The ruthlessness by some of y'all

Alexandra's EP #NewRules loses half of it's tracks as Daydream, Fix You and Leave A Message leave us at 46, 47 and 49. Josh shows his true bitchy colours as he rates every track a 00.0 and Bal showcases us a curious case of mindless stanning as he gives Leave A Message an 8.

Daydream and Fix you arn't as bad as people are making it out to be. Surely the whole EP was an embarrasment, but Day Dream is lyrically quite good (Slay that cheating bast*rd gurl) and Fix You is an amazing cover. None are good enough to be in Alex's top 40 tho and she should step up her game for album #3.

In #48 is the biggest embarassment yet imo. Not that it's absolutely horrific. Alexandra's vocal are good on Where Do Hearts Go?, but it's the cheesy lyrics, the demoish production and the fact that this stalled at #231 on iTunes on release and probably made about 10p for charity, what makes it so bad. The embarrassment was real when Alexandra released this, received a major backlash from her "true fans" and caused a lot of drama within the stanbase, which I shall not adress.

No losses there at all. Where Do Hearts Go? is the kind of thing you wouldn't even expect to come out of a Poundland record label. So cheap sounding and just a non-song. Leave a Message is iconic though *_*

So our next bunch sees yet another charity single leave. Everybody Hurts was released after the Haïti eathquak that destroyed the whole entire country and being the saint she is, Alexandra signed up to help and even went there herself as part of Helping Haïti. The song reached #1 and sold 453.000 copies in its first week. The highest for a UK charity single in the 21st century. It charted in various countries all over the world, including Australia (yass Alex, get that Aussie top 30), Germany, Italy and Sweden.

Also leaving us are Seduce You and Try, both track from #NewRules. Secude You was deemed the best of a bad bunch, but has since been removed from Soundcloud, leaving fans to speculate if she was intending to use it for her album, but that dream was crushed when we found out the beat was used in another song I can't remember.
Try is just plain bad, can't help it. Josh once again showcases his vile intentions with all them 00's.

Christmas Time ends the journey at #42. Released as part of an EP called "Christmas Gift" on Christmas Day, it was a pleasant surprise. Alexandra teased the gift for quite a while and the song didn't embarrass us. However it's cheesy lyrics rubbed many the wrong way.

Just missing out on the top 40 is our first Heartbreak On Hold track, What Money Can't Buy. It is the only ballad on the track, which makes it seem like it was stuck on the behind just because Alex wanted it to. Alexandra wrote it when she was younger, but the song itself is just bad. Even I hate it and have deleted it from my iTunes.

Posted by: HausofKubrick 28th September 2014, 11:50 AM

OMG.com screaming at that first section

I'll have you know my "stanning" for 'Leave A Message" is purely ironic, promise!!

She really lost it with that EP. Like to the point where it's so bad, it's actually quite endearing (and I love her for it).

Posted by: HausofKubrick 28th September 2014, 11:54 AM

'What Money Can't Buy' is BAD. Especially coming after the incredible 'Sitting On Top Of The World' on the album.

Is 'Bounty Hunter' the highest from '#newrules' then?? Slaying as it should be.

WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE?! DAYLIGHT ROBBERY IS ONE OF THE BEST TRACK ON HEARTBREAK ON HOLD AND YOU ALLOWED IT TO FINISH #36?! GURL BYE DONE WITH Y"ALL!

One a more serious note, Alexandra's most annoying song ever Love You That Much ends the day just inside the top 40. One of the biggest duds of a not so perfect (but still incredibly good) pop album. Everything about it just annoys me.

Bounty Hunter wins the award for the highest track from #NewRules. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, but let's keep it positive people! Bounty Hunter is often refered to as one of the best tracks and the one that has potential for an actual album track! Besides the cringeworthy parent talk at the start, it's actually really good!

Bonus track from Heartbreak On Hold, Devil In Me is up next at #38. The track right was a bonus track, but I'd have preferred it to be left off and replaced by Shots For The DJ (feat. Pitbull) or More, both are considerably better. More however only did a little better ending at #37. THe dancepop song shits on your faves discography, so shame on y'all.

