So this is my debut entry, a gorgeous (if I say so myself!) indie-pop track! Last Lynx are from Stockholm, Sweden so hopefully they'll do for me how well Sweden usually fare in Eurovision! But yes, this triumphed over my other potential, an absolutely dreamy song that Jadakissnia are proud to present to you all.

With a peak of 4th place at one point following a slow start, 'Curtains' managed to eventually settle for 13th place with a points total of 226! Some would call this number unlucky, but for such a large contest, a top 15 placing was a really pleasing result, particularly for a debut.

We received two 18's (from Persephonia and Desbuanda) in the end, and our own 18, Persephonia managed to triumph and win the whole contest! Overall it had been a brilliant experience, and we're chuffed to have the title of highest debut entry for this month. Finally, the silver trophy to take home was the fact we were the joint-2nd most voted for country, tying with none other than Persephonia!

ONUKA - Time



We are proud to present our second entry to BJSC! Not to be confused with Onika Maraj (for any lurking April's!), ONUKA is a project created by Ukrainian electronic musicians Eugene Filatov and Nata, former vocalist of Tomato Jaws (Ukraine) and KOOQLA (Russia). The poignant line in this track is "happiness that we have is so elusive" and is initially what drew me to it in the first place. The distinctive vocals coupled with beautiful production values had me completely sold, this track just builds and builds until the utterly atmospheric final couple of minutes. The visuals are also stunning, which very much helps. We hope that other participating nations will appreciate this track in all of its glorious (almost) six minutes as much as we do!

'Time' proved a very successful follow-up for us, as we managed our FIRST top 10 result, coming in 9th place with 242 points. This also marked a second consecutive top 15 finish after Last Lynx managed a 13th place result last month. 'Time' received a 9th place finish in our respective semi, lower than the 7th last month, but retained that position in the final. We are thrilled with this result, especially amongst such strong competition.

Once again like last month, we received two 18's (from Aeroche and Kylienips) in the end, and Kylienips managed to triumph and win the whole contest! This seems to be a trend, with Persephonia giving us an 18 and also winning. Kylienips received our 15 so we were chuffed with a win for them, especially as it was their first win in 75 contests! Our 18 was courtesy of #00274E and they managed 3rd place, so a very strong top 3. Overall an excellent follow-up contest, with an impressive showing and a lot of favourites excelling also. We've had a blast in Persephonia and very much look forward to BJSC76 with Kylienips!

Anyway onwards to BJSC76 towards the end of June as the mods have something else planned. I'm hoping to send something from the dance genre next.

Denvish narrowly miss out



'Spook' was chosen as our debut entry for BJFestivalen, a spin-off whereby the only limitation is the duration of your song, as it must be below 3 minutes. We knew that we wanted to treat this as a bit of fun, so went back to the childhood archives to find something that was special to us. This song was soundtrack to a level for an old favourite online game, named 'Territory War'. The track is a haunting spooky affair, being simplistic in its repeated content produced by synths and piano, but memorable enough for it to be the one thing I majorly associate with said online game these days. Yes, we went instrumental! It was of course chopped up slightly for duration purposes, so feel free to listen to the full version above.

We were drawn in the Deltävling 3 heat, and unfortunately failed to advance any further, albeit by just ONE place, as we left in a respectable 6th place, amassing 42 points. We'd like to thank anyone who voted for us and are content that this has proved to be a worthwhile discovery for a few of you. Onwards and upwards for BJSC76 in Kylienips!

I didn't enter BJFestivalen, but I do love instrumentals, Children by Robert Miles and Sandstorm by Darude are two of my favourites, Spook is quite a nerve ending track rather tingling and spineless to the touch, really nice, sounds very fresh.

Here we have our third entry to the contest! M+A are an exquisite Italian duo, described as pop-disco. Once again we are going for a foreign act singing a song in English! After hearing their album, 'When' was the track that stuck out the most to me, it's infectious and so feel-good, quite the contrast to our two past entrants. However, now we have a bit of euphoria, featuring a guest RAP and a very tumblr-esque coachella flower girl video ft. a flamingo. What more could you want. Fingers crossed we'll have a third qualifier on our hands!

While we anxiously wait for tomorrow to find out M+A's qualifying fate, on the side our nation have entered our second spin-off! Noughties dance is a bit of a soft spot so there was no doubt that we'd be entering this one! We selected underrated trance beauty 'Something', a no.4 hit in 2002 in the U.K. We felt this was a good choice as it wasn't unknown but wasn't super 'cheap' either, more of a forgotten gem, well for the GBP anyway, I guess some of you can even recall Alexandra Burke B-sides . Hopefully we fare better than in the BJFest spin-off, as we absolutely adore this song.

We're going to Kylienips for the final

Yesterday it was announced that we had QUALIFIED for the BJSC 76 final, despite a bit of unpredictability with all sorts of predictions. This now marks a hat trick of consecutive qualifiers, and on top of this, it's the first time that all four BJSC 74 debutants have made it to the final, with Aprogonia and Cor Lupus advancing to the next round again, as well Flynnonda for the first time! We hope that M+A can give us a decent result with 'When', it is highly unlikely that this will keep up our consecutive top 15 streak, but we look forward to seeing who has taken to it.

All of the tracks voted for by Jadakissnia in the semi advanced to the next round as well, EXCEPT of course our 12 pointer, naturally. Oslol sent the sensational 'Right Now' by Hopium but sadly it failed to catch on. This marks a second time that Oslol have received our 12 points in the semi but haven't quite made it to the next round, with 'Electric Bones' by Findlay in BJSC 74. Gah. Still, we're pleased that quite a few 'underdogs' have made it through that we were cheering on, as well as the more inevitable that we'd pointed.

In other news, Persephonia have expanded their Bré's Baps and Cakes chain to Jadakissnia! We now have two stores in our capital Nadallius, we're sure this will prove a popular attraction with such fine cuisine being served. As well as this, Aquafina have announced a 'Platinum Aquafina' release featuring a few hits in our country ('Runaway (U & I)', 'Somebody Like You', 'Insomnia' and 'Red Lights') and for their promotional tour, they will be coming to Jadakissnia on the 17th of July. Watch out for that!

BJSC 76 RESULTS

M+A // When



Well... we had to flop sooner or later, right? 'When' finished at a disappointing 36th place on a total of 107 points, although we're not TOO gutted as we weren't even sure we would even qualify this time round. Gone is our short-lived top 15 streak, now I guess the challenge is to keep up the qualifying streak.

No 18's this time round but we did manage a 15 from Singerpurear, plus 12's from first time voters for us FSR Rontvia and Usfland! The contest was won by Aquafina with Sigala's 'Easy Love', and while we may not quite get the hype, we are thrilled for the country on getting their first win! Our own favourite 'Girl' by The Internet, sent by Espen, unfortunately finished at 40th, our 15 points for Terra Avium's 'Miracles' by Two Steps From Hell finished at an impressive 12th for something so niche (but beautiful) and then our 13 pointer, firm favourites Persephonia's 'Dope a La Mode' by Audrey Napoleon smashed its way into top five status at 5th! The success of the past two contests did not quite extend to Seventynips, but we hope to be back on form next month in Aquafina! On the side, we have entered 'Something' by Lasgo for BJSC Dance Anthems and hope people appreciate this beauty of a 00s gem. For now it's goodbye Kylienips ~ we hope people have made a good discovery of 'When'!

