BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Another big week for new releases~

Posted by: mdh Apr 25 2017, 07:08 PM

After a great week this week for new music, we'll be getting another week with loads of new tracks that could trouble the top 100 biggrin.gif

Afrojack & David Guetta feat. Ester Dean – Another Life
DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber - I'm The One
Fall Out Boy - TBA
Foster The People - TBA
Galantis – Hunter
Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls
HAIM – TBA
Katy Perry - Bon Appétit
Kygo & Ellie Goulding - First Time
OneRepublic - TBA
The Vamps feat. Martin Jensen – Middle Of The Night
Tove Lo - The Struggle

...looks like there'll be a lot of decent tracks out!

Predictions? I expect DJ Khaled, Fall Out Boy, Katy Perry, Kygo, OneRepublic and The Vamps will have a good chance of being top 40.

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 Apr 25 2017, 07:12 PM

Predicting DJ Khaled, Fall Out Boy, Katy, Kygo/Ellie and The Vamps/Martin Jensen to all challenge for top 40. Haim probably won't be far off although depending on the song, I can see them outperforming expectations. OneRepublic won't make top 40 instantly I don't think, neither Wherever I Go nor Kids debuted top 40 last year.

Posted by: Вuzzjack Apr 25 2017, 07:15 PM

I hope Another Life does well, it is definitely one of the best future bass songs of the future bass era - the drop is amazing, it puts Martin Garrix's two last songs to shame.

Posted by: cqmerqn Apr 25 2017, 07:19 PM

Predictions for official debuts

101+ Afrojack & David Guetta feat. Ester Dean – Another Life
40 DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber - I'm The One
101+ Fall Out Boy - TBA
75 Galantis – Hunter
60 Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls
22 HAIM – TBA
02 Katy Perry - Bon Appétit
09 Kygo & Ellie Goulding - First Time
50 OneRepublic - TBA
20 The Vamps feat. Martin Jensen – Middle Of The Night
85 Tove Lo - The Struggle

Posted by: ankietarrr Apr 25 2017, 07:22 PM

is it possible to hear those releases lets say in torrents?

like in music industry

Posted by: Zárate Apr 25 2017, 07:25 PM

If the song is instant and good I can see Katy Perry challenging the #1 as the sales are not big. At the same time I could also see her miss the top-10 with a wrong song.

Actually I agree with this. If it's a pop banger and has instant Spotify support, it could easily be top 3. Same with Kygo!

Think both of them will be top 7.

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 25 2017, 07:55 PM

I wish AJR would give 'Weak' a proper UK push sad.gif

I think it's time for Louisa to release something new, too.

Been revealed that Bon Appétit features Ariana Grande! Looks like it's a SERIOUS #1 contender for next week now.

Ariana Grande isn't a big chart force in the UK really. A top 10 debut looks likely.

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 Apr 25 2017, 09:37 PM

Ariana's a big name for sure! Will certainly help with curiosity streams at the very least, plus she has a big fanbase.

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 25 2017, 09:41 PM

Ariana is really big here. Katy and Ariana together will generate a lot of hype and curiosity - Ariana also always does really well on streaming. How the song does after the first few days depends on the song though. If it's a banger, it'll debut top 5.

Posted by: cqmerqn Apr 25 2017, 09:49 PM

I forgot about Side to Side

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌊 Apr 25 2017, 09:52 PM

Foster the People may be added in that list too. New music from is expected to be out this Friday (Sunday to a lesser extent) too, although I don't think it's going to do some much chart wise at all. Sigh!

Posted by: The Hit Parade Apr 25 2017, 10:04 PM

Ariana didn't help 'Heatstroke' debut at 1 did she?

That's because

1) it wasn't a proper second single
2) it wasn't at all accessible
3) it wasn't very good

...her fanbase are a lot less likely to invest in a chilled R&B track than they are a pop track, which is what she's known for.

