QUOTE THE MEMBERS OF NEW DIRECTIONS TAKE THEIR FINAL BOWS ON THE SPECIAL TWO-HOUR SERIES FINALE OF "GLEE" FRIDAY, MARCH 20 ON FOX Geraldo Rivera and Andrew Rannells ("Girls") Guest-Star GLEE goes back in time to find out why the original members of New Directions initially signed up for glee club. Then, GLEE flashes forward to see how the character's lives have progressed five years down the road in the all-new, special two-hour "2009/Dreams Come True" Series Finale episode of GLEE airing Friday, March 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET /PT) on FOX. (GLE-609/613) (TV-14 D, L) I'm almost in tears already It looks like '2009' was originally meant to be the ninth episode but it appears to be a lot more fitting here. "I Lived" sounds great and Rachel is down to sing another original song written by Darren called "This Time"! |

I can't wait for 2009!!! I've seen it on the listings for a few weeks now but it kept getting moved, so I was wondering if it were even real It's going to be sad when the bell rings for the final time though

Been quite inconsistent with my S6 viewing but I'm going to stream tonight because it's last one ever! The show started when I was 11/12 and it'll end just before I hit adulthood, so I've grown up with it in a way! Let's hope it goes out with a bang.

I know at least half the show has been shit, but I'm going to miss it and I'm ready to shed tears during the finale. I will never regret sticking by it and it's been a wonderful part of my life the past 6 years.
I was 18 when it started and it's played its role in my transition from adolescence to adulthood. I've seen my taste in TV grow so much over the past few years and Glee was the last remaining "teen" show in my schedule, so it's more like the end of an entire era for me. |

I talked a bit about what the show has meant to me in the "What has Glee meant to you?" thread from a couple of months ago but I give it a lot of credit for where I am today as the live tour in 2011 was my first experience in many years of the city where I now live and it's because of Glee that I started watching so many other US TV shows. Nothing else has had such an impact and it's been there with me right through my teens.
Don't remember the pilot off by heart to know if it all fits but the first episode was so wonderfully nostalgic. It was great seeing Howard and that one member of the Glee club from the first season that everyone's forgotten, even if only for a second. And even fitting Blaine in there, providing the LOL moment of the episode. Loved the "Popular" performance. It was sad having them talk about Finn without him actually being able to appear in any new scenes.. The talk they had about him in the choir room was quite emotional. Ending the episode on the performance of "Don't Stop Believin'" was perfect. |

That last performance was such an amazing flashback, especially with Cory It was like the series came full circle.
Now for the last ever present-day episode |

Okay the finale wasn't THAT great, but the last performance KILLED me. I haven't cried this much in ages. How amazing that they included every single New Directions member (bar Marley and Rory). It wins best performance in Glee by FAR. It was PERFECT.

Was Marley not there? I couldn't account for everyone, was Ryder there then? It was an amazing last ever performance though but I do agree that the finale wasn't great, ugh.
It was FAR too happy-clappy for my liking. Yes I totally believe that the new New Directions won Nationals on first go without even seeing the performances, not. Also the whole Will taking over the school and Mercedes opening for Beyoncé, I'm sorry but not everything has to end up so perfect, it isn't believable like that. Sue as Vice President, wtf??? Honestly. Thank god Rachel was only a surrogate because I was freaking out thinking that it was her own baby. It was obvious after last week that she was going to end up with Jesse but ugh at that, I don't buy Jonathan Groff in a straight role especially after watching "Looking". I wanted her to end up with Sam because I thought her being with one of Finn's best friends felt right. I wanted more closure on more characters. Santana & Brittany not making an appearance until the very last performance? I'm so done. To try and count-balance all the negativity, I DID like the auditorium being named after Finn. Ryan Murphy has said that the finale isn't 'as he imagined' due to Cory's death so I guess that does play a role and she wouldn't have ended up with Jesse otherwise.. I've been so emotionally invested in the show so that's why it's sad when the finale is below average. I'd rather imagine it all ended with '2009' with the performances of "I Lived" and "This Time" tacked on (because an much as it was an ensemble cast, Lea was the show and that performance was getting to me too). |