Both Draper and Davidson are serving us a class in "How to piss of Tim 101". With a 0 to Daylight Robbery, a -1 to More and a 9 to Devil In Me, these 2 know how to rub me the wrong way. Get it together guys!

Leaving us at #35 and #34 are 2 leaked tracks, Fear Of Flying and Light Of A Dreamer.
Both tracks leaked as part of a massive leak on SyCo's side, in which various Leona and Alexandra tracks leaked, when Alexandra was preparing for the release of Overcome and Bad Boys. Both are excellent tracks and could've replaced a fair few tracks on her albums (What Happens On The Dancefloor anyone?!). Trust ScenesofSixCrimes to mark them low tho...

Silent Night at #33 was first performed by Alexandra on The X Factor: The Final, as part of her 4 song bid to win the contest. SInce then fans ahd been asking for a studio recording of it and Alexandra finally decided to grant our wish. Alexandra's lush vocals were amazing on this track, altho I'm still no fan of the song itself, but each to their own I guess.

I can't believe I'm about to introduce this song to the stage, but at #32 we find This Love Will Survive. HOW?! It's just so good and definately one of my favourites from Alexandra's 2nd album! Y'all need Jesus.
The next song however, I shall not weep for. Bury Me (6 Feet Under) ends at #31 and deservedly so. Bury Me is good, but a complete dud on a perfect pop album. It's just so much worse than the rest of Overcome.

Opening the top 30 is Overcome track and heartfelt ballad They Don't Know, about how nobody knows what a broken hearted person goes through at that particular moment.
Lovely track, but definately album material. Following is a cover of Mariah Carey's Hero, which was released as a charity single when Alexandra competed on The X Factor in 2008.
The song went to #1 in both Ireland and the UK, selling 313k in it's first week, totalling to 1.2 million.

This time 'round we lose 2 magnificent Heartbreak On Hold tracks. Sittting On Top Of The World and my favourite from the album Beating Still. Both are excellent gems on a very underrated album, but I'll never get how Beating Still was not released as a single, let alone how it was demoted to a bonus track on the digital deluxe edition. Alex's team was the pits back then....

Leaving us at #27 is Alexandra's Gotta Go, also an amazing track, altho slightly overshadowed by the rest of the album. Ugh, how much I long for the days when Alex used to create cracking tunes, with great lyrics, production and funding sad.gif

Posted by: HausofAquarius 30th September 2014, 10:04 AM

Continuing the revealing at #25, we find the first Overcome track, Dangerous. Dangerous was first released as the B-Side to Bad Boys and was later added as one of the bonus tracks in Japan. The guitar heavy song was something different from Alex, who went on to release an album full of electronic pop bangers. Alexandra's strong vocals shone on the track, as well as on another bonus track, which ended at #24, It's Over.
I immediately fell in love with the song as soon as I discovered it's existence. Having purchased the album in physical form, I had no idea another iTunes bonus track existed.
Written and demoed by Ne-Yo, the song shows off Alexandra's voice very well.

Next up are 2 Heartbreak On Hold tracks, Oh La La and Fire, in 23rd and 22nd place. Oh La La was performed once by Alexandra in an MTV session and I'm glad that was the only one. The song is so generic it pains me, altho I do like it. I, however, absolutly love the afrobeat version of this.

Liam will be pleased to see Fire at #22, altho he'll probably complain about it being 20 places too high. I however really like the song, which was written by Autumn Rowe. "Call 999, it's a problem".

Just misisng out on the top 20 is my favouriteleak by Alexandra and I have no ideawhy it did not make Overcome. Iteasily could've replaced Bury Me or They Don't Know as an album track and if I'm honest, I'd consider it single worthy.
Despite being a demo, it shits on other popgirls' album tracks. I'm blaming Simon for not releasing this and I thank those 2 German kids who leaked the tracks with all my heart

4.0: Mr. Aly

Opening the top 20 is Alexandra's collaboration with Ne-Yo, Good Night Good Morning. It was first recorded by Brandy, as were other songs recorded by Alexandra.
Alexandra's seductive vocals, Ne-Yo's writing talents and StarGate's productions are what makes this song a standout track on a near flawless album on first listen.
Tipped by fans as a must-be-a-single track, Alexandra left this as an album gem, in favour of several other bangers.
The "this beat iscrazy, this cub amazing" chants are just so catchy and give this song an extra oompfh. I still believe this would've made a crazy single and even could've grabbed the attention as a summer single ahead of Bad Boys.

