Robbie Williams teases 'huge' news with racy announcement photo
Robbie Williams has teased he's set to make a "huge" reveal tomorrow but it’s the eye-popping way he’s chosen to make the announcement that’s attracted attention.
In a post to his social media profiles, Williams sent fans into a spin with a nearly-nude snap of himself apparently imposed in the middle of a classical painting.
Covering his modesty with just his hands, the father-of-three grins widely as the figures behind him look on in shock and horror as his robe appears to have pulled from him.
While it’s certainly an eye-catching image, it remains to be seen if gives any clue toward what his news is.
Many of Williams’ fans were taken with the post that left little to the imagination.
"Looking forward to seeing your huge revelation," one commented as another wrote: "Oh come on it can’t be that big!!!"

I’m revealing something huge tomorrow x
Thanks to @collagebygrey for the artwork
However, others were simply hoping that a tour or a Christmas album might be on the cards.
Williams and his wife Ayda Field revealed earlier in the year that they would not be returning to The X Factor judging panel in 2019 after making their debut together last year.
The pair cited their work schedules as the reason behind them not coming back.

It made me smile!
Robbie Williams gets festive with Tyson Fury for Christmas album
Sir Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams and Jamie Cullum also feature on the record.
The 28-track double album is Williams’ 13th, and was penned in London, Los Angeles and Stoke-on-Trent.
The album will be released by Colombia Records on November 22.

Any word on the track listing?
Robbie Williams announces first EVER Christmas album
The Christmas Present features a very surprising collaboration
Robbie Williams has the best Christmas gift for his fans – he is releasing his first ever Christmas album! The 45-year-old announced the news at an intimate gathering at iconic Soho music venue, The Court, on Thursday, and he has collaborated with some surprising artists on the album – including his dad, Pete, and boxer Tyson Fury.
Speaking to Scott Mills about how the track with Tyson – called Bad Sharon – came about, Robbie explained: "That makes sense in some sort of universe. So I got my residency in Vegas and while I was out there, Tyson was fighting and he invited me to his dressing room before the – is it called a dressing room when you fight? I dunno – and he invited me to that before the fight," he said. "I was in there and just in that moment I was like 'I've seen you sing after bouts' and I asked him and he said yes."
Robbie continued: "And the song itself, Bad Sharon, is basically a very boozy, office party somewhere in the Midlands and it made sense for Tyson, in that moment in my head, and to be fair he smashed it." Other artists Robbie has collaborated with on the album, called The Christmas Present, include Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams, who he said were "people that I know and people that I like".
Meanwhile, Robbie's wife Ayda has also had a special involvement in the project, as she stars in the video for the first single – Time for Change – which was filmed at their home. However, they chose not to feature their children Teddy, Charlie and Coco in the video. "It was great. Rolled out of bed, straight into makeup, and we shot a video all day yesterday and it was good," Robbie said. "Just to clarify the children are not ours in the video. The children are not ours in the video, but they insisted on calling me dad all day, it was so weird."
The album has been a "passion project" of Robbie's for the past three years, and will be released on 22 November by Columbia Records. And he has shared even more exciting news with fans, as he will be hosting The Robbie Williams Christmas Party at London's SSE Arena in December, with exclusive access to tickets given with album pre-orders purchased on his official website.
So, while The Christmas Present is Robbie's gift to fans, what would he love for Christmas? "A Christmas number one album," he confessed. "That's the big deal, that's the big hope and the reason that I've been involving myself with this passion project for the last three years."

Robbie Williams wants to take Christmas back from Michael Bublé – and I am here for it
image: https://ksassets.timeincuk.net/wp/uploads/sites/55/2019/10/Robbie-Williams-920x584.jpg
He was going to call his newly announced Christmas album 'Achtung Bublé'
So this is Christmas.
Well, no, it’s October – but proper pop star Robbie Williams has started the season in earnest already, having announced the release of his upcoming festival album, ‘The Christmas Present’, along with the news that he’s hosting a massive ‘Christmas Party’ at London’s SEE Arena on December 16.
The album’s (slightly weird) artwork depicts Robbie as a sort of Dickensian character brandishing a copy of his own album. Robbie’s never been shy about his egotism, and it’s easy to imagine him wrapping up a copy of his own record to under slip under the Christmas tree. I just wanna feeeeeel the package to see if I can guess what it is.
He made the announcement at a swish club in central London last night, which was like a cross between a Christmas market and an episode of The Only Way Is Essex. The mulled wine flowed, waiters paraded around with silver trays of teeny, tiny mince pies and a selection of the seasonal tracks – there are 28 of buggers – blared from the speakers. And then Robbie arrived to dish out quotes like twinkling stocking fillers.
“You’re always looking for a reason to go into the studio,” he told interviewer Scott Mills during a short Q&A. “And I thought: ‘Why don’t I own birthdays like Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder? Or New Year’s Day like… U2?” He then thought twice about Bono’s ode to Polish trade union battles in the 1980s. “Well, it’s a bit depressing, that one, isn’t it? You wouldn’t put that one on for a shindig.”
Mills countered that festive crooner Michael Bublé, who seems to have had the monopoly on Christmas since Santa was just a lad, shouldn’t get all the work. “This album was gonna be called ‘Achtung Buble’, Robbie replied. I f***ing love Michael, But it must stop. It must end now.”
Imagine: 28 tracks of pure festive Robbie. I don’t wanna rock, DJ, but you’re making me feel so Christmas spice. Some are covers of festival favourites, others are brand new compositions. There’s one called ‘Snowflakes’, a newbie on which Robbie winks, “We’re all just liberal snowflakes”. He also ropes in Jamie Cullum to have a go on Slade’s ‘Merry Xmas’, and it’s not even a lump of coal.
Rod Stewart’s on the album. So’s Bryan Adams. The boozy knees-up ‘Bad Sharon’, another new one , features guest vocals from boxer Tyson Fury.
Wait – what?
“That makes sense in some sort of universe,” Robbie insisted. “I got my residency in Vegas [in 2017 and last year] and while I was out there, I went to his dressing room. Do you call it a dressing room when it’s a fight? Anyway, I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve seen you sing after bouts’. So I asked him and he said yes. The song itself, ‘Bad Sharon’, is a very boozy office party somewhere in the Midlands. To be fair, Tyson smashed it.”
It’s amazing that Robbie’s never done a Christmas album before. He’s done enough bloody swing albums – it’s kind of the next logical conclusion. There’s been something of a Robbie renaissance in recent years, from his blockbuster Hyde Park show over the summer – which NME saw a smash-hit try-out for what would surely be a legendary Glastonbury slot – to the fact that ‘Rock DJ’ became an unofficial anthem for the #Cans4Corbyn movement, back when everyone thought Jeremy Corbyn was good.
Read more: Listen up, Glastonbury – Robbie Williams’ BST Hyde Park show is the ultimate come and get me plea
So it’s brilliant to see him preparing to become a Christmas staple, transition from boyband bad boy to uncle Robbie complete. What an end to the decade.
Still, he really should have called the album ‘Achtung Bublé’.
‘The Christmas Present’ is released on November 22. He plays London’s SSE Arenas on December 16

Achtung Buble
Like the sound of the Bryan Adam's song and want to hear him cover Slade.
But mostly want to hear all the new songs.
Love the cover and the whole "A Christmas Carol" concept. Very clever .
I wish him well with it. 💖
At the moment I like everything about this announcement!
The artwork is perfect: it's a classic one but with Rob's sense of humor and ego, for sure.
2CD is just fantastic present for fans who want to hear the original songs.
Bryan Adams duet...amazing news!
Def, his promo will be huge and it's gonna be a very complicated but a great battle against Coldplay, The Who, Rod Steward, Leoanrd Cohen - all of them are releasing on same day as Robbie. Plus Adele is somewhere near.
It's a hard work but he has a chance. He is Robbie Williams.
Maybe only the album's title could be more original - Achtung Buble sounds perfect
btw, the first single is TIME FOR CHANGE

Best Sellers in Classic British Rock
There's pretty much no chance of getting a #1 album with Coldplay releasing (though that's not 100% yet), but top 3 would be a great result.
Why do you think that there is no chance to battle Coldplay to the no 1 spot, maybe not the same week, but on the way to Christmas?
The only one who I feel sure Rob will not be able to beat is Adele. She will smash everything.
But I think that Rob has done this album also for the Christmas top ten of the next 10 years without doing anything and this will sure happen if it is any good.
Well it won't on the first week at least, Coldplay's last album sold 235k in week 1 - and Robbie will likely be front loaded.
Coldplay is big in America and Robbie not. America is a great market that he misses out so I agree that he won't be able to beat Coldplay
Those were both UK stats
I don't referred to the American Market which is out of question. I speak about the UK no 1 spot
If Robbie beats Coldplay to #1 in the UK, I will eat my hat.
But at least there'll be 2 good albums out on the same day
Nothing like a bit of competition I say
I'm loving all these reference to his family on the reverse of the album cover.
His Mum actually had a flower shop too didn't she.
I think any release in quarter four is going to be hard but he'll have to fight for it. He's never been scared of that before.
Like Tess says - competition is good with album sales in the toilet.
He'll give it his very best shot - we can we sure of that.

