So, after a week of voting and some shock results, we are once again LIVE from Darpabrak for the grand final of BJSC LXXII. 31 lucky nations have made the final, 30 of which made it through the semi final process and the host entry, Sam Feldt: Show Me Love playing for your aural delectation below.
As per usual you SIMPLY MUST vote in the final, if you do not do so you will be banished from competing next month, which I'm sure you agree is utterly unthinkable. When you are voting, please use the tried and tested scoring system;

When I get it uploaded at some point Monday an MP3 pack will appear http://www56.zippyshare.com/v/8EtrFQZW/file.html and http://www56.zippyshare.com/v/kFDYPYyR/file.html featuring all the songs from the final in various audio qualities for you to listen to, enjoy and perhaps not enjoy as you see fit. Just so long as you all agree the host entry is amazing.
You have until SUNDAY FEBRUARY 22nd at 23:59 to vote. The results should be the following day depending on how tired I am post Oscar viewing.

Your name came up as a top recent listener to the song OVERALL out of everyone that uses last.fm not just in my friend list...New conclusion to my findings: Aeondia is either Pavel or someone that does not use last.fm ~

I have theories anyway.
In other news, I may try and vote tonight but writing my votes is going to be so hard because every head draft I've written so far that actually has personality in it doesn't come off well (and sometimes even without personality, see my memorable votes for contest 50). On top of everything else, that's a bad thing about DNQing especially when there are not 1, not 2, but THREE entries in this final that I either could have sent or basically were my entry

I don't get why you'd REQUEST to remain incognito though, it just smacks of pretentiousness or attention seeking so that your big reveal gets loads 'OMG HE'S BACK' etc. You're entering a blooming song contest, what's there to hide?!

It has to be an existing nation because otherwise it's an unregistered nation and that is grounds for disqualification and probably a permaban for pissing me off by trying to be clever and go around our processes.
John, you can either unmask them here or in the staff forum but they will be unmasked today. This isnt UP. Our players are registered and tracked including all name changes for the stats and for potential rule violations such as alias accounts.

I have voted, I don't normally feel ready so early but this is an exception. The final was better than I thought it was, not least because my top 5 is one of my favourites for a while - as often happens when the top end is so good there were a number of tracks that are not my thing in the slightest though.

Voted! Very much a final of three equal parts for me, one part AMAZING (the ten songs that have made my votes are much higher quality than recent months), one part good but not amazing (big quality dip outside my top ten) and the other part resounding bores which somehow made it into the final above some really amazing songs that DNQ'd (and I'm not talking about my own entry. More than half of my favourite songs overall this month failed to reach the final )
And only two dance songs in my votes...madness considering how many were entered! All the good ones got shoved out, well aside from two.

'This Could Be Paradise' is REALLY good for what it is (i.e. a generic Scandi track), I think it'll do fairly well. Would have been a guaranteed winner a few years back surely.

I had two clear favourites in the final, both of which I knew before the contest started. This is the first final in quite some time that I can't say I've made any decent discoveries... although I did like the Rontvian track that suffered a DNQ.
edit... and yes I am aware that my track hardly adds to the quality of the final(!)

There are more DNQs than finalists this month to be fair...
Some of the songs that got through this month over certain other songs are quite mind-boggling but I continue to be easily pleased apparently as I still liked the majority of this final.

Yeah, I had to rely on tracks I already knew far too much, I'm afraid, most of this final is just bland pop or, worse, bad RnB, and I'm not here for that. I have made a few decent discoveries this month but half of them were lost at the semi stage.
And I agree with Leww, this feels like it's been going for AGES with nothing interesting happening, that may be a side effect of DNQing but I swear it's never normally this uninteresting.

It's a real shame as it would have been a lock for a top 4 finish in Fljótavík.
Couple that with Florina, N DNTN and Zechonia missing out from SF2 and a lot of my favourites simply aren't available to vote for. On the plus side, GRRL PAL somehow made it through so I shall not grumble too much!

I'm clearly in the minority as I actually found this a really strong final with some very refreshing entries (guess it helps that I'm obviously one of these 'WTF' qualifiers )

Some of the songs that got through this month over certain other songs are quite mind-boggling but I continue to be easily pleased apparently as I still liked the majority of this final.
True, but my tastes aren't generally so out of line with what's popular! I quite often tend to love most of the songs that do well - maybe that will still be the case this month if my top ten all/mostly do well.

. Couldn't separate my top three - unfortunately nothing was absolutely outstanding in the context of the competition like 'Christine' was to me last month but I would have been happy giving top points to any of them. Very strong quality final for the most part.

Yes. I warn you though that the results may bear only around 85% of a resemblance to what has actually been voted for. The spreadsheet SHOULD be right though, so any mistakes along the way WILL be sorted at the end so please keep that in mind as the evening becomes an ever increasing farce.
Expect things to kick off between 7 and 8.

edit: I never know why anyone commits to a tight deadline on these things, 2 days is usually good and gives the host enough time to the oh so time consuming preparations...

The final is happening tonight with a twist. The Federal Republic of Ashton, Daehun, Bignia-Zaragovina and Séyetana's ambassadors have arrived into Altyr Muunilinst to co-present the results in place of Altyr's original final host due to a complicated circumstance.
(basically Yu, Phil, Iz and Jack are hosting tonight)

Seems to me that if a host is willing to accept slightly late votes (Jake told me he was only a couple of hours after the deadline) then the penalty should be a bit lighter? Like just having the deduction without a ban. Having both a deduction and a ban while still accepting votes is a bit of a slap in the face really, it only causes the late voter's song to drop even further down the scoreboard. Either be strict about deadlines and don't accept late votes at all or reduce the penalty if you do accept late votes.
Plus Botanikka weren't banned last month for their late votes in LXX so some consistency here would be good, even leaving aside the Ashton thing.

For what its worth, I agree with the reduced punishment in this case. I accepted the votes because both were in before I had finished counting up the results, so it was no bother for me to add them in. It is, of course, up to the mods, but perhaps it is something we need to clarify further for future contests.

I would suggest late votes should have a 15% deduction and allowed to participate next contest. There shouldn't be no punishment but a ban is a tad harsh if they've at least made the effort to vote before the results

no offence to the mods but this is ridiculous now. i feel like this PARTICULAR circumstance has been answered about 20 times now in the last year, and there is actually contests within the SONGS OF thread that have shown like 5 different ways to do it. it should be a 16.6% deduction with no ban in the case of the final and the same in semi-finals, zero tolerance [MODS INCLUDED] unless there is sufficient proof / advanced planning that it was due to human error / system errors. this should be accepted at the HOSTS discretion as it is in place to prevent THEM being f***ed around, not the mods, the 16.6% has been applied through mods fairness. there should also be rules in place for permissions regarding AQs [aka asking the 2nd place if they want to take up that place provided they are liable to vote for BOTH semi finals] and then a 8.3% deduction for only voting in one, 16.6% deduction in the final for not voting in both and then just a straight up 33% one for not voting in the final / a combination of the previous two and late voting.
