These charts are about as fast moving as mine which is a refreshing change!

Of your new entries over the last few:
Malamente (ROSALIA), Vampire Weekend and potentially Mi Rumba & You Should See Me in a Crown (which hit me after hearing it in the brilliant Runaways) will be landing for me soon, as well as some of the James Blake tracks. Since I track by month brand new ones take a while to land.

It turns out that when I actually put more effort into listening to new music every week my taste actually is really fast moving. My old charts used to be much slower than this laugh.gif

I approve of potential Blake and ROSALÍA impakt x

Hello Bré!
Really like the James Blake tracks and the debut for "Longshot!
Great chart!

Thanks Sergej! Catfish finally making it in for at least the one week yay ~

A lot of new entries here but none that I particularly enjoy... oops
'7 Rings' from last week is growing for me a bit though, prefer it to 'Thank U, Next'.
Billie Eilish's new one is a lot better than the one in your top 5 so hopefully it enters high here!

I imagine you would quite like 'Ibrik' (turns out you have heard that and hate it xx), the rest are mostly things I wouldn't expect you to like in fairness.

'bury a friend' isn't as good as 'WHEN I WAS OLDER' for me yet but it is impacting my new chart which will be posted here in just a moment omg exciting ohmy.gif

The curse of #1 hits falling out of the top 3 when they leave the top carries on as 'Lullaby For My Insomniac' actually has the biggest drop from #1 in my revived chart so far, dipping to #7 after two weeks at the top oops. James Blake is still doing fine for himself though as he maintains 2 other tracks in the top 10 - 'Mile High' only falls one place to #3, holding up better with the music video release which has kept it in rotation for me more, while 'Barefoot In The Park' falls four places to #8.

Two guitar bands who had new entries last week zoom up to form a fresh top 2 this week - Vampire Weekend's 'Harmony Hall' climbs 7-1, providing the former Persephonian (or Egabbaci at the time) BJSC act what I think is their first #1 on any iteration of my chart, much overdue. Bring Me The Horizon have an even bigger climb with Grimes collab 'nihilist blues' zooming 15-2. My most obscure 'highest new entry' to date, the only brand new entry in the top 10 is Bladee's 'Trash Star' which launches at #4, he's a Swedish rapper who's associated with Yung Lean and makes music that requires a similar acquired taste so I'm probably not recommending this one to anyone (I know mdh hates him lmao), it's just something I like xx behind that, 21 Savage returns to the top 10 at a new peak of #5 with 'a lot' following the #promo of his bizarre news week (although it'd be climbing in my chart regardless, again because of a new music video, especially as that video has a new verse on the song that I wish was on the Spotify version as it makes the song even better). 21 also holds at #6 with his Metro Boomin collaboration '10 Freaky Girls'. There's more semi-obscure hip-hop in the top 10 as Boogie and J.I.D fly up 36-9 on their second week on the chart, while Donae'O sneaks a fifth week in the top 10, down seven places this week.

A ton more new entries lower down as is becoming standard. Second highest new entry goes to this week's random New Music Friday dance instrumental discovery from O'Flynn (checked it out after loving 'Desmond's Empire' in BJSC, this song is totally different but still awesome), just beating out the more mainstream choice of the new Billie Eilish single. That'll probably climb but for now it goes in at #15. Wiley's new bop with an iconic cast of guest appearances also enters in the top 20. A few songs from non-BJSC song contests make some belated impact, my own entries to Unknown Pleasures (Jade Cicada) and Club Bizarre (Brainwaltzera) plus my two favourite discoveries from UP (65daysofstatic and Cari Cari). Unfortunately couldn't find any room to chart any Club Bizarre discoveries, should have done last week but I forgot oops. Other new entries: The Chemical Brothers' new earworm, another Bring Me The Horizon track (a much more poppy one but the chorus really sticks in my mind), the new one from Florence + The Machine, another new Octavian song which is pretty trash lyrically but still a banger, a dark synthy cut from Poppy, a song from the Internet's new favourite meme rapper Blueface ('Thotiana' is still trash but I claim this one) and finally Lauv's collab with Troye Sivan who, fun fact, I was a fan of before Joseph ever was. xx

Oh CHRIST not Bladee laugh.gif Tbf "I Chose To Be This Way" by him is alright because he doesn't sound like he's about to have a stroke, but I can't say I'm a fan of that new one lol.