"I've had some buttocks on my face too"
Nikki, she is very famous in the Netherlands....soon on TV
Soul Transmission fits nicely in this album
How does it feel
What do you want me to say?
I said I feel like being
Alone on Christmas day
Sights and sounds
At the end of the day
Make you feel like being
Alone on Christmas Day

I wonder f Let's Not Go Shopping is an hint to Ayda
9. Let’s Not Go Shopping
Having re-read everything again - I understand now that the Christmas Past CD - isn't just the covers - that actually the new tracks and the covers are all mixed together over both CD's.
There are some wicked song titles on there - just make me smile reading them.
Let's Not Go Shopping being one of them.
Coco's Christmas Lullabye
Happy birthday Jesus Christ I just want to sing "here's the Spice Girls merchandise"
Bit of Photo shopping going on here - but a beautiful man nonetheless.

I've ordered the signed copy with the two cassettes. £18 isn't bad - the £4.49 P&P is extortionate though.
I've still got the Something Stupid single on cassette upstairs somewhere. That was the last one for me - after that it was CD's.
So,
- 20 songs (!!) are originals (bold).
- 8 songs are covers.
That's a good mix. Glad it's not all covers.
20 originals, that is amazing , I am thrilled with that news , I hope the album does well . He is defintely a prolific songwriter ,
Due the fact this cover recorded with Bryan Adams can we have a chance to get a rock version like this?
Funny that there is also song New Year's Day...
Would be fantastic to hear U2/Bono and Rob on the same record one day (yes, I remember about Do They Know It's Christmas)... Hope we will get it at once.
I think this release is extremely clever. Could be a Bublé-esc recurring album every Xmas. Looking forward to listening to it!
@4.25 brief mention of album ..
ROB & ROD SHOW Robbie Williams and Sir Rod Stewart are performing a duet at the Royal Variety Show
ROBBIE Williams is kicking off the promo for his new festive album with a very regal gig at the London Palladium.
I can exclusively reveal the singer is topping the bill at this year’s Royal Variety Show, three years after he last sung for the Royal family.
Robbie Williams and Rod Stewart will perform together at The Royal Variety Show
A source said: “Robbie jumped at the chance to perform again at The Royal Variety Show.
“It’s a huge deal and he’s been on three times before, once in 2016 and again in 2013 and 2012. Robbie sees it as a massive privilege to be asked to perform for Royalty and is excited to get back on stage in front of them.”
Robbie won’t be alone however, as he’s called upon Sir Rod Stewart and Jamie Cullum to appear alongside him, after enlisting them to sing on his new record, The Christmas Present.
The source added: “Robbie’s so proud of his tracks with Rod and Jamie, so to have them performing with him is going to make the night extra special.
“As well as singing a duet with Robbie, Rod is also going to be singing one of his own songs from his new album, You’re Always In My Heart.”
The last time Robbie sang for the Royal family was three years ago

I'd like to see them singing It Takes Two
Seeing as their albums are both out the same day - they can kill two birds with one stone.

Unusual combo.
Let's Not Go Shopping and Merry Xmas Everybody are releasing tonight!
Waiting!!
Let's Not Go Shopping is *brilliant*
I hope the whole album isn't in this jazz style...
This isn't really what I was expecting, I thought it would be much more modern sounding.
I was expecting it to be more jazz sounding in the similar way to the two Swing eras.
I really like the two new songs. Looking forward to hearing more!
Swing
But as both tracks are on the Christmas past album and not the Christmas present album hopefully it's not all like this.
His voice sounds gorgeous and he does swing so well but it's not how I like my popstar.
Video for Merry Xmas Everybody:
Sure!
CD1 Past is about jazz-swing
CD2 Future is pop/rock
Well having watched the video it has a great sound. It's catching.
I liked what I am hearing , I love a great sounding band & Robbies voice has a really rich sound to it ...will come across really well on tv ...
Really like the video , very relaxed vibe to it, reminds me of the Jools Holland show
https://youtu.be/mwYpoqP_V9Q
btw, it would be good if he will perform at Jools Holland show this winter
Let's Not Go Shopping is great.
Can see this being a Radio 2 album of the week nearer to when it's released.
http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=227802
You can vote for 'Let's Not Go Shopping' in Track of the Week
His Merry Xmas Everybody cover is pretty good tbh.
Let's Not Go Shopping is growing on me a little bit too.
On Upfront someone posted that he was on Michael McIntyre tonight at the Palladium and sang Winter Wonderland.
Safe to say - he will be popping up a lot on TV this Christmas
3 performances at Palladium this winter...
O that's good , I am not a great fan of the M McI show ( I feel like tying him to a chair ) but I will certainly watch it if Mr RW puts in appearance.
I wonder if we will see him on Strictly & that awful Celebrity XF ) & of course the GN show ...
Pre-sale tomorrow.
Will try for seats.
You are so lucky where you live Laura, that's where t's all happening
Yes, I envy all those theatres you have in London , I can easily hop over to London from Shannon airport but then I have to add the cost of staying o /night in London, not something I am inclined to do unless it's really special & I have nothing else planned in the year,
Talking of travel not long to go now to the Stratford trip ,m really looking forward to same
I even feel a little retail therapy frame of mind happening
did anybody else get the joke in Robbie's insta post?
I certainly didn't until RW.MBE pointed it out.
Should have guessed really - it has RW sense of humour all over it.
this is sooo funny
'Rudolph' and 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' feat. Bryan Adams are releasing tonight!
Christmas BPCH will be our first listen of a Christmas Future track, so I'm looking forward to it!
Yes, waiting for that!!

Liverpool’s LMA Choir to feature on Robbie Williams’ Christmas album
Global superstar, Robbie Williams has announced his first Christmas album, The Christmas Present, which includes backing vocals from the 14-strong LMA Choir on four songs, as well as duets with Jamie Cullum, Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams.
The choir, who were part of Robbie’s group on 2018’s The X Factor, have lent their vocals to yuletide classics Santa Baby, Winter Wonderland and Rudolph, as well as original track Soul Transmission.
Head of LMA Choir Stephanie Wallace-Carr, who also helped to arrange some of the backing vocals on Soul Transmission and Rudolph, said: “We are so excited to finally be able reveal what we’ve been working on for months – the idea to be part of Robbie’s Christmas album was first discussed last year and we’re now just weeks away from it being released.
“We formed an incredible bond with Robbie straightaway and he shared our passion and belief right from the start, so to now have our vocals included in four of the tracks is amazing.”

So, there will be updated version of Soul Transmission
Rudolph

Strange, I can't find the original. Maybe it's an original song as well?
Yeah Rudolph is an original!
Thanks!
I must admit, it's a really cool festive song.
It could be a very good addition to any animation picture.
Loving the clip of Rudolph, really cute track ..
Liverpool’s LMA Choir to feature on Robbie Williams’ Christmas album
07/11/2019
Robbie Williams has enlisted the talents of Liverpool’s LMA Choir for his upcoming festive album.
It follows Robbie becoming co-owner of media, music and performing arts institution LMA earlier this year, joining co-founders Richard and Simon Wallace; former Tesco chief Sir Terry Leahy; and investment expert Bill Currie on the board of directors.
Robbie said: “I’m beyond excited to announce my first ever Christmas album. I’ve done a lot in my career and releasing this record is another dream come true. Making this album has been so much fun and I can’t wait for you all to hear it.”

“We formed an incredible bond with Robbie straightaway and he shared our passion and belief right from the start, so to now have our vocals included in four of the tracks is amazing.”
News of the album, which is released on 22 November, comes after LMA Choir took to the stage with Robbie at Hyde Park in July. They joined him for his sold-out gig at the British Summer Time Festival, performing a selection of the star’s hits – including iconic power ballad Angels and Take That classic Never Forget – to more than 60,000 fans.
As part of his co-ownership at LMA, Robbie will play a key role in the launch of the institute’s new London campus, which is due to open at Here East in September 2020
Stephanie, who is also creative director of musical theatre at LMA, added: “The last 12 months have been absolutely phenomenal for us – from welcoming Robbie to the LMA family to announcing our brand new campus in London, it’s an extremely exciting time and we’re looking forward to our next chapter.”