That's right... Jadakissnia actually won! We felt as a nation that this noughties spin-off would very much be a forté of ours due to such a passion for this decade of music, so it is fantastic to have come out on top in a contest that was SO strong! The contest took place in Aeroche and we of course selected 2002 trance beauty 'Something' by Lasgo, a number 4 hit in the U.K. to represent us, and it looks like a lot of people were feeling our song too. Whilst Hendinia received the most points with 'Perfect (Exceeder)' by Mason vs. Princess Superstar, they suffered a deduction due to late voting, which meant that we won the contest, with a points total of 220! We are feeling rather chuffed right now after failing to advance to the next round of the previous spin-off, BJFest, and coming off a lacklustre performance in the last main contest.

Our 18 points this time were awarded to The Federal Republic of Ashton with Puretone's 'Addicted to Bass' which finished off in 6th, our 15 points went to Terra Avium (much like in the last BJSC!) with Moby's 'Porcelain' finishing in 13th and our 13 points were awarded to Land of Jack with Riva & Dannii Minogue's 'Stringer (Who Do You Love Now?)' ~ finishing in 17th. Amusingly, The Federal Republic of Ashton also awarded us an 18 meaning it was a swap at the top! Sandebörg also awarded us an 18, taking us up to two, the third time we have been awarded two 18s in a contest so far!

Fresh off our spin-off win, we are proud to present our fourth entry to the main contest! While the original plan was to send Koven - 'Get It Right', we unfortunately lost out in the confirmations to Altyr Muunilinst, but oh well, in a way we're not TOO gutted for that will still get exposure to the BJ masses (though it better not win!!11 ) and we get to introduce THIS now as well, our back-up 'Luv w Luv' by Muhsinah. She is Grammy nominated and is based in Washington D.C. (that's right, our first American act!), and this is taken from her latest 4 track EP 'M'. We ADORED both this and another track on there called 'Cut Off' (please do check that out as well) and ultimately decided that this would stand out more. Absolutely hooked on this right now, a playful and infectious electronic treat. Muhsinah's 'Luv w Luv' unfortunately came in 32nd place in our semi, very much far off qualifying.

It's a shame that we could've had a shot this month had we got in there first with our originally planned entry, but at the end of the day we didn't so what's done is done. We're glad that the track managed to amass a few fans and that we got to introduce it to a large audience, just a shame that it didn't quite connect with people the way it did with the Jadakissnian people. Oh well, coming back with a bang and all that next month hopefully!

As for the rest of the results, we sadly lost a huge favourite, with our 10 pointer from N DNTN's utterly captivating entry (Theodora's 'One Foot in the Grave') DNQing and also a new country in Joedonia, nabbing our 1 point with a beautiful song (XYLØ's 'Afterlife') and it sadly following the same fate. As for BJSC 74 debutants watch, Aprogonia and Cor Lupus are flying the flag this month, while Flynnonda also joins us in sitting out.

Well what do you know... we've come off the back of a DNQ in the main contest to a second Spin-Off WINNER! Not just any win though, a strangely paralleled one. For WORLDVISION hosted by Sandebörg, our assigned country of Belgium saw us enter electronic group SOLDOUT's 'To The Ocean' and managed to win with a points total of 205. However, once again like in Dance Anthems, it was by default from non-voters Hendinia AGAIN who pipped us to the post by four points with Girl's Day's 'Ring My Bell', but ultimately were silly to not vote again. We are THRILLED, as it means we've amassed the joint record of most spin-off wins with 2, equalling Aquafina... on our 2nd attempt! We received an 18 from Joedonia this time, marking the third time we have received top points in a Spin-Off. Clearly this is our forté, forget main BJSC.

This contest was a rather bizarre experience to say the least but an utter joy to partake in all the same. Our top points this time round went to Kluminican Republic, with trashy but infectious Ukrainian pick 'Avocado' by Nikita, ultimately finishing with us in the top 5 at 4th! Our 15 points went to Greenfroze with their captivating Lithuanian entry 'Skęstu' by Monkia Linkyté - this finished in 18th place. Finally, our bronze favourite was awarded to returning nation Alteria with their absolute stunner of a song 'Por Baixo de Blusa' by Peixefante, finishing at a waaay too low 35th.

BJSC 78 in Aquafina/Cor Lupus has now come around and we hope to be lifted off our DNQ status from last month. For this contest and our fifth entry, we've gone drum & bass with 'Virtual Paradise' by AK & LYNX ft. Veela. It was a love at first listen situation, as the dreamy production is coupled with Veela's gorgeous vocals. As pointed out to me, it is also a bit of a 'What Goes Around... Comes Around' by JT soundalike in places. While there's not too much info out there on mysterious AK & LYNX, Canadian Veela has quite the presence with her songs and covers spanning years on sharing sites such as YouTube. We hope the semi 1 peeps can take to this, as it's our favourite entry since ONUKA so it would be wonderful to see it progress.

We are happy to announce that we are back in the final after quite the disappointing finish of last month!

Thank you to everyone from semi 1 that voted to advance us further.

Unfortunately we did lose a few favourites in the process - FARC's 'Encore (Boeoes Kaelstigen Remix)' by Ji Nilsson was our 12 and was SO close but just fell at the final hurdle. This marks the third time our 12 has failed to advance, though the first time not by Oslol. A huge loss as it was our favourite FARC entry since Paulini - huge praise indeed. Our second favourite didn't quite get through either! Recently returning country Deandria brought the rather eclectic 'Calm Down' by LOLAWOLF but came 22nd - hmm our top two receiving 21st and 22nd finishes - oops, so close. </3

It didn't end there though - our 6 pointer from Jukanië with Ronnie Flex ft. Mr. Polska's 'Zusje' finished in last place. With 7 points. Oop at me giving it almost entirely all its points - I just don't get this contest sometimes. Lastly Skall, our 2 pointer, didn't quite make it either with 12 minute psychedelic treat 'Alvin Row' by Animal Collective.

Lost a few faves on the way but happy to be back. Bring it on!

BJSC 78 RESULTS

AK & LYNX ft. Veela // Virtual Paradise



Results are in and we are happy to report that not only did we land in the top 10 for the second time, we received a new peak altogether! Spacey D&B explosion 'Virtual Paradise' by AK & LYNX featuring Veela finished in 8th place (with a points tally of 230) - one better than our 9th placing with ONUKA's 'Time'! We didn't quite set a new semi personal best however, as with 72 points we finished 9th in the semi - equalling that of 'Time' but not quite beating the 7th received by 'Curtains'. Still, we're thrilled to come off the back of a DNQ with our best final finish to date! The song had a hefty number of voters (the joint second most with Mulgracia, with 33 voters apiece - trickle point realness) including a few medal positions, with Quintessa providing 'Virtual Paradise' with an 18, Deandria and Jukianië with a 15 and Persephonia, Danaelanda and Taahino with 13 points. Aquafinian hosted contests may not always mean bad luck for us after all - which is also a relief as we're back there AGAIN for a third time in a row next month! Will it be good or bad luck for us next time?