"a lot" and "Harmony Hall" are both great additions to the top 5.

Listen to "Spin The Block" by 22Gz, you'll either love it or hate it but I figured you're the only other person on the forum apart from myself that could possibly take anything from it x

Great chart biggrin.gif

Great to see Bring Me The Horizon doing well here as well as the new entries for Billie Eilish and Florence + The Machine!

Also especially pleased to find 65daysofstatic in your chart too, thanks for giving the superb Unmake The Wild Light your top vote in UP XXVII!

Haha. I knew you'd appreciate that one! biggrin.gif This was actually the first time I'd ever listened to Bladee although I knew of him because of his association with Yung Lean, I was pleasantly surprised xx

Just given that 22Gz song a listen and I enjoyed it quite a bit! Nice to hear Kodak not sounding awful on a song again for once.

~

Vampire Weekend manage to follow James Blake in being a two week #1, time will tell if they'll now plummet after their second week at #1 as well... or perhaps they might even stay #1 for a third week, wouldn't that be mad? In fact my top 2 both stay put this week for the first time in my chart revival as Bring Me The Horizon hold firm at #2. 21 Savage takes up the rest of the top 4 as he hits another new peak with 'a lot' up two places to #3 (as it is now one of only two songs that have featured in all 7 of my charts of 2019 so far alongside J.I.D & J. Cole's 'Off Deez', oops x) while '10 Freaky Girls' with Metro Boomin cracks the top 5 after two weeks just outside, climbing 6-4. BJSC songs aren't dominating my chart as much as I expected them to, at least not this month, but my fave entry of the BJSC 111 final, Sho Madjozi's 'Huku', does grab highest new entry status as it goes in at #5. My own entry from In The Loop re-enters the top 10 at #10 and there are two more BJSC newies (De Staat and Ferdinand Dreyssig et al.) lower down plus a re-entry for Vulfpeck who match the position they first entered and peaked at.

James Blake and Bladee fall three places each to #6 and #7, Boogie and J.I.D continue to climb up to #8 and Billie Eilish cracks the top 10 in her second week with 'bury a friend' as she did with 'WHEN I WAS OLDER', climbing 15-9. I still like 'WHEN I WAS OLDER' more but time will tell if this one will have more longevity. The highest non-BJSC new entry is Sam Fender's 'Play God' which lands in at #20, was surprised at how much I liked this after not caring at all for the couple of songs I'd heard from him before. Ahead of that there's a re-entry at a new peak of #16 for Meek Mill and Drake who have been back in rotation for me following the release of its cinematic music video.

Other new entries: Buddy's 'Link Up' featuring a whole bunch of people including J.I.D (like with 'Soho' I only checked this out because J.I.D is on it, he has quite the golden touch for me so far x), a couple of somewhat belatedly Radio 1 playlisted dance bangers from Axwell and Friend Within, another Theophilus London & Tame Impala collab (which sounds far more like I expected that collab to sound than 'Only You' did), MARINA's surprisingly lovely comeback single, a track from Ólafur Arnalds' album from last year which was on New Music Friday following the release of a music video (didn't know NMF did that but I'm glad they did as it was a good chance for me to hear this song x), a belated debut for Cadet (RIP) with 'Advice' which I'm now appreciating a bit more than I was before, Mustard & Migos' collab which is completely just a generic Migos song but has grown on me, and the new one from TR/ST off double BJSC wins fame. CamelPhat et al also re-enter at a new peak of #29 coinciding with them entering the UK top 40 because I'm still a mainstream whore sometimes.

Hey there Brerrrrr wub.gif

I approve of all the BJSC new entries this week, particularly Ferdinand Dreyssig and Marvin Hey <3 it's cool that we had the exact same thought process when we first listened to that song, where it grew on us more and more as the song progressed. We simply cannot refuse the #longsongbloc it seems! I have not heard any of the other non-BJSC new entries here (except 'Advice' of course, RIP </3) but I shall get on 'em soon, looking forward to MARINA and TR/ST in particular.

That progress for Billie, 21 Savage and The Chemical Brothers wub.gif

Great chart xx

great to see Ferdinand Dreyssig et al and Axwell here and CamelPhat re-peaking, and I also like the De Staat, Friend Within, Cadet and Mustard newies.
'bury a friend' is probably my fave in the top 10 at the moment though 'a lot' may overtake, I'd still rank 'when the party's over' above it at the moment.

