Either I'm blind or there's not a thread for this yet. Probably the former.
Ben Afflek, Henry Cavil and Gal Gadot returning as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman along with Ezra Miller as The Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
Amy Adams and Jeremy Irons are thankfully back as Lois Lane and Alfred and sadly Jesse Eisenberg is back as Lex Luthor.
New cast additions include Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe af Vulko and JK Simmons as James Gordon.
Amber looks SO good as Mera. *.*
Plot apparantly revolves around the League facing off against Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons.
Has anyone seen the new trailer for this yet?
Looks very good.
Highly anticipated this is.
Why isn't Superman in the trailer, we all know he's in it. Looks good though, here for Wonder Woman as usual.
HERE for Lois and Mera tbh
After Wonder Woman, I'm really hyped up for this.
Yesss at the underwater Aquaman shots, yesss at Wonder Woman being in two films in one year (*-*), yesss at the Amazons appearing in this (there wasn't enough scenes in Themyscira in WW for me!).
My favourite shots were Flash breaking through the glass and Aquaman jumping in front of and stopping the tsunami wave
After Wonder Woman I'm looking forward to this. I think they are teasing us with Superman, I don't think Superman appears till much later in the movie, I have a funny feeling he appears toward the end which leads into part 2 of Justice League, and after that a new planned Superman movie at some point.
Looking forward to Aquaman movie next year Cyborg (April 2020) follows and the Flash in (Date Unknown) 2020
This looks great and I can't wait but I'm still waiting for that Green Lantern reveal ffs
Another exciting new trailer!! My favourite parts were Henry Cavill's chest hair ... shirtless Jason Momoa ... the sneak peek at more Aquaman underwater scenes and just Gal Gadot's screen presence in general *-*
There seems to be so little hype for this, considering what it is. I didn't even realise it was out this month until last week!!
I don't know if it's because people have already seen Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman together in a film (and the focus has only been on them so far), or if Avengers has already soaked up that omg all these heroes in one film excitement or if the whole DC universe thing still feels like a panic cash-in on the MCU.
I've yet to be drawn into the DCEU myself. Man of Steel was too long and moody, I've yet to watch Batman v Superman because it sounds too much of a mess, Ben Affleck should not be Batman and, as I said, it all seems to be panic put together without a proper plan/vision. I did see Suicide Squad and, whilst messy, it was different. Not watched Wonder Woman but I do want to after the great reviews!
Wonder Woman has been the best so far. Suicide Squad was good if you’re not taking things seriously but pretty shit if you are. You’re right about Man of Steel. Actually didn’t mind Ben Affleck as Batman but the film was just dreadful, people were just doing shit without any real motivation.
There is no hype for this but I’ll probably see it anyway.
From what I've read this hasn't had great reviews.
I actually enjoyed it very much except Aquaman where I couldn't quite exactly understand his role/power etc etc. The only good thing about him was when he got shirtless I also enjoyed Ezra Miller's The Flash character, hearing Blackpink in his apartment was a nice surprise
Nothing beat appearance of Amazons though
Oh and the Sigrid song at the beginning was sounding so good!!!
This wasn't great, BUT it was really, really fun. The tone was absolutely all over the place though, and it was so obvious that they'd cut a lot out, the plot felt so light and weightless. Steppenwolf was an atrocious villain though, like MCU villain level bad, his motivation was the he just felt like destroying worlds basically? If they'd gone more into the New Gods and explained where he came from he would have felt more real and threatening but I feel like to people that have never seen him before he just looks like some tall guy trying to destroy the world. I will watch it again though, and it definitely was worth watching just cus it was so fun and to see the team on the screen. I'd give it like a 6/10
The second after credits scene tho
It was great fun! Critics need to calm down.
I actually really enjoyed it. Second only to Wonderwoman out of the DC universe films. I agree that Aquaman felt a bit like a spare part.
I think the critics/people watching DC films need to wake up and realise that The Dark Knight is a once in a lifetime experience and enjoy these films for the silly fun they are.
I thought it was better than reviews suggested, but it was still far too all over the place tonally for me to fully get entertained.
I am now 100% sure Zack is the problem. It just frustrates me coz somewhere in these movies there is a brilliantly fun and enjoyable Superhero Universe that I can get on board with. I don't mind that it's not as funny or as light as the Marvel films, I just think they're all over the place tonally and story wise and I feel it's all being rushed as opposed to being thought out properly.
Ugh. I hate the whole Marvel vs DC thing btw. So I don't mean to come off as one of them blind Marvel stans haha.
Also Henry Cavill's face was odd throughout and my mate said they had to digitalise his moustache out of the reshoots due to him being contracted to having one in Mission Impossible.
Overall, a decent mess. Much better than the two Superman films for sure.
I need to stop bothering with these superhero movies that I generally end up finding uninteresting.
But I will be here for a movie with Barry/Flash as the focus.
I watched this film today and I thought it was average, it didn't feel like there was enough action in the film and most of the film was the characters just talking to one another without much excitement being generated. There wasn't a single moment during the film where I was on the edge of my seat. In my screen I could see from the corner of my eye due to the bright lights that there were a number of people who kept playing about on their phones rather than watching the film with 100% concentration and fixation which says even more about how the film was lacking in gripping the audience.
