when was this sent??? this katie price shakira hybrid woulda got my 18 TBH BJSCX, back in 2008! It was favourite to win and then DNQ'd, and this split opinion down the middle. Half said it's crap and deserved to fail, others couldn't believe what had happened, but about 25 people passed comment on its fate, it was hilarious I also regret sending Blank's I'm Going For Your Brother too soon, it came 10th in 2009, which is obviously fantastic, but I feel it would have been a winning contender at any point from 2013 onwards once more people had joined that appreciated that sort of sound, definitely well ahead of its time. |

Part of what helps get over them is knowing that good songs DNQ all the time and sometimes it's just chance or people weren't ready to get it or something else that went against it. Even if an absolute tune doesn't make it, it's already got so many good companions. (basically guys, never ignore your DNQs from your opposite semi, there are so many gems lying dormant) This is why I listen to everything in both every month, I'm so scared that I'll miss something incredible that gets cruelly dumped out (this month alone I'd have missed four fantastic DNQs from semi 2). It also makes me sad that 30+ people might potentially will never hear my DNQs (obviously I appreciate nowhere near that amount don't ignore the other semi's DNQs/others hear them at the Rejects stage). Also in terms of my qualifiers "Catch A Star For You"/"Flash Drive"/"In The Dark" all should have done way better

Can we talk about just how good my first 5 DNQ's were?
and especially. Some of the monstrosities that got through instead of Starling Glow last year too. |

Fall Into Me...and Woman's Work...and You're Always Good. I don't understand how my intense dark female-led indie songs that I send in January always seem to fail, I know I go on and yes maybe they're better suited to UP, but it saddens me as they all don't deserve this I mean at least one of them got justice in the rejects but still...
Of all my other DNQs, Home We Made Part II & Flyway still hurt (though the following the former got after softens the blow), the rest I've either gone off or knew it would happen anyway lol This post has been edited by Chez Wombat: 23rd January 2017, 09:58 PM |

never forget. proper banger (leww would agree) that was widely predicted to qualify but didn't.
still don't get what people didn't see in this one either, one of my fave entries ever but it DNQed. I get the feeling I sent this one ahead of its time too, it wouldn't have DNQed once tropical house was all the rage |

What was the first tropical house hit in BJSC? I came 3rd with Ulf Nilsson's Little By Little exactly two years, were there many before that?
I guess I Got U by Duke Dumont was the first big mainstream tropical house hit in early 2014 but it seemed ages before another came out/before it became a commercial trend. |

Well my entry this contest was easily one of my faves I've sent so that was a shame.
But everything else has pretty much overperformed by my expectations so I guess the other side of the coin was bound to show eventually! Dive from the previous contest deserved better than 38th I reckon too. |

Ooh yes, I feel like I've forgotten about loads of tropical house (commercial) hits from 2014, I know they flooded through the gates from 2015 onwards but there were probably more than I recall.
