as much longevity and finishes lower in this countdown as well. #41. KSI feat. Trippie Redd - Wake Up Call UK chart run: 11-28-38-61-x-53-64-75-x [7 weeks] Points: +23 | Positive votes: 02 | Negative votes: 00 KSI is back again with his highest track in the countdown meaning both his tracks miss the top 40 here. This one predictably entered fairly high from fanbase power (out-debuting Dua Lipa to the annoyance of Buzzjack), but sank rather quickly. It also gave Trippie Redd his first and so far only hit here although he is a lot bigger of a name in America. |

I am despair that 'UFO' ended up as one of the higher UK rap songs when it is literally the worst one. x

#40. PartyNextDoor feat. Rihanna - Believe It
UK chart run: 12-17-22-28-33-32-34-32-40-40-43-x [11 weeks] Points: +23 | Positive votes: 04 | Negative votes: 00 Rihanna made the comeback that everyone had been begging for in 2020 although not with an album or even a single of her own but instead as a feature for PartyNextDoor which was a disappointment to many fans. I enjoyed the song but I hope she manages to put out some solo material soon. #39. Juice WRLD feat. Halsey - Life's A Mess UK chart run: 66-11-34-53-69-x [5 weeks] Points: +25 | Positive votes: 03 | Negative votes: 00 Juice WRLD's first posthumous album managed to give him a few extra hits, the briefest top 20 hit of them being 'Life's A Mess' which got to #11 from the boost of the album but quickly fell as 'Wishing Well' overtook in popularity. It was also the highest peak for Halsey in the year but she has another bigger hit yet to come. #38. Nathan Dawe feat. Jaykae - Flowers UK chart run: 57-61-49-34-34-23-16-21-24-21-17-13-12-13-14-15-17-14-19-20-22-27-19-17-30-39-40-74-x [28 weeks] Points: +26 | Positive votes: 04 | Negative votes: 02 Nathan Dawe managed to break through last year with this cover of Sweet Female Attitude 'Flowers', not quite getting in the top 10 as the original but eventually being a much bigger hit in terms of chart longevity. It was fairly controversial here though as dance cover versions often are and one of my personal least fave dance hits of recent times as well. #37. Justin Bieber & Benny Blanco - Lonely UK chart run: 19-19-20-17-23-23-42-52-60-x-32-39-... [11+ weeks] Points: +26 | Positive votes: 04 | Negative votes: 05 One of the most hated tracks on the list and also my personal least favourite being this recent single of Justin Bieber with producer Benny Blanco tagged on as well - thankfully not being quite as big as his other singles of the year. #36. JP Saxe feat. Julia Michaels - If The World Was Ending UK chart run: 75-74-74-x-61-68-66-41-38-35-31-24-25-16-14-14-16-20-19-20-44-48-62-68-73-x [24 weeks] Points: +30 | Positive votes: 03 | Negative votes: 04 Another controversial song here from JP Saxe who got one of the big token MOR filler hits of the year with help from real life partner Julia Michaels and it being conveniently timed for what felt like the actual ending of the world. |

I voted Lonely as my -2 although I listened to Men III the other day and all the gruesome details of his accident and thought maybe that should have got my dustbin vote instead.

Glad that Life's A Mess managed to get in the top 40 here despite its very brief chart run. Popstar is a bit too low but otherwise few complaints, other than UFO being far too high.

Well unsurprisingly I've lost 3 of my faves in Wake Up Call, UFO & Party Girl but wasn't expecting them to do anything
Flowers & If The World Was Ending both being out early make up for it. This City to follow very quickly plz. |

#35. Eminem - Darkness
UK chart run: 17-37-59-x [3 weeks] Points: +34 | Positive votes: 06 | Negative votes: 00 The second Eminem track and his highest one too, this one interpolating 'The Sound of Silence' and being written about the Las Vegas shootings... from the perspective of the gunman, in protest of current American gun violence and laws. Being Eminem, this wasn't even his most controversial moment of the year. #34. Pop Smoke feat. Lil Baby & DaBaby - For The Night UK chart run: 14-28-30-41-36-30-23-24-24-16-15-16-17-18-19-16-42-52-61-66-x [20 weeks] Points: +36 | Positive votes: 05 | Negative votes: 00 Pop Smoke managed to get a lot of hits this year, although sadly he didn't live to see any of this huge success having been shot earlier in the year. This track didn't quite manage top ten but had great longevity and ended up just about making the year end list. It was also notable for guesting both the "babies" of modern rap. #33. James Arthur - Train Wreck UK chart run: 69-24-23-19-16-16-25-35-39-x-18-17-... [11+ weeks] Points: +39 | Positive votes: 05 | Negative votes: 00 'Train Wreck' was put out in 2016 as just an album track and we were all blissfully unaware of it until TikTok decided to make it a thing prompting it to get a belated single push and now seemingly having better longevity than even the Sigala collab released just prior to this taking off. #32. Juice WRLD - Wishing Well UK chart run: 15-19-20-23-25-22-28-30-26-60-63-68-x-74-x [13 weeks] Points: +44 | Positive votes: 07 | Negative votes: 00 The highest of the two Juice WRLD tracks is this one which had a little hand from everyone's least favourite producer Dr. Luke. The song was a big hit with his fanbase likely helped by its lyrics tackling his problems with drug addiction and depression. #31. Sam Fischer - This City UK chart run: 73-65-73-68-58-46-39-33-33-31-24-20-19-19-19-17-16-18-16-18-19-17-26-25-26-28-34-35-66-66-68-73-x [32 weeks] Points: +49 | Positive votes: 07 | Negative votes: 00 Following JP Saxe earlier on the streaming playlists decided they needed another acoustic MOR ballad and so this took off helped by a little bit of TikTok traction earlier on. It ended up spending a lot longer in the chart than anyone wanted it too much to the annoyance of regular chart show listeners. |

