Following their #1 album Little Fictions in 2017, elbow are back with their upcoming 8th album! The lead single 'Dexter & Sinister' is out today:
glad they're back, one of the best UK bands
can't wait to go home and listen
Not a fan of this one but presumably it's not the actual first single. Hoping there's some good stuff on this album.
I quite like it, it’s different sounding and I can imagine it working well within an album.
I found with album 7 that 6 Elbow albums was probably enough, but there were still a couple of really good singles from it. This is ok on first listen, but their songs do tend to be growers.
Yes I think I know what you mean. I actually liked quite a lot of the last album but very little felt like I really needed it after earlier albums.
Mind you there's not really many of their albums that I choose to listen to all the way through, I think it's only the Seldom Seen Kid that I'd choose to play these days.
Album is titled 'Giants of All Sizes' and out 11th October!
'Empires' was released on Wednesday, liking this a lot more than 'Dexter & Sinister'!
'White Noise White Heat' was released on Friday
Saw them perform it on The Graham Norton Show the same day - enjoyed it.
Yeh the song they performed was very good!
This is the first full album from them I've actually listened to (of course I've heard lots of older songs on their own) and I really enjoyed it! I definitely plan to listen to their other albums now.
Some fantastic songs here - my two absolute favourites being Empires and My Trouble - both of which are now on my playlist.
my fav old Elbow album is The seldom seen kid, highly recommended if you've never listened in full, it has their "big hit" (One Day like This) but also amazing rockier tracks like Ground for Divorce
A brillant album and their peak so late in their career was great to see, it couldn't be ignored either!!
One Day Like This is Probably one of the great songs of the century so far culturally!
I was reminded of their cover of Golden Slumbers earlier, absolutely love their version of that. Great that it went top 40 too!
Yeh a fantastic song/cover.
Reminds me has anyone heard anything About the John Lewis Ad yet? It'll be coming in 2-3 weeks!
A cert for Number 1 this week based on the information released today.
This is better than I was expecting from them... I wasn't overly sold on the singles but I really enjoyed Seven Veils, The Delayed 3:15, My Trouble, On Deronda Road and Weightless.
Amazing - would love to know how many copies of the special edition album day CD they shifted, it was all over social media and loads of places were sold out of it.
Likely to be around 5,000 i would predict.
Oooooh hope you're not disappointed now! It's not Seldom Seen Kid quality or anything, just quite a bit better than I was expecting...
It's all quite nice until the last two which would be amongst the finest on any of their albums.
And it's now their 3rd consecutive #1 album!