Away from our own country, it was a mixed affair for our favourites this time round! As aforementioned, Aquafina scooped the winning title for the third time in a row - equalling a record set by Aeroche. The continuous record breakers achieved this with fierce jam 'Important' by Mz. 007 - thankfully for us their winners get better and better, as we awarded this one 13 points. Our 15 pointer was awarded to debuting nation Dobago with their Scandinavian football song 'Johnny G (The Guidetti Song)' by Badpojken - which unfortunately saw a disappointing finish of 37th. Still, it was a wondrous discovery and it turned out that way for others too, Hendinia in particular awarding them an 18. Finally, our 18 points this month were awarded to a country who are already becoming firm favourites - Singerpurear. This month they brought 'I Am the Antichrist to You' by Kishi Bashi to the table, an absolutely entrancing beauty. This saw a second consecutive 6th place finish for the country - result!

This month turned out to be a pretty brilliant one for Jadakissnia, thank you to the following countries who voted for us:

So I think this song propelled Veela into my "favorite YouTubers" list due to me liking your entry and everything she's done with Boyinaband (also one of my favorites). They've collaborated several amounts of times just by looking at both of their channels; this happens to be my favorite of theirs so far:

Latest news: BJSC UK Chart Near Misses and Tampergate alterations



The latest spinoff is underway and this time we head to Danaelanda for 'UK Chart Near Misses'. This spinoff entails sending a track that charted between the region of #41-#50 in the U.K. - BEFORE 2013 however. While we had all sorts of options - all-time favourites in there like Florence + the Machine to inane guilty pleasures like Basil Brush, we eventually settled on The Pipettes' 'Judy'. This indie-pop girl group particularly made their mark with highest peaking single 'Pull Shapes' - charting top 40 upon release (at #26), though of course this subsequent release couldn't quite follow suit. Fun and feisty follow-up 'Judy' charted at #46 in late 2006, meaning it didn't quite have the same impact. However, it does make it very much eligible for this spinoff! We look forward to participating now it is in full swing - could we possibly grab a third consecutive win and make spinoff history? We'll see, for now we hope a lot of you enjoy this wonderful song.

In other news, recent revelations dubbed as 'Tampergate' meant that the winner of BJSC 78 - Mz. 007's 'Important' was disqualified. This meant that everything else was pushed up a place, so our entry 'Virtual Paradise' by AK & Lynx ft. Veela in fact finished in 7th place rather than 8th! We have now bettered our previous peak by 2 places, a brilliant result. This meant also that the new winner was Rationale's 'Fuel to the Fire', sent by Mulgracia. This is their second win (albeit, under a different name this time) and we very much look forward to BJSC 79 in their turf! Word on the street is that Jadakissnia are planning to send something rather beautiful this month...

(Oh and we also discovered we are currently Singerpurear's biggest fans - awarding them 45 points to date. Feel free to visit a Jadakissnian outlet to sign up to the Singerpurean fanclub~)

Mulgracia x Jadakissnia for BJSC 79!

This month it was announced in the green room that we would be co-hosting the latest edition of BJSC with winning country Mulgracia! We are very excited as this is under full swing now - as we are currently hosting semi 1! If you're in that semi make sure you're on time and you'll stay in our good books x

Meanwhile, we are in the opposite semi with our 6th offering to the contest!



This month we have entered 'All White Everything' by JJ! The band are no strangers to the contest, having been entered twice before - though before a bit of a capitalisation rebrandage went underway. The group are Swedish, marking our second Swedish entrants now following debutants Last Lynx. We really hope that the BJSC masses can take to our song as we were extremely blown away by this upon first listen. The track opens with such purity - fully stripped back vocals before soon enough the beautiful synths come in. Such a glorious offering from them, and quite the haunting video as well (please feel free to check it out, though it's 2 extra minutes longer and the final portion is replaced by an autotuney thing). Utterly stunning, from aforementioned opening to impactful repetition. We hope to gain a 5th qualifier!

UK Chart Near Misses Spinoff

So we didn't quite replicate our previous two wins at all oops! But instead we got a pretty cool set of numbers to look at, which is totally as good. The Pipettes' 'Judy' came 28th for us with - wait for it - 28 points! Not the best of results but after our recent success we have no reason to be majorly disappointed!

The contest was won by Ultraviolenceland with Ellie Goulding's 'Lights'. We are extremely pleased for the nation as 'Lights' was indeed in our votes. Our 12 went to firm favourites Persephonia with the absolutely enchanting 'Angels' by The xx - an all-time favourite.

Thanks to those who did award us some points (especially FSR Rontvia for that medal position)! Very much appreciated <3

JJ score us a 5th Qualifer!

Bringing you this news just a tad late oops. But anyway, we are proud to announce that we now have a fifth (non-consecutive) qualifier as JJ's 'All White Everything' has made it to the final of BJSC 79! We would like to thank all of our currently anonymous fans and look forward to finding out who you all are when the final results are announced.

Following our own hosting duties as part of 'Mulgracia x Jadakissnia' to announce the semi 1 qualifiers, our own qualification news was shortly revealed afterwards. Mulgracia took charge of semi 2 and it brought about a few surprises and disappointments. While we were thrilled to be through ourselves, for the FOURTH time (out of a possible six so far), we ended up losing our 12 in the semi! The sheer brilliance of debuting nation What's entry 'Justice For Saint Mary' by Diablo Swing Orchestra unfortunately fell short with a placing of 25th (on 40 pts). What weren't the only debuting nation who really brought it for us this edition; St. Burbia entered this contest with LORIS' 'Crazy' and shockingly it wasn't anywhere near close to qualifying - finishing at 30th (on 27 pts). We awarded this entry 7 points in the semi so it was also a huge shame. Finally, the other loss for us in the semi was 2 pointer 'Pakka Sharabi' by Rajveer and Dr Zeus feat. Shortie and Fateh - finishing a bit higher at 28th (on 36 pts). D'yermak'er's recent formula (of the past two contests!) hasn't quite been capturing the BJSC masses it seems but we found this to be a bit of a jam.

So it turned out to be quite a mixed bag with losing our favourite of the entire contest. Ultimately though, we've made it through and are extremely glad about this as 'All White Everything' is already our third favourite entry. We look forward to seeing how it fares in the final. Thank you once again!

Sidenote: It was recently announced (with a side helping of screamer) that we are going to Terra Avium for the latest spinoff. The theme is Halloween and we could not be more excited! We have our entry all sewn up - a bit of witch house that slowly draws you in with creepy spoken intro until the EXPLOSION of greatness then comes in. We look forward to unleashing it all on you and seeing what everyone has sent, however tenuous the link may be. Hopefully this is our chance to properly fly the spooky flag after Denvish's DNQ in BJFestivalen.

BJSC 79 a.k.a the contest of 'Mulgracia x Jadakissnia' has now come to a close. Our entry, JJ's 'All White Everything', finished in an unremarkable 26th place with a points total of 175. This was a tad disappointing due to the top 10/20 predictions that we received, though our semi showing was quite iconic with 69 points (an 11th place showing). Still, we did achieve the most 18s for one of our entries in a final to date as we received three of those. Thank you very much to Cumulonimbia, Quintessa (our second 18 from them in a row!) and first-time voters in style Utopia. While we received a lot of 1s, our song did seem to be getting mostly large points from the votes we did get, so we're glad that this appealed in a big way to some. A fifth qualifier was great in itself and we've had two worse finishes so we will be thankful for this.