Next up is a ballad from the re-release of Overcome, The Overcome Deluxe Edition (still a horrible name), Before The Rain.
It's not one of Alexandra's best ballads (The Silence, Overcome >>>>>), but it's very pleasant eegardless. Especially the final chorus, in which Alexandra shows off her massive belts.
Before The Rain has never been one of my faves, but it's good regardless

Landing at #18 is yet another Overcome track. Nothing But The Girl was also written by Ne-Yo and produced by Stargate, just like Good Night Good Morning.
This is the worse one of the 2 tho. Nothing But The Girl is a nice up tempo bop, but seems a bit odd to be sung by Alexandra. I've always cringed at the song's lyrics, due to her being a woman, but singing to be a man in the song?!
It has always confused me and till this day still irks me. I really do like it tho, but it's one of the duds on Overcome.

Just like Nothing But The Girl I do like this, but they look worse because of the quality of the album itself.
Alexandra's strong vocals however make this such an anthem to scream along with. It previously wasn't called You Broke My Heart, but Simon insisted on changing its name, so the writer did.
The producer, Steve Booker, is responsible for creating hits such as Love Me Again by John Newman and Duffy's Mercy.

Okay let me tell y'all this. I am utterly appalled at Between The Sheets only ending up at #16?!
Below What Happens On The Dancefloor out of all songs?! Y'all need Jesus Alexandra Christ, cause this ain't healthy!

Between The Sheets was easily the #1 track on Heartbreak On Hold and one of the songs that could've been used on Overcome.
It's just so good it makes me cry seeing this so criminally underrated.
Keep your eyes open at all times Aly, Aprila and I are coming for you!

Opening the top 15 is What Happens On The Dancefloor. A decent dancepop song with Cobra Starships.
I can't help but feel like this track was meant for their album, but they decided to cut it (rightfully) so Alexandra added it to her Deluxe Edition of Overcome,
where it blocked a good song from appearing on the album (Turbulence anyone?!).

Of course this is all theory, but I like thinking I'm right.

'What Happens On The Dancefloor' is a slight guilty pleasure, but I recognise its obvious shitness and it is pretty much them featuring her.

What Happens On The Dancefloor isn't great. Between the Sheets being so low is an absolute CRIME though.

-1.0: Regina, jsilv

We're now at that point where I don't condone anything less than a 5. Sadly, Regina, Josh, Aly decided to go against this with their hate against Hallelujah.
They're obviously jealous their faves could never pull this off, so I'm just calling this a modern day hate crime.
But to every downside, there's an upside (is that even right?) as Hallelujah gains massive support from the others. 12 10's make this the 13th song in this countdown.
Hallelujah was covered Alexandra on the live final of The X Factor UK in 2008 as her final performance. The song was released as her winner single and immediately broke the record for the fastest download in Europe, selling 105k copies in one day. It went on to sell 576.000 copies in its first week, totalling at 1.25 million as of 2013.
It debuted at #1 in the UK, ahead of Buckley's version at #2. Pressed Buckley fans thought it was a wise idea to start a campaign to prevent Slayandra from getting that #1. Their attempt obviously failed and all those coins were wasted. Poor them.

Ending at #14 is quite a surprising song for me. The Bruno Mars-penned Perfect stays slaying with an average of 7.65.
With nothing lower than a 5, this song has rushed past big competition, like Between The Sheets (weep), Good Night Good Monring (weep) and Turbulence (double weep).

However let's not discredit this song. It's quite amazing, altho nowhere near deserving that 14th place to me. I'd place it jsut outside her top 20.
Perfect was one of the tracks that got leaked by a few German interns at SyCo and ended up making the re-release of Overcome in a slightly reworked version, to the suprise of many fans, who expected Before It Explodes to be at least there.