Posted by: danG Apr 25 2017, 10:07 PM

Ariana only had a few lines on that track anyway.

She's also hardly on it.

Unless I'm being trolled by a few people on this forum, Rita Ora is also rumoured to be releasing on Friday!

BLOODBATH. Omg.

Excited for:

Galantis – Hunter
Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls
Katy Perry feat. Ariana Grande - Bon Appétit
Kygo & Ellie Goulding - First Time
OneRepublic - TBA
Rita Ora - TBA

*.*

Also, what did 'Chained To the Rhythm' open with? Because I can see Katy opening with extremely similar sales, and seeing as sales are fairly low right now, I'm hoping that she can do enough to capitalise and get a number 1!

Posted by: Ryan. Apr 26 2017, 01:16 AM

Oh my, Hailee, Katy, Ariana, Kygo, Ellie, Rita, OneRepublic as well as some intrigue for Haim, Vamps and Martin Jensen plus the Eurovision physical CD release all on one day?

What's next, a Diana Vickers comeback on Friday too? Rachel Furner to revert back to Tich for a new single?

32,859 (#7). Which would have taken her to #5 last week. But with Ariana on it could sell more than that.

Posted by: M4NG0 Apr 26 2017, 04:38 PM

Plus AJR feat. Louisa Johnson can also be added to the list for Friday. Not that I'm expecting it to debut high but it could become a sizeable hit eventually.

If all the above mentioned end up being released, this is going to be crazy week for new releases!!

Afrojack & David Guetta feat. Ester Dean – Another Life
AJR feat. Louisa Johnson - Weak
DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber - I'm The One
Fall Out Boy - TBA
Foster The People - TBA
Galantis – Hunter
Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls
HAIM – TBA
Imagine Dragons - Thunder
Katy Perry feat. Ariana Grande - Bon Appétit
Kygo & Ellie Goulding - First Time

OneRepublic - TBA
Rita Ora - TBA
The Vamps feat. Martin Jensen – Middle Of The Night
Tove Lo - The Struggle

All those in the same week ohmy.gif

Posted by: mdh Apr 26 2017, 05:54 PM

Just to be clear, I wasn't saying that a record with Ariana couldn't or even wouldn't be a Number One, just that it wasn't the guarantee some people were treating it as.

Anyway, the point's moot because she's not on the Katy Perry single. And people on Twitter aren't happy about that:

I won't be surprised if Katy reaches top 10 but now with Migos (manson.gif) instead of Ariana...hmm, I'll go with top 15.

Thinking Migos is one person... laugh.gif

They've been on so many jams lately! Quavo (one of the rappers) is on the Khaled/Bieber single and has also featured on big tunes Congratulations and Pick Up The Phone.

I think the confusion is because on their big hit single 'Bad and Boujee', over half of it is rapped by Offset (including the hook and first verse).

Posted by: Jonjo Apr 27 2017, 10:18 AM

I wonder how well OneRepublic will do? They've gone for a knock off of 'Shape Of You', which was a knock off of 'Cheap Thrills' in itself, it seems. sad.gif

Sounds like a big hit. Fair play to them for jumping on the bandwagon when it's a tried and tested formula for hitmaking and their singles from the last era didn't exactly light up the charts.

It's a shame they have to resort to this to still have an impact on the charts, but One Republic is One Republic and I'm down for anything they put on the table biggrin.gif

Hopefully this will be a hit somewhat like "Don't Wanna Know" was for Maroon 5... but better tongue.gif

Jumping on the latest bandwagon is such an easy (and desperate) thing to do. I thought OneRepublic were above that tbh.

You see, this is what I'm surprised about. Their albums have been natural progressions in sound, I feel. I will obviously judge properly when I hear the full thing (the clip is really getting stuck in my head laugh.gif), but I didn't expect them to chase a hit that much! I'm all for it if it gets them a hit and puts them back on the map properly, but this isn't what I wanted for them </3

Posted by: Jonjo Apr 27 2017, 01:04 PM

And just like that, it's definitely more "influenced by" as opposed to being an outright copy!

