BuzzJack Music Forum _ Little Mix _ Leigh-Anne - Stealin’ Love • 3rd Single

Posted by: Slayer 11th February 2024, 12:57 PM

She's been teasing this A LOT lately online so I thought i'd finally make a thread.

Posted by: RobBot 11th February 2024, 05:58 PM

Leigh-Anne to release a song without love in the title challenge.

Posted by: Slayer 13th February 2024, 05:30 PM

Posted by: Scene 14th February 2024, 09:05 AM

Her first single is Don’t Say Love and then her next two singles both feature the word love as well. laugh.gif

Posted by: Jessie Where 14th February 2024, 12:00 PM

Leigh-Anne: "Don't say love"

Also Leigh-Anne: "I can't stop f***ing saying it!!"

Posted by: Slayer 6th March 2024, 09:36 AM

5/6 months since My Love

Posted by: Slayer 25th March 2024, 05:05 PM

Out on Thursday

Posted by: Jαsє 25th March 2024, 05:29 PM

Apparently her label have refused to pay for a music video.

Posted by: Slayer 25th March 2024, 05:33 PM

I saw that too. I bet if there is one Leigh funded it.

This is the article for those who have not read.

Posted by: Slayer 25th March 2024, 09:29 PM

Apparently she said on Discord she is in rehearsals.

Posted by: J00prstar 26th March 2024, 09:26 PM

I don't mean to be rude but it's kind of wild that after 10 years in the industry multiple of the girls would have such little business sense. I wish her luck but strategy wise this career path has been a bit all over the place for Leigh.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 27th March 2024, 12:35 AM

I agree everything is a bit all over the place and screams complete mishandled and same with them all from Little Mix so far unless Perri can buck the trend.

Posted by: Jessie Where 27th March 2024, 12:00 PM

I'm not sure it really has been that mishandled, I think they tried as hard as they could to make both singles happen but it just wasn't meant to be for her. They're now at a crossroads and don't know where to go next.

I'll be astonished if an album actually happens.

Written by Ian Kirkpatrick, Jermaine Jackson, Philip Plested, Sam Elliot Romans and Leigh-Anne.

Produced by Ian Kirkpatrick and The Runners

Length 2:20

Just listened to the final version, such a bop. My favourite out of the three and a lot of my friends said the same. Sounds much more like what I expected from her.

Not mishandled at all. They have clearly paid for her to win awards and done deals with radio. She had 3 physicals for both singles and what look like expensive videos.

The label did their part, the songs just weren't good enough

Posted by: Yousee 28th March 2024, 08:20 AM

I like the song - it's cute.

Posted by: Slayer 28th March 2024, 09:40 AM

Love the sound of her voice but the song is kinda blah? It is missing an umph.

It doesn’t feel like single material or the sort of song to push if she’s already struggling. The chorus is catchy though but it isn’t near ML/DSL.

Posted by: Lukuzz 28th March 2024, 09:43 AM

I like it on first listen but think I prefer the first two tbh

Posted by: Jessie Where 28th March 2024, 10:14 AM

I also much prefer the first two singles (which I actually think are really good), this is album filler quality.

Are you just here to bitch and moan as always? It must be so tiring to be so negative all the time.

I actually really like Stealing Love, it's a cute bop!!

They have a point though, its kind of a joke to see her nominated for & winning awards off the back of very little actual success as a solo.

Wish her well ofc although I don't get the whole energy of "I'm a new artist" when your entire adult life has been working in this industry

Posted by: Slayer 28th March 2024, 10:44 AM

Yeah it is obvious a lot of the notations/awards are bought.

I agree, you can’t use the ‘I’m a new artist’ when you’ve got such a bigger platform than actual new artists.

Anyway, hoping I enjoy the other tracks on the EP more.

Leigh-Anne’s mom

Posted by: Mangø 28th March 2024, 01:08 PM

'Stealin' Love' is pretty forgettable, I agree that the first two singles were much better. Maybe this will be demoted to a buzz single once it inevitably misses the top 100?

Don't worry I just ignore posters like that who cant accept any constructive conversation.

The song has even less idenitity than her first two singles, so the talk of depth and 'real' Leigh-Anne is a load of pish.

Don't say love was a decent song, was missing her rapping a middle 8 to really lift it but her doing UK garage was a decent lane to go down, the female Craig David type.

Warner will be parting company with her before long I'm sure.

Posted by: Yousee 28th March 2024, 02:17 PM

Yes I much prefer My Love. That's my fave of the three.

I really like this she sounds so lush . My only gripe is how short it is , it abruptly ends as soon it kind of gets going . It needed a bridge and final chorus to really take it there !

Does anyone think this will chart?