Robbie Williams releases super festive Christmas duet with Bryan Adams - listen now
Rudolph is so beautiful song! It sounds a little bit similar to Go Gentle and The Heavy Entertainment Show but much more versalit and that makes this song is differ to his back catalog.
I would say it reminds me SW: Episode I soundtrack and song's bridge sounds like Sergio Leone movies with Morricone soundtrack.
Amazing one! Ayda was right.
Absolutely love his version of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - it's already a great song, and Robbie has some fantastic vocals on it.
Also, exciting news!
'It's Not The Robbie Williams Christmas Show' is being filmed at the Alexandra Palace Theatre to be aired on ITV in December - fantastic promo!
Great news about the ITV show, I know it will be fabulous ... that guy is so right about Robbie connecting with his audience ..
Love the storytelling through the lyrics & the choir sound wonderful , would love to hear this live on tv ..
I really like Rudolph. It's a very beautiful song.
I like his cover of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).
I'm feeling rather festive today
Rudolph is really good also
Also, is Soul Transmission the same song that was on his Different EP? If so, it explains why the EP was taken down.
2GB Gives You Robbie Williams For Christmas!
https://www.2gb.com/competition/2gb-gives-you-robbie-williams-for-christmas/
Shhhh… secret - he's signed his 10,000 album
Robbie Williams has released the best original Christmas song in years
Robbie Williams is preparing to release first Christmas album next week, and if this song is anything to go by, Michael Bublé should be worried.
The Christmas Present will be a double album of Christmas tunes, combining covers of festive favourites and brand new tracks.
Robbie has unveiled four songs so far, including covers of Slade's 'Merry Xmas Everybody' with Jamie Cullum and 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' with Bryan Adams, and original song 'Let's Not Go Shopping'.
The fourth song, however, is a particularly brilliant slice of Christmas pop that deserves to become a modern classic.
Listen to 'Rudolph' below:
'Rudolph' sees Robbie take on the Santa Claus role, as he travels around the world with his trusty 'Rudy' guiding the way.
Cleverly using elements of 'Carol of the Bells', the song is instantly familiar while also sounding brand new.
Meanwhile, Robbie has also announced an ITV special. It's Not the Robbie Williams Christmas Show will see the former Take That star take to the stage for a one-off special, to be shown in December.
Filmed this month at the newly-restored Alexandra Palace Theatre, viewers will be treated to an evening of music and entertainment from Robbie and special guests.
Robbie releases his first Christmas album on November 22, which he hopes will knock Michael Bublé "off his perch".
Robbie has also announced a brand new UK tour date for this December, called The Robbie Williams Christmas Party, taking place at The SSE Arena in Wembley on December 16, 2019.

KNOCKOUT DUET Tyson Fury reveals he recorded Christmas single with Robbie Williams in his LIVING ROOM
ROBBIE Williams and Tyson Fury release their Christmas single, Bad Sharon, this month and now the boxing champ has revealed he didn’t even step inside a studio to record his vocals.
Appearing on The Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast Show this morning, the 31-year-old admitted he recorded his lyrics in the comfort of his living room.
Speaking to radio host Chris, Tyson explained: “It was all a thing where I was trying to fit it in and I was supposed to come down to a studio in London to record it, but I never got enough time.
“So what happened was they came to my living room, at home, set up a studio and I recorded it at home,” he added.
Revealing how the duet came about, Tyson continued: “Robbie was at one of my fights in Las Vegas and he came backstage to see me. And he said to me, ‘you’re a bit of a singer, you sing after your fights, would you like to do a Christmas song with me?’
The boxing champ revealed he recorded his vocals in his living room
“I said, ‘for sure, I'm a massive fan’, and we got hooked up and got it done and it's going to be out in a couple of days.”
Bad Sharon is expected to be this year’s Christmas number one, beating the likes of Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi.
But as well as being a singer and a world champion boxer, Tyson is also a father-of-five.
Discussing his role as a dad, he told Chris: “I'm a full-time, hands on father. I take the kids to school in the morning, I get them up, feed them breakfast, pick them up from school. It's hard work. Five children is hard work for sure!”
Admitting he will probably have a couple of fights next year, Tyson also spoke about his plans for the future post-boxing.

I didn't realise their duet was going to be the single.
Apparently so
I like it, a great fun song
and very smart lyrics Can't believe in Christams again
sounds like All I want for Christmas is you
Really like it, very British!

Time for Change is a god title for a Robbie song, I guess it's very personal o you think
Vaughan Arnell has done the video , only the best
I just love this song

My favourite by far.
Promo has started.
In Manchester tonight.
I've bought the signed album but I may buy the deluxe version too nearer to Christmas - we'll see.
Great photo from the Royal Variety tonight.

He speaks so beautifully

This is hilarious
He's done a video to show his more erm "mature" fans how to add his album to Apple Music.
and I followed his instructions and I've done it I wouldn't have had a clue
great bit of marketing.
More tea Vicar?
Santa Baby has dropped

Shopping is not my favourite thing to do, so I thought I’d write about it x
Here’s how the track 'Let’s Not Go Shopping' from my new album 'The Christmas Present' came to be.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B5GOAqcJTeD/
I'm far far far more interested in his own songs - I'm really not interested in the 100th version of Santa Baby.
Hanging on for the originals……
Otherwise I'll just accept this isn't the album for me and wait for the next one
Just heard CD1 - Past!
Sorry for spoilers in advance!
Some my notes from the first time:
1. Robbie should be more brave and throw away all covers at all!! All originals on CD Past are much better than covers, excluding...
2. ...The Christmas Song (Chesnuts Roasting...). Since One For My Baby songs with piano sound great with him. It's a good cover.
3. My favourite song on Past album is One Last Christmas. He sounds just like Elvis there. Great song. It could be an instant Xmas Number 1 before streaming era.
4. Best Christmas Ever could be a great anthem for families at the Eve. And it could be Gary Barlow song. Beautiful one. Also Robbie's voice sounds rather young here - i'd say like in Escapology period.
5. I'd prefer to see and hear Let's Not Go Shopping as the opening track of this album - there is a beautiful intro and it would do the beginning of the album much more richer. Mr Chris Briggs, can you hear me?
6. Rudolph is one the best for years and very smart using some samples in it.
7. You can recognise a children's choir in every third song and I like it.
8. Good mood and wonderful new songs: they are mostly with retro sounding but defenetily all of them have a festive mood.
9. Very good duet with his dad! I can hear it's follower to the swing song from Under The Radar Vol.2. He uses the same basis for that. 'Merry Christmas, papa!'
10. Big band and orchestra is 10/10.
So, my verdict: it's exactly what I thought about CD1. Talented mix between swing and festive sounding for new songs. And not so exciting about covers: I'd say on two of them (Winter Wonderland, for example) Rob sounds... very lazy. Thanks God they are only few on it.
Xmas is coming!
CD2 - Future will be in my ears tomorrow!
The songs are done with care. Lots of playfulness and Robbies vocals are the best in years.
Haven't got through all of them yet becouse Im replaying previous songs. One Last Christmas, Time for change and The darkest night sound great on the first listen.
Thank you for the reviews.
Haven't got mine yet - looking forward to listening tomorrow.
Thanks fr the reviews, I will download the album tonight , I find your 'lazy' observation Alex but not unexpected, Robbie is inclined to do that with songs he is very familiar with..
The covers I have heard so far do have a nice feel to them , love the choir , gives it a real Xmas'y feel ...
Robbie somehow in his head thinks that people do not want to hear new material when he performs live which I find hugely disappointing as a fan , let's hope he gets a bit braver
Has anyone heard Time for Change yet !!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqbbQvfooLM
so many songs... it's unusual sense when you can choose any of songs to hear and listen the album/s as you want.
that's why there are so many feelings, bridges and thoughts what I could say.
For example, the verses of this bonus track remind me Take That of 90s, while a chorus is classic Rob and bridge is The Beatles' Sgt Pepper.
The gorgeous Soul Transmission.
I'm loving this one too - that's three on the trot I've really enjoyed.
I don't think I will be listening to the covers but these originals I'm really enjoying and that's on first listen.
Album reviews: Robbie Williams – The Christmas Present and Harry Nilsson – Losst and Founnd https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/robbie-williams-review-the-christmas-present-tyson-fury-tracklist-harry-nilsson-a9212186.html
Two stars from the Independent.
Original Christmas songs are essentially a no-go for most artists, and in this case, Williams would have been much better releasing a single album of covers that stuck lovingly to the classics, as he did with the swing records.
I couldn't agree less with this bit.
Robbie Williams – 'The Christmas Present' review: anything but a lump of coal http://po.st/hPWZM9 via @NME
3 stars from NME
three of how many?
most reviews are that bad the album should be a success :-)
Really like the melody & lyrics in Not Christmas ...
Robbie is on BBC News this morning, looking so well..
Rudolph is my favourite song on the album & should have been the lead single on the album, it's beautiful , love everything about it ...
The melody to Snowflakes has the Beatles When I'm 64 feel to it
A grower is this one ...
I have to say I'm doing a bit of a 360 here.
So I listened to a lot of the originals last night and they did click with me. I LOVED the lyrics. I thought them very beautiful and contemporary and they touched me.
This morning I asked Alexa to play the album while In was doing the housework and his voice on some of the classics is gorgeous. Clear, warm and beautiful.
I'm enjoying the originals because there is no rapping that he always veers towards on his albums. I can hear Guy's influence and I like it.
I'm not so keen on the swing or flipping Santa Baby but on first listen - the originals and the slower classics are sublime and so many tracks to pick from.
I think I could really enjoy this album.
Rudolph is brilliant. Can't stop listening to it. So catchy.
His Poppa can't sing can he?
And..... track two - Idlewild - really liking this song.
Missed him on JR tonight -will catch up tomorrow
Yep, I admitted that I'm against covers and even more - I was against Santa Baby since we had just seen this track into a tracklist.
But... to be fair I should let you know that I'm actually liking Santa Baby version on the album
p.s. Yes, I'm dealing with LP 1 for a while I decided to safe LP2 for the second part of winter tme - don't want to mix everything.
Brilliant !!

