I can't see a thread for this yet, but this season's Capital One Cup got underway tonight with my team Derby winning 2-0 at Carlisle! Derby dominated but Carlisle put in a very good performance, in particular their goalkeeper who got the Man of the Match award afterwards.

Typical Bristol City - always losing against League 2 opposition at home in the first round of the Capital One Cup. Our record in this competition is abysmal.

It seems like it was a great game but it was actually the Bees that won on penalties. wink.gif

Derby through to the third round after getting a late winner against Charlton! From what I've heard it sounded like we dominated so we deserved that! biggrin.gif

MK Dons beating Manchester United 4-0 now though! ohmy.gif Unbelievable!

It says a lot about the League Cup when even Bournemouth have made seven changes from Saturday's league game. Nevertheless they still managed to beat Northampton 3-0.

So humiliating. What an absolute disaster this is. I don't even know where to begin with fixing this squad apart from handing P45's out left right and centre tomorrow morning.

Call me old-fashioned but I still cannot accept Franchise FC's right to be in the competition.

Awful management from van Gaal. Such an average bunch of players.

The people that tipped them for the title - LOL. At this rate they have about 40 players for 40 games.

Surprised at the squad picked to be honest. Thought LVG would have gone stronger since they are only in 3 competitions this season

Or maybe he underestimated MK Dons?

People are overreacting to the result.

It could have been seen as a potential way back into European competition unless they are treating the Europa League with total disdain. However, this year's Europa League winners qualify for the Champions League so there is now a good reason to treat it more seriously.

I was hugely disappointed to see that MK Dons had won 4-0. It makes Sunderland's 1-1 draw look like a poor result.

You're kidding right. Even if it was a second string team, there is no way a club of Manchester United's stature should be losing 4-0 to a League One team.

End of the day the competition is silverware. Just hilarious how deluded people are to the situation they're in!

Or just an opportunity to win silverware early?

Burton knocked out QPR tonight! biggrin.gif

Quite a few all Premier League ties for the third round, the full draw should be available somewhere soon!

Can't believe MK Dons beat Man Utd and Burton beat QPR
It feels kind of nice not even being in the 1st round of this cup anymore as I don't really like it

One of Burton's best results since they changed their name from Nigel Clough's Burton Albion in 2009.