To be fair to 'Hallelujah' it's not as bad as most of those X-Factor winners singles, I just really do not like any of them. They're like the lowest denominator of music.

Okay, so next up is the fabulous title track of Alexandra's 2nd album, Heartbreak On Hold, at #12.
It was widely tipped as THE next single, had the album not bombed as hard as it did. Alexandra herself even confirmed that the 3rd single was between HOH and Tonight. I'm glad she didn't go ahead with it as there's only so much fans can do.
Heartbreak On Hold is a great song, with great vocals from Ms. Burke, as well as one of the least cheap sounding of the whole album.
Despite this, it would've flopped horrifically if indeed released. However Alexandra did perform it once on G-A-Y, where it was received pretty good.
Joe and SceneofSixCrimes agree with this, resulting in a low score from both of them (I'm coming for you ass Scene), but others seemed to love it as much as I did (altho ranking it lower) as HOH received 6 10's.

Just missing out on the top 10 by 0.11, is Alexandra's Greek smash, Tonight. The song was never officially released as a single, but was a contender with Heartbreak On Hold, but I'm not entirely sure. Us Beasties did however discover that DJ Smash produced the song (or better said, Alexandra sampled his beat) and he made her sign a contract that obligated her to release the song. However she got out of that contract by giving Inna the rights to the song for her album.

Tonight was a multi-week #1 in Greece (Yes it really was). It spend multiple weeks at the top of their iTunes, as well as topping the Radio 1 Greece chart.
Flop album wot? Tonight spend over 4 months in Greece's top 10, as well as charting in Cyprus. Videos for Tonight gathered many views for a hit in Greece, with the top video gaining over 800.000 (How pathetic that this is a good thing for her these days oops)

More serious tho, with no 11's received this is only one of the 4 songs that received no 11's in the top 10.
The title track of Alexandra's debut multi platinum album ends at #10, a tremendous position and one I am very happy with. Overcome is one of Alexandra's best ballads along with The Silence and I didn't expect this to be top 10. Overcome leaked ahead of the debut of Bad Boys and people were loving it back then already, so maybe it wasn't too unexpected.

Next up at #9 is one of the tracks on Overcome that immediately jumped out for me. The electronic up-tempo banger is loved by many, as shown in the votes received.
4 10's, 6 marks in the 9 region and the lowest ranking coming from nobody less than SceneofSixCrimes (did we really expect someone else here, he seems to hate all Alexandra's pop bops.)

Next up is Alexandra's third UK #1 single, Start Without You, which features flop rapper Laza Morgan.
The song reached #1 for 2 weeks, pushing down Olly Murs' Please Don't Let Me Go and blocking Katy's Teenage Dream from reaching the top spot.
It also became her fifth conscecutive top 5 hit in Ireland, as well as charting in the top 100 in The Netherlands (stan a bit), Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Balkan Queen tbh.

Start Without You first had a different video, from which footage has appeared on the world wide web, but Alex scrapped that one and decided to record a new, much worse one. The video basically shows her and a few muscular dudes working out in the gym and doing some weird ass dances. Great concept bish.

However the song itself remains rather flawless and sounds amazing in the sun and never fails to cheer me up. The infectious beat, Alexandra's vocals and even Laza's rap all sound amazing. Aly of course disagrees, cause he hates Alexandra's best songs as usual. His music taste is going downhill. Poor ha

Landing at #7, a lot higher that its acutal charting position, is the feel good anthem Let It Go.
Released as the second single of Heartbreak On Hold and follow-up to Elephant, this was completely shunned by radio, with no good reason.
Even her fans couldn't pull her through anymore. It charted at #33 in the UK and #41 in Ireland. The following week saw the horrendous charting of Heartbreak On Hold, which was the final nail in the Heartbreak On Hold coffin.

Let It Go's radio shun got Alex quite a lot of press, as she gave an interview with DigitalSpy, expressing her feelings about it.
It did not deserve this faith and neither was the radio shun justified. Radio 1 have had a vendetta against her and Capital was still pressed about the Elephant premier they missed out on.