Who else but Robbie would mention Justin Bieber & Merchandise in a song about Jesus
Love this tune actually ...
On Walk This Sleigh - it was "Happy birthday Jesus Christ, here's the Spice Girls merchandise."
Glad he's updated it for 2019.
So today he was at the Magic FM gig at The Palladium.
He's got the Ally Pally gig on Tuesday that will be shown on ITV Sunday 8th December.
I've no idea about other artists future album release dates - I wonder if he will be able to get this album to UK number one?
Time will tell.
'He's a one of a kind artist': Columbia MD Manish Arora on Robbie Williams' Christmas LP http://bit.ly/2XEyX0z
Number 2 in the midweek chart information.
4k behind Coldplay.
Absolutely loving the album now and Disc 1 is easily my favourite. Great opening sales of 48k and hopefully a steady seller up to Christmas.
Great song Snowflakes , love the chorus
I've been listening to the album on Spotify at work today and I really am enjoying it . Anyone else and I wouldn't have given it a chance. Coco's Christmas Lullaby. What a beautiful song that it .
Plus those lyrics to Snowflakes are funny.
I think the warmth of the album is because of where he is now with his lovely family and it just translates into the lyrics. It's very heartfelt.
Album sales are diabolical these days ....remember the days when they would sell over 300k week 1 , I never look at charts these days ...
I really like the album , has great feel good factor to it ...
He's at Ally Pally tonight recording the show that will be on ITV on 8th December.
I was wondering about the sales figures either, also the ones of Coldplay are not high. He should make the number 2 spot though as Rod was a lot of sales back in the beginning of the week. I think that he can reach 60,000 which would be nice.
Still I hope that he can make a no 1 later in. but was told that the Harry Styles release might also be huge.
No idea that the 1D's still sell well as solo artists considering what I saw of Liam and Louis.
Anyway, Rob will have achieved the goal that he will sell every year at this time.
I like the album. It is a feel good album and so is the video of Times for change.
One question you might have an idea about. Rob has spread his promotion wings to Amazon, Apple, Aldi etc which I think is a great idea.
How does it work during promo? Does the management have to pay that they use RW and work with them or do they pay RW to be his partners?
5 & 10
I've had disc two on in the car the last two days - I love it.
I'm going to try disc one tomorrow. Then I can start thinking about which are my favourite tracks.
Sales on 57K at the mo.
I hope he will be place 2 and will continue steady sales to Christmas. The huge shows are still ahead and the nearer to Christmas the more people feel Christmassy. I also heard that his CD will be sold with Aldi as up today.
Well, maybe no number one for the Christmas album, I had hoped for, but a big success nevertheless.
What I wonder however is:
There is no money in album sales aside you sell Adele's amounts. If you don't tour - which he will not do for a Christmas album - where is the money then with this album?
No chance of No.1 thanks to Coldplay widening the gap to 10k but hey should sell well in December and may even get to No.1 following the ITV special on Sun 8th. Was apparently recorded last night.
Robbie Williams interview: "I have no chance of being the Christmas number one"
28 November 2019, 11:46
https://www.smoothradio.com/artists/robbie-williams/interview-christmas-album-buble-video/
I don't think he has much chance either as streaming will go against him.
I think that this is quite a lot considering it was November and not everyone was already in Christmas mode.
Thanks for the update, Alex
In Germany he is no 2 either as the lead singer of Rammstein beat him to place one. He will start the German promo next week. I don't know however how many albums he shifted. Maybe 15 - 20000 there? Do you know Alex?
How to find Red Button???
hm... I'd say he was not so good vocally the evening at BBC Live while the setlist was very good
I missed the beginning of the concert , did he sing any songs from is Xmas album , sometimes that lad makes me scratch my head
The concert is here!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000bs99
Btw, I just admit Time For Change is MUCH better in live. The use wonderful arrangements.
What I really like in this song is pre-choruses with a children choir and bridge.
Considering No Regrets... Yes, Syd, agree with you.
It's my favourite songs of all time, not only Robbie's.
Btw, talking about Christmas, Last Christmas is around the corner in personal faves.
Well, not only Xmas songs but at all. Def, Last Christmas means much more than just one more festive song, especially after George loss.
In fact, it's one more song what I can listen anytime and never tire of it.
Well, we have similar tastes
I also like Driving Home For Christmas very much.
My Top-5 of Xmas songs:
1. Wham! - Last Christmas
2. Chris Rea - Driving Home for Christmas
3. Frank Sinatra - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
4. John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
5. Darlene Love - All Alone On Christmas
I also really LOVE Driving home for Christmas.
Well done to Coldplay and well done to Robbie on his 67K. It's great that he is matching the HES sales although he did release that album a couple of weeks earlier.
I'm guessing his "team" weighed up the pros and cons of releasing the album in a busy week up against Coldplay, versus a week closer to Christmas and a quieter week. I'm hoping it's that and not just complete ineptitude on his Management front!
He'll be very disappointed and it must be hard to go to the Radio 2 gig with that level of disappointment in your heart. But - he's a professional and there's still a chance he can get there. If anyone can turn it around - he can.
Gorgeous
Hopefully watch the Radio 2 gig tomorrow.
I wonder where I can see it :-) despite I have BBC television here in the Netherlands the red button does not help here
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000bs99
The album seems to be dropping on the Amazon sales chart with Coldplay still at one, on offer at £6.99 and Rod Stewart at 2.
No, it's the same like it was 3 previous days.
Including the second edition on 12th.
I put this on Upfront last night
and he replied this
You cant be sacking management Laura
could you ask him to sack his stylist instead, I have those glittery jackets . they add years to him, ask him to wear a nice black suit
Rob backs to #1 on Itunes Album chart, it's a good tendency for the beginning of a new week.

Album: The Christmas Present
iTunes (8x #1):
#1 Austria
#1 Czech Republic
#1 Germany
#1 Greece
#1 Hungary
#1 Luxembourg
#1 Poland
#1 Slovakia
#2 United Kingdom (#1 is NOW album
#2 Switzerland
The track Yeah! It's Christmas.
I was convinced this was an old early 1960s song (although the Bob and Betty lyric aroused my suspicions.
I just checked to see he wrote it. Such a clever song.
So many songs on this album that I love and how he has seamlessly mixed in his new lyrics with the old classics. That man is truly a chameleon.
It is interesting to follow twitter in the moment regarding Rob. He is so polarizing between totally ugly remarks which make me shudder (including 'may he had better died instead of Robin Williams') to unconditional love.
One side he is crap, one side he is the best of the best.
mymymy.
I watched the original video of one of my most loved Rob songs yesterday 'come undone'.
He came a very long way since then. Sometimes I really miss this bad boy. Then I know that he might be dead indeed if he had continued like this.
Anyway, he is working hard for the promo of this album. This week the German promo will set in and as the Dutch people also look German TV we will see more of Rob here. I hope that he will achieve a number one in Austria, Germany Switzerland in the next weeks and so hope he will also have a number one in the UK.
AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
It cannot be said that Robbie Williams is a Scrooge with his holiday album, The Christmas Present. In its deluxe edition -- which is the only edition available upon its initial 2019 release -- The Christmas Present is a double album, divided into a disc chronicling "The Christmas Past" on one disc and "The Christmas Future" on the other, thereby turning the record's title into a double-edged pun. The Christmas Past disc is devoted to shopworn seasonal standards, supplemented by a handful of newer tunes written in the same ornate fashion. The Christmas Future finds Robbie loosening his tie and shaking off the strings, splitting his time between sincere ballads and impish novelties. Naturally, The Christmas Future is livelier than The Past, with Williams camping it up with Tyson Fury on the naughty "Bad Sharon" and then happily tweaking both sides of the political aisle with "Snowflakes." Williams may like to act like a bad boy, but at his heart he's a sentimental cornball and, ultimately, he winds up making mawkishness seem merry on The Christmas Present.

