Hull City are through to the play-off round following a 2-1 win against AS Trenchin.

But St Johnstone and Aberdeen are out following defeats to Spartak Trnava and Real Sociedad.

The Celtic and Tottenham ties look the most glamorous - there's a certain romance attached to Italian clubs in Europe imo.

Since the winners get a Champions League place, I can see Liverpool and Tottenham taking this very seriously.

Almost a catch-22 situation as the league form might struggle after Europe. Tho I guess for Spurs they don't have the FA Cup anymore. Most importantly I think both will want to win it, and both teams will want to win silverware, but realistically I think the domestic cubs this season are their best opportunities.

Poor from Gerrard last night on ITV. Should have said "The most important thing is that we scored"

Think he's forgetting that he's still a Liverpool player and should have kept the issue in house rather than call out Balotelli for being mischievous

No idea why Henderson is even first choice on penalties with Balotelli on the pitch, who obviously has more experience and a very good record taking them

Good result though. Scored a goal eventually and kept a clean sheet

Plenty of games tonight; who do people think will go through?

Only Everton look relatively safe; Tottenham the most vulnerable imo.

Not a good night for the British teams!

Most surprised at the Liverpool result, though they were poor from what I saw.

We were great in the first half, but Sturridge/Sterling were badly off form. Second half we played to draw, and Brendan got his tactics wrong. Uttter dreadful, couldn't strin two passes together. On one hand I'm kind of glad because I don't think our squad has enough quality/depth to maintain a fight for Europa/FA Cup/Top 4. Lots of injuries coming in to the game, and it showed cos we didn't have the personnel to change the game.

Abject performance from Liverpool and Tottenham with the Premier League meant to be the biggest league in Europe and yet only have one of their teams out of five this week win.

Fair play to Everton though. They will play Dynamo Kiev in the last 16.

Last 16 Draw:

Everton v Dynamo Kiev
Zenit St Petersburg v Torino
Villarreal v Sevilla
Club Brugge v Besiktas
Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk v Ajax
Wolfsburg v Inter Milan
Napoli v Dynamo Moscow
Fiorentina v AS Roma

How awful were Everton in the first half following them letting 3 goals in 15 minutes.

Looks like Premier League representation looks well and truly over in Europe for this season.

And it gets worse for Everton, they are now 4-1 down against Dynamo Kiev and need 2 goals which will put them through on away goals.

Everton rotf.gif rotf.gif

I can't believe people actually thought they could win the thing. Their fans are without a doubt the most deluded in the country.,

After Newcastle's laugh.gif I did at least expect them to navigate through this round though.

Going forward, Everton looked very promising actually. Defensively they were terrible! People underestimated Dynamo Kiev, but they have been accomplimished European team for as long as I can remember, especially at Europa League level.

Most deldued fans in the country are traditionally Liverpool and Newcastle. However, I think Arsenal's probably are at the moment

Well every team has their fair share of delusional fans, but generally a lot of these tend to know nothing about football whatsoever so it's hard to take them seriously, even though they think they're right laugh.gif My gripe with Everton is more that their fans are delusional about everything in general, not just their actually team's performance!

Yeah, its quite easy to spot a delusional fan and every team has them! There's plenty of West Ham fans around me at matches who believe Allardyce is denying us our rightful Champions League place laugh.gif In general, the bigger the club, the more delusional fans you have. Everton "expect" to be top 7, as that's what they've been used to for the last decade.