Just missing out on that top 5 spot is the first single from Alexandra's sophomore album, Elephant.
Produced by Erick Morillo and written by Alexandra herself and 5 others, Elephant was supposed to be a new step in Alexandra's career.
But things went the other way around, as Alexandra got slammed for the use of auto-tune and radio's refused to spin the song to death.
Alexandra first premiered the song in remix form, The Sympho Nympho remix to be precise, on Radio 1.
It was a pretty lowkey premier and the presenter even said it was Erick's new song, instead of Alexandra drama.gif

Alexandra first teased the song by giving fans slight hints about Elephants. She had an Elephant cake, an Elephant necklace and she kept teasing the fans. A nightclub premier was supposed to take place in December, but that didn't happen and the release date was pushed back 2 weeks.

The official premier was meant to take place on Capital FM. However Alex's flop team send the song to radio stations ahead of it's premier, which resulted in some flop internet station premiering the song ahead of Capital, which then led to Capital cancelling the premier and shunning Alexandra's song from the airwaves.
The boss of Capital also made fun of the song on Twitter, which had angered fans.

But Elephant went well and charted at #3 and sold over 100k copies so far. It was nowhere near as big as it could've been, but we can thank Capital for that.
The song also went top 10 in Ireland, Malta and Bolivia, Top 20 in Slovakia, top 50 in Belgium (Flanders) and Croatia, as well as reaching #54 in The Czech Republic and #71 in Slovenia. True Queen of the Balcan Countries.

I still absolutely adore Elephant and play it regularly. It's the 2nd most played song in my iTunes library, followed by Let It Go kink.gif
Altho I am not amused the bitch blocked Europe from watching the video on her VeVo and instead I have to watch it on some lowkey European record label called X Energy Records, their channel.

Next up at #5 is a slight suprise for me. The Bruno Mars-penned Before It Explodes was always a favourite amongst the fans, but I never expected this this high.
Obviously not everyone voting for it factored in its success as there were less people to bring its average down.

Before It Explodes features vocals from Bruno himself and leaked after the Overcome release by 2 German boys working at SyCo. I thank them for bringing me this tune.
It didn't make the cut in the first place (wot Simon?!) but apparantly Simon wanted it on the Deluxe Edition, but Bruno had already sold the song to Charice and refused to feature on it as he wanted to focus on his own career. Too bad Simon, you just wasted a massive oppurtunity.

I absolutely adore Alexandra's and Bruno's voices together. They blend so well and sound so strong together.
I fully believe this could've been a #1 for Alexandra had they included it on the Deluxe Edition and released it instead of The Silence.

The people who haven't heard the song yet, please educate yourself

After Alexandra hit the scene with her cracking hit single Bad Boys, she further solidified her status as UK Pop Queen with the release of Broken Heels.
The song was widely compared to Beyoncé Single Ladies, due to the girl empowering message. It was not released in Europe, due to Bad Boys still smashing there.
The RedOne produced electropop song had a american football themed music video, showing off Alexandra's body. It was filmed in L.A. and choreographed by JaQuel Knight.

Broken Heels peaked at #8 in the UK after a 5-week climb. It has so far sold over 310k. It spend 2 weeks in the top 20 and a total of 22 in the top 100.
It also went top 3 on Polish Airplay, #3 in Scotland, #5 in Ireland and #17 in Slovakia and Bulgaria.

It racked up 4 11's and no less than a 7, so I think it is safe to say it is universally loved on Buzzjack.
I am very pleased to see this top 5. I absolutely adore the song, altho I'm still not sure if she sings "Ladies take the biggest cut" or "Ladies take the biggest cock" kink.gif

Opening our flawless top 3 is Alexandra's official debut single, Bad Boys featuring Flo Rida.
It was Alexandra's official breakthrough single. It was debuted on the The Chris Moyles Show on Alexandra's birthday. Before the debut, The Sun had already leaked lyrics from the song online.
The stomping electro-R&B tune was instantly called a hybrid between Girls Aloud' Biology and Britney's Womanizer. It was received with mostly positive reviews. Critics praised the songs "larger than life" chorus and Alexandra's vocals.