I like Party like a Russian and you are right, Alex, he is a chameleon. You never know what is next
Heading for No.1 this week. 5k ahead of Rod at No.2.

Robbie Williams on track for 13th UK Number 1 album with The Christmas Present
After debuting at Number 2 last week, Robbie's festive album is gaining momentum.
Amazing
https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/robbie-williams-on-track-for-13th-uk-number-1-album-with-the-christmas-present__27850/
Midweeks on a Monday, I dont' get it
These sales must be coming from RW.Com because on iTunes and Amazon he is behind Rod Stewart and Coldplay today. Yet the chart says he's 5,000 ahead.
Anyway his management have got their Twitter account twittering, he's added sign bundles of cards and more promo lined up in UK and Europe.
He's fighting for his place and I LOVE him for it.
All that aside - it's a lovely album. It deserves to be heard.
Heart Playlist | as of 02/12/2019
Coldplay - Orphans
Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care
Ed Sheeran feat. Khalid - Beautiful People
Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber - 10,000 Hours
Kygo x Whitney Houston - Higher Love
Lewis Capaldi - Hold Me While You Wait
Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved (Future Humans Remix)
Maroon 5 - Memories
P!nk - Walk Me Home
* Robbie Williams - Rudolph
Sam Smith - How Do You Sleep?
Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita
The Script - The Last Time
Tom Walker - Better Half Of Me
Borrowed from the chart thread. This is promising - if he can get some radio play it will chivvy things along.
Rudolph is the best track for radio IMO.
Talking about covers on the album I like this one for mature voice.
Is it only for me his voice reminds Bono here?
I have to admit - I didn't for one minute think he would get to number one this week.
Nearer to Christmas maybe but not this week.
I'm amazed and really, really happy for him.
Then get this happy photo of the man
Just thinking about marketing program for this album.
I was slightly sceptical after choosing last week as a week of launching the album.
But now we can see Rob is reaching Number 1, so the mission complete!
Let's see on 5 weeks what the album has in details.
1 week
Big competition vs. Coldplay & Rod Stewart.
There was no a guarantee for Number 1.
But there was a guarantee to get a good media within the week (you know, everybody like to talk about battles in charts - it works like a double advert).
Number 2 with 5th resuls of sales of 2019 is a good result.
2 week
Addtional promo in UK + additional concerts announcement with pre-codes for everybody who buys the album + launching ALDI campaign and selling the albums in shops
(as we know - Number 1 is coming today)
3 week
Good media after reaching Number 1 (Elvis, etc.) + ITV Special show (Dec-8) + Royal Performance on TV
The competition vs. The Who.
A good chance to stay at Number 1.
4 week - Christmas Chart week
Big competition vs. new albums of Harry Styles and Stormzy but:
- it's a Christmas Chart week! and Robbie has the best Christmas album of this year, so...
- Wembley concerts on Dec-16-17
- maybe some more appearances on TV around Xmas.
Top-3 is under the belts but maybe even Number 1.
5 week - real Christmas week
Christmas&Boxing day + Graham Norton appearance.
Great chance to be Number 1 on New Year's Day as well.
So, it looks Sony has been arranged a good and clever campaign then. Will be I right this time?
Let's follow to this!
like your analysis, Alex. He is on every channel in Germany at the moment and on a huge show tomorrow, I wonder if he will reach no 1 there either
He is easily looking at a number 1 platinum selling album now, that's a great result for a christmas album.
I wasn't expecting number one this week. Absolutely brilliant.
Alex I think you could be spot on. It feels like he's got momentum behind him.
Thoroughly deserved. Great little album.
I'm especially liking this one today.
Austria was his his first number one. UK is his second number one.
and... Australia is his third number one! He reached it this week!
https://www.ariacharts.com.au/charts/albums-chart
Some more improvement in other charts but give more time to observe it later =)
wow Australia....I think after his promo in Germany they will follow suit at least next week
Great news, he might yet get another week at No 1 in the UK..
I love Fairytales , it does have that Poguesy feel to it, it's one of my favourite songs on the album. Love the interaction between Robbie & Guy in the video , gives you an insight into how they work together & to see Robbie in his serious working mode ,,,
Funny where he takes inspiration for his lyrics from ...
Am really surprised that this is now No.11 on Amazon. December and out of their top 10 sales? Rod at No.1.
Let's hope the supermarkets are well-stocked.
No.25 in the year-to-date album chart. Should be top 20 next week folks.
25 - 77 - 120,000 - Robbie Williams - The Christmas Present
Holding his own on iTunes
To be honest I've never understood how it has got such high sales because every time I look on Amazon he's only ever five or six and Rod Stewart or Coldplay are number one.
I mean - I'm really happy he is - he seems to be doing well on HMV with both the deluxe and the standard CD.
Maybe he's selling most on RW.Com?
I'm just going to enjoy that he got his number one.
Aldi, the stores
Yeah the big supermarkets will sell loads up to Christmas. People see it and pop it in with their shopping.
Laura, folks, I just checked Amazon situation and #10 now.
It's not a drop. It's up.
I noticed that already yesterday Deluxe version was 'deleted' for some hours. It's done again.
In fact, at the moment there is a deal to promote a Standard edition which is 4 pounds cheaper.
Before this action Standard version was in Top-20.
Now is already #10.
So it's one more smart step by Sony.
I like this lady. She looks great fun and obviously adores him.
She is very special and one of the most famous presenters with her own magazine in Germany, never PC so clearly she adores him. They know each other a long time, he once kissed her pregnant belly when he promoted Candy.
As I had a surgery I could watch a bit more TV than usual and the lady presenters on the main TV programs in Germany could not tell enough how much they adore Rob. The other lady in the round in the talk show is a famous news magazine presenter and she was also star struck
The half dozen songs he performed on TV tonight from TCP sounded great.
Angels sounded great.
The performance of Something Stupid I'm trying to forget about.
From Poland last night.
Nice to hear Road to Mandalay.
So down to No.2 in today's first album mids flashes. The Who are at No.1 and 5k ahead of Robbie but he's now outselling them on a daily basis so should overtake them. The Who's first album of new material in 15 years would have been fairly front-loaded. Rod's only just behind him but Robbie's on tomorrow's Royal Variety too and last night's Christmas special was repeated by ITV tonight.
Next week the Christmas No.1 album is announced on Friday 20th and it's all to play for. Robbie will have huge competition from Stormzy and Harry Styles. Rod's also on tour. Can Robbie hold thm all off if he does it this week?
Album number two to The Who at the moment. Rod Stewart very close behind.
Think it will be close this week.
Robbie three on the charts today - 500 behind Rod and Who still at number one.
He's still at two on iTunes and 8 on amazon so think it will be tight.
to me - it feels like the momentum is with Rod Stewart.
Enjoyed his performance at Royal Variety tonight much more than the Christmas show on Sunday.
Third place behind Rod and The Who. 28K.
I think Rod's going to get it. Which is pretty cool.
it's done well enough , I think he's happy to get the No 1 spot ..
I would like both Rod and The Who getting it. Funny that three dinosaurs are that successful
Also there is a new Number 1 in Switzerland
So, in Austria, UK, Australia and Switzerland now.
I still think Germany could be added this week.
me too, Alex. However Germany has changed a bit the last years and is very into 'German' speaking and German provenience music. The number two spot is already a very good achievement there. Bit sad about Dutch performance :-(
But Christmas is not that huge here :-)
X Factor Italia tonight.
Aaaaand Number 1 in Germany this week!
We supposed right.
Well done.
great achievement and in UK? 2 or 3 as I read Rod got it (Also great)
1 Rod Stewart 44,776
2 Robbie Williams 44,065
3 The Who 43,511
This week in UK
Very close Top 2 albums.
has he now already sold 150k in the UK alone?
164k already. It's Number 17 of 2019.
Should be Number 11 next week
164k already. It's Number 17 of 2019.
Should be Number 11 next week
https://instagram.com/p/B6BhyuwpTuo/
He's the first one to congratulate Sir Rod
how many sales is platinum? 220000?
thanks
Looking gorgeous in France tonight.
Credit to Diario Italiano
Seems like he won't get the Christmas No.1 album as Harry Styles and Stormzy are ahead. Maybe No.3. Depends how Rod does.
would not have expected it, despite it is still only the beginning of the week. He got his 13th number one and I hope that he will sell well again this week.
I wonder how many albums are sold entirely including Germany etc. App 200000?
The Wembley gig was great tonight. A mix of songs from The Christmas Present and some more unusual past hits. Great graphics on the screen. Great atmosphere. He said he could feel the love. 💖 He paid tribute to Rod Stewart and his album and had a special guest on at the end. He looked gorgeous in red too.
Rod takes over at No.1 today. Shame. You'd think Robbie's Christmas album would sell more this week.
I still think Robbie's Special is a reason why sales are slightly dropped.
You remember we looked at his schedule and it looks very clever by Sony.
In fact he could be Number 1 since his second week.
But after this 'performance' people slightly lost their interest.
But! I think Rob could overtake Harry and Stormzy but let's the today's figures firstly.
Also Rob is on the way to be Album Number 8 of the year! It's better than I thought.
Also Rob is on Rod's album, don't forget about it so technically he gets his cake as well
Also Robbie keeps and safes some great songs of the album from audience to next years. And I count this as a clever decision too: when you have an album full of so many songs you don't need to promote them all as a desperate guy for one campaign only - when you have done so great and long work you can use the result for years. I wish it to Rob and his team.
Also he has some promo this weekend so there is a chance to finish 2019 as Number 1.
So I think it's a nice campaign and he should be happy.
I have not seen it yet, was it that bad? Or because of the so much discussed incident I saw twitter exploding about?
His sales probably are going to drop now, because people buying the album would only get a week or so of using it (no one is going to be gifted a Christmas album on the day itself!)
Don't know sales for this week but looks like he will be number four for his fourth week.
I think so, yes.
By the way, they finally set a discount for CD. Coldplay did it already on 1st week, Rod did and does it already 2 weeks, even Stormzy. But Robbie just now.
It's additional jocker for being in tops as well.
I still think there is a chance to be Number 1, maybe 2 next week.
Two shows + movie with one more new song this weekend should helps Robbie.
Anyway, looking for 200k sales in UK by Friday
Graham Norton tomorrow night
Since forthcoming weekend until Christmas Day there will be series of Robbie's concerts on European TV channels and not only.
In Poland - an exclusive concert to them.
In Germany, Finland, Sweden, Italy + Mexico + Australia - ITV Special
Maybe some more countries will be added.
So I hope they will change a montage for 'special' concert =)))
Anyway, it's a good way of promo and will stay on top thru Xmas period.
Also he will come to Australia in January time frame.

