QUOTE(Jonjo @ May 16 2018, 07:04 PM) *
I'd put it on a par with the first.

It's overrated and nowhere near as great as people like to believe it is. There's a story, but there's not much of a script again. It's just full of over the top "shocking" and annoying jokes and pop culture references, which makes it all feel a bit hollow to me and just like the first, feel like there is no substance.

Cable and Domino were the easy highlights for me and I feel like Domino will be a huge fave with Buzzjackers and some of the action scenes were good.

I'd give it a 6/6.5 out of 10 which puts it on a par with the first for me.

Ok, but stupidly overrated.

Saw this last night and think I agree with all this, Jonjo.

I think with the first film, the shock factor had me in stitches, but I didn't find this one as funny - guess we're just used to Deadpool's ways now! Funniest sequence in the film was X-Force's skydive, which had me crying with laughter, as did the end credits scenes.

In terms of superhero films this year, I'm thinking Infinity War, then Deadpool 2 and then Black Panther.

The whole X Force scene was when it really got funny (and really good) for me. The credits scenes were very funny too!

Movie is okay but it’s way too long and it’s not anywhere near as good as the first one.

I'm in a positive mood rn *.*

+0.5 for the frozen reference
+0.5 for the Taylor Swift reference
+0.5 for the 3 jokes out of the 150 that were actually funny and not cringe/try hard/behind unfunny
+0.5 cos it eventually ended

2/10

But why are you so harsh on this and not absolute crap like Avengers?

9/10

I still prefer the first one it was more cohesive, the set pieces worked better. This one is flashier, faster-paced and an assault on the senses - definitely needs re-watching to not miss stuff. Ryan Reynolds is still my future husband, what's not to love, fit, handsome, smart, witty, a man who doesn't take himself or the biz too seriously, and who is genuinely nice when it counts (not in Deadpool, obviously, but in the real world supporting causes and his friends - Rob Delaney (Peter) recently lost his young son).

The cast were fab, Domino great, still love Roots' Kizzie (Leslie Uggams aka Blind Al to y'all), Dopinder is still funny, as is Weasel. Josh Brolin is just awesome as always, still love Firefly's Morena Baccarin, and great to see Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry get a super-hero suit. Yes it's violent, smart-arse, requires a degree in pop culture to get all of the gags and is morally dubious much of the time - but gets away with it cos hey, it knows it's not real. Fortunately I have always gotten off on pop-culture-referencing media cos it's a great love of mine, especially super-heroes, when done well. Also love old pop songs getting new life. Hi Cher!

I agree in ratings of the year it's Avengers then Deadpool then Black Panther in that order.

Because the story is all over the place.

I like it. I just didnt love it as much as I wanted to sad.gif the script and story is just pop culture references and overly crude jokes. There's literally no substance imo and that's why I don't particularly love it.

The X Force scenes were sfg though. Brad Pitt is listed in the IMDB credits, was he Vanisher? laugh.gif

I genuinely thought it'd picked up from then on, right through to the chase scene, but then it went back to normal Deadpool humour, which I really don't mind when it's in doses, but as I said previously, practically the whole script? No thanks.

It's about to break R-Rated numbers record here in US and rightfully so heart.gif

This was good, not great. That gags are funny to a point but it’s a little TOO aware of itself in paces. A fun watch though, about as good as the first one - a decent 3/5 afternoon filler.

Oops it looks like it's not going to break the R-Rated numbers record.

Nice opening though. We'll see if it'll stabilise, I can't see it stabilising too great, but I can't see it falling away that quick either.

Saw this again, it was all right but the gags and jokes were a bit much at times. Some parts were funny though.

Saw this the other day as I really enjoyed the first one, pretty much more of the same in almost every aspect. But honestly, I still find it incredibly refreshing in this oversaturated genre and I appreciated this went a bit deeper and less generic in terms of story than the original. I really liked all the new characters, less so Russell, but Domino and Cable were great as was the whole X-Force recruitment, Juggernaut as well *.*, perhaps a little too reliant on stereotypes in places, particularly Negasonic's girlfriend, but it wasn't off putting.

LOVED the post credit scenes as well, I do feel if this is gonna become a sequel they need to switch it up a little bit. It worked this time, but you could tell that it would tire going any further.

I agree with some of the comments on here, its on par with the first one, I really expected more from it with less gags, love the skydive with the XForce, hilarious. Cable and Domino dominated and the chase scenes were dynamic to watch. Josh Brolin is becoming a great actor with a couple of big movies behind him now. I think the film picked up at mid point and enjoyed it more, the most hilarious bit was when he was growing back his legs, and the rest of the gang was making jokes at his tiny wotsit with Blind Al holding something laugh.gif

I still loved it in some ways but I wouldn't go out and see it again like I did with the first one, as the first one was just so perfect and a gem to watch, such a different character from the other MCU's

For me Infinity War, Black Panther, Deadpool 2 so far this year.

Great little promo video they made, amusing as always laugh.gif Wolverine & Prof X died in a future world we havent got to in the current timeline so it's all fine for me.

Not a lot of people know I played Professor X on stage years before Patrick Stewart. That sounds made up but it's 100% true. I was a stage support superhero to evil host Darkseid (communicating via telepathy - I agreed only to do it if I didn't have to speak) at early 90's UKCAC, the then-big annual comic convention. We did a filmed pre-stage sequence too. Got a laugh when I wheeled myself into camera with a bad bald cap on.