Aeroche were crowned the winners of the contest, with their entry 'Heaven' by Shaun Frank & KSHMR featuring Delaney Jane. Due to our co-hosting duties we already knew that the track was just one point off winning the semi so were not surprised at all to see this result. A huge congrats to the nation, we very much look forward to BJSC 80 if the Dance Anthems hosting was anything to go by! While we didn't point this song, it was generally a very pleasing result for our favourites! This time round the coveted 18 points were handed to the consistently brilliant Persephonia, with their very much in season 'Waves' by DANCE WITH THE DEAD. This marks the first time that we've awarded our full 18 to a nation more than once after winner 'Habib Galbi' by A-WA. 'Waves' finished 3rd in the contest which is a fabulous result for an instrumental and especially one as good as this. Our 15 points then went to the haunting 'Resonate' by Avec Sans, sent by our current superfans (of the past two contests) Quintessa! This stormed its way to just one position behind 'Waves' in 4th! See, a great showing for our faves making up for losing out on our semi final favourite. Quintessa weren't the only medal position that we'd pointed for the first time, as Tartford gained our bronze position! Grabbing those first Jadakissnia points in style. The country sent Son Lux's sensational 'You Don't Know Me' and rightfully received their best finish to date with a placing of 17th! Great stuff all round.

Wishing I gave 'Blood Blood Blood' a few more listens before voting, due to unfortunate timings I'd only heard your song once when I sent my votes whereas I'd heard everything else at least 2/3 times! BJSC 80 entry announced



After much deliberation, this month we have settled on 'Unzip Your Skin' by Stranger Cat as our entry for BJSC 80. The project consists of American Cat Martino and Sven Britt, marking our second entry from the U.S. following Muhsinah. The origin of the group's name is pretty cool: "Often a cat would come to the sliding glass door to listen, meowing to be let in. When it appeared daily they called it Stranger Cat, and observed its alien supernatural powers, as she’d heard tell of the Foothills’ long history of UFO sightings and ghost haunts. One day they let Stranger Cat in. The plump feline ate all the kitty food and left." Iconic. Almost as iconic as the song itself~ It's very us, dripping in gorgeous synthy goodness and accompanied by rather brilliant vocals too. We hope those drawn into semi 1 enjoy our song and that we can possibly get a 6th qualifier out of it!

Surprise spinoff smash for Unison!



We recently learned of our fate in the BJSC Halloween spinoff in Terra Avium, where for only one month we were rebranded Jadakillnia. However, to our surprise it was a positive fate! After a lukewarm initial response, a prediction of 38th was conjured up. However, to everyone's surprise we actually finished in 7th place with an iconic 169 points total! French witch house duo Unison provided our entry with 'Blood Blood Blood', and we are thrilled to see it surpassing our expectations and then some! This now marks our third top 10 spinoff finish out of a possible four, following two Belgian winners in Lasgo and SOLDOUT. Another huge surprise was receiving an 18 from FARC/DARC after never receiving points of any capacity from the nation previously! We are completely chuffed with the result in such a strong spinoff.

Our 18 was awarded to the magnificent 'Tubular Bells' by Mike Oldfield, sent by D'yermacabre. The BJSC masses had great taste on this occasion as Mike Oldfield was actually crowned the winner of the spinoff! This was generally a triumph for our favourites; 15 points were awarded to Hushkaspookia (James Newton Howard/Jennifer Lawrence - 'The Hanging Tree') in 3rd place and 13 points to Danaelantern (Brainbug - 'Nightmare (Sinister Strings Radio Edit)' which finished in 10th. Other favourites from the likes of Percemetery and DARC also smashed their way to the upper tier, so we're thrilled on the whole!

This was a genius idea for a spinoff, and we hope to see it back next year.

BJSC 80 RESULTS

'UNZIP YOUR SKIN' A STRANGER TO THE FINAL



It is official, we have ended the year with five qualifications. Unfortunately, it was announced last night in Aeroche that we had failed to make it to a BJSC final for a second time (following Muhsinah in BJSC 77), coming 24th in semi 1 with 42 points. Frustratingly however we were only a few points off qualifying! Our entry 'Unzip Your Skin' by Stranger Cat has broken our two-song qualification streak, though gives us a second eligible entrant for next months 'Rejects' contest; it will probably have a much better shot than 'Luv w Luv' of actually doing something though due to finishing quite a bit higher than that. We'd like to thank anyone who pointed us!

I guess we could've let the DNQ slide as we had a feeling in the waters on the night, but it turned out to be a bit of a shambles on the whole. Unfortunately we lost our 12 pointer for a fifth time (out of a possible seven!) so please don't send something that'll appeal to us in a big way for it is usually a curse. This 12 pointer in question was Pupok's best entry to date: 'Slow Dancing' by Schulkid ft. Valair. We assumed it would be a safe qualifier, especially being tipped with top 10 predictions! A huge shame to see it crash out at 26th. However, things didn't end there as of course we only went and lost our 10 pointer as well. Skall sent the very infectious 'Farewell G41' by Stephen Lopkin and it finished in 22nd - just one point off qualifying! I suppose it's a pretty good result as we presumed it would be even lower. We lose a couple of dance standouts in a very dance-heavy contest, but also a bit of swag brought by no strangers to our points Persephonia. They received the coveted 1 point with Yung Lean's 'Kyoto', finishing in 27th place. We groan at all you BJSC voters but remain happy at the silver lining of our semi two favourites making it through.

So I guess we'll see you at Rejects/The Best Of! We currently have something pretty special lined up for January - an almost 7 minute long spooky dance/classical fused banger that we cannot WAIT to unleash on you all (why does there have to be a break :'() See you all soon~

Wow Jade, I'm kind of blown away by the thought that's gone into those commentaries considering they're for your 91-100! Excellent start, both in terms of the music and otherwise. I'll be sure to check out what's to come and hope 'Can't Have' is among them!

The essays!! Oh gosh Jade that's fantastic already, I can't wait to see what'll come. I'm not even sure I'll have essays to match those this year (although I haven't started yet so we'll see)

Indeed, love the commentaries, and some great choices so far, particularly with 'Highland', 'Happiness', 'Heaven Sent' and 'You' and then there's one of my own entries getting the special treatment <3

I'm really glad I got around to finally sending that, particularly as it seems to be a highlight of my year for some people. I know Cassadee more as the lead singer of pop-punk (read: Paramore-esque) band Hey Monday, who only put out one album back in 2008 (I've actually disowned most of her post-Voice work as it's not very good ) and with that in mind the genre is probably less of a surprise but still I See Stars are another thing again and I wouldn't normally send things from them either as their normal stuff is a bit too hardcore electronicore for BJSC. But this one song is a fantastic happy medium. Really glad it's grown on you.

Rejects Success, Scottish Christmas and a Secret Surprise

Quick note to say thank you to all who voted for Stranger Cat in the opening round of Rejects! Muhsinah expectedly crashed out with just 5 points, but thankfully 'Unzip Your Skin' won enough over to give us a first ever taste of making it past the first Rejects round. I was generally happy with the outcome elsewhere, with all of my DNQ 12 pointers getting justice here! So yes, thank you and please vote Stranger Cat in the semi it has been drawn in as well!

Elsewhere, the Christmas spinoff has arrived! It is being hosted in Ultraviolenceland but excitingly we (alongside business partners Hushkanukia) will be part of the veto panel successfully trialled in the Halloween spinoff. Our own entry for the contest has been described as 'A Scottish version of The Pogues' by one commenter, which we sorta get but yes the Scottish vibes are very strong. Also the production is v nice and wintery.