13 songs already!
Good to see that he has performed so many different ones.
I would like to hear him sing Coco's Christmas Lullabye - I love that one.
Didn't realise he still had so much promo left - good for him - he's worked hard for this album.
This is just the best song , I love it
Down to #7 in the chart today
WW sales of The Christmas Present (after 3 weeks)
322.000
(103.000 - week 3)
http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums.htm
What's he done in the UK so far Alex? Has he got to 200K?
Disappointing he is number 7 although there's four album's there only separated by less than 2,000 sales.
Great for Rod Stewart though.
Let's hope GN appearance adds a few sales.
Aw !!...loved his GN performance...Fairytales sounded fab...loved the fiddle and accordian..really lovely song live...
...I like that our thoughts about Fairytales are the same, ladies!
I had to work yesterday with a severe cold and came home falling to sleep, woke up 10 minutes before GN and fall to sleep again so missed Rob. I went to twitter and checked the reaction.
I think I will skip this medium forever. I am fully aware that Rob polarized since and in his entire career. But the hate out there for him with people who took the time to tweet the worst and most nasty stuff is almost unbelievable and now with the Christmas album it is even worse.
Wonder if this is twitter or twitter special bad for Rob (I never look at twitter aside if it is about him :-) )
Yes Twitter does hate him. Not sure about any other celebrities because I don't follow haters. He is very polarising. Probably why he's had a 30 year career and 13 number one albums. People like us on here and other Robbie forums don't like beige.
Fortunately he also has plenty who like him and buy his albums.
He's 8 and 11 on amazon albums which is pretty solid. Rod is 1 and 13. Coldplay 3 but only in the chart once.
He might be fourth for next weeks chart. Fingers crossed.
On a purely superficial level I want to see his hair. He put on Insta the hair is "gone".
BBC2 promo tonight.
Album up to number 2 on iTunes.
Robbie has his best peak since Intensive Care went to #1 for him in 2005! Since then his only top 10 was Reality Killed The Video Star (#7, 2009), and his last album only peaked at #17.
Just read this in the International chart section on BJ.
These are the New Zealand charts. He peaked at number 2.
He's had some good successes with this Christmas album even if I'm disappointed he didn't keep up his first two week sales run in the UK.
I liked Fairytales, watched BBC concert now (do not have the red button but can watch BBC if it is in the normal program in the Netherlands). I liked it a lot. Have not watched Michael McIntyre yet, short look at Twitter, with al the hate tirades again. You know, when the Christmas Present came out the critics had been meeh and a lot of negative reactions on social media, I thought 'this must be a success'. :-)
He will have sales now every year and despite time for change not really charted well, it will be played again and again just like Santa Baby in Germany (because of Helene Fischer not Robbie :-)
I saw that Rob was in France yesterday for a birthday party for Gwen, which I think is nice to do for her.
Now it will be more quiet days with the families. He had promoted this album a lot, well deserved
Just wonder if there are an more pre-recorded promo in UK until New Year?
Seems no. Only Hey Tiger! in movie.
He is on the radio on Xmas day
Robbie Williams joins Sian Welby on Heart this Christmas Day Heart radio 6pm
Robbie Williams joins Sian Welby on Heart this Christmas Day
21 December 2019, 15:02
The singer, 45 will join Heart's Sian Welby from 6pm on December 25th and will discuss everything from his brand new Christmas album to family traditions.
Sian delves into Robbie's Christmas past, and any particular memories that stand out to him, with the Let Me Entertain You hitmaker recalling memories of BMX bikes and sneaking a peek at his gifts as a child.
He also calls wife Ayda Field a "professional memory maker" and says that all of the Christmases with her have been his favourites as she goes the "whole hog" on all occasions.
Not only this, the X Factor judge also highlights that this year he finally feels like he loves the festive time again
https://www.heart.co.uk/radio/shows-presenters/sian-welby/robbie-williams-sian-welby-christmas-day/
Robbies' not the only artist that gets a a bad time on social media, they all have their own haters, I read recently where Niall Horan1D was giving out about the haters & asking why they were following artists they did not like if they hated them so much, but that is the idea for these kind of people whose main mission is to get at people , it makes them feel good, it gives them a feeling of power. I just ignore them, it's to be expected in this age of social media . I cannot think of an artist I do not like, or care enough about in a negative way to write a whole load of tripe about them.
I enjoyed the M Mc show last night, all a bit of fun with the audience
From BBC radio show which was on BBC 2 last nght
Really like HOME
This album has done really well,he has done lots of promo, should sell well over this weekend ....
Oh! Really? BBC Radio show was on TV yesterday?
It's great then. A little but cosy concert.
Really sweet from Michael McIntyre last night.
Album has been two on iTunes all day and six on Amazon so hopefully he's selling solidly.
Up to #4 in the midweek album chart update! (behind Rod, Lewis & Ball/Boe)
#4 would be fine by the end of this week
Regarding Italian chart I'd say Xfactor didn't helped a lot to the album.
But at least it gets a new peak there - #9 (10-14-17 previously)
Also additional country - Taiwan#11.
Does it also sell in Russia, Alex?
I am a bit disappointed about Holland, but we are not that Christmassy and France and Italy. All in all I think the album did very well.
Great promo. The only bit I was not that keen on was the 'This is not the RW Christmas show". I may be the only one from the fans who did not like the Juli scene so much. He would have had to decide: Joke or Serious. However I saw the German version (it seems every country get another one) and it does not feature David Walliams as he is not known there aside of Little Britain fans and not Ant and Dec. He sings Snowflakes. I rarely do but prefer it to the British version. Holland will have it 31st, Austria 26th.
Any ideas what he is up to next year aside Vegas, Stoke and the Beethoven Bonn concert?
Still don't know about Russia because we haven't a special album chart.
But this weekend there will be Xmas Special + special interview for Russian TV music channel, he promises to visit us with concert next year and still sorry for 2017 year.
Seems you're right, the versions of this concert is different depending on countries. At least it consists more songs than it was for UK television and it's good!

