17th November 2019
It's 2 weeks on top for Amon Tobin, as fellow ambient track GHOST DATA is up 24 places to 5, leaving only Dua Lipa popping up the top 5, her 3rd top 3. The late much-missed George Michael is getting high into the 10 from 64, the biggest climber, and posthumously his first new top 10 since 2006, and extends his solo run to 35 years. James Blunt replaces himself in the top 40 with new emotionally-touching ballad Monsters, Pete Tong gets a 3rd top in 3 years, and Boy George a first top 40 in 5 years, extending his solo run to 32 years. New entries include another track from Pet Shop Boys forthcoming Hotspots album, House Of Pain jumping around for the first time in 27 years or so, another Billie Eilish low-key track, Zero 7 returning to chart action after a 15-year-gap with new material and an 18-year span of charting. Taylor Swift combines with Andrew Lloyd-Webber for a movie theme from Cats, and carries it off, and Train and Skylar Grey both return in combo - a 14th for Train, and a 3rd for Skylar who first debuted in 2011, Train in 2001. That leaves our first new Christmas song - well, new to me at any rate. Doris Day's I'll Be Home For Christmas dates from 1964 and is about to be upgraded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, so she pops in in anticipation. 1 1 1 3 ONE SHY MORNING Amon Tobin 455000 2 2 1 5 YOU AND ME AS ONE Sigma & Jack Savoretti 575100 3 7 3 3 DON’T START NOW Dua Lipa 140400 4 5 4 6 LIGHTS UP Harry Styles 260400 5 29 5 3 TOMIE GHOST DATA 83200 6 3 3 6 FROM OUT OF NOWHERE Jeff Lynne’s ELO 332400 7 6 1 12 NOBODY ELSE The S.L.P. 850400 8 4 2 8 MOUNTAINS Bjorn Olav Edvardson & Arcteec 462600 9 10 9 7 TURN ME ON Riton & Oliver Heldens featuring Vula 183700 10 64 10 2 THIS IS HOW (WE WANT YOU TO GET HIGH) George Michael 49100 11 12 11 9 DON’T CALL ME ANGEL (CHARLIE’S ANGELS) Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus & Lana Del Ray 164500 12 8 8 7 ECHOES Lola Marsh 207500 13 19 13 4 ORPHANS Coldplay 88100 14 11 6 8 YOU. Hi John!
Your #1 was a BJSC track right? I don't remember it too well sadly (listening again now), I think it must have just missed the cut for the second listen. Ghost Data did just make the cut though, a pretty decent track! Nice to see Dua in the Top 3 as well, wonder whether it can scrape a week atop the charts officially? Giving the George Michael song a listen as well, it's a good song! Quite uplifting-sounding. Great chart |

Dua's looking less likely to top the UK chart now, sadly, but can live in hope! cheers! John |

Great chart! Hi Jordan! You took the words out of my mouth on the Dua Lipa track, took me a while to warm to it, and also re Tones & I needing to move over and give her a chance! My Silver Lining is featuring in a UK advert at the mo which has led to it doing well on itunes for the last month or 2, and it still sounds fresh (I can;t believe it's 5 years old!). Gwen I'm not sure, I'm guessing an advert as she's also popped back into the itunes sales chart and I didn;t much need much excuse to rechart one of my fave personal chart-toppers of the early noughties Praise indeed for Billie's new one I'm still finding Bad Guy very hooky (again featured in an ad at the mo). She's fab isn't she, total star! Thanks for the picks! |

Hi AH! , thanks as ever for the fab list! I have to admit I've cooled a bit on Dreamland faster than I usually do for a major new single/new album debut from the boys, and Burning The Heather is hopefully just an album track cos it's not remotely commercial nor as good as the B sides! I wondered if you'd like Icarus, dandy too, as to me it sounds like a Robyn track, has that sort of vibe Cheers! |