Yeah the episode was very farfetched but I've come to expect that from Glee. '2009' was the one that really got me emotional! It was incredible how well they still played their 'old characters', Lea still does a killer S1 Rachel. The continuity was largely excellent for a change apart from the random appearance from Blaine? With his bullying back story surely he wouldn't have been at Dalton yet? Hmm I'll let it slide because THAT ENDING oh my gosh EXACTLY the right way to tribute the show with the track that started it all off!
So yeah VERY odd that this is ending now, I haven't really been emotionally invested in it since early S5 (late 2013) but it was a huge part of my life and a major escapism during some really confusing and difficult teenage years so it was rather sad to watch it finally end! |

It wins best performance in Glee by FAR. It was PERFECT. I don't think Damian and Melissa were credited for the show (Damian I know, Melissa I could have missed).Honestly, I don't think I made out a lot of the characters after the original cast (and Sugar) made their curtain call. I couldn't make out Kitty at all? Surely her presence is a sure-fire. This post has been edited by Cody Slayberry: 21st March 2015, 03:44 PM |

I really need to catch up! The last episode I saw was middle of Season 5 when Glee club was no more!
I think I'll start watching them all tonight after work! I really will miss the show. It was one of the first TV shows I became properly invested in too! |

Hmm I'll let it slide because THAT ENDING oh my gosh EXACTLY the right way to tribute the show with the track that started it all off! I let that slide because of how funny the moment ended up being but yeah I thought it was odd, throwing Blaine in there for the sake of it. I couldn't make out Kitty at all? Surely her presence is a sure-fire. During the 'I Lived' performance? She comes out at the same time as Santana, Brittany, Puck etc. as clear as anything! I think I'll look back on the finale more fondly over time and the title of the episode itself was 'Dreams Come True', guess it's hard to please everyone and it just wasn't exactly what I wanted and I just think the characters can have their happy endings without them being TOO happy. But eh, I guess that's Glee and what the message of the show is about, not like I wanted characters that I cared for to end up unhappy and not every show gets a chance to wrap things up so silver linings. |

To be honest, I'm really glad that they had a few tributes to Cory/Finn during these last two episodes. He really gave that show a presence and was part of this huge legacy, and seeing the iconic "Don't Stop Believing" performance nearly broke my heart
Also, that last zoom out |

Yeah I haven't been emotionally invested much (if at all) since about the first few episodes of season 5 I'd say... I think this was a fitting end though, it was great to see them all back together (well except Marley </3 and Damian who I never liked anyway) for such an anthemic track like that.
I agree about the endings for the characters though, feels a bit unrealistic for them to all get basically their PERFECT life and achieve the goals they want exactly, but wit hthe title I guess it just sums about what Glee is all about so in a way it couldn't have been any other way. Despite me not really caring for the past season or so, it feels so odd and sad that it's ended because it's been such a big part of my life for 6 years - through some of the absolute worst times of my life it was real escapism (especially through seasons 1 and 2). Of course they couldn't have an episode without Blaine though, he just HAD to appear in 2009 |

I loved both episodes despite the unlikeliness of all the events happening simultaneously. 2009 was a perfect throwback, from the styles to the clothes - so on point for the feel of Pilot. My only irritation was Blaine's appearance but I won't let it wind me up too much. Cory's absence was obviously felt but the inclusion of "Don't Stop Believin'" in its entirety made up for that.
Dreams Come True felt a bit rushed, especially with the "Five Years Later" scenes; I would have liked to have seen more of the characters return before the final performance but it was pretty epic. It's rather sad that Marley and Rory were the only two members of New Directions to not appear, although I understand that Melissa Benoist has had other commitments. Poor Damian though! Overall, I'm sad that Glee has ended but it had to happen at some point, and I know that it's not been perfect (particularly over the last three seasons) but it got a good ending that it deserved. It's been a massive part of my own growing up and has more than likely allowed me to come to terms with parts of my identity, that without, may have taken much longer for me to embrace. 💚 |