Indeed *. (although I am resisting the #longsongbloc in the next contest and sending my 2nd shortest entry to date, oh my).

Getting this up a couple of days late despite making the chart on time again oop xx #slacking. Also my highest new entry this week doesn't have a non-Topic upload on YouTube which gives me a convenient opportunity to try out the new novelty of Spotify embedding magic.gif

After having a relatively stable top 5 including a non-moving top 2 last week, it's all change this time as there are 4 new entries in the top 5, including both of the top 2. Vampire Weekend slip to #3 after two weeks at the top (the first #1 on my 2019 charts to not fall out of the top 3 after leaving the top xx). It was a close battle for #1 between rappers from both sides of the Atlantic, but it's local talent that wins out as AJ Tracey makes his grand debut on my charts going straight in at #1 with 'Ladbroke Grove', bringing back a nostalgic old skool UK garage sound (still technically an album track but it seems to be the most popular one so hopefully will be made a single). His last proper single 'Psych Out!' simultaneously makes a belated debut at #37. Travis Scott settles for #2 again, three weeks after peaking there with his James Blake collab, this time debuting with 'CAN'T SAY' which is over six months old now but I'm only hearing it now it's got a music video because I'm lazy at listening to albums. This song is made by the uncredited feature Don Toliver whose verse is great x Travis also has a second new entry this week, making a belated splash with previous single 'YOSEMITE' (with uncredited Gunna and NAV) at #35, this one I had heard before but didn't really get much into until now. Another American rapper, Trippie Redd enters at #4 with 'TIME TO DIE' featuring the awfully named FreeMoney800, Trippie is hit or miss for me but this new song (which is still not even on Spotify xx) is produced by the same person who was behind 'Topanga' which was one of my favourite songs of last year and this one is great too (not sure why it has such a gloomy title though as the lyrics don't relate at all). The last high debut is the considerably more mainstream pick of Ariana Grande's recent UK #1 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored' which easily overtakes '7 rings' as my fave from the era to date, charting 7 places higher and I suspect it'll spend a bit longer than three weeks in my chart this time xx

The lower half of the top ten is mostly fallers, with 21 Savage retreating to #6, Bring Me The Horizon having a 5 place tumble to #7 (seems harsh but it's just cos of all the new entries x), James, Travis & Metro slipping to #9 and Billie Eilish sneaking a second top 10 week at #10 (could still climb again). The exception is Sam Fender who rises 12 places to #8 with 'Play God' on his second week on the chart. BRITs impakt (but not really cos he was barely acknowledged there). There are 6 other new entries lower down, with ionnalee and UNKLE/Michael Kiwanuka (the latter coming from the same soundtrack as 'WHEN I WAS OLDER', and yes, Michael Kiwanuka still exists *.) making a splash after just missing out last week, while former Jadakissnia artiste K Á R Y Y N lands a new entry with a collaboration with an artificial intelligence (some pretty harsh instrumental sounds here but it sounds good to me) and the new entries are completed by the new one from Jessie Ware, a grime throwback from Unknown T (sampling an early Tinie Tempah track) and a very belated low debut for Calvin Harris' latest hit with Rag'n'Bone Man which has been slowly growing on me for weeks. Lauv & Troye also return at a new peak after being slightly prematurely thrown out last week.

It's another week with a brand new entry at #1, although if I wasn't hiding it from my chart due to it being my still-confidential current BJSC entry it would have been charting for a couple of weeks already (and possibly even already at #1 the previous week), it's up and coming female rapper Rico Nasty's short and aggressive bangerino 'Roof'. Coming to DNQ but at least I know issa bop. Incidentally this is the second #1 on my revived charts that's produced by Kenny Beats (following JPEGMAFIA's 'Puff Daddy' on which he was a credited artist). Rico has a second new entry lower down, but this one is a genuine new entry as it was a new song from her that happened to drop just before confirmations for BJSC closed; her feature on the trashy bop 'Tia Tamera' by Doja Cat (of 'bitch I'm a cow' fame), which lands in at #12. It's an all female top 2 as Ariana Grande climbs three places to #2 with 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored', while her album track 'bad idea' also makes a slightly belated splash at #17 (I've not heard the album in full but am slowly making my way through all the tracks and this is easily the best of the album tracks I've heard so far). Last week's #1 from AJ Tracey slips to #3 (still yet to have a #1 slip only one place thinking.gif) and the top 5 is completed by Vampire Weekend dropping one to #4 and Travis Scott falling three places to #5.