Really loving it. Hopefully a Summer smash for them!

I've always thought the opposite funnily enough. Their first album fits totally into Coldplay/Fray territory that was big then, and their 3rd album added a Mumford & Sons-stomp to it right when that was in vogue (Of Monsters & Men, Lumineers). Can't really pin something directly for their last album but I did feel once again they were trying to update into the times.

I don't agree at all. 'Native' was nothing like 'Mumford & Sons'! I can see why you'd say Lumineers due to 'Counting Stars' (but even then it's pushing it a bit imo) but that album is a lot more diverse than 'Counting Stars'. They've progressed with their sound with each of their albums, but nothing has been quite as "obvious" when it comes to chasing a hit as this song.

Ah alright fair play, memory is mostly based on "Counting Stars" & "Something I Need", only sparingly heard other tracks.

Obviously it's just how I hear the albums haha. But I do think "Stadium Pop" was the overall sound they were aiming for with 'Native'. 'Life In Color', 'Love Runs Out', 'Feel Again' and 'If I Lose Myself' are a more interesting takes on that sort of sound, imo.

Posted by: UltraGreenLight Apr 27 2017, 03:42 PM

Are any of Rita, Tove & MO actually confirmed?!

Posted by: Jonjo Apr 27 2017, 03:54 PM

M.O. have SOMETHING coming soon, so I think people just assumed a new single on Friday. Rita has been rumoured for an April release for a while, but she hasn't posted anything I don't think, so not sure where that one got traction from originally! Tove, not sure. She's not been released in Australia, so I doubt she's this week?

Katy and FallOutBoy are potentially releasing after radio premieres or something. (They seem like the type of acts to get away with that)

Everyone else I imagine are just UK releases anyway, so will go live at midnight?

There's a live version of 'Another Life' online...and it sounds great, but a bit too lively and not beige enough a future bass song I think to take off in the charts sadly.

Afrojack & David Guetta feat. Ester Dean – Another Life - this is quite good tbh but I haven't listened to it much at all!
AJR feat. Louisa Johnson - Weak that chorus is so annoyingly grating that it ruins the entire song, not even Louisa's addition makes this much more listenable
DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber - I'm The One crap.
Fall Out Boy - TBA a mess but better than expected as in its more of a 2/10 than a 0/10
Foster The People - Doing It For The Money
Galantis – Hunter
Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls - The only artist to live up to expectations *.* perfection <3
HAIM – Right Now
Imagine Dragons - Thunder - utterly horrendous, worst thing they have done yet
Katy Perry feat. Migos - Bon Appétit - I've made my thoughts clear on this
Kygo & Ellie Goulding - First Time - ok but should've been better than it is
M.O - TBA
OneRepublic - TBA - Same as the afrojack song
Rita Ora - TBA
Sean Paul feat Migos - Body - horrific
The Vamps feat. Martin Jensen – Middle Of The Night - solid, big improvement from all night for me!
Tove Lo - The Struggle
Wale feat Major Lazer, Dua Lipa & Wizkid - My Love - same as afrojack again

I can now rate the songs. This was a great week for new releases!!!

Afrojack & David Guetta feat. Ester Dean – Another Life - This is completely awful. I was let down as I love Afrojack and Guetta!
DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber - I'm The One - Great tracks cheer.gif
Fall Out Boy - Young & Menace - Utterly fantastic, I keep going back to it and the video is fab!
Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls - Awful! I couldn't make it through the whole track!
Katy Perry - Bon Appétit Amazing track!!!
Kygo & Ellie Goulding - First Time HUGE LETDOWN!!!
OneRepublic - No Vacancy Fab track, nice to see the boys back with something different
The Vamps feat. Martin Jensen – Middle Of The Night Fairly good but no Oh Cecilia or I Found A Girl