It was nice to see the beautiful Gal Gadot on screen though!
Argh. People on their phones in a cinema screen is literally my biggest pet peeve!! No matter how uninterested you are in the movie, have some respect for those that actually wanna see it!
It was OK 7/10 being generous because my childhood/teen hero supergroup are finally on the big screen. Zack Snyder needs to move on though, enough is enough of his fairly friction-based superheroes punching a lot. Nice to see Lois Lane, Spiderman's editor as Commish Gordon, Terminator's dead future-chip man not getting killed for a change. The heroes? Superman and Wonder Woman are so right. Batman does not, and never has, meet challenges blasting superguns left right and centre. You dont need a bat costume for that and that goes against the whole ethos of the character, just SO wrong - and he's been around for 80 years!!
Cyborg, although it's an annoying angry-young-black-man cliche these days, is at least consistent with the comic character from the 80's (though he's a New Teen Titan not a JLA character for me), albeit suped-up. Aquaman looks very right in the part, but the dialogue was awful for the comic book moral cool King Of Atlantis. This was a juvenile, albeit fab suped-up powered, walking cliche from every schlock action movie. The Flash was unrecognisable as Barry Allen. Grant Gustin does a great job on TV, should have just moved him over, instead we have a wise-cracking insecure genius Jewish kid cliche. Not even close to the comic version.
So, room for improvement if they dump Snyder. Not as good as Wonder Woman, better than Supes V Bats.
It was much better than Batman vs Superman.
I did quite enjoy it. The critics are wrong on this
Overall I thought this was fun and it managed to grab my attention most of the time.
Definitely being a bit harshly reviewed by critics in my opinion. Marvel are definitely leagues ahead in quality films at this stage but I still massively enjoyed the action and most of the characters too. Wonder Woman is the real star and she completely draws your attention to her in any group scene but I liked Superman a lot in this too and Aquaman was my favourite new character (The lasso of truth gag was probably my favourite one in the entire film. Mera looked really cool too so I'm excited for his solo film even more now).
The plot is thin and some of the dialogue utterly dreadful ("you smell nice" delivered dead seriously by Lois made me cackle) but there are loads of fun moments and action scenes to make it a decent watch.
This was a pretty great film. Not as excellent as Spiderman Homecoming and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, but a bit close. My favourite parts were the storytelling involving the Mother Boxes and how the Atlantians, Amazonians and humans hid them from Steppenwolf and the final battle near the end. One small complaint I have was the overuse of slow motion scenes, some of them were pretty awesome though.
Brilliant [93]
Just watched this today and I thought it was OK. Reviews seem a bit harsh once again.
My main flaws with it are it could probably have benefited from being a tad longer to help develop the newer characters and some of the re-shoots are obvious and a bit jarring at times (and Cavill's moustache CGI wasn't as bad as I'd heard but was a bit weird). Additionally some of the humour is terrible but mainly the witty one liners (which are particularly detrimental to Aquaman). I'd prefer Bruce Wayne's ageing body to have been dealt with in a more thoughtful way and Steppenwolf needs more development - Darkseid gets one flippant mention that most will miss. With all the brief references to Flashpoint, Green Lantern, and tons of clunky exposition regarding Atlantis it just feels like there's too much crammed in for anything to breathe properly.
If Snyder does have a 3 hour cut I'd be intrigued to see it.
Full marks for Deathstroke at the end though. Stay to the end credits have finished in case you weren't aware

Zack Snyder's original planned version
Makes a lot more sense and fills in many of the vague areas nicely
Rumour has it there is a planned solo Batman movie for 2020, Ben Afleck has reported no longer reprising his Batman role in the next Justice League movie, names going forward Jake Gyllenhaal to replace Ben.
Superman: Man of Steel 2 not going to happen for some time yet, DC are just concentrating on the Flashpoint, Cyborg and Aquamen movies, with a possibility Deathstroke movie.

Good riddance if Ben leaves Batman...can they just bring Christopher Bale please
Jake gyllenhaal as batman tho? Idk how I’d feel about that
Just saw the Zack Snyder cut of this (I signed up for a 7-day free trial to NOW TV for it)... this was... OK. My full review of it is on my https://letterboxd.com/tafty/film/zack-snyders-justice-league/ and it's a pretty lengthy one so I won't C+P it here, but basically if I had to describe my reaction in gif form...
It's been turned from a 2 out of 5 into a 2.5 out of 5 basically. Had somethings going for it but not enough, imo. Dry and bland throughout and I don't think the main characters have the strongest chemistry.
I loved Cyborg's added arc though. Especially as it really helped flesh out his character & this final battle scene was better. What was with the constant slow motion use though? Really took away from the moments that actually would have benefitted from it more had it not been constantly used.
So my brother put this on and I couldn't stick it out because I'm not that into DC. It was fun to see though that my sister was in the movie lol. Had forgotten about that after they cut her out of the original version haha.
Omg!
Who did she play? Was she in Wonder Woman's scene?
Omg. I completely forgot about the Aquaman in Iceland scenes lmaooo (I just have little to no interest in him for some reason lmao) That's so cool though