Two songs make hefty climbs into the top 10, with TR/ST's 'Gone' surging for a second straight week to #6 after debuting in the very tail end of the top 40 two weeks ago (while he too has a new song impacting this week, 'Unbleached' making a bigger debut of #22), and ionnalee shooting up 16 places to #10 with 'OPEN SEA'. Sam Fender also advances another place to a new peak of #7 while Trippie Redd and Bring Me The Horizon drop to #8 and #9 respectively. In yet another busy week there are ten more new entries. Juice WRLD missed out on a new entry with the heavily ~emo~ 'Robbery' last week but it's grown considerably now and debuts just short of the top 10, Dave's excellent anti-racism track also launches in the top 15 and there's a top 20 debut for Petit Biscuit with a gloriously glitchy electronic track, a refreshing new sound for him. Duke Dumont enters in the top 30 with a seedy 2am club vibes bop and the lower quarter of the chart features a bunch of hip-hop songs of various stripes (shouty punky rap from slowthai, lyrical 'conscious' rap from Boogie and Eminem, trashy UK drill from DigDat and Loski, more of JPEGMAFIA's trademark ultra aggressive rap as a guest on a sadly far too short banger from HEALTH, and even a bit of Chinese language rap from Higher Brothers, helped out by being this week's obligatory new entry with a J.I.D feature). The odd one out is The Amazons who sneak in with some Radio 1 friendly rock. They're apparently from Reading. I support local talent! There's also one re-entry for J. Cole who gets a new peak with 'MIDDLE CHILD' following the release of its music video.

Hi Bré, haven't commented on here in a while so thought I'd do it now!

Giving your #1 a listen now, yeah once again sounds like your sort of thing and not mine tongue.gif She sounds very Card B-esque.

Heard Black on the chart show this afternoon, a very poignant song with a strong message, should be charting higher than it is sad.gif

Giving the UNKLE song you charted a listen now as well, quite different from their other stuff but still sounding nice nonetheless!

Great chart biggrin.gif

hi Bray!

wasn't a huge fan of your BJSC entry sadly
listening to Ladbroke Grove now, sounding great; we don't have enough garage tunes these days.
liking Robbery and Black from your new entries.

great chart!

Duke Dumont's song is a little different from him and more of an underground release than anything but yes, would still recommend cool.gif x

I am shocked and chagrinned!!! But yeah, this entry wasn't exactly part of 'project appeal to Niceland', we'll get that done some time this year... maybe x (your entry on the other hand was great and would have got pretty high points from me, aw). 'Black' did pretty well to even make the top 40 really, it's a fantastic song but doesn't really strike me as the sort of thing people would stream on loop! Glad you enjoyed the UNKLE song as well ~

It's ok, no one was sob.gif kink.gif I'm really hoping 'Ladbroke Grove' will get pushed as a proper single soon so it has a chance of going top 40, though not holding my breath for that (especially as he's just dropped a video for 'Necklace' instead) - it's holding up well as an album track though so the demand is there for a UKG revival!!

I hadn't exactly planned to be charting 5 songs by The Prodigy this week but in the wake of the awful news about Keith Flint (RIP), I've been whacking on their discography all week so it has to be reflected in here! I could easily have charted way more of their classic tracks but I'm holding it back a bit to leave some room for more current releases (consider all their others to be on ACR x), as it were the two highest charting songs are from their most recent album 'No Tourists' anyway. 'We Live Forever' was already one of the highlights of the album for me but stands out even more in the wake of the news, it goes in at the top spot to give my favourite act of all time a new #1 song on my chart, it's their fourth #1 on the various incarnations of my chart (following 'Take Me To The Hospital', 'Invaders Must Die' and 'Nasty', while 'The Day Is My Enemy' peaked at #2 only blocked from the top by 'Nasty', and Liam Howlett also has a 5th #1 as a solo artist featuring on Pendulum's 'Immunize') and they'd probably have had more if my chart was still going during the launch of the 'No Tourists' era last year, and indeed if my earliest charts started a bit earlier (I started too late for 'Omen' and 'Warrior's Dance' to have their full impact, both would have been easy #1s as well). Back to my current chart, 'Timebomb Zone' makes a belated debut at #4 after only just missing out on being in the top 40 of my first chart of the year, and the album's second single 'Light Up The Sky' makes an impression at #24, while their two biggest obvious classics 'Breathe' and 'Firestarter' (my favourite and second favourite song of all time respectively), both prominently featuring Keith's vocals, fight through the ACR to land on my current chart at #11 and #16.