Might make like #98 in the first update or something.

Posted by: Mangø 28th March 2024, 03:16 PM

Capital will no doubt be all over it (they still play her other two songs every 5 minutes) but yeah I can't see it troubling the top 100

This particular post, yes. But Jack isn't the only one who has noticed this... this particular poster literally never posts anything other than to be negative towards anything these girls do... not even "coNsTruCtiVe CrItICiSm". It's like they're only here just to make fun of them and throw shady comments because they've not hit the big time as soloists quite like other group members who have gone solo.

"People can't handle criticism in here"... no... we can. But when it's literally THE ONLY THING YOU DO AND MAKE IT YOUR PERSONALITY FOR THIS PART OF THE FORUM.... THAT's the problem. Why even bother coming to the artist forum just to antagonise and be negative ALL THE TIME? It's one thing saying you don't like certain songs when you've managed to hear them or even the awards comment this poster has said. But to do nothing BUT be negative & bitch and moan all the time... like... why even bother posting in the forum/topics? (Not even just Little Mix - I'm not constantly in a Florence & The Machine thread bashing her or in the Kylie forum critiquing everything I don't like about her etc... I just don't understand??)

---

Anyway, back to the song:

This is GORGEOUS! Her voice is so smooth and dreamy! It reminds me a little bit of a slightly more mature 'Your Love' and that's exactly the lane I wanted Leigh to be in as a soloist. It works so damn well for her. wub.gif

It's clear this isn't being pushed as a single! So do not expect it to chart laugh.gif But I am absolutely taking this one. I wish it (like most songs nowadays drama.gif) had a bridge and final chorus though! It's tooooo short </3

Posted by: sammy01 28th March 2024, 09:00 PM

I used to be a fan of Little Mix (Jay can back up that I championed Move as a brilliant song on another forum when it came out and was being slated, it still is a great song). They lost me when they became very generic, stuff like Shout out could be anyone singing it. So I give them/their solo music a chance.

Not that I have to justify myself to anyone. Especially someone who has just decided to attack my personality, when all I have done is comment on the music and roll out.

You evidently cant handle other opinions (well ones you don't like any way), you have just demonstrated that very clearly.

You enjoy the song I'm not stopping you, wont tell you you shouldn't post if every comment you make is gushing or blind stanning cus if that is what you want to do then great. At least I gave the song a chance which is more than 99% of the public will.

Posted by: Slayer 28th March 2024, 09:27 PM

So a song will be dropping every MONTH...

I thought the full EP would be out sooner than another 4 month wait. Idk why I expected a new song every two weeks or something.

Posted by: Slayer 28th March 2024, 09:29 PM

It seems there WILL be a music video, great I was worried there wouldn't be. Shame it couldn't be released at the same time, so I guess it is an official single or she's making a video for every song on the EP?

Posted by: Yousee 29th March 2024, 06:11 AM

#4 on NMF Spotify.
Most reviews on the song have been generally positive tbf. 🤞

Posted by: JosephBoone 29th March 2024, 02:43 PM

It's pleasant but not very interesting to me sadly sad.gif maybe it'll click with further plays. My Love is my favourite of her tracks so far, got a really infectious quality to it, and I didn't mind Don't Say Love but I found it pretty faceless.

Posted by: J00prstar 29th March 2024, 11:58 PM

Its kind of amusing in isolation that her first track is 'Don't Say Love' and then she herself keeps titling her next songs something Love

I'm surprised it got that many streams tbh.

Posted by: Slayer 30th March 2024, 07:22 PM

Not that iTunes means much but did this even break Top 10 on UK iTunes? There is a lot of love on Twitter for the song but I know that isn't actually representative.

Streams increased on Friday due to all the playlists it was added to.

That's how I'm finding all her solo material so far. There's nothing really distinctive about it.

Posted by: conorw 31st March 2024, 01:00 PM

its a lovely track, very mellow! shame shes struggling to have commercial success, but singles 2 + 3 are so much better to the first one which is a shame cos the first one is the 'biggest'. excited for the ep too

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 31st March 2024, 04:04 PM

I am obsessed with this! It’s exactly what I wanted from her wub.gif

Posted by: Padamic Tension 31st March 2024, 05:47 PM

I think she is lacking that something standout unfortunately to make it as a successful solo artist, the singles aren't bad but lack standout.

Posted by: Slayer 31st March 2024, 06:29 PM

I’m guessing no chance of this charting.

Posted by: Slayer 1st April 2024, 06:02 PM

Day 1 - 129,191
Day 2 - 172,673 (+43,482)
Day 3 - 125,704 (-46,969)
Day 4 - 87,303 (-38,401)

Total: 514,871

The song is not appearing in the first look mids, therefore not looking to chart.

