I get that it's impossible to objectively compare songs from different sales climates but I feel like they should down-weight some of these big streaming hits. There's no way 'That's My Girl' and 'Oops' were more popular than all the top ten hits below it.

I can accept that streaming is here but who actually cares if a sales only list is ‘unfair’ on Little Mix? The fact is it has never worked comparing sales and streams as the same thing because they’re just not. It’s why the chart is now full of crappy rules. By allowing streaming in a list like this, it’s actually unfair to the other girl groups. Tough shit if Little Mix can’t compete in sales. It’s not their fault but what can you do? |

Obviously their downloads + streams aren't strong enough. I think the problem with streams included alongside sales in this list is that the days of physical releases saw limited time periods of availability. The shops stocked them until they got deleted and sold very very little afterwards (until downloads arrived). Streaming for songs like the Little Mix and Fifth Harmony tracks was allowed to continue for months because they stay up on Spotify etc. There's no real way to level the playing field - a sales only list would be equally unfair on the recent hits because obviously the likes of SOTME and Black Magic are huge hits, just a bit inflated on the scale of this list. Similarly though, Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Atomic Kitten are severely under-represented in my opinion - because of the low sales period of the mid 2000s! It works both ways and it's why a list over time will never ever be perfect. |

You're not wrong with this - Oops was definitely a notable hit and #41 in the streaming era means a hell of a lot more than #41 did during the 90s and 00s. It's undoubtedly inflated (like I said, due to a continued period of availability which the Spice Girls, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, etc songs didn't have at the time of their release) |

Back then you have to get up off your arse and pay an extortionate price for something that could only be played if you had the right device. You actually had to make a commitment. What isn’t differentiated with streaming is exactly how many people are streaming each song or whether or not the person streaming it even like it or it just happens to be on the playlist they’re listening to. Those are two very different scenarios and it’s tiring to see people trying to compare them like for like. |

It was #15 in the end of year chart for 2016, it's not really a matter of opinion whether or not it was 'that big a hit'