Blocked from achieving his first #1 by these unfortunate circumstances, Sam Fender's 'Play God' continues to climb all the way up to #2, while TR/ST proves to have another grower on his hands as 'Unbleached' now leapfrogs 'Gone' in the chart and easily beats its peak, climbing up to #3. The highest non-The Prodigy new entry is KH (aka Four Tet) with his addictive Nelly Furtado sampling 8 minute (we don't believe in radio edits x) floorfiller 'Only Human' which goes in at #5. Octavian this week released a new version of 'Bet', with Skepta now added to the features alongside Michael Phantom, which drives the song that previously peaked here at #27 to re-enter at a new peak of #7. Still lazy and trashy. Still a bop. Juice WRLD's 'Robbery' continues to rapidly grow on me and jumps to #6 giving Juice his third top 10 hit, maybe still a third top 5 next week, and the top 10 is completed by three falling former #1s, AJ Tracey's 'Ladbroke Grove' down to #8, Vampire Weekend's 'Harmony Hall' dropping to #9 on its current Bré chart era record 6th week in the top 10 and... er... Rico Nasty's 'Roof' falling from #1 to #10 which may be the biggest drop from #1 in my charts ever oops xx it was a pretty busy week in terms of new songs entering high rotation for me in addition to me not listening to it so much following its complete bombing in BJSC kink.gif

The rest of this week's crop of 17 new entries: Grammy nominated weirdo female rapper Tierra Whack just missing the top 20 with a song that appears to be a parody of mumble rap (complete with using 'ad lib!' as an ad lib *.*), a pretty and artsy Japanese track from N-qia which got my top points in the most recent PopJustice Song Contest, a new electronic-y pop-y track from five time BJSC entrant Kitty (which is still not on Spotify boo), Gesaffelstein and Pharrell Williams' gloriously 80s-y collab (thankfully much better and less problematic than 'Lost In The Fire'), the standout track from Ólafur Arnalds' 're:member' album which I finally listened to this week, a really weird but strangely compelling collaboration between 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar (there's no token J.I.D feature this week so I had to make do with Kendrick's first feature of the year x), also produced by Pharrell, a belated entry for Swarmz and Tion Wayne's GRM Daily bop (growing on me following the release of a new feature-filled remix although the original is still better), an Emeli Sandé-esque belter from Grace Carter, a bit of euphoric pure pop (a rarity in here x) from Carly Rae Jepsen, a new track from MJ Cole that sees him return to his UK garage roots and finally mdh's fave Bladee scraping a second top 40 hit on my chart with a drained out collaboration with Varg (some DJ, not the more infamous Varg of Burzum fame x) (edit: he later changed his name to Varg²™, now retroactively amended). Also 21 Savage's 'a lot' is officially the last song standing that has appeared in all 10 of my 2019 charts. Songs reaching 10 weeks in my top 40 may now prove to be a fairly rare achievement.

Hello Bré!
What sad and tragic news. I've heard the on german radio while working and it was shocking to say the least.
So it's nice to see a lot of Prodigy songs in your chart!
Out of all the debuts (except for the Prodigy debuts), my favourite was "Blast Off", such an amazing song with great production!
Great chart!

Delighted to see "Unbleached" so high - came here to say that I'm now obsessed with Bladee and Yung Lean laugh.gif "Trash Star" really is great isn't it.

I don't know why it took so long for me to click with the whole sad rap scene but I can't get enough of it right now wub.gif "Kyoto" and "Yoshi City" by Yung Lean are incredible.

hi Bré!

01 ** 01 / The Prodigy - We Live Forever / 1- I prefer most of their classics but this is sounding good, a fitting #1 too. sad.gif
06 11 02 / Juice WRLD - Robbery / 11-6- looks like Fast is going to overtake this in the chart soon, was hoping this would be a bit bigger
39 ** 01 / MJ Cole - Serotonin / 39- this is great! MJ Cole has to be one of the more surprising comebacks recently but I'm enjoying his new output

great chart!