Also, our EOY countdown will resume tomorrow! Unfortunately I didn't get round to finishing today's section so tomorrow it is. We have also been putting something else together over the past couple of months in free time that I will post after that has concluded. Thanks to all who have followed/participated in discussion so far! Also to those who have included us in EOYs, it means a lot to see other people appreciating songs that we are very passionate about. Yay!

The BJSC Christmas spinoff is under full swing now! Our own entry has been revealed as 'A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss)' by Glasvegas. I instantly fell in love with this and I hope a lot of you do too. The gorgeous twinkly production throughout put me in a very Christmassy mood and the the iconic heavy Scottish accent works well alongside, very emotive. We hope you all enjoy! In a sea of Shrek, Basil Brush and Mr Showbiz who knows what could happen.

Yay Jade! I still can't thank you and Bre enough for the support on Love Mera Very unexpected qualifier, but very happy bout it!

My secret is no secret - in the early days I used to pick old flop faves or current dance chart acts that caught my attention, trying to make each entry a bit different from previous ones. Then I decided to go for stuff that was new to me too and started randomly youtubing using odd words to see where I ended up. It's like a long chain of "you might like these" songs for each one that looked interesting that I click on, I just keep going till I find one that makes me go "oh wow! I'm buying THAT immediately!"

Plus I love Bollywood and various Asian music anyway, kinda grew up around it in cultural Melting Pot Singapore

You may remember a while back that I said I was going to post something special after I'd finished my EOY, but I decided that I'm just going to upload it now before the year's out! (My EOY will be finished very soon, apologies about that.) But YES anyway, I am a bit of a dork who loves creating random things - whether that be drawings or videos. So back in September I was just mucking about on iMovie with this and thought it'd be a bit of fun to create a video montage of all my entries to send Jadakissnia's first year of BJSC out in style! I hope you enjoy, it was very fun to put together! (Apols for the writing of Glasvegas' vid being different, the text I used for all the other ones would not co-operate for that)


Also in other news - thank you so much to everyone who voted for Glasvegas' 'A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss)' in the BJSC Christmas spinoff! It finished in a fantastic 5th place, giving us our third spinoff top 5 and fourth top 10! It was a shame I wasn't able to follow it live but I really do appreciate all the points! Sonia y Selena - 'Yo Quiero Bailar'



Here we have the first Jadakissnian entry of 2016! We have somewhat taken the 'new year new me' approach by ditching our rather synthy 'vague' sound for now and entering the year with this fun Spanish banger. Sonia y Selena took this song to 9th place in the Spanish Eurovision National Final in 2001, which is rather ridiculous as it is a bop of immense proportions that obviously should have won. I had known and loved this song for years due to actually hearing this in Spain during many annual holidays there, but never had it considered for the contest. After the suggestion by two fellow nations to enter it, it suddenly felt so right to kick off the year in this way. So so so feel good - we hope you semi 2 people enjoy and vote for this!

I'm always in favour of a Spanish Bop, the latin rhythms just make me wanna dance and it's a style that I'm comfortable giving it a go to - obviously after a couple of drinks on holiday in a video club, when I appear to myself to be dancing like a cool demon The more drink the madder I dance. Sonia y Selena land us a Spanishy Sixth qualifier!

It was very recently announced in Kluminican Republic that we are BACK in a BJSC final! Our 2016 has started with a bang as Sonia y Selena's euphoric 'Yo Quiero Bailar' received enough votes in semi 2 to qualify. We are absolutely over the moon to be back after Stranger Cat's unfortunate DNQ in BJSC 80. Mixed predictions left us feeling a little unsure so it was fantastic that we could make it. We thank anyone who voted for us!

Elsewhere we are glad to report that this wasn't the sixth occasion of our semi 12 pointer slipping away. However, we did still lose a few essentials. The first of these was courtesy of Terra Avium with 'Woman's Work' by U.S. Girls. This haunting seven minute treat was awarded 10 points by us and ultimately finished in 27th with 40 points. Avalonia's 'Waiting For Godot' by Janina Gavankar was pretty high in our affections as well as they received 6 points. Unfortunately, this rather standout entry was quite far off making it with a 28th placing on 32 points. Debuting nation Suedeonia caught our attention with In Hoodies' 'Healing' as it took home 5 of our points. This one finished in 26th with 40 points. Finally, a singular point was awarded to poor poor Usfland who just cannot seem to catch a break lately. Their entry was Chromatics' 'White Light' and sadly finished dead last with 16 points.

Cheers once again to all that hopped aboard the Spanishy train this month for us We look forward to seeing how we fare in the final.

We are thrilled to announced that 2016 has started with a bang in Jadakissnia! Embracing our partially Spanish roots paid off as Sonia y Selena bagged us a 3rd top 10 hit in a main contest! They finished in 8th place with a points total of 242, matching our highest points ever received with ONUKA's 'Time'. This 8th place strung our previous 7th (AK & LYNX ft. Veela) and 9th (ONUKA) placed finishes together! It was also revealed that 'Yo Quiero Bailar' finished 11th in its semi with 73 points. It was great to see the success of this. We were getting DNQ predictions but safely qualified AND for a while we were 1st in the final! I do love a good shock result. We received no 18s but we did however hoover up multiple 15s and had 8 new voters so we are very happy for this love! Thank you to all of those who voted.

This edition was won by Deandria with Allie X's 'Sanctuary'. We awarded the song 8 points so we were satisfied with this winner, although it probably wasn't the most exciting of the contenders. Still, a great song and we look forward to heading to Danaelanda next month after the winners passed on the baton. As for our own absolute favourites, it was good news indeed! Cumulonimbia scooped up our first 18 of the year with the stunning 'Two Hearts' by NZCA Lines. This had a pleasing finish of 14th place. Our 15 pointer did even better. What wowed us again, this time with Kontrust's 'Sock 'N' Doll' which finished one place above us in 7th! Our sensual 13 pointer 'Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix)' by Imany went even further and bagged a top 5 placing in 5th! Other top 10 finishers Persephonia and N DNTN made it into our votes too, so a great result for ourselves and our favourites.

BLVCK CEILING - 'WVFFLIFE (CHVRN Remix)'



Here is a bit of a switch-up from last month for you all. For BJSC 82 in Danaelanda we have chosen the HUGE CHVRN remix of 'WVFFLIFE'. I came across the original and felt that this remix just elevated it so much. Chilling, exciting, atmospheric... I'm just IN LOVE with this entry and hope others feel the same. This witch house / witch trap song is my 9th entry to the contest. BLVCK CEILING aka Daniel Cuccia is from the U.S. and remixer CHVRN is Russian. I'm not entirely sure how to pronounce some of these words, but hey, when the song is so great who really cares about that. We hope that you semi 1 people will be on board!

Agnes - Release Me



A 'BJ10' contest was ran to commemorate 10 years of BuzzJack. The aim was to send something that you thought represented the website in some way. Jadakissnia went with former BJSC winner and universally loved 'Release Me' by Agnes. This was a decision that paid off as we WON! While Gaga or Robyn were the most 'expected' winners, it was Agnes who took the crown with 325 points. This is the first time we've ever had over 300 points and by far the highest points total we've ever received for an entry. As this is not going to count towards stats, it unfortunately deprives us from having the '3 spinoff wins' record and leaves us instead still in joint first with Aquafina. We are absolutely delighted with this win and would just like to thank anyone who voted Jadakissnia.

