Chart Commentary
It debuted at #20 last week after less than 24 hours of availability, and this week, Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan's long awaited There For You climbs to become the second #1 single for both artists. It's Garrix's third top 10, following debut #3 hit Animals and his first #1 earlier this year, Scared to Be Lonely with Dua Lipa. Troye has a much more hefty top 10 total, with eight previous top 10s. Only WILD has hit #1 however, although both YOUTH and TALK ME DOWN peaked at #2 (behind Shawn Mendes' Stitches and One Direction's Perfect respectively). Troye's debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, also holds the title of longest running album in my album chart (with 82 weeks), as well as the most weeks at #1 (with 16). Martin Garrix 2013 03 Animals | NAS | 29-3-9-12-10-14-17-21-30-38-36-X (11 weeks) 2014 27 Wizard (Martin Garrix & Jay Hardway) | NAS | 27-31-X (2 weeks) 2016 40 In the Name of Love (Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha) | 1 | 40-X (1 week) 2017 01 Scared to Be Lonely (Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa) | 2 | 1-1-3-7-9-13-17-24-24-30-36-40-X (12 weeks) 2017 01 There For You (Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan) | 3 | 20-1-... (2+ weeks) Also new into this week's top 10 is Rita Ora, who makes her long awaited comeback with the Ed Sheeran-penned Your Song. Rita's scored four #1s in my chart before, with the first being 2012's How We Do (Party) and the second coming two years later in the form of I Will Never Let You Down. She also topped the chart alongside Iggy Azalea on Black Widow, and Charli XCX on Doing It. Your Song doesn't reach these heights but it does outpeak her last few hits, becoming her highest charting non-#1 track. Unfortunately her tally of #1s does not include debut single R.I.P., something of a chart regret! Rita Ora 2012 12 R.I.P. (feat. (1+ weeks) The highest new entry this week comes from new British boyband The Shades, who I discovered when they supported The Tide on tour earlier this year. 24 Hours a Day was released last Friday (30th May) and enters at #4 this week for the four-piece, consisting of Mike, Rich, Tristan and Nathan. Speaking of concerts, I saw Shawn Mendes live on Thursday night, and there's a small impact for him in this week's chart, with both albums re-entering my album chart (Illuminate at #4 and Handwritten at #13), and There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back rebounding to #20. Expect a bigger impact next week! Also this week, we see the chart debut of synthpop duo Great Good Fine OK, alongside boyband Before You Exit who scored a #33 hit with I Like That in 2013. Find Yourself debuts at #15, giving them a new personal best. Stormzy also makes his chart debut this week, alongside Little Mix on Power, new at #19. Chart veterans Carly Rae Jepsen, Frans and Reed Deming also notch up new hits this week, although all lower than what they're used to. Hi Joseph
Seeing your signature, I was expecting Martin & Troye at number 1 here and I was right! Good to see Swish Swish still top 3 here. I'm not sure if this is her official new single. Interesting pop/rock song new at #4. Never heard anything about them before. However, the best new entry is Your Song imo. I'm so happy she has another big hit in her hands. Good chart! |

Hi Joseph.
1. Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan - There For You - 20-1- Looks like you're the bigger Martin Garrix fan this time, this'll be going nowhere near my #1. I do like it but it's a bit of a comedown from his last 2 mainstream singles imo. 7. Rita Ora - Your Song - 7- Fairly decent song and clearly a big hit, I prefer her earlier stuff like Hot Right Now though. 19. Little Mix feat. Stormzy - Power - 19- I think I'm liking this more than No More Sad Songs, of course it helps that Stormzy is a much better rapper than MGK. 23. Cheat Codes feat. Demi Lovato - No Promises - 1-2-2-4-7-10-13-17-24-23- ** LONGEST RUNNER ** Surprised that just 10 weeks is enough to be the longest runner on this chart, I've got five songs in my top ten alone that've spent over 10 weeks in my top 40. nice chart~ |

Hi Joseph!
Nice choice of #1 Nice to see Your Song enter - was pleasantly surprised by it! I have to say I'm not as much of a fan of Liar - I really liked If I Were Sorry but there's not really any crossover between the two Great chart |

