41-45
41. Tove Lo - No One Dies From Love (28-16-29-19-16-9-5-9-9-25-33-36-24-xx) [13 wks] 42. Overmono - Bone Mics (40-16-2-2-5-5-16-17-39-26-34-45-48-xx) [13 wks] 43. Sam Girling - Can't Help U (49-19-12-11-11-16-27-15-31-41-35-43-39-xx) [13 wks] 44. Skin On Skin & X CLUB. - Rise Up (5-1-2-5-5-18-30-48-42-xx) [9 wks] 45. Willo - Past Time (16-8-5-9-7-20-25-37-27-11-11-36-xx) [12 wks] Willo appears for a 2nd time with her debut hit "Past Time" which I discovered on the EELF YouTube channel. It's a lovely nostalgic downtempo tune that builds to a wistful crescendo at the end. The other Kathaldazia BJSC techno smash "Rise Up" finished at a surprising 4th in the contest. This one has a more drive time progressive breaks sound to it. One of my fave entries of the year that deserved a better chart run in hindsight. Sam Girling is one to watch next year. His debut hit on my chart "Can't Help U" is a right foot tapper and portrays a story of an elderly man's grief with Tokyo's youth discovering dance music. It has an outsider house sound with a great liquid breakdown. Back to my faves Overmono, "Bone Mics" literally ate, reminiscent of early Burial and Joy Orbison, the entire song bar the vocal was produced on 1 MS-20 synth. Tove Lo returned on her own independent label with a pop masterpiece in "No One Dies From Love". Most (if not all) of the forum love and know this song as they should. Thanks for all the comments so far 💞 |

36-40
36. Pretty Girl - Empathy (20-36-16-3-3-7-2-5-18-10-3-19-15-12-22-41-xx) [16 wks] 37. I. JORDAN - Always Been (48-20-12-12-17-4-2-4-6-31-41-27-39-xx) [13 wks] 38. Joy Orbison & Overmono - Blind Date (24-8-12-7-9-5-4-7-20-21-24-41-...) [12 wks] 39. TSHA feat. Clementine Douglas - Dancing In The Shadows (10-11-32-15-7-10-20-29-39-28-36-49-xx) [12 wks] 40. Earth Trax - Afloat (6-5-6-27-35-30-29-28-30-47-33-25-23-xx) [13 wks] Kicking off the top 40 on an ambient breakbeat note with Polish producer Earth Trax's gorgeous "Afloat" which became his 2nd top 5 smash on my chart. I kept going back to this one a lot as it had a massive calming effect on me. TSHA's 2nd EOY appearance "Dancing In The Shadows" features a huge vocal from Clementine Douglas and an equally huge breakdown from 2:50 onwards that sends me skyward every time. The goated collab between Joy Orbison and Overmono (the latter making their 3rd appearance on my EOY now) is a dizzying banger with a chopped ABRA sample and epic extended breakdown I. JORDAN's "Always Been" narrowly missed the top spot earlier this year. It's a joyous, whimsical crowd pleaser with perfectly timed drops. Pretty Girl, the current reigning queen of my personal chart this week, had a huge #2 hit at the start of the year with "Empathy" from her 2021 EP. I love the unpredictable structure of this one. A melancholic, call and response track that walks a lovely tightrope, perfectly balanced in both vocals and production. |

'Rise Up' will be in my EOY somewhere as will 'No One Dies From Love' but the latter I didn't quite get the hype over I'm afraid, did chart it but didn't hang about.

Giving Dancing In The Shadows a listen now, I'm really enjoying the tune! That sound (especially the instrumental beyond the halfway mark) definitely takes me back a few years.

"Dancing In The Shadows" is great, it did make my weekly top 40 but won't be in my EOY chart. On a par with "Sister" for her best song to date.
I also enjoyed "Always Been" a fair bit from I. Jordan, the retro wave influence in it is great. "No One Dies From Love" is a great pop effort, my fave from her in many years besides the Martin Garrix collab from last year - in hindsight I did under rate it a lot in my chart. "Rise Up" I of course enjoyed in BJSC although I don't remember if I actually gave it (m)any points, I did prefer Skin On Skin's more recent entry "Burn Dem Bridges". "Empathy" a pretty nice song from a Pretty Girl, I gave it a couple of listens alongside "Arc" and "Forever". |

Amazing to hear Rise Up will be in yours as well Giving Dancing In The Shadows a listen now, I'm really enjoying the tune! That sound (especially the instrumental beyond the halfway mark) definitely takes me back a few years. I'm glad you like it! We don't get enough of those sort of breakdowns these days "Dancing In The Shadows" is great, it did make my weekly top 40 but won't be in my EOY chart. On a par with "Sister" for her best song to date. I also enjoyed "Always Been" a fair bit from I. Jordan, the retro wave influence in it is great. "Empathy" a pretty nice song from a Pretty Girl, I gave it a couple of listens alongside "Arc" and "Forever". Both Pretty Girl and I. JORDAN 's hit rate with me is super consistent. Great to hear you like all those. Thanks Dan |

