That must be a massive confidence boost for Laura! It's a shame to see a long-standing record go but it was beaten by 5 seconds, she deserves it.

Morgan Lake jumped a PB this year of 1.97m. It's too early to write her off yet in the high jump with more first time clearances and that'll be competitive. Morgan is not that far off and 21. There is still time to be competitive for her.

Paula Radcliffe says elite sport could be open to "manipulation" unless tighter rules are applied to transgender women.

International Olympic Committee guidelines state that transgender women must suppress testosterone levels for at least 12 months before competition.

But Radcliffe questioned whether that should also extend to surgery and has called for further research.

The 28-year-old was acting as pacemaker in the men's 3,000m when he fell into the infield and had to be given medical attention by the side of the track.

Four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah and Haile Gebrselassie are involved in a dispute over an alleged theft at a hotel belonging to the Ethiopian athletics great in Addis Ababa.

The Briton said he had money, a watch and two phones taken from his room, and that Gebrselassie did not help him.

"I was just disappointed with Haile," said 36-year-old Farah.

Gebrselassie, 46, responded by accusing Farah of "blackmail" and "defaming" his reputation and business.