Hey Joseph!
1. Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan - There For You - 20-1- ** HIGHEST CLIMBER ** I was expecting more from this really, considering the two artists. I'm just hoping it's a grower! 3. Katy Perry feat. Nicki Minaj - Swish Swish - 2-3- 6. Camila Cabello - Crying in the Club - 4-6- 7. Rita Ora - Your Song - 7- Not amazing but a decent enough song, and vocally she sounds fantastic on it! I'm glad it's doing well, she definitely deserves another big hit 10. Bebe Rexha feat. Lil Wayne - The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody) - 2-7-10- 12. Jonas Blue feat. William Singe - Mama - 5-6-14-12- 13. Harry Styles - Sign of the Times - 1-1-1-4-3-3-5-12-13- 14. Ariana Grande - One Last Time - 34-24-14-13-18-32-38-X-19-34-40-X-10-14- 18. The Vamps & Martin Jensen - Middle of the Night - 12-1-2-4-13-18- 19. Little Mix feat. Stormzy - Power - 19- Entered at the same position on my chart too, I wonder whose chart it will be higher in next week 20. Shawn Mendes - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back - 7-2-4-8-11-22-20- 23. Cheat Codes feat. Demi Lovato - No Promises - 1-2-2-4-7-10-13-17-24-23- ** LONGEST RUNNER ** 25. Charlie Puth - Attention - 15-3-5-10-13-23-25- 28. Niall Horan - Slow Hands - 27-38-34-28- I'm loving this more and more with each listen, I'm pleased it's looking like cracking the Top 20 this week 30. Miley Cyrus - Malibu - 14-25-30- 31. Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut to the Feeling - 31- Only Carly knows how to do a pop chorus like that *.* I wonder what the chances of R1 playlisting this are? 32. Liam Payne feat. Quavo - Strip That Down - 18-32- ** FASTEST FALLER ** Oh dear certainly wasn't expecting that!! 34. Lady Gaga - The Cure - 3-5-8-18-23-30-34- Good stuff as usual |

Hey Joseph,
Big climb to the top for Mr Garrix and Mr Sivan. Just a pity it's done nothing officially yet. Not heard your highest new entry, but it's good to see Rita Ora back in the charts again. Please be sure to check out my chart for this week — Top 40 Countdown by awardinary (W/E 08/06/2017). Smashing chart! |

Demi Lovato - No Promises - 1-2-2-4-7-10-13-17-24-23- ** LONGEST RUNNER ** Surprised that just 10 weeks is enough to be the longest runner on this chart, I've got five songs in my top ten alone that've spent over 10 weeks in my top 40. nice chart~ Hi Dan, thanks for commenting 1. It's basically a Troye song with an added breakdown, lyrically and melodically it wouldn't stick out on his album at all! I never really loved In the Name of Love but Scared to Be Lonely and now this are both making Garrix one of the best DJs around right now for me. 19. I agree! I enjoy Stormzy's rap (seemingly a minority), while MGK's rap always felt pretty weak in NMSS. 23. my chart is faster moving than usual right now, it's been a while since I've had a song last over 20 weeks in the chart I think. To put that into perspective, all five singles from The Vamps' debut managed that over a period of one year Hi Joseph! Nice choice of #1 Nice to see Your Song enter - was pleasantly surprised by it! I have to say I'm not as much of a fan of Liar - I really liked If I Were Sorry but there's not really any crossover between the two Great chart HI Pete, thanks for commenting LD Liar is certainly not as good as If I Were Sorry, or his other single Young Like Us, but it's pretty pleasant, shame you're not into it! Hey Joseph! 1. Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan - There For You - 20-1- ** HIGHEST CLIMBER ** I was expecting more from this really, considering the two artists. I'm just hoping it's a grower! 7. Rita Ora - Your Song - 7- Not amazing but a decent enough song, and vocally she sounds fantastic on it! I'm glad it's doing well, she definitely deserves another big hit 19. Little Mix feat. Stormzy - Power - 19- Entered at the same position on my chart too, I wonder whose chart it will be higher in next week 28. Niall Horan - Slow Hands - 27-38-34-28- I'm loving this more and more with each listen, I'm pleased it's looking like cracking the Top 20 this week 31. Good stuff as usual Hi Mango! Thanks for commenting 1. I'd say stick with it, hopefully it'll worm its way up your affections soon! 7. I preferred songs like I Will Never Let You Down and How We Do (Party) but I love the chilled vibe of Your Song and I'm really delighted she's managing another hit from it 19. I'm gonna guess yours think it might take a tumble for me next week before working its way back up! 28. It's finally growing on me too, you'll be pleased to hear! Big climb in store next week 31. I think she may stand a chance of playlisting, they loved I Really Like You and Run Away With Me didn't they? It's not guaranteed but I think they may get on board, I hope they do anyway. 32. I'm just not feeling it as much as I'd like Hey Joseph, Big climb to the top for Mr Garrix and Mr Sivan. Just a pity it's done nothing officially yet. Not heard your highest new entry, but it's good to see Rita Ora back in the charts again. Please be sure to check out my chart for this week — Top 40 Countdown by awardinary (W/E 08/06/2017). Smashing chart! Hi Andrew, thanks so much for the comments! Hopefully Garrix/Troye will climb up the charts in the coming weeks! Hi Joseph, Carly Liam C'mon Niall!! It's time to come back OLT Good N.1 Hey Seltin, thanks very much! |