BLVCK CEILING - WVFFLIFE (CHVRN Remix)



We decided to go down the witch house/trap route for our last main contest entry. And boy did it pay off! 'WVFFLIFE (CHVRN Remix)' gave us our highest main contest finish to date! This entry finished in 6th place (with 262 points), beating a previous best of 7th that was held by AK & LYNX ft. Veela - 'Virtual Paradise'. We were thrilled that this went down so well as we are obsessed with it. This 6th place finish, following an 8th place finish for Sonia & Selena in January, makes us the only nation to have two top 10s in 2016 so far! This change up in sound seems to be doing a world of good so far, and we appreciate that it's going down well. Much love to all of those that got behind this.

Samantha Ronson - Built This Way



For BJSC Movies I decided to select something from one of my favourite films of all time. 'Built This Way' and its nostalgic instrumental comes from 2004 hit Mean Girls. This entry ended up coming 19th for us (with 122 points). This gave Jadakissnia a 5th top 20 spinoff result. We thank any Mean Girls/Samantha fans who took to this entry!

Congrats on the fabulous results with Agnes and BLVCK CEILING <3 Should have been top 5 x although tbh 'Tequila' has grown on me so much now that I'm now no longer bitter at it keeping u out, you'll get a top 5 very soon x at least it was a new peak again! And Agnes was definitely my preferred one of the big UK hits / universally loved already songs so basically the best realistically possible winner!

VHS Glitch - 'Blood In Blood Out'



We are back after a month's break with another new exciting direction for 2016. Our last entry didn't have an awful lot of vocals in it but this is the first time we've gone fully instrumental! 'Blood In Blood Out' is a glorious synthwave instrumental that takes you straight back to the 80s. There are little twists and turns throughout the 5 minutes that make it an exciting listen despite the length. I fell in love with this straight away, it took 3 times to confirm something this month but we got there in the end once we'd heard this. VHS Glitch also marks a new nationality for one of our entrants. VHS Glitch seems to be quite secretive of his(?) whereabouts on his social media/soundcloud (Location on FB: Technology, and on Twitter: The Internet, lmao) but the VHS Glitch Bandcamp page says 'Japan' so hooray at more diversity for us. OH AND IT'S OUR 10TH ENTRY *.* We hope you semi 1 people enjoy!

It was announced after a NAIL-BITING wait that we will be in the final of BJSC 83 in Ethanola! Synthwave instrumental 'Blood In Blood Out' by VHS Glitch survived the cull and is our 8th qualifier to date, and our 3rd consecutive qualifier. This good news saw Jadakissnian folk partying all around the country for our 10th contest celebrations. The Jadakissnian brothel in Hushkanukia is even currently draped in neon '10' signs as a mark of celebration. We would like to thank all our supporters in semi 1 and look forward to seeing how our song fares in the final!

Meanwhile, it couldn't be all good news as we had to say adios to a few favourites. Our most notable loss was Pagasa's 'Florida' by The Range as we gave this entry 10 points. Pagasa are really making their mark for us, as their debut entry back in February was a firm favourite also. It's a shame this couldn't qualify a la 'The Greatest' but at least we've found a brilliant discovery out of it. Elsewhere, Medhelnia made their debut that didn't quite make it with 'Faded' by Kallay-Saunders Band. A very solid debut this was as we gave it 6 points. Utopia made a return with 'Sour Candy' by Bleached but unfortunately did not vote, meaning we lost our 3 pointer. Finally, it was so close for Suedeonia but they didn't quite do enough to make it with our 1 pointer, the quirky 'Birdland' by Weather Report.

It was also announced that Jadakissnia are currently THIRD in the YTD with two consecutive top 10 hits! Sonia & Selena, BLVCK CEILING and CHVRN all raised a glass to a year of newfound success.

VHS Glitch - Blood In Blood Out



VHS Glitch unfortunately failed to keep up our short lived top 10 streak by quite some distance. The synthwave track finished in 35th for us with a points total of 135. The 35/135 thing is pretty cool but it was a disappointing result for our 10th contest. However, we did prove to have some pretty big fans in the mix which is always rewarding. Suedeonia in particular gave us an 18 which we did not see coming! It was also revealed that we came 15th in the semi final with 55 points. Definitely a case of the correct semi. We'd like to thank anybody who pointed us throughout the contest!

Yehesi were ultimately crowned the winners of this contest in Ethanola and just missed out on our points. As for our own favourites, Syndare took our 18 (first time points for them in style!) with DJDS' 'In The Flames' - this ended up in 28th. Séyetana received their highest points from us to date with a 15 for catchy German track 'Tanz Mit Mir' by Faun & Santiano. This returned them back to the top 10 as they scraped in at 10th! No strangers to our points Persephonia grabbed our bronze medal for the very swag 'C.U.R.E' by BOOTS. This ultimately finished in 25th.

WORLDVISION II

Finland: Epelit - Flippaa & kriippaa



It was recently revealed what our entry for round 2 of Worldvision would be in Hushkanukia! We were of course drawn Finland and went down many different routes (many 'cat alarms' along the way) until we finally found the song that felt like THE one. Epelit's 'Flippaa & krippaa' is a rap/hip-hop song, marking some more new genres that Jadakissnia have dipped into. What drew me to this was how catchy the chorus is and also that super slick production. You can watch the video above, heavily featuring guys in a car (cars seem to be a recurring theme in the videos of this spinoff!) - however, one niggle is that the song abruptly ends early and has a portion of silence. So we shall also provide the full audio for you below sans this:

Perturbator - 'Sentient'



We have retained the 80s sound of last month but the vocals are back! For BJSC 84 we have chosen the wondrous 'Sentient' by French producer Perturbator featuring vocals from Hayley Stewart. The almost-six minute affair is a gripping one that slowly builds to that dramatic memorable chorus. It's all rather epic and is beautifully accompanied by synths. We can't get enough of this song and the marvellous pixelated video. Although beware kids, it is a bit lewd in places. We hope that semi 2 people will take to this!

Oh and also I found another song by Perturbator that I loved, but we did the whole synthwave instrumental thing last month so it would've been a bit samey. Here it is anyway:

BJSC 84 final here we come!

It was announced today in Cadelicia that we have made it to the final with 'Sentient' by Perturbator featuring Hayley Stewart. We were spared the suspense unlike last month as we were announced through first! We are delighted with this qualification as it now means we have our longest Q streak to date! Thanks to back-to-back qualifiers with Sonia & Selena, BLVCK CEILING, VHS Glitch and Perturbator, we've gone one up on our previous highest streak of 3 which we had twice (with Last Lynx/ONUKA/M+A as well). Hooray! Thanks to anyone who voted for us and we shall see you in the final.

Meanwhile we had to say goodbye to a few favourites. Thankfully we didn't lose our 12 or 10 which was becoming all too common recently. But we did lose three songs that we voted for outside this region. We awarded 8 points to Cor Lupus - one of our favourite entries from them to date which stood out in the semi. 'Stockholm' by Atlas Genius finished in 24th with 41 points. Next Deandria brought something weird and wonderful once again with the Hungarian 'Álmatlan' by Anna and the Barbies. This sadly crashed out in 27th with 23 points. Lastly Skall came so close in 22nd with 'Desmond's Empire' by O'Flynn but 41 points wasn't quite enough to qualify. What we also didn't approve of was Jadaphonia not going through together </3. An unfortunate first where Jadakissnia have been the only one to go through of the two. Hopefully both of us will be coming back strong next month!

