This week's musings are up on the front page and the latest news box.

Just to reassure people with tickets for future shows (and I'm not jealous at all sad.gif ), the Kate Bush section does not contain any information about the content of her show.

This is Ariana Grande's second album, not her debut - the debut made the top 10 as well! tongue.gif

Also as far as I'm aware the version of 'This Is How We Do' that features RiFF RAFF (yes, that is how he stylises his name) is only a remix, it's the solo album version being promoted. That said I didn't hear all of it on the chart show today so I don't know which version they played.

I can confirm it was the album version they played. RiFF RAFF's version is just a remix.

Wasn't her debut the first album to chart on downloads only?

Definitely not, wouldn't have even been* the first to make the top 10 - Frank Ocean's 'channel ORANGE' came out the previous year and got as high as #2 on downloads alone. Music Week included a list of albums to chart on downloads alone in one of their commentaries, possibly the week Frank entered.

* IIRC it wasn't actually download only, that was a mistake in the release schedule on here

UPDATED TO INCLUDE THE CHART OF W/E 13th SEPTEMBER 2014

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

1) THE ACTS WITH THE MOST SIMULTANEOUS TOP 40 ALBUMS

A) ELVIS PRESLEY - W/E 10th September 1977 - 12

B) THE BEATLES - W/E 19th September 2009 - 11

C) MICHAEL JACKSON - W/E 18th July 2009, W/E 25th July 2009, W/E 1st August 2009 - 9

D)=JIM REEVES - W/E 24th September 1964 - 8
D)=ELVIS PRESLEY - W/E 17th September 1977, W/E 24th September 1977, W/E 1st October 1977 - 8
D)=MICHAEL JACKSON - W/E 11th July 2009 - 8
D)=KATE BUSH - W/E 6th September 2014 - 8

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

2) THE ACTS WITH THE MOST SIMULTANEOUS TOP 50 ALBUMS

1) ELVIS PRESLEY - W/E 10th September 1977 - 13

2) THE BEATLES - W/E 19th September 2009 - 12

2) ELVIS PRESLEY - W/E 10th September 1977 - 14 (Chart was a Top 60)

3) THE BEATLES - W/E 26th September 2009 - 13 (10 in the Top 60)

4) ELVIS PRESLEY - W/E 17th September 1977 - 12 (Chart was a Top 60)

5)=KATE BUSH - W/E 6th September 2014 - 11 (All in the Top 60)

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

4) THE ONLY FEMALE TO HAVE 3 TOP 10 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME

(No Female in a Group has ever managed more than 2 Top 10 Albums at once)

AMY WINEHOUSE - W/E 6th August 2011. Due to her death Amy was at No.1 with 'Back To Black'. No.5 with Frank. And at No.10
with a Double Album that contained both Albums - 'Frank/Back To Black'

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

5) THE ONLY OTHER SOLO FEMALES TO HAVE 3 TOP 20 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME

(Amy's 3 simultaneous Top 10 Albums in 2011 were also 3 Top 20 Albums of course)

JOAN BAEZ - She managed it for 10 Weeks/Charts in a row.

From W/E 10th July 1965 to W/E 11th September 1965

(The UK Album Chart was only a Top 20 at the time).

KATE BUSH - W/E 6th September 2014

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

6) THE SOLO FEMALES WITH THE MOST TOP 75 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME

(Indeed Kate Bush is now the only Female Singer - Solo or not - to have so many)

A) KATE BUSH - 11 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - W/E 6th September 2014

B) KATE BUSH - 10 Top 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - W/E 13th September 2014

C) MADONNA - 4 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 2 TIMES - W/E 11th March 1995 & W/E 18th March 1995

D) MADONNA - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 38 TIMES (Between 1986 & 2002)

E) AMY WINEHOUSE - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 22 TIMES (Between 2007 & 2011) @@@

F) RIHANNA - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 11 TIMES (All 11 in 2011)

G) DIANA ROSS - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 4 TIMES (Between 1973 & 1974)

H) SHIRLEY BASSEY - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 3 TIMES (All 3 in 1970)

I)=NANA MOUSKOURI - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 2 TIMES (Between 1970 & 1971)
I)=CELINE DION - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 2 TIMES (Both in 1998)
I)=SHANIA TWAIN - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 2 TIMES (Both in 2000)

L) ADELE - 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS AT ONCE - 1 TIME (In 2011)

@@@ = In 2007 & 2008 The OCC, (Chart Rules), regarded Back To Black & Back To Black
(Deluxe) as being 2 different Albums. So they were allowed to Chart separately. When Amy
died in 2011 Chart Rules had changed & The OCC combined the Sales of both Editions of that
Album. Which is why the Deluxe Edition did not Chart separately, when Back To Black returned
to No.1 in the Chart of W/E 6th August 2011, due to her death. Both Editions of the Album
were combined, to give her that No.1, (& subsequent) Chart Position.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

7) THE SOLO FEMALES WITH THE MOST TOP 40 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME

A) KATE BUSH - 8 TOP 40 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME (2014)

B) KATE BUSH - 5 TOP 40 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME (2014)

C) AMY WINEHOUSE - 3 TOP 40 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME - 14 Times (2007 - 2011)

D) MADONNA - 3 TOP 40 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME - 3 Times (1 in 1995, 1 in 2000, & 1 In 2001)

E) DIANA ROSS - 3 TOP 40 ALBUMS AT THE SAME TIME - 1 TIME (In 1974)

NOTE - JOAN BAEZ did it for 10 Weeks in 1965. I've not included her in this List as the Chart was only a Top 20 at the time

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

8) SOME POPULAR FEMALE SOLO ACTS WHO HAVE NEVER HAD AS MANY AS 3 TOP 75 ALBUMS IN THE SAME CHART

BARBRA STREISAND, TINA TURNER, JANET JACKSON, WHITNEY HOUSTON, ENYA, KYLIE MINOGUE, MARIAH CAREY, BEYONCE,
BRITNEY SPEARS, PINK, & LADY GAGA

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Thanks for that Colin. Kate Bush thus becomes the "live act" with the most simultaneous albums in the chart. All the others were either dead (generally recently dead) or a defunct act (The Beatles).

Do you have a list of acts who have seen all of their albums (more than, say, six) in the top 50 simultaneously? All eleven of La Bush's albums are in the top 50 this week.

Yup, I've seen the album in HMV (and have a copy myself) so it definitely wasn't download only.

I know it wasn't download only completely, I just seemed to remember that it was (at least flagged as) download for it's first week.

I never knew that about the Frank Ocean album though. Thanks for the clarification

I seem to remember the CD wasn't available here straight away, at least not in some places as I know I couldn't get it on Amazon initially. But yes it was made available soon after.

Thanks for that extra work Colin. Kate Bush has certainly shattered the previous records. I can't see her matching Bowie's record of 14 weeks with five top 40 albums though.

Seeing Bush and Bowie featuring so prominently in those lists must be Simon Cowell's worst nightmare laugh.gif
