August 11-13, 2017

1 ANNABELLE CREATION - $35,006,404
2 DUNKIRK - $10,884,117
3 THE NUT JOB 2 - $8,342,311
4 THE DARK TOWER - $7,820,154
5 GIRLS TRIP - $6,466,475

The Conjuring movie universe has got something really good going on, look at these US openings! - consistency like that is so good! Looks really promising for the upcoming Nun spin-off.

Conjuring -$41,855,326
Annabelle - $37,134,255
Conjuring 2 - $40,406,314
Annabelle 2 - $35,006,404

Not great for The Nut Job though, the last one was a bit 'who cares?' anyway and that opened at $19,423,000 so this looks like it's going to struggle a bit.

> Daniel Craig will be returning for the 25th Bond instalment but it is likely to be his last (for real this time, I think! tongue.gif).
> Emma Stone has surpassed Jennifer Lawrence as the highest-earning actress in Hollywood!
> Hayao Miyazaki has officially returned to Studio Ghibli.
> Tom Cruise has been injured on the set of Mission Impossible 6 which could see the project be delayed a couple of months.

As someone who has only seen one Bond film (Spectre), I'm actually a bit sad at Craig returning. I think he looked pretty bored and uninterested in that film which made it one of the less enjoyable spy movies of that year alone for me which is a shame as Bond should be the biggest and the best. It feels like the right time to shake it up and try something new and refreshing (like Doctor Who is doing now) and now it'll be even longer until we hear news of the role being recast sad.gif

Don't think anyone has posted this yet but all the industry websites say that an Obi-Wan solo Star Wars spin-off is confirmed as the next one following on from Han Solo. I am sooo excited for this, one of my absolute favourite Star Wars characters. They HAVE to make sure Ewan McGregor is back though but he seems up for it so yaaaaaay cheer.gif

Tiffany Haddish has signed on to star in a Kevin Hart comedy by the same creative team behind Girls Trip.

So excited for it already! She was by far the funniest character I've seen in a long, long time in that film so I'm hoping this will be the start of her big breakthrough wub.gif

The highest earning stars of the last year have been revealed!

1. Mark Wahlberg ($68m)
2. Dwayne Johnson ($65m)
3. Vin Diesel ($54.5m)
4. Adam Sandler ($50.5m)
5. Jackie Chan ($49m)
6. Robert Downey Jr ($48m)
7. Tom Cruise ($43m)
8. Shah Rukh Khan ($38m)
9. Salman Khan ($37m)
10. Akshay Kumar ($35.5m)
11. Ryan Gosling ($29m)
12. Emma Stone ($26m)
13. Jennifer Aniston ($25.5m)
14. Jennifer Lawrence ($24m)
15. Ryan Reynolds ($21.5m)
16. Matt Damon ($21m)
17. Jeremy Renner ($19m)
18. Melissa McCarthy ($18m)
18. Chris Evans ($18m)
20. Chris Pratt ($17m)

A bit shocked to see Wahlberg top but apparently he makes loads from Transformers, plus he had Patriot's Day & Deepwater Horizon as well as signing on for Daddy's Home 2 so I guess it makes sense. A bit disheartening to only see four females in the the entire top 20 too and none even in the top 10 ohmy.gif