We shall see you guys in the final of BJSC 84! But before that, Epelit's fate will be announced in Worldvision II tomorrow.

Worldvision II Results

Epelit - Flippaa & Kriippaa



The results of the 2nd round of Worldvision were announced in Hushkanukia today. Sadly we took quite the step down from our win in the first Worldvision with SOLDOUT as Epelit came 29th with 65 points. This is our worst placing in a spinoff to date, though not quite our worst points-wise at least as 'Judy' only managed 28 points in 28th. Finnish male rap wasn't exactly going to set the competition alight anyway so it was mostly pleasing to see that we had quite a few big fans! Especially Persephonia who gave us 15 points.

Meanwhile, Unovia won the contest with Elisa's 'No Hero'. Our favourites did quite well as our 18 Cadelicia (Saad Lamjarred - Lm3allem) came 14th, our 15 Danaelanda (Arston - Light) finished in 9th and our 13 Skall (Legowelt - Experiential Awakening) came in 6th! In the top 10 we also voted for Hushkanukia, Persephonia, Pupok, Quintessa and Deandria so we were pleased on the whole.

Also - it wouldn't be a spinoff without Hendinia allowing me to finish above them after deduction! They finished one place below us at 30th.

BJSC 84 Results

Perturbator ft. Hayley Stewart - Sentient



The BJSC final results took place in Cadelicia last night, revealing where we had placed. Our entry 'Sentient' by French producer Perturbator featuring vox from Canadian Hayley Stewart finished in 25th with 145 points. We are happy with this as our goal was to beat last month's finish of 35th. We beat this position by 10 places and also by 10 points! Finishing in 25th also meant that Jadaphonia had back-to-back 25th place results (with 'C.U.R.E' finishing there last month for Persephonia), the second time we've had back-to-back finishes of the same position after we both came 36th in BJSC 76/77. 'Sentient' picked up quite a few big fans - in particular we received 15s from #00274E, Deandria and Quintessa and a 13 from Suedeonia! We are glad that this was such a worthwhile discovery for some of you.

FARC were crowned the winners with a landslide win of 465 points, beating Allie X as the entry that has received the most points this year. We awarded their entry 'Save It' by Salt Ashes with 8 points, in fact the same amount we gave to Allie X. Elsewhere, our 18 points this month went to Aeroche with Polyna's euphoric dance track 'Angel', which had a strong showing in 4th place. Our 15 points went to Terra Avium's gorgeous piano instrumental 'Hiatus' by Precious Little, a former potential for us. This was the best surprise of the night for us, as the song finished in 10th! A fantastic result. Finally, our 13 was awarded to Desbuanda's #paellaprodux / #fritatafierceness jam 'XXX ANGEL DUST XXX' by LSDXOXO which finished a couple of places below us at 27th.

OVERWERK - Toccata



We have entered the world of dance for BJSC 85. OVERWERK is a Canadian producer, our first lead Canadian artist sent to the competition. We have entered almost 7 minute long 'Toccata' to the contest, our longest entry to date. It's a thrilling spoopy instrumental journey. From the 3 minute mark onwards you can hear production that is reminiscent of Deadmau5's 'Ghosts N Stuff' which also made us love it even more. Then it still continues to develop almost 5 minutes in. We hope the people of semi 1 get on board with this banger!

Our fate was revealed in an extremely nerve-wracking fashion in Aeroche tonight. We were announced LAST in a nail-biting Jadakissnia v Dobago battle for that final spot and we came out on top! Quite the contrast after being announced first last month. We are thrilled to have qualified again - meaning we have done so in every 2016 contest and now have a qualification streak of 5! Thanks to all that voted for/appreciated our entry in the semis, the final here we come!

Meanwhile, it was mixed feelings for the rest of our favourites. It was great on one hand that 9/10 of our votes qualified. BUT the one song we did lose was a huge loss! We gave 10 points to Mulgracia's 'Chasing Shadows' by Angels & Airwaves, a captivating space rock song featuring vocals from former Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge. This crashed out at 29th with 21 points, meaning we gave it almost half its points. A huge shame!

Time to now head off to Unovia for the final! Will we do better than our previous two results with some more promising predictions this time? only time will tell~

random.org finds a way to make you nervous about the most clear results sometimes! I'm sure this must have been a very safe qualifier but was definitely getting a bit tense near the end ~ (then again, I'd have said the exact same thing about the Harmonica vs. Land of DW battle and that went the complete opposite way to how I expected so can never take anything for granted in this crazy contest ;o)

BJSC 85 Results

OVERWERK - Toccata



The BJSC 85 final results took place in Unovia last night, a tense affair with the scoreboards being hidden towards the end of proceedings. It was a fabulous night for Jadakissnia when the final scoreboard was unveiled. Our spoopy dance entry 'Toccata' by OVERWERK finished in 8th place with 209 points, losing out on a tiebreak to Aeroche. This is our 5th top 10 finish overall (making half our final finishes top 10s!) and 3rd top 10 finish this year! This is also the first time we've repeated a final position as we came 8th earlier in the year also with Sonia & Selena's 'Yo Quiero Bailar'. It was also later revealed that we came 11th in our semi final with 71 points. We'd like to thank all of those who pointed us last night! Especially the following who we received a medal position from: Ethanola, Land of DW and Terra Avium (18 points), Botanikka and FSR Rontvia (15 points) + Kylienips (13 points).

Beaverdonia were crowned the winners last night with their Greek bop 'Aide' by Bang La Decks, which received a score of 333. We gave 'Aide' 2 points so Jadakissnians approved of this winner. As for our own absolute favourites, our 18 went to FKA Pi's thrilling '$ORO' by LUH which finished 26th after deduction. This would have bagged them another top 10 and pushed us down a place if it were not for deduction. Our 15 went to Skall's 'JUST' by Bicep which finished in 21st. The best finisher in our medal positions was our bronze - Ethanola's 'I Waited For You' by Billie Black, which finished in 19th.

Tuna - Seret Aravi



This month we appropriately unleash a bit of mad fun to Beaverdonia hosted BJSC 86. 'Seret Aravi' is my first Israeli entry, it's predominantly in Hebrew but apparently also has some Arabic phrasing in it. Oh and there's an iconic English Middle 8 including lines such as 'Beyoncé can you handle this?' and 'I am the king of the Middle East' *.* Again this is something a bit different for us and I was swept up in the fun of it when hearing. It's very catchy and the production of it is pretty cool. The middle 8/final chorus duo is the definite highlight. We hope those in semi 2 enjoy our entry!

It was announced in the Federal Republic of Ashton that sadly we DNQed on this occasion. Tuna's 'Seret Aravi' finished in 26th place in semi 2, with 27 points. This is our second worst finish ever, after BJSC 77's 'Luv w Luv' by Muhsinah which received just 14 points. Our longest Q streak of 5 is now sadly in tatters as we sit by the sidelines at the final in Beaverdonia.

Meanwhile, thankfully our favourite song of the semi went through even if we couldn't. We did lose two songs we voted for though - our 10 pointer courtesy of Skall with 'Woolloomooloo' by Dave DK and 7 pointer Aelandor's 'Above The Clouds Of Pompeii'. Both were so close but didn't quite make it.

