The fireworks have always had good ratings for its timeslot, I'm surprised they haven't picked it up for a series yet!

10.75m for the New Year broadcast between 00:00 to 00:10 on BBC One last night - that's down around 0.5m from last year but pretty decent all things considered.

Jools Holland also beat Alicia Keys oops:

Graham Norton did very well - around 1m higher than normal I think? I can't recall his NYE show going higher than around 4.3m in recent years.

Given the overnights have been fairly low all round despite more people being at home, I wonder if catch up will be better? Or if linear TV has just lost viewers for good.

I think iPlayer has been very strong since the last lockdown? In August it was reported that programme "requests" had been up 47% on 2019.

It's all about the content really: if the stuff people want is there, they will watch.

4.86m consolidated for Christmas All Creatures Great and Small, very good for Channel 5! I can only see it getting bigger with time. It already occupies 4/10 of their most watched programmes

Elsewhere on the week 21st to 27th December:

Black Narcissus rated 7.04m (up 2.14m), The Repair Shop (Boxing Day episode) rated 7m (up 1.02m), The Great British Sewing Bee rated 5.86m (up 1.18m), Antiques Roadshow rated 5.56m (up 260k), Countryfile rated 5.46m (up 160k), The Masked Singer rated 5.39m (up 1.23m), Ghosts rated 4.94m and All Creatures Great & Small rated 4.86m.

The first Monday and Christmas Eve episodes of Coronation Street rated better than Christmas Day (6.75m and 6.55m) and all other episodes of Emmerdale out-rated its Christmas Day episode (highest rating was 5.71m)
