Since I started the Humanz thread I thought it would only be fitting for me to start the [insert 2018 album name here] thread too Needless to say I am very hyped for this to come around after falling in love with Humanz over & over again.
The Humanz world tour begins in about a month and sees the gang accompanying the likes of The Killers, Lana Del Rey, Milky Chance, Bastille, and Imagine Dragons (amongst many many others) at some concerts. Hopefully the tour will see them debut some new material and maybe the next album campaign will begin soon after the tour / in the second half of it? Mostly speculation at this point but speculate I shall After they gave us some very interesting collaborations last year, is anyone hoping to see any familiar faces again this year? Or even some new names? |

I’m always looking forward to more new material from the Gorillaz! Hoping for the album to have the same standard of collaborations as Humanz along with more experimental music which they are really good at!

Some more random collaborations like Grace Jones and Carly Simon would be good!

Already? I was prepared to wait until the 20s. Bring it on though, I enjoyed Humanz for what it was, wasn't quite as amazing as the stuff I fell in love with them for but still a good sight better than most of the music last year.

Gorillaz have just announced a new album. I'm very happy we don't have to wait too long this time, and the music on the website sounds great. |

(can this be merged with the OG Gorillaz 2018 post plsss http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...amp;hl=gorillaz )
https://twitter.com/DamonUnofficial/status/...419748302278657 Snippet on that website is so disco sounding I love it Strobelites 2.0 anyone? "No more unicorns anymore" and "G is the magic number" are floating around as album promo too, as well as two new songs they've performed on tour Hollywood and Idaho. Snoop Dogg has also performed with them recently Judging by all that ^ information alone, I'm almost 5000% sure this is a response album in a way to Humanz. A lot of the last album was "I don't want Trump to be president", "If trump is president the world will end", "Politics sucks" and was a Gorillaz album through & through in a sense. American song titles is a big hint too. Demon Days came at an awful time in the world, post-9/11 and the Iraq war was just getting started (in terms of UK interference anyway thanks Tony) and 2016/17 was no better. Now it's 2018 and the world is going to shit. That's how the album will play out "No more unicorns anymore" feels very much like a "there is no hope left" sort of quote. Nothing to believe in. Santa isn't real? That's ok you'll still get Christmas presents. Unicorns aren't real? f***ing travesty. Humanz was all about preventing doom & gloom, The Now Now is about accepting it and moving on. I'M SO EXCITED. rip album of the year George Ezra Fingers crossed for a (very unlikely) De La Soul sample for a song called "G is the magic number" sampling this UK #7 This post has been edited by Dexton: 27th May 2018, 08:13 AM |

Okay, I am stoked for this. I'm always interested to see what they come up with and if it's so soon after Humanz, surely Damon's planning something a little different with it.
and yes of course let's merge with my near identical comment from a couple of months ago |

The other song they released was Lake Zurich, which I prefer. |

'Humility' is hitting me more out of the two on first listen but both are pretty cool! So pleased that we have new music already so soon after Humanz, extremely excited for the full body of work

Humility is such a jam Lake Zurich is nice too, reminds me of their Plastic Beach days
QUOTE In a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn said The Now Now is a summery record, produced by Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford, who most recently worked on Arctic Monkeys’ incredibly divisive Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. It’s also worth noting that, in direct contrast to the guest-heavy Humanz, The Now Now only has three featured artists: the aforementioned Benson, Jamie Principle and Snoop Dogg. Barely any collabs... a good thing or a bad thing? Humans was full of guests which left us wanting some vanilla Gorillaz a bit, but will this have too little as a Humanz follow up? Humility is a very instant song. A bit subdued but it's got enough oomph about it to mean that I'm not worried about this being a non-event like The Fall and in fact, quite the oppposite. The lack of collabs should give a very different feel from Humanz, which I could use from them.