Reinvention

CROSSPARTY - Midnight City (vs M83)



While we sit out of the final, there's still a chance to vote for us in the latest spinoff! 'Reinvention' (jointly hosted by Taahino and Pupok) requires the sending of a not already famous reworking of a song. We decided to go down the spooky route as we have sent a witch house remix of low top 40 hit 'Midnight City' by M83. The reworking takes the famous instrumental of the song and makes it so much darker.

CROSSPARTY - Midnight City (vs M83)



Last night the results for the latest spinoff 'Reinvention' (hosted by Pupok and Taahino) were announced! We took part with a spooky witch house reinvention of M83's 'Midnight City', with CROSSPARTY behind this reworking. A new vote reveal system was trialled (like the one used in the Eurovision 2016 final) whereby votes were individually revealed, until the final 15 votes which were combined for a dramatic reveal. All was looking pretty bad for Jadakissnia, flopping in last place with just 07 points (Persephonia were our saviours but sadly didn't lift us off last for too long) until the combined votes came in. The 'dream crusher' as it was dubbed was tense and confusing for us, because batches kept going by without us being revealed! Finally we were revealed and had somehow amassed 71 points from the last 15 voters, taking us to 78 points in total and finishing 27th overall. We finished top 10 in the dream crusher, just call us the new Poland tbh. The goal was to escape bottom 5 and after things looking so bleak at the start, we will very much take 27th! We have now finished in 27th, 28th and 29th in spinoffs so we can join those up, something to salvage from this eh! The spreadsheet revealed that we had quite a lot of big fans rather than lots of mealworm points! We received two medal positions - with 15 points from Suedeonia and 13 points from Ethanola.

Unovia ended up winning the whole thing with Delta Goodrem's take on The Darkness' modern classic 'I Believe In a Thing Called Love', a huge congrats to them. With this being their second spinoff win, they now tie Aquafina and ourselves for the most spinoff wins record! Elsewhere, it was a good night for our favourites. Our 18 went to Deandria with Owsey & Resotone's gorgeous 'Broke My Promise & Stared To The Sea', which finished in 5th place with 181 points. Our 15 went to the gloriously 80s 'What Do You Mean It's 1985?' by Justin Bieber, which finished in 13th with 207 points (post-deduction, as N DNTN did not vote!) Finally, our bronze was given to Séyetana with the energy fuelled 'Where Is The Love (Nightcore Club Mix)' by Baracuda. This finished as high as 4th, with 188 points! N DNTN would have finished 3rd before deduction, so had they voted, our top 3 would have been those finishing in 3rd, 4th and 5th! Yay for this joining up of numbers.

Thank gawdd this did pick up a bit at the end! It's not exactly my fave of the songs you've entered (though it did grow on me a lot) but it certainly didn't deserve anywhere near last place out of that lot. And at least you beat Pupok. x

BJSC 87
FM-84 - Arcade Summer



The dually hosted BJSC 87 has arrived, with last month's winners Pupok teaming up with Yehesi to do the honours! We have been drawn in the Yehesi hosted semi 2 with 'Arcade Summer' by FM-84. This is another departure from our usually moody and spooky sound of late, as this song is a joyous and summery one! What better time to send it than at the height of summer. 'Arcade Summer' returns us to sending an instrumental, this time a dreamwave instrumental that is pretty 80s-sounding and wouldn't look out of place on a video game soundtrack. FM-84 resides in the US, bringing our total of US main contest acts to 5. Fingers crossed that 'Arcade Summer' can kick off our Q streak again!

FM-84 in the final of BJSC-87!

A couple of nights ago, it was announced in Yehesi that we had made it through semi 2 with dreamwave instrumental 'Arcade Summer' by FM-84! We can now ride that road to redemption and start a new qualifying streak, following the DNQ for Tuna last month. Our place in the final of BJSC 87, which will take place in Pupok, means that we have now had 11 qualifiers out of a possible 14.

While we had some pretty good news to take home, the worst news of the entire night for us was that Terra Avium DNQed in the opposite semi with 'Le port du masque est de rigueur' by Essaie Pas. The Kraftwerk soundalike sadly went out in a disappointing 29th place. In our own semi, we thankfully kept our top two but had to say goodbye to 8 pointer 'Invisible' by KEYS&CAGES. This song was sent by Aeyundoré and was the first time that we had given points to this country. Other songs that failed to make it through that we pointed were: addictive instrumental 5 pointer 'Nautilus' by Anna Meredith sent by Trifoski, 3 pointer courtesy of debuting country bubblelands with 'Orion' by T-Ha ft. Issue, uncharacteristically short song and our 2 pointer 'ÆØÅ (Size Matters)' by Kollektivet sent by Skall and finally a bit of a guilty pleasure 1 pointer in the form of 'Werk Like Beyoncé' by Espen, sent by Sandebörg.

BJSC 87 Results
FM-84 - Arcade Summer



This month we unexpectedly have a LOT of good news to bring home! At the BJSC 87 final last night in Pupok, it was announced that our entry 'Arcade Summer' by FM-84 finished in 9th place with 227 points! This was a complete shock as no-one had predicted us higher than 18th! This is now our fourth top 10 of 2016 and sixth top 10 overall. Though it was not a unique position as we previously came 9th with ONUKA's 'Time' in BJSC 75 (our first ever top 10 hit). Elsewhere, we set a couple of personal bests! It was revealed that we came 6th in semi 2 with 96 points, and this is our best ever semi finish in terms of both position and points! As our best previously was 7th and 86 points with BLVCK CEILING in BJSC 82 (though Last Lynx also came 7th in BJSC 74 but with 82 points). One other thing that we smashed was our number of 18s received! Our previous best was 3, and we received a grand total of 5 18s for this entry! The countries that awarded us with the top honour were: Cumulonimbia, Deandria, Ethanola, Suedeonia and Quintessa! So a big thank you to those and to Persephonia and Terra Avium who also gave us big medal scores of 13. This really was a huge surprise and a brilliant way to come back from our DNQ last month.

Cor Lupus won the contest with 'Higher' by The Naked and Famous with a staggering 432 points! This big win was also cemented by them smashing the semi record - by receiving 186 points in semi 2. Elsewhere, our 18 points this time went to FSR Rontvia with the stunning 'Illumbarada' by Ortiga which finished in 5th place. Our 15 points were given to Persephonia with 'Water Frozen' by TWRR and this finished in 20th place. Our 13 went to Fljótavík with 'Fall On Me' by Kitten and this placed at 14th. So it was a brilliant night for ourselves and also for our ultimate favourites all finishing top 20.

BJSC 88
MssingNo - Scope



BJSC 88 has arrived in fellow BJSC 74 debutant nation Cor Lupus! An unveiling of all entries took place last night and 'Scope' was announced as our own offering to this contest. This is our 15th entry to BJSC and our first ever British act to the competition! We have delved into the material of British acts more than any other for spinoffs, but it has taken us almost a year and a half to finally send one to the main contest. MssingNo is a wonderful British talent and this song caught my eye more than anything due to the stellar production. The looped vocals are pretty chirpy but the production helps to give it a bit of a darker edge. The vocal part throughout is very catchy and meant that it was a love at first listen earworm. It continued to stick with us for a few months and now is the time to unleash it to the rest of you. King Bellsprout is thrilled to have fellow Pokémon MssingNo in the contest and urges all semi 1 voters to vote for Jadakissnia this month, and help us rebuild our Q streak up to 2.
