Justin Timberlake's Official Top 20 biggest songs
08 September 2016 By Justin Myers To celebrate 10 years since his first Number 1, we nose through his biggest tracks. 10 years ago this week, Justin Timberlake finally scored his very first Number 1 in the UK, almost four years after launching his solo career. The song that made him a chart-topper was, of course, SexyBack – perhaps the pop world's greatest song about taking something back to a shop. To celebrate the track's Number 1 anniversary, we have a good old poke through the archives, crunch some numbers and reveal his biggest songs. The Top 5 Counting sales and streams, Justin's Top 5 looks a little something like this: Mirrors was a big comeback for Justin when it hit Number 1 in 2013. It was his first chart-topper in almost five years and paved the way for his first album for SEVEN years – The 20/20 Experience Part 1. Mirrors ruled the top spot for three weeks and has a stellar combined chart sales tally of 918,000. In second spot, we're bang up to date, with his latest single Can't Stop The Feeling racking up combined sales of 852,470, with the split between downloads and streams pretty much 50/50. The track, taken from the movie Trolls, was kept off Number 1 by chart-topping juggernaut One Dance, from Drake. Up next? That very first chart-topper. SexyBack was another career-defining moment for JT, shifting away from the poppy R&B of debut album Justified and homing in on a sharper, more electronic sound. Despite distorted vocals and barely making a cameo himself on his own chorus – leaving the bulk of the work to his old pal Timbaland – SexyBack became a signature track for Justin and went straight in at the top, with over 634,000 chart sales to its name. Justin is famed for his all-star collaborations, and up in fourth is possibly his starriest of them all. Justin teamed up with Madonna for 4 Minutes, the lead single from her 2008 album Hard Candy. It was a winning combination – the track spent 4 weeks at Number 1, which is Justin's longest run at the top, and boasts over 535,000 combined sales. Rounding off our Top 5 is Justin's biggest song from 2003 debut album is Cry Me A River, the one that got everybody talking. Fresh form his breakup with Britney Spears, Justin played on public interest by casting a woman who had more than a passing resemblance to his ex in the video. Match that with the song's theme of infidelity and you've got tabloid gold, basically – not to mention chart gold! Cry Me A River got no further than Number 2 – kept off the top by tATu's All The Things She Said – but has over 492,000 chart sales under its belt. Other notable entries Another megastar collaboration, this time with hip-hop legend Jay Z, finishes just outside the Top 5. Holy Grail was JT's last Top 10 hit before Can't Stop The Feeling, reaching Number 7 in 2013. Its chart sales tally stands at 443,000. Ciara collabo Love Sex & Magic just misses Justin's Top 10 big ones, as do his solo debut Like I Love You (Number 2 in 2002) and his 2007 Number 1 with Timbaland, Give It To Me. It may not have made the Top 10, but Rihanna teamup Rehab – try saying that after a few vodka and tonics – still comes in 17th, with Senorita, the only single from Justified to miss the Top 10, right behind it. It's certainly become a modern-day favourite and is even catching up with 4 Minutes! |