Bad Boys debuted at #1 on the UK singles chart with sales of over 187k. It has so far sold 860k. It also went to #1 in Ireland, #3 in Czech Republic and South Africa, #4 in Hungary, #6 in Sweden, #7 in Norway, #8 in The Netherlands, #9 in Bulgaria, #11 in Finland, #12 in Flanders and Switzerland, #14 in Germany, #22 in Austria, #25 in Autralia, #27 in Poland and #39 in Denmark.

It was the 9th best selling single in the UK in 2009, as well as the 153rd in 2010. It's also 2009's 8th best selling in Ireland and the 45th best performing single in The Netherlands. It is also the 68th best selling single of the 2000-2009 decade.

Alexandra performed Bad Boys 2 times on The X Factor UK, as well as The X Factor Holland, Queensday in The Netherlands, 20th Concert in Poland, Cheryl Cole's Night In, The Jingle Bell Ball and Ireland's Childline Concert in Dublin.

So our runner up of this rate ended up being The Silence by a 0.53 margin. The flawless ballad served as a promotional single in anticipation of the re-release of Overcome. It was voted over Perfect by the fans, which was a mistake in my opinion as the single was over a year old and featured on a multiplatinum album, which meant a lot of people already owned it. Had they gone with Perfect, it would've been a brand new song being released, which would've guaranteed Alexandra another top 10.

Critics praised Alexandra's vocal performance and the harmonies on the song.
The song was compared to the works of Bonnie Tyler and Beyoncé. Upon the release of Overcome the song charted at #95 on the UK singles chart. Upon it;s release as a promotional single, the re-worked version charted at #126, before leaping all the way to #16 after a magnificent performance on The X Factor.

The Silence peaked at #35 in Ireland and #66 in Switzerland, while peaking at #26 in Hungary.

The Silence was originally intended to be released as the third single of Overcome but was scrapped in favour of our #1 song, All Night Long.

All Night Long was released as the 3rd single off Overcome, in favour of The Silence. The song was remixed into a newer version with new instruments, some vocals removed and Pitbull's vocals added. It was the second European single from Overcome, after Bad Boys smashed its way onto the European charts.

Critics praised the song, saying it is the definition of a summer stomper, praising Alexandra's vocals, the harmonies in the song and brilliant verses. It was also nominated for a brit award for Best British Single and is regarded as her best single by her fans.

All Night Long debuted at #98 on the UK singles chart, due to the release of Overcome. It then re-entered the chart at #59 due to Airplay kicking in. After 2 months of climbing, it entered the top 10 at #8 in may 2010, after which the single version was released, which made it peak at #4.

The song also peaked at #24 in The Netherlands, #1 in Indonesia, #3 in Scotland, #24 in Slovakia, #38 in Latvia, #48 in Australia, #57 in Sweden, #60 in Germany and Switzerland and #83 in the Czech Republic.

The song was also sent to US radio, but got pulled from the adds after it flopped in Australia. Some radio stations had already started spinning it, but Simon was convinced Alexandra couldn't crack the US so they blew off the plans and never released All Night Long there. A shame really as it would've put her in a whole different position.

Glad 'The Silence' made the top 2! It really is flawless and 'All Night Long is a great winner.

The results are overall awful though because 'The Map' is not here. manson.gif

It only got like 5 votes so it didn't feel right to include them

Start Without You robbed tbh~ (and below 'Let it Go'? errrr)

Annoyed to see 'Elephant' land above 'Let It Go', there is no way on earth it's better.

Between The Sheets is faaaaar to low! Should've been top 10. And how on earth did Overcome manage to sneak #10!

Pleasantly surprised that Before It Explodes and The Silence made it so high!

Poor ha

I did rate this didn't I? ohmy.gif (genuine question - I'd be gutted if I didn't and it was to get a position or two higher if I did - woulda/shoulda got a 10 from me (or 9 at the very least)).

Great results though! Especially for this and 'All Night Long'! 'Bad Boys' should have finished higher than 'The Silence' though sad.gif (as great as that song is).
