However, the FA Cup 3rd round could conceivably still be on the first Saturday in January 2023 as it would be just over two weeks after the final.

What baffles me is that Australia were certainly the perfect host for 2022 - at least they qualify for World Cups and have some of the most famous stadiums in the world. Money talks I guess.

However, I do think that the hosts should be a country with a record of qualifying for a minimum number of recent tournaments. Qatar have never even come close, so they should have been ruled out for that reason.

Even France in 1998 had not qualified for 12 years beforehand! (they are World Cup fixtures though tbf).

That would allow at least part of the Christmas / New Year programme to go ahead. There could be a provision for any clubs with several players involved in the final / 3rd place play-off to postpone one or more games.

What happened with those air-conditioning stadiums that was going to happen in Qatar. Still four and a quarter years later and we still don't know when the tournament will start. Surely if they were going to bid for the tournament they would have requested to FIFA if it was possible to host the tournament in November/December.

Apparently, the USA are considering a bid and its probably North America's turn come 2026. He mentioned Euro 2028 as a possible though.

FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb is amongst those. Also a separate criminal investigation is underway over how the 2018 and 2022 World Cups were allocated. FIFA have ruled out a revote meaning Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 remains. The FIFA presidential vote though will still take place on Friday.

This organisation is corrupt to the core, yet they have clearly fooled themselves in to thinking everything they do is legal! If the Federal Government is on board, then they very rarely press charges without closing the deal.

Apparetly UEFA are threatening not to attend, however that might work in Blatter's favour.

Bad news for them is - HSBC (as usual a British bank is up to it's dirty neck in dodgy money, and as usual the Swiss are central to the organisation of corrupt money laundering) has turned evidence to avoid prosecution, along with a key witness, so this story will run and run and there will be more arrests down the line as and when other countries get involved. Russia, of course, will do it's best to keep the present administration going, ditto Qatar, as they are "beneficiaries" of the current management. I wouldn't want to point the finger. I'll let the US authorities do that....

Again we wait and see the fallout from the events from the past couple of days.

Platini, 63, was head of European football's governing body until being banned in 2015 for ethics breaches. The former France midfielder and three-time Ballon d'Or winner has always denied any wrongdoing. Qatar beat bids from USA, Australia, South Korea and Japan in 2010. Platini is in custody and being questioned in Nanterre, a suburb in western Paris. Officials have been investigating alleged corruption connected to the 2018 and 2022 World Cups for the past two years and were reported to have interviewed Sepp Blatter, the former president of world governing body Fifa, in 2017.