#30. Ariana Grande feat. Doja Cat - Motive
UK chart run: 16-x [1 weeks] Points: +57 | Positive votes: 11 | Negative votes: 00 Ariana was lucky enough to get two entries on this list with 'Motive' being briefly her 3rd biggest track upon the album's release before 'POV' took over - the latter is also the higher track in this rundown. #29. Sam Smith & Demi Lovato - I'm Ready UK chart run: 20-32-34-33-40-47-57-58-67-x [9 weeks] Points: +61 | Positive votes: 12 | Negative votes: 01 Sam Smith meanwhile was unlucky enough to have as many as 3 entries in the list without having a top 10 in the year. The lowest of their tracks this year is in 'I'm Ready' which was let down by the unfortunate decision to have Demi Lovato guest on the record. #28. Travis Scott & Kid Cudi pts. The Scotts - The Scotts UK chart run: 11-20-23-26-38-43-48-50-57-x [9 weeks] Points: +65 | Positive votes: 09 | Negative votes: 00 Travis Scott & Kid Cudi got together for a new project they unveiled on Fortnite simply called The Scotts named after Travis' stage name and Kid Cudi's real name. Although it hasn't been much of a project so far given they've still only this one song from it. The self titled track managed to go all the way to #1 in America through slightly less than legitimate means meanwhile just falling short of a top 10 here. #27. Young T & Bugsey feat. Headie One - Don't Rush UK chart run: 28-27-29-37-30-37-59-20-31-32-31-35-34-73-x-71-41-35-32-27-32-31-30-19-20-21-25-26-27-36-74-x [30 weeks] Points: +79 | Positive votes: 09 | Negative votes: 00 'Don't Rush' ended up being a big sleeper hit for Young T & Bugsey unexpectedly getting a second revival during the year thanks to TikTok to get a new peak, although it'd have been here regardless from its #20 peak from January. It ended up becoming their most streamed hit in part thanks to some minor American success (a big deal for British rappers) and a DaBaby remix. #26. Dermot Kennedy - Giants UK chart run: 59-72-72-x-75-66-65-63-53-52-22-18-18-16-16-17-12-16-19-16-22-28-x-75-x [22 weeks] Points: +80 | Positive votes: 11 | Negative votes: 00 Dermot didn't manage to directly follow up big hit 'Outnumbered' with another of a similar size but later in the year we got 'Giants' becoming a sleeper hit as well as making it to #1 in his home country of Ireland. He's now back in the top 10 alongside Meduza on 'Paradise' which means I was right to leave it out of the voting thread (yay). |

For the night is the first of my choices to appear and I knew it would probably be the least popular, but good to see it mid table anyway. It's a pretty sophisticated and unusual track for its genre.
I guess the top 30 is pretty much hip-hop free then. |

#25. Sam Smith - To Die For
UK chart run: 20-25-23-19-18-24-30-42-49-x [9 weeks] Points: +83 | Positive votes: 10 | Negative votes: 00 Sam Smith is here again with 'To Die For', originally what was going to be the title track of their album until they had to change it due to the coronavirus which also led to the track getting dropped from radio and streaming playlists. A bit of unfortunate timing there but at least 'Diamonds' would become a bigger hit later in the year (which we'll be seeing in the top 20). #24. Jübel feat. Neimy - Dancing in the Moonlight UK chart run: 53-27-26-22-21-16-12-11-12-18-19-47-41-54-72-x [15 weeks] Points: +85 | Positive votes: 14 | Negative votes: 01 Covering one of the biggest catalogue sellers of the moment in Toploader's 'Dancing in the Moonlight' (not the original, I know) Jübel managed to capitalise on some TikTok traction with their dance version originally released in 2018 and becoming one of the big dance smashes of the summer. Of course this led to it getting more than its fair share of disdain on Buzzjack but clearly a lot of supporters for it too. #23. Idina Menzel & Aurora - Into the Unknown UK chart run: 36-36-38-44-62-19-37-42-54-x-55-62-68-x [12 weeks] Points: +87 | Positive votes: 10 | Negative votes: 00 Frozen 2 finally came out in late 2019 which brought along with it this track clearly meant to serve as the big hit from the soundtrack, although thankfully it never got half as big as 'Let It Go' but still briefly managing a top 20 peak before the new year set in. #22. Blackpink - How You Like That UK chart run: 20-44-57-x [3 weeks] Points: +87 | Positive votes: 15 | Negative votes: 00 2020 also saw Blackpink grow bigger further cementing themselves as the world's biggest girl group, although they're still yet to get a lasting UK hit (Dua Lipa feature aside) they did manage two top 20s on the strength of the fanbase. First off was this track which commenced their latest era culminating in their debut album. #21. Conan Gray - Heather UK chart run: 41-22-23-17-20-23-23-23-26-27-32-x [11 weeks] Points: +88 | Positive votes: 11 | Negative votes: 00 Another TikTok boosted song now, although Conan Gray was gaining some traction already he wasn't to get a proper chart hit until 'Heather' took off on the platform eventually going in the top 20. It's yet to be seen if he can follow it up but the song is still comfortably in the Spotify top 100. |

I guess the top 30 is pretty much hip-hop free then. You'd be right, there's absolutely no hip-hop in the top 25* - with 'Don't Rush' and 'The Scotts' being the sole representees in the top 30. *unless you count Trevor Daniel 'Falling', that one is arguable but I wouldn't consider it hip-hop (Wiki does, however) |