interesting thoughts, Alex. I can see you being right
I can imagine him to get the OBE next year, he his heading for it. I wonder if the musicals also make him money?
He is still very appreciated and loved in the Netherlands, but not for Christmas songs.
And yes, it is interesting to see the charts. I am often wondering about the British press and how they deal with 'superstars'. Did you know that Little Mix, Stormzy and these kinds are hardly known in Europe? Harry Styles and the 1D's hardly score well (place 14 in Germany I think). These days a lot of local music is popular and then the taste gets for one hit wonders you hear everyday until it is forgotten.
People still may by Ed Sheeran without looking though he has overstepped his top, and Adele will be huge again I assume.
I am trying to think of an American artist who is huge, really huge I mean and in the moment there is none I can think of.
In that perspective Rob still holds a good place, despite many newspapers like to point out that his hey days are behind him. I agree, but see coming him back one day. The Bonn concert sold out in seconds. This man has a lot of talents. I wonder if we will ever see the TV show.
By the way, does anyone know how the LAs vegas sales are? Last time I read on FB that it is not sold out yet (maybe due to Christmas)
Robbie Williams: The Christmas Present — decent pastiches of vintage easy-listening
The singer lands his 13th number one album stepping into the role of festive crooner

The Christmas Present has provided its creator with the perfect yuletide gift. After a chart tussle with Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams’s album became his 13th number one, making him the joint most successful solo act in UK chart history with Elvis Presley. History, to paraphrase Marx, repeats itself, the first time as a sneer, the second as a smirk.
The prospect of that smirk being liberally applied to Christmas songs is a powerful argument in favour of January. But Williams’s first excursion into holiday music turns out to be less self-satisfied than one might fear. Something of a connoisseur of old-fashioned standards, as explored in two of his previous chart-toppers, 2001’s Swing When You’re Winning and 2013’s Swings Both Ways, he steps into the role of festive crooner respectfully rather than as an act of parody.
Split into two halves, the double album opens with “Christmas Past”. The singer dons his comfiest cardigan and soft-shoe shuffles his way over to the mantelpiece to glide through the likes of “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)”. Innuendo is mercifully absent. Williams sings smoothly, framed by appropriately expensive orchestrations and tra-la-la-ing choirs. Newly written songs provide decent pastiches of the vintage easy-listening style.
The second disc, “Christmas Future”, heads into the trickier territory of modern holiday music. “Idlewild” and “Darkest Night” set their course by the fading star of The Killers, all obvious chord changes and megaphone vocals. Chart rival Rod Stewart turns up on “Fairytales”, a by-the-numbers duet with an unconvincing dram of Celtic flavouring. The heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury lumbers into view on “Bad Sharon”, hollering grimly alongside Robbie over a Slade-style stomp. “Soul Transmission” is better: a throwback to the singer’s 1990s pomp, when Elvis’s chart record was a mere twinkle in his eyes.
★★★☆☆
I do not agree with the critic on Fairytales, I love that song & the Celtic flavour is just right ....

