09 - Oasis "Wonderwall" (1995) (+53)

This is another example of chart injustice, "Wonderwall" was unfortunate to be released the same week as "I Believe/Up On The Roof" by Robson and Jerome, but it still did well, spending 11 weeks in the T10 and becoming a million-seller.

Pleasing those two are at the bottome of the top 10. 'Wonderwall' is massively overrated, and 'Sunchyme' is just crap.

08 - Madonna "Justify My Love" (1990) (+57)

The first appearance in T10 results for Madonna. She has (again) got two songs in, the other "Ray Of Light" yet to come. JML spent a week at 2 behind Vanilla Ice. This was the 25th of 64 T10 hits for Madge (including re-issues). This is double the amount of T10 hits that Kylie has had [32 as I mentioned earlier]

07 - Robert Miles "Children" (1996) (+61)

This was the first of four T40 hits for Robert, three went T10. "Children" is by far his biggest hit and spent 3 non consecutive weeks at number 2 behind Oasis and Take That, it spent 10 weeks in the T10 and 7 of those weeks in the top 3. It was the biggest song not to go to number one of that year.

Was hoping for top 5 for this - if Underworld are 6th I will be pissed off supremely.

06 - The Verve "Bittersweet Symphony" (1997) (+71)

That's both of the artists in the top 2 of last game gone, The Verve miss out on the top 5 with this. The Verve were unlucky to release on the same week as Puff Daddy, and missed out on number one.

Underworld are definitely top 5, and I wanted Robert Miles to win (I wasn't expecting it to win so I'm not that sad) - it's one of my favourite songs ever, but this is BJ so Kylie and Madonna are no surprises to the top 5, BJ also love britpop (Pulp) and 90s pop/dance (KLF) so anyone could win this.

Am going to post a list from 50 - 6 shortly

I only really like Ray of Light from the Top 5 - Justified and Ancient was the weakest of all the KLF singles. Born Slippy has a great intro but that's about it. Common People is good but there were a lot better songs on Different Class and I never liked that Kylie song.

I'm 35 and my pop era was from 1987 to 1993 but I never grew out of it.

I'm only 27, but the above period is my preferred choice (maybe it should be 97-03); knowing what I know about pop music and its legacy (pop in the broadest sense, that is). The early stages of dance and house music (and for guilt, the SAW sound!) are what make this era my preferred choice; so this is slightly contradicting my opinion! laugh.gif