31-35
31. Mona Yim - Dots Obsession (2-2-10-8-7-10-8-5-18-38-26-38-xx) [12 wks] 32. Overmono - Gunk (28-9-6-5-10-19-3-4-16-12-12-11-38-50-xx) [14 wks] 33. O'Flynn & Frazer Ray - Holsten (8-3-6-11-14-12-9-15-16-27-35-28-29-...) [13 wks] 34. Elkka - I Just Want To Love You (48-5-1-8-9-27-38-17-22-29-30-30-27-12-...) [14 wks] 35. Shygirl - Shlut (5-1-3-5-10-9-8-17-26-36-45-43-...) [12 wks] Shygirl got a 2nd chart topper with "Shlut" which was released just before the album drop. It has one of the craziest choruses of the year. She literally doesn't stop for a breath. "I Just Want to Love You" became Elkka's 3rd number one on my chart. It's a really special and warm piece of breezy house, further enhanced by a recently released Club version. O'Flynn and Frazer Ray released one of my fave electronic albums of the year with Shimmer. "Holsten" became the biggest hit from the album. It has exquisite sound design and I especially love the muted, lush drop paired with a more intense build-up. Overmono's "Gunk" became an instant classic and another top 10 on my chart (I've lost track how many they've had now). The vocal chops are insane on this one, a massive banger. Mona Yim is a rising female producer talent and one to watch out for next year. "Dots Obsession" has a curiously low-key, almost haunting, late-night sound ala Pretty Girl that became an obsession of mine, spending an impressive 2 months in my top 10. |

26-30
26. TDJ - Addictive/Predictive (21-2-3-7-21-27-23-7-3-7-22-25-17-39-45-xx) [15 wks] 27. Caroline Polachek - Billions (38-6-3-2-11-17-11-19-3-3-14-17-44-41-xx) [14 wks] 28. HAAi feat. Obi Franky - Purple Jelly Disc (1-1-10-6-5-17-38-27-14-24-32-35-33-xx) [13 wks] 29. Luke Sandler - Don't Think (Dave DK Remix) (1-1-1-5-12-6-10-33-29-xx) [9 wks] 30. Burial & Four Tet - Nova (6-1-2-1-10-26-37-24-7-6-10-37-xx) [12 wks] Starting off the top 30, we have a Burial and Four Tet track from 2009 (?!) that only got a Spotify release and single push this year. The adjective that comes to mind is, pure classic. The melancholic nostalgic vibe this has is unreal. Luke Sandler spent an impressive 3 weeks at the top at the start of the year with this beautiful Dave DK mix of "Don't Think". The stuttering instrumental builds to a blissful vocal climax. I had considered sending it to BJSC but felt it may be too low key to be fully appreciated. "Purple Jelly Disc" became HAAi's first number one on my chart. It's a bonkers 90s rave stomper that some may know from finishing top 5 in BJSC. I had confirmed it for that contest but was beaten by Aeroche to it by a couple of minutes. The song also became HAAi's first song to make the Multichart. Caroline Polachek's "Billions" became a massive #2 hit earlier in the year, the first of 3 top 5s for her. This track was so unique and fresh, unlike anything you could imagine. I especially love the vocals on the 2nd verse. Like Caroline, TDJ also was unlucky with her trancey #2 smash "Addictive/Predictive" which became her hugest hit on my chart since "Open Air" from last year. Pleasingly, I noticed TDJ has built up a great underground following since I entered her to BJSC. Her videos now get sizeable YouTube views and her debut album got a 5 star review from Sputnikmusic staff. |

21-25
21. Shygirl - Cleo (21-23-9-3-2-2-2-4-9-9-7-13-7-15-24-40-38-36-15-18-45-47-xx) [22 wks] 22. Fred again.. - Danielle (smile on my face) (3-1-2-4-8-8-4-13-29-31-35-47-47-44-...) [14 wks] 23. Shygirl - Coochie (a bedtime story) (43-14-13-9-3-8-22-4-6-21-20-13-17-39-xx) [14 wks] 24. Daniel Avery feat. HAAi - Wall Of Sleep (9-4-9-10-7-20-6-3-16-15-6-9-14-...) [13 wks] 25. Fred again.. & I. JORDAN - Admit It (U Don't Want 2) (10-5-16-3-8-15-9-29-30-22-49-45-13-21-18-18-40-xx) [17 wks] Fred again.. released the pair of ravey bangers in "Lights Out" and "Admit It" at the start of the year. I was in the minority who preferred the more underground sound of "Admit It" with its Ariana Grande sample. Fred is also in this section with "Danielle (smile on my face)" which became his first chart topper for me. The uplifting bassline and 070 Shake sample were just the perfect combination. Daniel Avery and HAAi finds themselves in a Fred again/ Shygirl sandwich with the magical "Wall Of Sleep". The euphoric energy this track had really resonated with me. Awesomeness magnificent wonderful track lovely vocals. Shygirl's "Coochie" was too catchy to resist and a huge grower. The Radio 1 "Cutie" edit is a scream. Her 2021 single "Cleo" with its gorgeous strings and cinematic club soundscape managed a long enough 2022 chart run to appear here. Its 22 weeks makes it one of the longest running hits on my chart to-date. |

Billions, Cleo and Coochie <3 Cleo is one of my favourite Shygirl songs, I love the club sound she's going for there. The Radio 1 edit of Coochie is kind of iconic too

Giving Danielle a listen now, sounds like a decent dance song, I like the beat! Even if I can't work out a lot of the lyrics