Finishes the last chart of the year at number four in the charts - no idea of sales but won't be high as Rod Stewart at number one only sold 48K.
So - he's had a chart run of 2,1,2,7 and 4 which is great but sales no where near platinum which on week two I thought he would achieve. I'm guessing he's around 210,000?
Got to number one in five countries though and he got his 13th number one in UK.
All in all - pretty good for year 29 of your career.
Most importantly for me - it's an album I love. I've listened to it loads - love all the original songs and how he's made them sound like old classics from the 1960s. Well done to him.
Robbie Williams’ album helps cassette sales reach 15-year high
The format has seen a resurgence in recent years.
Interesting article , especially the graphs on sales ....
https://www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/robbie-williams-album-helps-cassette-sales-reach-15-year-high-38826040.html
Been listening to the album this morning, love Coco's Christmas lullaby
Rudolph is still one of my favourites, what a great tune for a Christmas tv ad or animated childrens story , just gorgeous ...
& Robbie's voice is sounding great on the album , really strong vocals
Topped the cassette chart with 20,000 sold.
Were the cassettes just a part of the signed bundle? Does that mean he signed 10,000 album covers?
Just heard 5 or 6 songd from the album and how great it is!
Time is only one thing what this album has needed.
It's A Wonderful Life!
I'm looking forward for November to come so I can listen again
Not in the middle of Summer
I wonder if he will re-release it this year or will bring out a disco album
Re-release I.m thinking with some new tracks added ..
I also think so
Yes and me.
and the disco album? next year?
It's too unstable situation around the World to prepare a special campaign for really something new.
If I could be Rob then will do something safety this year. And re-release of the Christmas Album is a very comfortable way for that.
We will see.
I could imagine the disco album in maybe 2022. Something like that.
I think there is a lot of mileage left in the Christmas album. It did well in 2019 but he needs to get it to platinum this year. I think the rough year the world is having means people are veering towards cosy/familiar/ reassuring things and the music on the Christmas album is all of that.
I think it could do well for him again this year - especially with the release of one more song as previously suggested.
It must be a nightmare for artists who intended on releasing new albums this year.
It will be interesting to see what the Christmas music market will be like.
I am not really following this, but what I hear from the news pop ups Lady Gaga's album is doing quite well?
If the name is huge enough and promotion not that important to sell records the artists might be ok.
What will 'hurt' more is the missing touring and the money coming with this.
Robbie makes all his money these days on his live shows , however he took a three year break back in 2006 after the Close Encounter tour so even though this time it's not his choice I can see him bouncing back , he will probably do bits & pieces in between including many private parties especially next year, I think this year is out of the question . Artists here are doing these outdoor drive in events ( a bit like the old drive-in movies back in the day ) but I cannot imagine Robbie fans sitting in a car singing along to Robbie live ( at least not me )
these outdoor car concerts are big in Germany. But we speak about 300 cars max.
Come next spring - I think gigs will be able to continue. he's lost out on Vegas this year but can continue then.
In terms of selling albums - he can use social media better than most I think.
When's it ok to start listening to this again?
I am cancelling Christmas & that''s for sure , I was supposed to be in Australia, I will be lucky if i get there for Xmas next year , so I'm really pi***d off
Yep, Rob confirmed during yesterday IG live that a re-issue will be released on this Xmas.
There will be one new unreleased song. At least one.
Just my opinion - looking for announcement by the end of October with its release by the end of November.
Yes! Fantastic to hear
Credit to Diario Italiano
I thought there might be more than just one new track - maybe two or three?
Looking forward to hearing it anyway
I’m just listening to this album for the first time this year and I’m loving it. All the tracks are sounding great. I think I like it even more than I did last year
Interesting too how the album will do this year.
I really hope they add California Christmas as one of the new tracks 🥰🥰🥰
As we're approaching November, I guess we'll here more about the re-release soon? (If it is happening)
Oh I just stumbled across this on twitter, interesting!
Plans for any release of a Christmas album must have been made by now given that Christmas is just 8 weeks away ..
I suppose there will be a discount flyer for all who have already bought it last year.
ALso I suppose the news will come in 2 weeks.
Two weeks, just has to be , not sure about the discount though...would love to see a tv show built around the album & we know the couch idea is gone for good so no 'cringe fear' factor
Nobody lives in 2020 before this year so new rules are everywhere )) or : (((
2020 Rule books out the window, anything goes as long as it's something , it's survival mode these days
I'm not sure about the idea of a TV program - but would like TV promo - interviews maybe.
Would like to hear the two new tracks and see the re-packaging if it is going to happen.
News from Upfront - no RW calendar this year.
There will be one for 2022.
Which is ironic - given he's looking the best he has for 15 years
What a damn waste
Shame about the calendar, he does look well ..
So Rob has given up on 2020 I think. He will concentrate on 2021 (I hope) with two albums and everything to go with. He might be right to do so as people will be so hungry for new stuff. Being in home office since March I follow some of the early breakfast shows in NL and Germany (My normal commuting time). They have more or less famous guests every day and everyone points out that even with an album out they do not dare to think about touring etc. 2020 is lost.
It will be interesting to see what will happen in 2021 for the music scene. Maybe there will be a vaccine in 2021 or so many people are infected that there is a herd immunity.
I am wondering if he will do a repackaging of the Christmas album. I guess he will.
Such strange times we're living through - but this enforced break gives him lots of writing time.
if we will ever hear this, how often have I heard how man songs he had written and then they hardly appeared. In the moment I have more the impression that he has a year long holiday and concentration on the family which will be great for all of them
wise words, Alex
Seems like it’s going to be Gary v Miley
A lot of other artists are releasing Christmas material soon or have done recently. Meghan Trainor’s Christmas album is out tomorrow for example so it is strange we’ve not heard anything yet about the re-release.
Also I thought we were getting UTR4 this year and that doesn’t exactly need much promo so shouldn’t be effected much by covid
It's a pity that because of a few swearing words we will never hear this song on radio.
Excellent track, isn't it?
One of my fave Take That songs is Reach Out. For me these songs have some similar structure so maybe that's the reason why I do like it.
November 1st, time to start listening again!
When's early enough for you Laura? 😅
Does somebody know if Rob has said that there will be a re-edition?
Not a tickety boo on the Christmas album, makes me wonder if it will happen at all
Here we go!
Woohoo!
Christmas jumpers at the ready!
They seem to have done the relaunch, will there be promo
https://shop.robbiewilliams.com/
don't think so
have a little patience
Fantastic news!
The new song is here
https://muzfak.net/37400-robbie-williams-can-t-stop-christmas.html
I like it
My imagination for the music video (I don't know will it be at all) sees as a remake of The Road To Mandalay where all these robbers look as persons wearing in Santa Claus costumes and coming through London streets.
For whom prefer Youtube.
I see Robbie's Christmas album has been re-released on Spotify with the new track added.
I love this new song.
I love it for the lyrics - that it acknowledges what we're all going through. He's captured it.
It feels like a big hug.
Hmmm... just one new track? That isn’t much of a re-release lol
We don't know all details.
But yes, it could be great to get a full re-release but it's not nesessary in my opinion.
If I could be his mgmt I wouldn't do a re-release this year, I'd do this:
1. Release only one new song per each Xmas within next 3-4 years.
2. Then will do a re-release adding 3rd CD with these 3-4 songs & absolutely new stuff for making this CD as whole.
Why.
- We have already had 2CD Xmas album! It's already too much and still haven't promoted at 100% but it needs to do.
In fact we already gor a re-release last year
- No chance to promote bigger album (re-release) this year due to covid. One song is more than enough for promotig via digital platforms.
- Even having only one new song all digital platforms promote the Album is noted as just released today! You can check Spotify, Apple Music and you can see that this album labled as a premiered on Nov-20. It's very smart way as I think. Fans understand this trick while ordinary people could listen and buy this as a new one.
- Regarding fans: well, we will get a new album in 3-4 months anyway. And again, we already have 2CD album which covers last and this year.
That's what I think about.
Oh, by the way, it's a great song and lyrics!!
Yes, Robbie could release one or two new Christmas songs every year for the next few years.
Gwen Stefani released her Christmas album in 2017 (12 tracks). In 2018, she released a deluxe version with 5 new tracks (17 in total). In 2020, she re-released the deluxe version with 2 new tracks (19 in total).
John Legend re-released his Christmas album with 1 new track this year.
Re-releasing an album has never been easier than now in the age of streaming. Just appreciate the new material.
With Christmas albums, the re-releases are really common in recent years.
It's being panned online!
Robbie Williams has released a controversial Covid Christmas song - have a listen
https://www.scotsman.com/lifestyle/christmas/robbie-williams-has-released-controversial-covid-christmas-song-have-listen-3042506
I like the tempo of the song and do not mind the lyrics. When you look at twitter it will not do well
Have listened to the new single today but December 1st for the album for me.
It's worth waiting for
I just heard the new song and I like it. I don’t get why it is controversial. It is fitting for the times
The song is becoming better and better. I really like it!
Same as TRTMandalay and Singing For The Lonely it sounds so positive while the lyrics is definetely not so happy even it consists some ironic and jokes.
In my opinion, that lyrics is absolutely Robbie in his best. In some point it's offensive and other point is catchy and understandable to the general public while have some unexpected turns.
Big thanks him fo that song, in fact it's for all ordinary people which are at the same situation this year.
We could say it as partly conjuncture but not vulgar at all! Very talented track.
Be healthy everybody!
I think the new song style wise fits in perfectly with the album.
It has the same feel. Just 2020 lyrics which I think are apt. You can't ignore what's happened this year. I like that he's acknowledged it in a song.
Hopefully this time next year we'll look back and be grateful life has moved on.
It's just a shame he can't perform it on a big stage.
Why, oh why are we all waiting?
The whole damn world anticipating
Beyond boredom and frustration
The planet's locked in what ifs and maybes
Like this bit
Agree about the same style and mood, Laura. Great addition to the 2nd album.
For relaxing I recommend you this video, it's rather funny review
And I agree with these lads that Santa Baby was the worst song of that album ))
I really like the song and while twitter is harsh youtube comments are far more positive. Great analysis. Alex.
I wonder if he will be in Wetten Dass this year. The show has been stopped but this year there will be a one off in memoriam and he always went there :-).
Well, this year it will be virtual then.
I preferred all the original songs to the covers on the album anyway.
The covers are not needed.
Lack of confidence if you ask me.
Chris Briggs, his A&R manager.
Yeah I would prefer just originals really but it is what it is.
I just wish California Christmas was added, maybe next year or UTR4 🤣
At the Roundhouse gig he said he really liked it
Robbie Williams on his Phoenix Park concert in front of 120,000 fans: ‘I can’t remember it’ https://www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/robbie-williams-on-his-phoenix-park-concert-in-front-of-120000-fans-i-cant-remember-it-39792559.html
Robbie Williams interview: "I don't look at the charts anymore, it would be a miracle... - Smooth @smoothradio http://shr.gs/EwjI6LM
I wonder if the album/single sells. There are dozens of Christmas albums out
I recognized this last year and recognise it now.
The album's cost stays on the same level from the beginning.
Almost all albums of that period (Coldplay, Rod, others) dropped the price by discount almost immediately after its release.
Robbie's album (even digital version) still costs over 10 pounds. For me it means his mgmt believes that the album can be sold even w/o discount by the moment.
We will see in 2 weeks, do they right or not.
Sorry I started a topic on the pop forum which was closed but guessed it must have been on this forum.
Really like the new single!
I heard it on Heart London today.
Hope it has a voice amongst the other Christmas songs out there.
Comeback to the charts this week
87 RE 07 Robbie Williams ~ The Christmas Present
Robbie will do some live performances this year!
Dec-12 - The Jonathan Ross show (final episode)
Dec-19 - Strictly Come Dancing (final show)
When I looked on Amazon - I could only see copies of the CD without the new single - haven't they updated the CD?
It's not just a digital thing is it?
Looking at Amazon data and album's progression there I'd say there could be Number 70 next Friday.
That's just my bet before midweeks chart.
On 6+ min Robbie confirms that there is an idea to release a new song per Xmas in future.
Of course such chart doesn't matter at all nowadays but Can't Stop Christmas is Number 41 on UK Official Singles Downloads Chart Top 100 this week:
https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-downloads-chart/
Alex, can you also keep us updated about the albums and singles chart position, if you can? I am lost in that these days. Also wonder if it charts anywhere else than the UK as Robbie is doing promo in Italy and Germany (nothing seen in Germany yet though)
Laura, at the moment officialy it's only digital re-issue.
Who knows, maybe they will re-release it as CD closer to Xmas time but now it's not confirmed.
Liz, sure
good news
As I know there have been sold 235K copies in UK and 550K WW by first week of 2020 year.
If he will reach 300K (Platinum) in UK and 700K WW during this season I would suggest this as a great achievement.
More likely there will be 270K and 620K WW by the end winter's season.
Let's see!
and - December 1st tomorrow so I can start to listen to it again.
I'm interested to see if I still like it as much over the next couple of days as I did last year.
I listened to 'Time for change' again and I really like it still
So I discovered today that my new car doesn't have a CD player in it! My kids said to me "welcome to the 21st century"
So I had to download the album again on my Ipod so I could play it in the car.
It means I've now got the whole album with the new single which I absolutely love.
I'm not sure how much radio play it's getting but I'm really enjoying it.
Promo in Oz
Love this
This sounds exciting - he will be in the studio rather than a video link?
oh I can watch that in the Netherlands. Looking forward to this. Has anyone access to the article in the Times? You need to register and I am a bit hesitant (I did it some years ago)
Me not
Well, the code for downloading a new single included to CD.
and here he is
So lovely to see him in action after so long. Lots of deadpan humour.
Looking gorgeous.
Needs to learn the words though
OMG! What a pleasure to be on BBC at 13:55! )
It was my question on Twitter about pink socks in Come Undone!
Enjoying this one second time around
I wonder if there is an idea to release of music video on Can's Stop Christmas.
Seems Tim Clark mentioned this but it hasn't been clear.
Due the fact it's only one song for this period and he's in Engand now there are more opportunies for that.
Also don't forget he's going to promote this (already started) in UK since this week so I'd do this if I was him.
Up to #36 in today's update!
Thanks for news.
Also added some new chart positions in Charts topic.
Australia?
Hello ... I have moved any posts in relation to upcoming events to the Whats Happening thread
Oh my god, so he could actually have a top 40 hit? That is awesome! I hope R1 play it in the chart show.
