Biography

David Guetta
From his early days playing Chicago house in French discotheques to his long reign atop the pop charts, David Guetta has revolutionised dance music multiple times. Born in Paris in 1967, Guetta began DJing in the late ’80s, when the shimmery sound known as the “French touch” was taking shape. By the early 2000s, at his F*** Me I’m Famous parties in Ibiza, he had translated that melodic style into a clever merger of pop sass and club swagger. He parlayed that mix into pure platinum with hits like 2003’s “Just for One Day”, an energy-stoking rework of David Bowie’s “Heroes”, and 2002’s “Just a Little More Love”, a sultry bump-and-grind featuring R&B singer Chris Willis. That versatility—along with a knack for killer hooks—would become one of Guetta’s principal calling cards, and as EDM exploded across pop culture at the end of the 2000s, Guetta’s shapeshifting style led the way, yielding ecstatic affirmations (“When Love Takes Over”), feisty come-ons (“Sexy Bitch”) and unstoppable singalongs (The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling”, which Guetta produced). Since then, his collaborations (Sia, Nicki Minaj) have kept listeners guessing even as his choruses—triumphant as a bottle of bubbly blowing its top—have proven one of pop’s most dependable pleasures. - iTunes

Sia
Sia Kate Isobelle Furler (/ˈsiːə/ SEE-ə; born 18 December 1975) is an Australian singer, songwriter, voice actress and director. She started her career as a singer in the acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s in Adelaide. In 1997, when Crisp disbanded, she released her debut studio album, titled OnlySee, in Australia. She moved to London, England, and provided vocals for the British duo Zero 7. In 2000, Sia released her second studio album, Healing Is Difficult, and her third studio album, Colour the Small One, in 2004, but all of these struggled to connect with a mainstream audience.

Sia relocated to New York City in 2005 and toured in the United States. Her fourth and fifth studio albums, Some People Have Real Problems and We Are Born, were released in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Each was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association and attracted wider notice than her earlier albums. Uncomfortable with her growing fame, Sia took a hiatus from performing, during which she focused on songwriting for other artists, producing successful collaborations "Titanium" (with David Guetta), "Diamonds" (with Rihanna) and "Wild Ones" (with Flo Rida).

In 2014, Sia broke through as a solo recording artist when her sixth studio album, 1000 Forms of Fear, debuted at No 1 in the U.S. Billboard 200 and generated the top-ten single "Chandelier" and a trilogy of music videos co-directed by Sia and starring child dancer Maddie Ziegler. Since then, Sia has usually worn a wig that obscures her face to protect her privacy. Her seventh studio album, This Is Acting (2016), spawned her first Billboard Hot 100 number one single, "Cheap Thrills". The same year, Sia gave her Nostalgic for the Present Tour, which incorporated dancing by Ziegler and others and other performance art elements. Her eighth studio album, Everyday Is Christmas, was released in 2017 and reissued in 2018 with three bonus tracks. In 2018, she collaborated with Labrinth and Diplo in the group LSD, and they released their self-titled debut album in April 2019.

Sia wrote and directed an upcoming feature film, titled Music. Among the accolades received by Sia are nearly a dozen ARIA Awards, 9 Grammy Award nominations and an MTV Video Music Award.

Biography

Steps are a British dance-pop group consisting of Claire Richards, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer and Ian "H" Watkins. Steps were formed in May 1997 by Tim Byrne, Barry Upton and Steve Crosby and released five studio albums, three compilation albums and seventeen singles. Their music has a 1990s dance-pop sound. Their name was based on a marketing premise: that each of their music videos were to be choreographed, and the dance steps were included in the sleeve with most of their singles.

Steps achieved a series of charting singles between 1997 and 2001 including two number-one singles in the UK (one a double A-side), two number-one albums in the UK, 14 consecutive top 5 singles in the UK and a string of hits throughout Europe. The group has sold over 20 million records worldwide in addition to acquiring a BRIT Award nomination in 1999 for Best Newcomer while supporting Britney Spears on tour the same year. When H & Claire departed, the group disbanded on 26 December 2001. Their penultimate single reached number five in the UK charts while their final album of greatest hits, Gold (2001), was the group's second number-one album in the UK.

Steps reformed in May 2011 for a four-part documentary series on Sky Living titled Steps: Reunion. The series started airing on 28 September, following an announcement of a second greatest hits album, The Ultimate Collection, that was released on 10 October 2011. The album entered the charts at number one, becoming the band's third album to achieve this feat. The second series of Steps: Reunion titled "Steps: On the Road Again" aired on Sky Living in April 2012; the series followed the band as they embarked on their sellout 22-date UK tour. On 24 September 2012, the group confirmed they would release their fourth studio album Light Up The World on 12 November 2012, alongside a six-date Christmas tour, starting from 30 November and ending on 5 December. The group reformed for a second time on 1 January 2017 in celebration of their 20th anniversary, and later announced their fifth studio album Tears on the Dancefloor, which was released in April 2017.

Afternoon all hi.gif I can listen live today for the first time in a while *.*

Retro top 3s:

2019
01. Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus & Lana Del Rey - Don't Call Me Angel
02. Post Malone - Circles
03. AJ Tracey - Ladbroke Grove

'Don't Call Me Angel' became so quickly forgotten sad.gif I still have a lot of time for it! That whole Charlie's Angels project just fell a bit flat for some reason.

2015
01. Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love
02. Justin Bieber - What Do You Mean?
03. Martin Solveig & GTA - Intoxicated

Ahhh the memories! These songs remind me so much of my first time clubbing and then starting University soon after.

2010
01. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
02. Katy B - Katy On A Mission
03. Olly Murs - Please Don't Let Me Go

I was JadeGagaOlly on social media 10 years ago so I obviously wanted Olly at #1 laugh.gif but 10 years later I think 'Teenage Dream' has aged a lot better wub.gif

2005
01. Coldplay - Fix You
02. Mylo vs. Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure
03. Gorillaz - Dare

2005 houses quite a few of my favourite songs of all-time! 'Fix You' is one of those heart.gif

2000
01. Sugababes - Overload
02. Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight)
03. Element 4 - Big Brother Theme

'Overload' is definitely up there with the best girl-group debut singles! Also... 'Big Brother Theme' *.* I thought that was going to be added to Spotify, following the 20 year anniversary programming for the show earlier this year, but that news seems to have gone quiet again now unless I've missed something thinking.gif

By mid-January 2020, "Dance Monkey" had spent its 24th and final week at No.1, beating Bing Crosby's all-time Australian record for his version of "White Christmas", which spent 22 weeks (five months, namely June to October) at the top spot in 1943. "Dance Monkey" was accredited 9× platinum by ARIA for shipments of over 630,000 units. Tones was the most awarded artist at the ARIA Music Awards of 2019, winning four from eight nominations. That Gorgon City track played just before the show was INCREDIBLE! I must add that to my playlist.

Missed the top 40 this week?

David Guetta and Sia
Let's Love

Hopefully this will end up top 40 soon enough, it's had a decent first week all things considered really. Clearly not going to be a big hit though sadly.

OMG YES our queen Tones and I back in the top 40 cheeseblock.png