Posted by: pippa 2nd April 2024, 11:24 PM

Very disappointing as a low midweek placement wouldn't require much.

Posted by: Slayer 5th April 2024, 05:02 PM

Didn’t chart.

Posted by: Slayer 5th April 2024, 07:00 PM

Music video is out

Posted by: Slayer 5th April 2024, 07:01 PM

I love the idea of doing a video like this but I don't think it translated well? It's just missing something, there's no spark?

I do applaud her making the effort to make a video on an obviously tiny budget, atleast she's giving something.

I think miming along to the song would have even made a big difference to the video overall...

Posted by: J00prstar 5th April 2024, 10:09 PM

I think it's cute. I don't love her outfit, I was kinda distracted trying to work out what it is - a top or a shirt over underwear?

Posted by: awardinary 5th April 2024, 10:29 PM

Is the success of this single make or break for her? I mean I’d like to see it chart but it didn’t trouble the Top 100 this week. sad.gif

Posted by: Jessie Where 6th April 2024, 09:00 AM

It feels more like something she's just thrown out there rather than something she's gambling everything on. I dunno, maybe that ship has already sailed?

Posted by: Frenchie 6th April 2024, 10:31 AM

I like the song, but if 'Don't Say Love' or 'My Love' couldn't be hits I sadly don't see what could for her.

Posted by: sammy01 6th April 2024, 12:15 PM

The video is just what happens when a label slashes your budget. She can say it is artistic but really it is just cheap.

Tbh for all the impact that it will have she might have well have saved the money and not bothered with a video but I think having one is more about saving face. An EP not an album and a single with no physical or video would scream this is not viable.

Posted by: J00prstar 6th April 2024, 04:26 PM

It kinda begs the question why all of the girls shouted from the rooftops about their albums in the first place, when no such thing was guaranteed. Jade has played it well by not promising anything so far. It then makes them look a fool if what they promised and promoted never ends up materialising.

I really didn't expect Leigh to repeat some of the mistakes Jesy made with her solo career if I'm honest.

Posted by: Slayer 6th April 2024, 05:14 PM

This makes no sense?

Surely it'd make sense to promote this EP and the songs and videos she's making for it, otherwise what's the point?

How's she supposed to get a new audience if it's not promoted. To me it seems the label do not want to put in the funds for a big video/promo due to the underperformance of the other two singles. It's just so weird…

Leigh-Anne would love to promote this stuff. It makes it sound like she doesn't like the previous singles to what will be on the EP and that the promo will come with a more conventional song she doesn't like as much that she'll then promote? I think she's just saying anything to save face at the moment.

What she's saying makes no sense, how are you going to get new fans/reach a new audience with no promo? But she'll promote a song in 4 months after the EP? weird.

Posted by: ___∆___ 7th April 2024, 12:11 PM

Have the label given up on her totally? The visibility of this single has been zero to the point I didn’t even realize she had released anything new until today!

Posted by: J00prstar 7th April 2024, 04:44 PM

I think I prefer the sound of this one to My Love which was a bit repetitive.

Really her career has not been handled well though. I feel like Jesy and Leigh both made the mistake of being overconfident or having too high expectations instead of working to establish themselves first.

How should they have worked to establish themselves?

Posted by: Jessie Where 7th April 2024, 06:26 PM

I think unfortunately Leigh-Anne was just destined not to make it big as a solo artist, and that probably also goes for all 4 of them.

I can potentially see that being the case in the long-term. Maybe a little buzz single that gets a Top 40 finish but after that it would be a struggle to maintain any success as solo artists.

Could Little Mix be reunited sooner than expected perhaps?

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 7th April 2024, 06:35 PM

I am still obsessed with this song tbh. It's gorgeous. I think it's actually my favourite of hers to date.

Posted by: Slayer 7th April 2024, 06:36 PM

As much as i'd love a Little Mix comeback, i'd rather wait a while, I'm really interested to see what they all do individually.

We haven't even heard Jade or Perrie's stuff yet, I feel like they have the most potential as they were the most popular within the group.

I want all four to thrive in whatever they end up doing and being happy.

Posted by: Yousee 7th April 2024, 09:09 PM

It's usually an uphill task to achieve solo success coming from a band. The first single usually has the best chance, then the downward spiral starts. I like all three songs; I mean, I still prefer them to a lot of what makes the top 10 these days.
It does seem like she expected more though, and that's the problem.

Posted by: 1hit1der 5th May 2024, 12:20 AM

Not this cover making me vibe with the song more lol

Maybe I'm just a sucker for girl group / 3-part harmony vocal arrangements smile.gif
