QUOTE
Maniac follows "Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim, two strangers drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial, each for their own reasons. Annie’s disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and her sister; Owen, the fifth son of wealthy New York industrialists, has struggled his whole life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia. Neither of their lives have turned out quite right, and the promise of a new, radical kind of pharmaceutical treatment—a sequence of pills its inventor, Dr. James K. Mantleray, claims can repair anything about the mind, be it mental illness or heartbreak—draws them and ten other strangers to the facilities of Neberdine Pharmaceutical and Biotech for a three-day drug trial that will, they’re assured, with no complications or side-effects whatsoever, solve all of their problems, permanently."

Stars Emma Stone, Jonah Hill, Sally Field, Justin Theroux amongst others! It is a dark comedy based on a Norwegian series and will consist of 10 episodes of ~30 minutes, released on 21 September.

I'm very excited for this, seems to have a lot of hype! I think it's Emma Stone's first TV series too, an interesting move for her when she's the highest paid actress in Hollywood.

Hopefully it won't disappoint!

I really like this so far. Just finished episode two and it’s taking all of me to not continue binge watching and go do something productive instead.

Episode 4 was insane and I have a new appreciation for Stone's acting skills.

This was quite an interesting watch! Really like how it experiments with each episode and with it's storytelling, allowing it to mix up and test out different genres, with a really strong story at the heart of it. The scenes in Episode 2 particularly stood out for me </3

It REALLY showed off Emma and Jonah's acting skills, as if we didn't need confirmation of the former at least. It sadly seems to have gone under the radar a bit but it is a lot stronger and more interesting than I expected. Will hopefully give it a rewatch in the future.
